Obama Reject Sings Anthem for McCain

Friday I wrote about Zach Bencal of Londonderry, NH getting a last-minute call from the Obama campaign. They called to cancel the high school kid’s singing of the National Anthem at the Obama event last Thursday. Yes, they canceled the 90-second song that unites us so they could squeeze in more speakers.

Today, when John McCain speaks at St. Anselm College, Zach Bencal will be singing our National Anthem.

The New Hampshire Union Leader has the story:

By ALEC O’MEARA

LONDONDERRY – Zach Bencal has become something of a celebrity after his scheduled singing of the national anthem at Sen. Barack Obama’s New Hampshire rally last week was canceled at the last minute.

“A friend of mine from school said to me today, ‘Oh my God, you are going to become the next Joe the plumber!’” the Londonderry High senior said.

The non-appearance has taken on a life of its own on the Internet, as conservative blogs have used the late scratch to question Obama’s patriotism. The issue gained liftoff when the Drudge Report initially incorrectly reported that the campaign had cut both the anthem and the Pledge of Allegiance from the rally. It turned out the pledge was delivered by a retired Marine before Obama’s arrival at Mack’s Apples.

Bencal will be back in the spotlight tomorrow — he has accepted Sen. John McCain’s campaign’s offer to sing the anthem at the Republican’s campaign event at St. Anselm’s College in Manchester

“I’m a huge believer that everything happens for a reason, and I guess this is one of those things,” Bencal said, conceding that the last week has been “unusual, to say the least.”

Bencal said the Obama campaign called him the night before he was to sing and said his services would not be needed, because an additional speaker had been booked.

Sandra Abrevaya, communications director for Obama’s Manchester campaign office, later called it a miscommunication. (ed. typical not my fault Barack)

Jeff Grappone, New England communications director for the McCain campaign, issued a statement regarding the scratched anthem yesterday.

“Standard operating procedure for Barack Obama: politics first, country second. John McCain knows firsthand the sacrifices that have been made in defense of our nation. He always honors America with pride, paying tribute to the sacrifices of the men and women who have fought for our freedom,” Grappone said.

I sincerely hope that McCain speaks about this and that they put it in an ad. But John, please don’t talk about the importance of singing the anthem at events, or patriotism. This is really about Obama and his campaign placing no value on promises, no value on his word. It is just the latest in a string of broken promises like taking public financing, FISA and not abandoning his life long preacher.

After all, when Obama makes a promise or commitment it’s just words.

Update: McCain has already spoken this morning and Zach did sing the anthem.

Here’s what some St. Anselm students think of our John McCain.  Picture from today.

The McCain people know a good song.

    • Hope Floats! Flush Twice!

Obama doesn’t follow protocol when the National Anthem is played. According to the United States Code, Title 36, Chapter 10, Sec. 171,

During rendition of the national anthem when the flag is displayed, all present except those in uniform are expected to stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart.

‘As I’ve said about the flag pin, I don’t want to be perceived as taking sides, ‘Obama said. ‘There are a lot of people in the world to whom the American flag is a symbol of oppression. And the anthem itself conveys a war-like message.

You know, the bombs bursting in air and all. It should be swapped for something less parochial and less bellicose.

I like the song ‘- I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing.’ If that were our anthem, I might salute it.’

‘I don’t think my church is actually particularly controversial.’ – Barack Obama.

      • PamelaofthePoconos

Obama has remarked: There are a lot of people in the world to whom the American flag is a symbol of oppression. And the anthem itself conveys a war-like message.

Now I see the full picture: Obama has vowed that he will ‘change the world’ as reported by this UK source which covered Obama’s October 18th rally at Londonderry NH:
        http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/uselection2008/barackobama/3219308/Barack-Obama-vows-to-change-the-world.html

So O is being careful not to offend any citizens other than the ones who will vote for him. Or not.

      • Sunshine

        You are spot on…

Weird, he calls off the singing of the National Anthem and he gets there too late for the Pledge of Allegience? The liberal media gives him a pass.

He is making a mockery of everything that the USA stands for…WE CANNOT LET HIM DO that to us…we have to fight for McCain/Palin to win this election.

        • tj

I was just thinking the same thing. No matter where he is, even the coronation event, he always appears AFTER the national anthem and the Pledge of Allegiance. I wonder how he will get out of it if he is elected. If I remember correctly it is played at the inauguration ceremony. This man hates America and the people who are voting for him are acting clueless.
Why have we not heard of this at all? The price tag of Sara’s wardrobe is all over the media, but I have heard nothing of BOs dumping of this singer.

          • bethtopaz

Or what about the price of Michelle “let them eat cake” Obama’s little afternoon snack?

        • Betty

The liberal media gives him a pass.

Remember the weird pie speech he made a week or so ago? He was mocking us,he knows he can say or not say anything he wants and the press will treat it like words from an oracle.

      • Annie Oakley

Is he planning on using the original lyrics or the SNL(?) version?

I’d like to teach the world to sing
And tell it jokes and stuff
Then pull its pants down to its knees
And drag it through the rough.

I don’t think he likes us. I think he’s got plans to make us over in an image he prefers. All he has to do is get the rubes to sign on the dotted line first.

      • likeable enough

Although so easy to believe, Snopes debunked this. According to Snopes, it started as a parody.

        http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/stance.asp

        • Hope Floats! Flush Twice!

Thanks, “likeable enough,” you ignorant slut.

  • doc99

    Just don’t question Obama’s patriotism

    • barry bums a ciggie

That photo burns me every time! The youtube video of it is even worse. I mean DAMN! How hard is it to put your hand over your heart for the anthem? My friends from Europe come over here and when we to a game, even they know the significance of the anthem show their respect. Barry Soetoro just don’t get it.

      • onmomnaturesside

If you are taught from young to place your hand on heart and why you should do it as an honor to those who worked to make this country the beacon of hope that it is. You just always do it. It’s a reflex.

If you were never taught this and it wasn’t done in your schools or in PTA meetings or at football games…
Then it wouldn’t be a reflex.
        Obahma didn’t have that reflex.
Did you also notice in the article, it said the Pledge was indeed said, before Barack arrived.
BEFORE he arrived. So, has anyone actually see Barry actually say the pledge? I have seen him ask others to say it. ( after being called out on that at a rally)
Hand on heart? What’s that for?

        • makeji

I was never taught to put my hand over my heart during the National Anthem, only for the Pledge of Allegiance.

          • Diana

When I was in elementary school we were taught to put our hand over our heart and stand. We used to say the pledge and then sing My Country Tis of Thee. We never sang the full song just the first verse. We crossed our hearts while we sang it as well. Then we would have one minute of silence. For the 4Th of July celebration we sang America instead for that week. Same routine. Every year from Kindergarten through 6Th grade. In Jr. High and High School we just said the pledge.

        • barry bums a ciggie

I’ve always wanted someone at Barry’s townhall or chance meeting at a diner to ask him to recite the pledge of allegiance. I would bet good money he doesn’t know it. My 6 year old can recite and says it with conviction. I don’t think Barry knows what it means to recite these words.

    • Urban Hillbilly

That totally bothers people…to this day…people who are planning to vote for Obama!

    • Rob G in Chicago

He must have seen Jesse Jackson approaching with sissors. In Crotch We Trust?

I think you have to have it before it can be questioned….

So much for all those individual donors
    http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/10/22/politics/washingtonpost/main4538028.shtml?tag=topHome;topStories

    Sorry, o/t :(

    GOOD FOR THE Bencal kid!!

    • http://Q Diana L. C.

I hope all those fat-donkey donors have to admit they blew a lot of money on a loser. Trying to buy what they believe is the next President so they can demand he listen to them–that’s what I see happening. Obama has really ruined the election process by not keeping his agreement about matching funds. I hope it becomes mandatory after this.

And, regarding Bencal’s new chance to sing at an event for the future President, maybe he is right. Things happen for a reason. Who wants to say I sang for the also ran?

I met lots of bright young people who were Hillary supporters during the primary. Obama thinks he has all the high school and college crowd locked up, but he doesn’t.

I’l like to hear him sing it.

  • http://www.thatsmeontheleft.blogspot.com/ Puget Sound Island Gril

    Holy Crap!!

    I am raging right now!

I’ve actually had Obamabots in my face about this—trying to get me with mommie guilt! Their Messiah would never. . . OH YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • AnninCA

You really think he’s talking about a draft?

      Interesting…..

There’s that last game-changer, if that’s the truth.

      • WasLNbutNoBamaBotsKeepStealingMyName

obamabots…be afraid…be VERY afraid…you’re in the Army now, you’re in the Army now…

        • Annie Oakley

No pledge though. Army, yes. Pledge, no…unless it is to Obama.

      • http://deleted Buzz Latte

What? This isn’t news. Obama has been talking about a private national military/police force the whole time. Then Biden talks about an international crisis coming home to roost on Obama’s head. Obama’s gonna need troops!

How is he going to get recruits? Demand them by a draft.

Of course he’s all for the draft. He’s a dictator wannabe.

      • Zee

Ann, Obama is all about mandatory service.

I don’t mind the youth…they deserve it for supporting him, but he’s also talking about over 50′s.

My son and I are already in detailed discussion about which country we’re emigrating to.

    • http://www.thatsmeontheleft.blogspot.com/ Puget Sound Island Gril

Don’t forget to read Obama’s words in the second part (of that link http://www.tinyurl.com/6zhv32 )

      • http://Q Diana L. C.

I thought that too when I read what Biden said. He’s now trying to get his SS units set up. Only the truly hypnotized and most obnoxious of the bots will be allowed therein. The others who are drafted, well tough luck. You’re in the Army now.

        • Zeke

I sure hope he gives them nice bright uniforms, maybe with a big Obama “O” in the center of their chests…
That way, we can tell who the players are without a scorecard!

      • Stephanie

Appears the University link with the transcript has been scrubbed.

    • typewriterstreaming

Doesn’t shock me. He said two weeks ago at a rally women will be required to register for the Selective Service. Obama is going to level that unlevel playing field known as the military, where for years we have heard too many minorities carry an unfair burden. He’s going to redistribute the military committement. Obama is a rat bastard and I guess I can’t wait to see the look on my coworkers who are raging on buying new Obama shirts “Black is the New President” when they draft their sons and daughters. I was so excited to get rid of George Bush and all I got was a Dictator.

      • lisa in va

If he does it, I can only pray that he includes those college students. Whats fair for the goose is fair for the gander.

        • http://Q Diana L. C.

Well, he can’t do it without Congress. I can only imagine how his attempt to do it will play out. Again, IF he wins, his presidency will be four years of chaos.

I predict that, though Cheney really, really deserves it and so does Bush, the O will be the one who is impeached and kicked out.

(Oh, NO! I’m predicting a Biden presidency! We do need a deux ex machina at this point.)

          • http://Q Diana L. C.

            deus NOT deux–my bad!

            • Diana

I totally agree. If he is elected it will come out about his adoption and he will have no choice by the laws of this land to step down or be impeached and we will have Biden for President. I think Biden knows it as well.

        • http://Q Diana L. C.

That was the thing that really made me angry while I was in college as an undergrad–all the young men in school who did not give diddly squat about their studies. They were there on their Daddy’s dime to keep them from the draft. All my cousins and my brother joined instead of being drafted, so they could choose the branch of the service. My parents and aunts and uncles couldn’t afford to pay for our college. I earned mine on an academic scholarship and by working 20 – 25 hours a week. Most of my cousins wanted to farm, not go to school.

We had an insurance agent at our house just this week remembering the Ayers type of people spitting on him and calling him a “baby killer” when he, too, had ended up in the army because he couldn’t afford school. (Not every one had parents who would pay for a stay in Canada or for years spent living as a fugitive.)

If a future draft includes the old college deferment, I will be in the streets, old as I am, fighting against it. I am almost hoping he tries it so we can hear all the bots whine about how conned they were.

          • Zee

in the street? I will be in the sidewalk cafe.

Let the Obots and all the young hags fight their own fights.

Pass the asper-cream and the lattes.

      • Hope Floats! Flush Twice!

Obama thought the military would be nifty, except all the good wars were over when he was old enough to serve. So, he backpacked in Pakistan instead. On a foreign passport.

      • Zee

Practice your smirk, typewriter. I recommend a bright, innocent one slowly fading into a sneer so they know you are silently calling them dickheads.

Remember….wide eyes, huge smile, let one side of the smile fall while narrowing your eyes into a total knowing, told-you-so smackdown.

    • sayitisntso

Easy for Bama to go for the draft when he never even served. What the hell did he even accomplish as a civilian that we can talk about?

    • Diana

This is why they’re encouraging an attack; to justify it.

    • Jackie

Well Kerry did say that Bush would restart the draft if he was elected we just misunderstood it ould be Bush III, AKA Obama

Pretty ballsy of a pair of wanna be men who never served.

      What a shit.

    Way to go, Sen McCain!

  • MsSoAnd So

Once again McCain does the right thing, and cleans up Nobama’s mess. I am flabbergasted that people can’t see the ineptness of “that one” in almost everything he does, but most importantly in how he treats people.

WTG Zach Bencal enjoy your moment, you deserve it.

Sad thing, though, is – if that boy were old enough to vote he’d STILL probably vote for Obama – just like I’m sure his parents are. How sad.

What about information on Zach’s mother’s pregnancy? The parking ticket his father got in 1975? The fact that Zack did not graduate from an Ivy League college? Those are some important points the corporate media can get their teeth into.

    This is hillarious by Zach

“A friend of mine from school said to me today, ‘Oh my God, you are going to become the next Joe the plumber!’” the Londonderry High senior said.

And totally reflects what America learned when Joe asked a question of ‘THAT ONE’

    :-D

    • Kristen

So true- even high school kids realize what will happen if you make “that one” look bad. So sad!!!!!!

  • Urban Hillbilly

The best campaign ad would be tape of all the instances Barack Obama has said he is ashamed or embarrassed of our country. (ie Americans not being able to speak French) PLUS the recordings where Barack Obama has put-down the American people – (ie “bitter”, “clingy” and making fun of Joe the Plumber).

The US electorate will not elect a man President who is ashamed of his country. Never.

  • Jackarooty

OMG! I know Zach Bencal! I used to work for his mother about 10 years ago. He was Mr. Show Business since he could walk and talk. Can someone post a link of him singing? I must get in touch with his mother Cynthia and congratulate her!!!

    • NewHampster
      • Jackarooty

Thank you for the link. If I remember correctly Zach’s parents leaned to the right politically. I hope McCain uses it in an ad!

    • Karma

How cool that you know him and his family!

That is the type of reaction that we knew Zach’s family and friends missed out on.

Tell Cynthia and Zach congrats from NQ….we truly hoped that McCain would give them this honor.

This needs to be an ad, plus where is the ad about Joe Biden’s gaffe?
John McCain needs to hold a press conference and list questions he thinks need to be asked of the Obama campaign for the good of America.

Plus, when someone talks about Palin’s clothes smear, tell them abut this fact:
“In his third-quarter financial report filed this week with the Federal Election Commission, Senator Barack Obama did not provide a full accounting for where his campaign had spent money on travel, catering or a variety of other expenses.

The report filed late Monday shows dozens of payments to credit card companies that were not accompanied by a specific explanation of what the money was spent on. As much as $1.2 million in credit card charges in July, August and September did not contain detailed information of hotels, airfare and campaign expenditures.”

Team Obambi-media used to attack Hillary with how many donuts she fed campaign workers before a primary. This is an old tactic that Obama did constantly during the Primary, but not telling where his 600 mollion dollars has gone. Also he rolls out the endorsements….puke!

    • AnninCA

He’s clearly trying to buy the election. There’s an article on RCP today about how he has trashed the entire concept of fair and equal politics by this election money grabbing machine.

Plus, they are still pushing for money. It will be used, no doubt, to secure the loyalty of down-ticket dems as he doles it out later.

He can’t possible need more. There’s only 3 weeks left.

But John, please don’t talk about the importance of singing the anthem at events, or patriotism. This is really about Obama and his campaign placing no value on promises, no value on his word.

    …..

Excuse me, but this has EVERYTHING to do w patriotism and the National Anthem is a salute to our great country. Damn straight….

  • Khan Krum

What happened to the story that B. Hussein dissed the National Anthem when he was over in Kenya campaigning for dictator-to-be Raila Odinga? Is that still circulating? And, is there footage of it?

    • bemused

I hope so. That would be a deadly tape, if it could not be dismissed as a fake. Would have to have reference points in it.

  • Rah-Rah

On the surface, this seems like a small thing. After all, life is tough and things get canceled. However, did the Obama campaign not even consider how much time Zach must have put into preparing the song? Another really stupid (I’ll have lobster, champagne, and caviar in the midst of a recession) move by the Obama camp.

    They are completely clueless.

    • Firefly

Sociopathy IMO – no conscience – no connection with other human beings – no ability to empathize or put one’s self in another’s place – no regard for others – period.

Just the pretense of humanness and of human traits. Sociopaths are well-practice and work to become expert at faking all the facial expressions, all the “empathetic” phrases.

Somebody said that sociopaths know all the words but none of the music.

  • NY mom

soldier4hilary you are one of my favorite posters/writers/speakers.
    You would be so amazing!

  • Portia

You know, this is more proof that McCain is an incredibly decent human being. His daughter was on Hannity and Colmes recently and talked about her resentment of Bush tactics against her little sister. She said, “my dad is a forgive and go on type…I’m not” (or something to that effect).

Good move, McCain. But not at all surprising.

  • Firefly

Oh man! The real numbers – not the polls that are waaaaaaay overpolling democrats – must be REALLY BAD for the 0fraud – and the 0media are in full-out panic PROPAGANDA mode. Check out the new headline at Yahoo:

Is Sarah Palin a Liability? The VP candidate finds herself in hot water again, and the latest polls show she’s hurting John McCain —–> Fallout

And, what might the 0bamamedia be calling that “hot water” she supposedly got herself in? That she told a grade-school class the VP is “in charge of the Senate.”

    OMG OMG OMG OMG!

    • AnninCA

She is accurate on that one.

Amazing that so many supposed educated people do not know that fact.

    • KFaye

Sarah Palin was John McCain’s DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE. He was sending a clear message that he was not going to play the role of PUPPET to the PAMPERED POODLES of the Republican Party. During Sarah Palin’s speech at the Republican Convention the camera panned onto Peggy Noonan. The look on her face was priceless! She, and her ilk, have been whining under their breathe about Sarah Palin since the moment her nomination was announced. These snobs, twittering together, listening only to the sound of their own voices, actually convinced themselves that if they went public with their whining about Sarah, that it would start a movement to force John McCain to kick her off the ticket. Mind you, this was while Sarah Palin was drawing bigger crowds than anyone else in the race. I loved John McCain’s response when a reporter asked him about even Republicans complaining about Sarah Palin’s qualifications. A big smile came across John’s face and he said, only the ones that didn’t get picked. Priceless!

      • Firefly

The Peggy Noonans and the rest of the Washington insider crowd no doubt had their pet (elite insider) pick for McCain’s VP.

When he IGNORED them by picking Palin – when he didn’t obey them – they got steamed – and they’re still furious. Heck – they’re probably still steamed that McCain’s the POTUS nominee.

The Peggy Noonans of the cocktail party circuit suddenly realized they WILL NOT be power players in the new McCain administration. And, it’s always and only all about the Peggy Noonans, donchaknow….

I hope the author has bot insurance. Speaking the truth is verboten in Obamaland.

    • ritamary

      This is an excellent article.

OT: Is the author the same Orson Scott Card who is a well-known science fiction and fantasy writer? His novel “Red Prophet” is my favorite fantasy novel.

      • KXT

Yes, he is. He also has the article featured on his website with all his other writings.

      • Zee

Orson Scott Card is an awesome author…but he is a Mormon fanatic. Just saying. If he thought his dead boys book would introduce Mormon life as anything but a cult he was mistaken.

I would not take a single thing he says outside of fantasy as normal thought.

The Mormons think that the males will be gods of their own planets and the women can only be pulled into these (cough) “heavens” by their god-males where they will be part of a harem populating the planet with ghost-babies.

And Orson thinks he can pass judgment on Bill Clinton? Put down the rightwing freak koolaid and back away, progressive friends.

    • George Smathers

As the polls tighten, the inevitable total lack of substance hit piece on Palin must come out in big headlines right on cue.

Yahoo homepage shows “Latest Palin missteps could be costing McCain, and there are two articles:
Is Sarah Palin a Liability? http://www.yahoo.com/s/974839
Her recent missteps blow up on web http://www.yahoo.com/s/974840

The first article of is nothing more than a media perception of Palin foisted upon the public that gets reflected back in the subsequent polls they conduct.

The second one on her actual “missteps” is actually quite amusing. In talking to THIRD GRADERS she explained the duties of the VP and oversimplified the explanation so they would understand. The media is now slamming her for her lack of depth of knowledge on the Constitution.

The other “missteps” were regarding her telling the CNN reporter, who nonetheless agreed with her, if she had said what BIden had the media would be all over her and wearing expensive clothes given her from the RNC to wear on the campaign trail to prove she isn’t a Wal*Mart shopper. She said at the end of the campaign, she would donate the clothes to charity.

Of course all the low information voters and Obots won’t look past the headline and only the headlines go viral.

The media has been doing everything (I know, preaching to the choir) to shape erroneous perceptions. Headlines yesterday on Yahoo, Obama slams McCain’s tax and economic policies, says McCain is out of touch. Today’s headlines, Obama brushes aside GOP criticism of his tax and economic policies. Note the difference in perception just from those headlines, Obama says McCain is wrong, yet in the second it is not McCain challenging, it is Obama swatting of GOP criticism like annoying little gnats as if McCain does not have any counter argument at all. Tell the lie often enough it becomes the truth.

    • KXT

The article is aslo on Official Orson Scot Card Website
      http://www.hatrack.com/

Everyone needs to know the truth about the media lack of journalistic integrity..

    • d2d

Great read. Maybe he should become a journalist rather than a Sci Fi writer.

Anybody know what paper it ran in? What city?

      • Zee

Enough with Mormon Scott Card, already. Part of the reason I’d hoped for a Hillary vs Mittwit run this fall (besides the delight of Hillary defeating his goofy azz) was because finally Mormons would be exposed as the misogynistic freak cult they are.

  • I VOTED FOR OBAMA!

All this divisiveness is a shame. Obama has inspired a nation and provided us with something America needs right now.. HOPE, unity and a plan. Not Fear, smears and constant allegations. What kind of campaign centers it’s message on fear mongering? They want to scare you into voting for them? But you fall for it everytime, the same fear tactic they used on us to start the Iraq War. We all know how great that’s been going. How has McCain unified us? How has McCain connected with our future, the young voters? How has McCain connected with African Americans and Hispanics? How has he reassured our economic future? All I get from McCain is an earful about Bill Ayers…ACORN and now Socialism. Give me a break, I’m not a coward, McCain can’t scare me.

    • AnninCA

Well, Harding was reputed to have sired out-of-wedlock children. (false rumor)

If you can’t stand the heat, get outta the kitchen.

      That’s just politics.

      • NCgirl

It is not false rumor. Warren G. Harding had a child out-of-wedlock…a girl named Elizabeth.

        • NCgirl

Pardon me, I meant fathered a child out-of-wedlock.

    • Soldier of Christ

An earful of Bill Ayers. Child, I am from that era. And, yes, I saw the damage this man and the black panthers did to our country in the 70s. This is not a man who did things when Obama was eight years old, this is a man who is entangle with Obama’s mom’s father and Frank Davis, Obama’s mentor, who by the way was a socialist and hated America. Obama is a radical- in his heart, he will shift the wrong direction when it comes to Israel, and as a Judeo-Christian our duty is to protect the land of my G-d, but what would you know about it, you are probably another unbeliever.

    • http://Q Diana L. C.

Perhaps your sense that you are not a coward is really a sign of your total ignorance. Lemmings go willingly to their deaths. Are they also not cowards?

I don’t fear the socialism threats so much, though my grandparents fled Stalinist Russia and know how much of a threat that can be.

I don’t fear anarchists and Black Liberation theology either.

I don’t fear any of this because I do also know, having been a teacher for many years that for all the follow-the-crowd students who go with what’s the current “correct” way to think, there are as many who are true mavericks who can see and smell baloney when they’re near it.

If Obama had really united people, he would now be so far in the polls he would not be worrying at all because of the Bush years. If he had really runited Dems, 18,000,000 of us would not have voted Hillary during the primary. And we would not now have splinter groups of Democrats refusing to vote for your Messiah.

What I do fear is a con artist stealing an election and stealing the idealism of young people to use it for his own self promotion. If he is elected there will be so many crises hampering his presidency. He will still have the lawsuits to answer about all the records he refuses to give out when every other candidate I can remember has had to do that. There will still be questions and lawsuits about his actions in reqard to Rezko and his house deal. You will never stop hearing about Rezko’s slums and their connection to O. You will have to hear about his long, long connection to Ayers and, especially, to ACORN becaue you can bet that there will be a strong movement to get that corrupt and mismanaged organization off the tax payers’ payroll. You will have to hear about the movie that clearly shows the fraud he committed during the primary caucuses because it WILL come out.

My hands are tired or I would list more of the things that will plague his presidency and make him a national and international joke.

I just mailed in my ballot for McCain. I’ve voted Democrat since ’72 until now. That’s what a uniter the O is. My uncle, who has voted Democrat since before I could vote was so angry about Obama that he actually voted McCain and then voted Republican down ticket too.

I do not feel hope or change coming from O. If he wanted to make me feel that, he would have come up from Chicago having made some changes in that corrupt Democratic machine. I remember it from ’68. It’s just as bad as it ever was.

Two against one between you and me.

I just wanted to add an interesting thing about the draft thing, My daughter attends Appalachian State here in NC and in her po box at school received a postcard that said DRAFT NOTICE on it and it was for her to report to duty on Nov 4 to vote. My daughter was outraged. I am getting her to scan it in for me and I want to post it. She is registered Ind.and voting for McCain.

We can only hope more daughters in the next week receive these draft notices. That ought to do in Obama faster than any other single thing. I’ve had more young males than I can count tell me they were voting for Obama because McCain will reinstate the draft. How can we get this myth debunked with the most publicity? Does anyone have the nerve to post a diary with Obama’s comments on the draft at kos? It would cause an immediate internet riot!

The republicans have basically resorted to name calling. I’m surprised that the N-Word hasn’t slipped out yet. It’s sad to see world leaders act so childishly. Palin serves as nothing more than a smear machine. And Mccain is out of touch with reality if he thinks he’s coming back when the poles are widening with two weeks left. The McCain camp can only blame themselves for running a negative campaign during tough economic times. Us “un-pro-american” parts of the country don’t want to hear that.

Even if your man from kenya should win, America will not follow someone who may at best be an illegal alien and at worst an Islamo Fascist racist who would sacrifice his own children in his grab for power. Singing the National Anthem is not relevent to someone that believes and says the following:

From Dreams of My Father:’I ceased to advertise my mother’s race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites.’

From Dreams of My Father : ‘I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mother’s race.’

From Dreams of My Father: ‘There was something about him that made me wary, a little too sure of himself, maybe. And white.’

From Dreams of My Father: ‘It remained necessary to prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty to the black masses, to strike out and name names.’

From Dreams of My Father: ‘I never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn’t speak to my own. It was into my father’s image, the black man, son of Africa , that I’d packed all the attributes I sought in myself , the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, DuBois and Mandela.’

And FINALLY the Most Damning one of ALL of them!!!
From Audacity of Hope: ‘I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.’

Makes one wonder about which anthem he really prefers.

    • notrees

YEP! And even though we don’t yet have the Whitey Tape, Obama did write (maybe it was William Ayers) in Dreams, “A world in need, run by WHITE MENS’ GREED”. Obama attributed that as a quote from his Rev, Jeremiah Wright’s sermon of “Audacity of Hope”. Only thing is, on the original taped sermon of “Audacity of Hope”. Wright never spoke those words. Obama wrote “A world in need, run by WHITE MENS greed”. So in effect we have the Whitey Book. And he can’t change it.

    • John House

I really, really hate this meme, and I’m as far from an Obamatron as you can get.

If people are going to quote his books, quote the REALLY insidious stuff. Like his Farrakhan-like “blue eyed devils” moment (where he excoriates a black “friend” of his for wearing blue eye contacts and then goes on a rant about black self-esteem). Like how he completely ignores his mother telling him that Grandaddy Hussein Obama didn’t want her to be married to his son because “he didn’t want a white woman sullying Obama blood”. Or how Obama reprints part of Reverend Wright’s Audacity of Hope sermon where Wright calls white people greedy. THOSE are the parts of the book (his first book) that people need to be alerting others of.

  • sjc-tx

WHY!!!! do they keep insisting “obama is ‘surging’ ahead in national polls??!!! Who the hell are they polling??? Wish the f**in media would blow up… (and I mean the ayers kind…!).

    • AnninCA

Well, loads of polls out, and he’s ahead in most. One, an AP media poll has it tied. The state polls by Battleground show tightening in key states, and that’s supposed to be a fairly good poll.

But even Fox has Obama ahead by 8 points nationally right now.

      Gotta admit, that’s a “surge.”

      • AnninCA

I don’t think that’s how it works at all. What is a factor is what they project the Democratic turn-out will be.

But Zolgby said that the slant was too weighted to Dems, and he still has Obama up today, anyway.

It’s too confusing. I think the one thing everyone agrees is that the polls are so all over the map that it’s not very helpful

New Hampster, great blog. We know who loves our country. Sociopathy from the marxist left is pretty much what I have seen — like Firefly. The only reason for “spread the wealth” is to destroy the successful middle and upper-middle classes and so that the resourceful “working” classes (most of us)have no place to which to aspire.

Rev Wright at Trinity made “denying middleclassness” as one of his commandments until Obama ran for Pres and he scrubbed it. Keep them poor, keep them in low-income housing because this process provides big bucks for cronies to construct, renovate, and manage until the buildings fall apart in four years and kill a few kids. Then the corrupt process can begin all over again. And it requires new taxes or pension money. And this is only one of the sociopathic scams that Obama has been front-and-center, up-to-the-eye-balls involved in. Without one twitch of remorse or empathy. Evil!

KFaye you are prescient; now we can see clearly that Gov Sarah Palin is a declaration of independence by Maverick McCain, a wonderful breath of fresh air in the fetid swamp of the political-industrial complex. I have faith that Americans will do the right thing come November 4th. An AP poll out today shows a dead heat — and we know the polls are twisted for Obama.

Soldier4Hillary, Patsy, I have been reading your articles and comments since I began reading blogs this year (TM, as thoughtfulvetting). I have been deeply moved and excellently informed by them. CNN could have chosen no better. Congratulations to you and hooray for us! Thanks to Larry Johnson for this site.

the polls are scatter shot. I could give a fuck less. A rats ass. About the polls.
It is not over until all the votes are cast and the REAL polls close.
Obama has spent close to a billion dollars and cannot stay at 50% or get the endecided’s under 10% in most polls.
We all know who undecided went for in the primary right? We all know the polls were off in the primary right?
We all know that Senator Government is a horrible finisher, even with fraud he could not close the deal.
Mac is an excellent finisher. His message is taking hold. Palin is drawing monster crowds. Americans are afraid of Senator Barry Big Government, i know. I have spoke with random Dems in my area who WILL NOT vote for him, they are petrified of him.

The only poll i am worried about is the election poll. That is why i am a volunteer. Go volunteer. You will see how folks feel in the real world.
Not the propaganda 3rd dimension the MSM and elite cocktail circuit riders live in.

“stand up,stand up, stand up and fight. Nothing is inevitable here.”
” I am an american and i choose to fight.”

    John S. McCain

oh and Palin’s speech on women was awesome. She nailed Obama for not paying equal pay, saying she knows a senator who does. “john McCain.”

‘As I’ve said about the flag pin, I don’t want to be perceived as taking sides, ‘Obama said. ‘There are a lot of people in the world to whom the American flag is a symbol of oppression. And the anthem itself conveys a war-like message.

Earth to Barry: As POTUS you are required to TAKE SIDES. OUR SIDE. If you want to go fight oppression, go to Afganistan and stand up to the Taliban. Oh, wait. They’re you bros and we are the enemy. You lying piece of crap.

I am an (IBEW) union electrician from Pittsburgh and have been a democrat for 22 years. I’ve voted for Dukakis, Bill Clinton-twice, Gore, Kerry and Hillary in the PA primary… BUT.. Why can’t I stand Obama? I really do not think it is racial. I just REALLY resent him. Is he as smarmy and arrogant as I see him? Or is it his wife? Or is it his relationships with bad characters and his lying about it?? I cannot put my finger on it. I have put a Democrats for McCain sticker on my work truck, I wear a McCain button at work, I have a McCain yard sign. I heard the words “spread the wealth” and want to scream…. I think the Obama camp has moved me from a MODERATE democrat to a conservative republican, even though it is probably NOT in my best interest….. WHY?

Love these stories! I was a registered and passionate Democrat for 20 years, but the treatment of Hillary in the primaries, the harassment and attacks on Hillary supporters, and the DNC cronies worshiping at the throne of the great fraud Obama pushed me across the aisle. I registered as a Republican this summer and mailed my ballot in this week voting McCain/Palin and a straight Republican ticket.

Now that the Democratic Party has been taken over by extremists, I’m done with it.

I think you have “put your finger on it”; those all look like valid reasons to me.

I can’t get over, nor will I forget the despicable smear campaign Barry et al waged on the Clintons, depicting Hillary as a serial liar and ultimately both Clintons as racists.

Add to that Barry’s lying about his past, flipping on key issues for political gain, and especially his many associations with radicals – the man is certainly not to be trusted.

    • http://mbc MBC

Hey Mrwirez, what’s your feel for JMc’s chances here in PA? I am here too, going to see Sarah Palin at the Beaver High School tomorrow. Sean Hannity is supposed to be doing his show from there. Will be carrying my Another Democrat for McCain sign.

      • Mrwirez

KDKA tv and radio in Pittsburgh has said western PA will go McCain according to internal polling. The rural “T”… (the Alabama parts of PA) that is central PA and across the northern tier of PA will go McCain. Philly alone cannot carry Obama, the places to watch are around Scranton in Lackawanna County, Wilkes Barre and the Philly SUBURBS. Hillary Clinton won Scranton, she also won 61 out of 67 counties and walloped Obama. There are many seniors here and they are afraid of Obama.

Pittsburgh is a deer hunting, blue collar, mountainous, moderate to conservative area. McCain will do well in Western PA. I see way more McCain signs and pins than Obama by far…. and he is the one with all the money.. My gut tells me McCain 51-49%. The union tradesman are going for McCain. Steelers owner Dan Rooney and some Steelers went to the Steelworkers union hall for a rally on Saturday…. about fifty men showed up out of thousands of steelworkers. It was embarrassing for them.

Btw I predicted Hillary would win by 10% and she actually won by 9.7%. I also picked Kerry in 2004 -52-48% and it was 51-49%… So my gut is usually pretty close in PA elections.

Both my father-in-law and brother-in-law are IBEW brothers in the SF bay area. All the biggest and most impressive buildings, transportation, and city projects are completed by the IBEW. My father in law used to run projects that everyone wanted to work on because they got the job done right the first time while having fun. He had some great stories.

You are in good company here and will get answers to all those questions that aren’t answered elsewhere.

That is the thing, Obama can’t fool people who really listen. Most people hear all the goodies or Democratic hot buttons, yet ignore the last statement that negates everything he just said.

As far as your concerns, I would say all of the upbove. There is a probelm with the whole package. Everywhere you look he has some issue that is a deal breaker. Add them all up and the picture gets even worse.

If you have any questions on any topic, most people here have an answer and are happy to help.

As a lifelong Democrats, this will be our first time voting for a Republican. Both my husband and I came to the conclusion on our own. So you are not alone on that front either. Many of the people here are Democrats who put country before party.

You’re welcome here. When I was working outside the home in WA state I was required to join the union – closed shop. That also meant voting Democrat.

Well, times have changed for me and so has my vote. Obama is the most disingenuous POS politician to come along in my lifetime. That includes Bush Jr.

When Obama engineered the takeover of the dem party, he effectively bet on a bunch of “revolutionary” kids to get off their cheeto stained couches and vote for him. The inexperienced voting for the inexperienced.

Glad to see the kid got to sing for the next president. The cancellation was just Obamanable. After 30 years of voting Dem for president, I voted for McCain today. Unfortunately, I live in Chicago, so voting for the Republican is a little like _issing in the wind. Going to Ohio soon to help McCain get elected there. If any of you have the opportunity to help out in a swing state, please do.

As for Biden’s gaffe, I don’t think it’s the draft he’s talking about. He said a “generated crisis.”
To me that signals that he knows the joint chiefs are going to present Obama with scenario where he’s going to have to “grow a pair” and bomb someone. People are going to die, some on our side, and there goes his whole Kumbaya worldview. End of honeymoon as he finds out that often times presidents have very little wiggle room.

Bottom line: people will die for one reason and one reason only. Obama is perceived as weak and will have to prove otherwise. And if he doesn’t MORE OF US OUR SIDE WILL DIE LATER.

    • Brendy

Sleepless – in other words the democrats who SO badly want Obama to win are going to use ALL OF US, the WHOLE nation, as a guinea pig to test the “newbie’s” inexperience??? This ‘experiment’, err..crisis MIGHT put ALL (includes you Obots, too)of our lives at risk just so the ‘newbie’ can get some ‘on the job training’?

Biden told the Obama donors that his (Obama’s) decision (whatever it will be) might not be popular OR the RIGHT THING TO DO, but he asks that his (Obama’s) supporters stand behind him – EVEN IF THAT INVOLVES GETTING A LOT OF INNOCENT PEOPLE KILLED due to his making the WRONG decision? It sounds to me like Biden ALREADY thinks Obama will make WRONG decisions.

Wonder if some of those same supporters would still ‘stand behind’ Obama if any of their relatives/friends were tragically affected by his decision?

People are afraid to talk. Is it Gallup calling or the Obama campaign pollster? Who needs the confrontation? Who wants to be called a racist? So, what happens? People are hanging up or saying they’re voting with Obama. When I went to the polls today I told my wife that if anybody asks, we’re voting for Obama. I don’t dare put a sign in front of my house or a sticker on my car. Not here in Chicago! Obama hasn’t even won and I’ve lost some of my first amendment freedom. And what really pisses me off is that O’Reilly had his chance but the bloviating buffon blew it. I’m a former TV news reporter — 10 years in Washington, DC — and I guarantee you I’d have nailed Obama. But Bill is too much into hearing his own voice. For Bill, it’s never about the story. It’s how Bill can promote himself. Geez, I don’t know how they fit those two egos in the same room. And to make matters worse Bill goes on to say that he took the measure of the man and found him to be “strong.” Yeah, right. Reminds me of Bush looking into Putin’s soul. And we all now how that turned out!

          • Karma

            I agree.

Bill is still pumping that interview which accomplished very little. The only thing he got Obama to really say was about the surge.

Which was really the only talking point for the McCain/Palin camp they could use.

That half hour interview could have been legendary if he had any spine.

Too bad it wasn’t someone like you who wants real answers not some tepid dance between blowhards.

          • Goblintrain

Yes, i get disgusted every time i hear him bring that up again. He seems to have been in the tank for “Kill that Baby!” Obama ever since too. After last Thursday, when O’reilly said Senator Commie was an honest man, i just turned off his show & will never turn it on again. You are correct: Bill doesn’t report a story, he just promotes himself. Same deal with his Barney Frank interview: no one remembers Frank being deservedly discredited & disgraced as he should have been; they only remember Oreilly grand standing. O’reilly again had that perfect opportunity to actually serve the public, but he made it all about himself instead. I can only guess that the reason he respects “Kill that Baby” Obama so much is that he has finally met an ego that surpasses his own. Sadly, while i probably agree with O’ on more issues than not, i think his show has turned into a joke.

HillBuzz provided a few very useful posts on
how to really read polls critically and intelligently
    – by analyzing (for example) the party ID sample in the poll data so that you can unmask the myths and
    distortions yourself.

This document is now a bit long as they have
    compiled several postings into one.

But it is worth the review.

    http://hillbuzz.wordpress.com/about/

Pse don’t let the length be a block.

The reading is easy, light and certainly humorous,
even if you recognize yourself in the well deserved
    admonitions.

This more recent post dealt with an insider tip on “why polls are skewed”:

Is anyone else a little worried about Obama’s big speech on the 29th. He has the ability to deliver a great speech- and I’m afraid it may swing a lot of undecideds his way a week before the election.

I’m also ver concerned that he has already built up a sizealbe lead in early voting. Early voting is overwhelmingly favoring Obama.

I spent the day making calls and had a voter tell me…….get this……an adult who is voting……..”I’m voting all Democrat” and when I asked what issues were important, he chose an issue not on my list…he said “abortion, I am pro life”….I said you’re voting for the Democratic ticket and you say because you’re prolife? When I said you realize they all support abortion don’t you? He said, “no, I’m in the dark, my friends just told me to vote for him”.
