CNN’s Shame in Smearing Sarah Palin * Evening Open Thread

This story not only outraged me, it made me sick to my stomach. WTF is going on with the mainstream media?!?!? I felt so badly for Sarah Palin, who was genuinely baffled. And that damn CNN interviewer had no clue what he was quoting or whose writing he was citing.

This is shoddy journalism of the worst sort: It is not only cruel, it is inept, ignorant and lazy journalism. Don’t “journalists” do their homework anymore? Especially those who make it as far as CNN and have the opportunity to interview a vice-presidential candidate?

For the record, here is the article by Byron York: “How Palin Governed.” The subtitle of York’s article is “Behind all the criticism and controversy, what really happened.” In other words, his story is NOT about how the media have treated Governor Palin, but is his effort to push aside all the trivia and denigrating remarks in order to take stock of Governor Palin as a leader. Take note of the National Review editor’s preface:

Editor’s note: Byron York’s recent article in National Review on Sarah Palin’s time as governor of Alaska became a campaign issue Tuesday when CNN’s Drew Griffin distorted its meaning in a high-profile interview with Palin. CNN’s problems aside, what was the story really about? And what did it say about Palin’s readiness for office? Now, for the first time, York’s article is available on the web.

BELOW the fold are some quotes from York’s article:

From York’s article:

… Watching press coverage of the Republican candidate for vice president, it’s sometimes hard to decide whether Sarah Palin is incompetent, stupid, unqualified, corrupt, backward, or — or, well, all of the above. Palin, the governor of Alaska, has faced more criticism than any vice-presidential candidate since 1988, when Democrats and the press tore into Dan Quayle. In fact, Palin may have it even worse than Quayle, since she’s taking flak not only from Democrats and the press but from some conservative opinion leaders as well.

[...]

Yes, there are legitimate concerns about Palin’s lack of experience. Who wouldn’t, at the very least, wish that she had more time in the governor’s office on her résumé? But a look at Palin’s 20 months in power, along with interviews with people who worked with her, shows her to be a serious executive, a governor who picked important things to do and got them done — and who didn’t just stumble into an 80 percent job-approval rating.

THE PALIN PIPELINE
The top issue of the 2006 Alaska governor’s race was whether, and how, to build a pipeline to bring the estimated 35 trillion cubic feet of natural gas under Alaska’s North Slope to market. Palin’s Republican predecessor, Frank Murkowski — a man who had spent nearly 22 years in the U.S. Senate before becoming governor — wanted to make a deal with three big oil companies, Exxon Mobil, BP, and Conoco Phillips.

A lot of critics, including Palin, thought Murkowski’s proposed deal gave too much to the companies. For one thing, it called for Alaska to relinquish its right to tax the pipeline, and instead agree to a series of payments from the oil companies — payments that would be locked in for as long as 45 years. In addition, the deal would have rewritten leases and other regulatory devices that the state normally controls. It was an unprecedented proposal, representing sweeping changes from the traditional way of doing business — and not to the state’s advantage.

Palin defeated Murkowski in the primary, and went on to win the governorship, on a platform of throwing out the old deal and starting fresh. Once in office, she was deeply involved in making that happen. “She had four principles she wanted to bring to the process,” says Joe Balash, who served as Palin’s special assistant for energy issues. “One, to have competition. Two, to have clear and objective measures of progress, because with a massive project like that it’s going to be years before any dirt turns. Three, there had to be a commitment to expansion [the pipeline would have to be big enough to handle more gas in the future]. And four, it had to be done without surrendering the state’s sovereignty.”

It was a big, and extraordinarily complex, task. There was no consensus on how it should be done. But Palin, by all accounts, assembled a first-rate group of people to come up with what eventually became a proposal to grant a license to the company TransCanada to build the pipeline. “I give her credit for hiring good people,” says Beth Kerttula, the Democratic minority leader in the Alaska house of representatives who worked with Palin on oil and gas issues and has lately emerged as one of Palin’s leading critics. “She had a strong team.”

There were times during the negotiations when it appeared Palin’s proposal would fall through, perhaps not even getting to a vote in the legislature. Associates say she was determined to prevent that. “She went literally from office to office asking that, regardless of how people intended to vote, that they permit a vote to take place,” Balash recalls. “If she hadn’t made those visits, it in all likelihood would never have come to a vote.”

And when she made those visits, she scored points with legislators of both parties. “On the issues where I worked with her, she listened, and in the long run, she even overrode her own team on things that House Democrats thought were important,” Kerttula recalls. Last summer, Palin’s strategy led to victory, when Alaska’s house and senate approved the TransCanada proposal.

Noting that Palin had also, in 2007, won a fight to raise taxes on the energy companies, the Anchorage Daily News reported that the pipeline deal “sealed the popular Republican governor’s second major victory in two years against not only her opponents in the Legislature but also major oil companies Palin sometimes has poked publicly.” Her approval rating soared.

RUFFLING A TON OF FEATHERS
Palin’s other top priority was an overhaul of the state’s ethics laws. It became something of a signature issue for her. In 2003, after she served as mayor of Wasilla and had run unsuccessfully for lieutenant governor, she was appointed to chair the state Oil and Gas Conservation Commission. While there, she became convinced that fellow commissioner Randy Ruedrich, the head of the Alaska Republican party, was conducting party business on the commission’s time. Palin filed an ethics complaint against Ruedrich, leading to a long and contentious investigation. In 2004, Ruedrich admitted guilt and agreed to pay a $12,000 fine, which was the largest such punishment ever in Alaska. …

Obviously CNN knows that if she could take on Exxon, she might just go after GE, the largest War Profiteer we have. CNN has been afte her all day today. They said she was a drag on McCain’s ticket. In truth, its just the opposite. We need that Washington outsider to get to Washington a hell of alot more than we want to see Biden run his mouth and help the credit card companies more.

LOOK AT THIS CRAP FROM YAHOO NEWS:

    A Drag on the Ticket?

Old conventional political wisdom dictates that vice presidential picks don’t change the outcome of a race. When Sarah Palin received larger fanfare than John McCain a month ago, the pundits cautioned, “people vote for President, not for Vice President.”

Well, vice presidential candidates may not win elections, but this year it’s looking increasingly likely that Sarah Palin may help lose one.

In an NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll released last night, the number one concern about McCain was Palin’s perceived lack of qualifications.

    Today Show/NBC News graphic

This morning, NBC’s Political Director Chuck Todd explained McCain’s “Palin problem”:

“Speaking of Palin, her numbers have plummeted in our poll. For the first time, she has a net-negative fav/unfav rating (38%-47%), the only principal [candidate] to carry that distinction. What’s more, 55% think she’s unqualified to serve as president if the need arises, which is a troublesome number given McCain’s age. (Have worries about McCain’s age risen because of Palin? Seems to be the case).”

Other polls reflect this perception problem for the McCain/Palin camp as well. Pew released its latest poll that echoes many of the NBC/WSJ’s findings about voters’ perceptions of Palin and their effect on McCain. Pew’s headline doesn’t mention Palin specifically — “Growing Doubts About McCain’s Judgment, Age and Campaign Conduct” — but it has this telling observation in the write-up:

“Notably, opinions of Palin have a greater impact on voting intentions than do opinions of Joe Biden, Obama’s running mate.”

Then ABC pulls McCain’s poll problems together with this nugget explaining its most recent poll: “Fallout continues from McCain’s pick of Sarah Palin for vice president, with 52 percent saying it weakens their confidence in his judgment.”

Obviously, the McCain people aren’t loving this and Politico reports that the candidate himself says he’s “amazed” by the reaction to his VP pick. Politico writes:

“She is a governor, the most popular governor in America,” McCain said. “I think she is the most qualified of any that has run recently for vice president.”

“I’m amazed. I’m amazed. Which is better? Serve 35 years in the United States Senate and say you’ve got to divide Iraq into three different countries, or be governor of a state and a reformer and give people their tax dollars back and bring about reform in the way that your state does business? Which is better?”

Palin buzz — good and bad — has lit up the Internet over the past 24 hours. Our friends at Yahoo! Buzz have the details.

  • janetintexas

Well, I sure hope Palin knows NOW that the reporter misled her regarding the CONTEXT of that article.

And CNN – wow – ever since Ted Turner sold it, it has continually gone downhill, but this is really low, especially since they seem to be in the business of making up news now instead of actually reporting it.

    Thanks for this, Susan!

So much in the last few days has open my eyes anew as to how the only way to “pay” for healthcare is to live in poverty. And it is by design. Nobody in thier right mind would throw up so many road blocks to having a child born and not leaving the hospital in the hole for 1000′s of dollars they have no way of paying. Unless they are poor.

What I have seen is an economic structure that prevents the extended family from being a part of the solution financially.

If looking at the way Obama conducted himself in the 313 and the role the him his friends played, it is easy to see Obama needs and is counting on the cycle of poverty to continue.

But the last couple weeks of Palin scrutiny — the attention that has gotten while totally ignoring investigation of Obama — who paid his way through Harvard? to whom is he indebted? who will his handlers be, etc? — has decided that McCain Palin will definitely be getting my vote!

How does the CNN “journalist” quote a magazine without attributing the story to a particular author? The only articles that run without a byline in a national publication are from writers on a byline strike. This tells me that the CNN “reporter” is:

to be honest about it you are a fool to post this. john mccain never said that he was in favor of increasing taxes on higher income people to give the money to peole not working in the form of a government check. obama’s tax plan raises taxes on one group of people and gives money(in the form of a government check) to another group of people who do not pay any federal taxes and that is socialism. most democrats and republicans in this country do not mind paying taxes for roads, schools, the military, food stamps ect. but to give CASH to people who do not even pay any federal income taxes is approaching a socialist society that over 80% of america is very against(in a zogby poll).

I would question why NBC, MSNBC, whatever is polling so much on Sarah Palin… and clearly they’re asking questions that’ll generate a negative response just so they can pretend to be reporting real “news”? She’s not running for President. Yet the coverage would make you think she’s running against BO. With Palin continuing to draw crowds in the 1000′s that rival BO’s, the MSM must be worried she can bring the republican base out and they don’t want that. So they are attacking her nonstop about anything and everything.

Where’s the background info on Biden? I don’t know a damn thing about him other than he’s occupied space in the senate for a very long time. But what does he have to show for it? I’m more interested in quality not quantity of service. The MSM isn’t digging into his background.

Well, here’s an excellent article in WSJ today in defense of Gov Palin:http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122471822552260585.html

The stoning of Sarah Palin has exposed enough cultural fissures in American politics to occupy strategists full-time until 2012. We now see there is a left-to-right elite centered in New York, Washington, Hollywood and Silicon Valley who hand down judgments of the nation’s mortals from their perch atop the Bell Curve.

It seems only yesterday that the most critical skill in presidential politics was being able to connect to people in places like Bronko’s bar or Saddleback Church. When Gov. Palin showed she excelled at that, the goal posts suddenly moved and the new game was being able to talk the talk in London, Paris, Tehran or Moscow. She looks about a half-step behind Sen. Obama on that learning curve.

Lorne Michaels, the executive producer of “Saturday Night Live,” lives on the forward wave of American life. This week he gave his view of Sarah Palin to EW.com: “I think Palin will continue to be underestimated for a while. I watched the way she connected with people, and she’s powerful. Her politics aren’t my politics. But you can see that she’s a very powerful, very disciplined, incredibly gracious woman. This was her first time out and she’s had a huge impact. People connect to her.”

I find it odd that the media isn’t complaining about how much Michelle Obama’s snacks have cost the Dems considering the outrage over Sarah Palin’s clothes. If for only 182 days (roughly half a year) the campaign has been picking up the tab for just her snacks the cost would have been $86,814. I calculated this on snacks being $477 a day (couldn’t remember if the cost for an afternoon snack for the beast was $447 or $477) Can you even begin to estimate the cost to feed her 3 meals a day plus snacks? Can we afford to feed her if Obama is elected? What will the national debt balloon to with 4 years of such greed and excess?

This is really far-fetched. I saw a picture of Obamas half brother George from Kenya and there is a strong resemblance…

    Unless George is Franks too?

    I doubt it…

McCain and Palin need to keep hitting at the wealth distribution spoken by Obama to Joe the Plummer.

This youtube video about Margaret Thatcher’s relationship with the Conservative establishment seems timely given the the reaction of effete conservative snobs like Peggy Noonan and George Will to Sarah Palin.

They just don’t like people who get things done and are from the ‘wrong’ class.

That’s because Clinton’s DNA was critical to the perjury case against him. Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear that proving your citizenship or, least important, your paternal lineage for proving qualification of a presidential nominee. That’s sad, as the minimal proof of evidence should be the BC. His refusal to provide the BC smells to high heaven to say the least. Any ideas from fellow attorneys would be greatly appreciated.

The MSM treatment of Sarah Palin is disgraceful and it’s making many people VERY angry. Hopefully that anger will translate into votes for the McCain/Palin ticket.

I’d like to propose some categories and recommend some winners (retroactively:

    1. “I’m a Journalist & You’re Not Gotcha Strategies” for Charles Gibson
    2. “Xtreme Pettiness” for Andrea Mitchell (for her work as a part-time fashion police officer)
    3. “IM2LAZ Analysis” for Drew Griffin
    4. “Clever Distortions” (This is a tough choice–there are just so many eligible journalists to choose from.) How about Katie “Go-back-2-morning T.V.-before-it’s-too-late” Couric.

NQ is a better vetting news organization than CNN and all of the MSN. Here we open each story with a challenge for anyone and everyone to take on every and any word we publish.

We published the $800K that absolutely connected O with ACORN and the detractors said we were nuts, until it was obvious we were not. We talked about Ayers when everyone believed he was just a guy in the hood, until it was obvious he was more.

When this campaign is over NQ might end up the only place that Edward R. “so long, and good luck” Murrow would work. I take great liberty in altering his words and saying:

I pray you to believe what I have said about Obama. I have reported what I saw and heard, but only part of it. For most of it I have no words…If I’ve offended you by this rather mild account of Obama, I’m not in the least sorry.

    Let us pray for America.

  • pm317

Susan, I am appalled at the incompetence (he didn’t know who wrote it) and the eagerness to smear by quoting such a bad quote without the context — what he quoted was so bad, didn’t he stop to check if they really said that? It’s because she’s a woman. Would anyone do this to a man? Seriously?

ERA is coming back in 2008. Obama will hate it because he only pays his female staff 83 cents on the dollar. For those of us who were on that Satuarday call with McCain a few months back, he said the reason he didn’t vote for the bill was hidden pork. By the time the bills get up to vote, they are so filled with other stuff… BUT… he said to look at how he pays and promotes his staff… Women MAKE more in a McCain staff.

Actions speak louder than… “JUST WORDS! Just speeches!”

The NY Post retracted that story (just for the sake of accuracy). However, it is absolutely ridiculous that Sarah’s wardrobe is news fodder. Just as Cindy McCains American Express bills made the MSM news everywhere. Just like every detail (true or not) of Joe the plumbers life was all over within 24 hours.

The media is saying “pay no attention to the man behind the curtain”. They do everything they can to divert any serious scrutiny of their Precious. No questions about the illegal fundraising of the BO campaign, Ayers, Wright, Rezco, his prevarications, no questions about anything substantial since that ABC debate that he whined about cuz he actually got a couple of hardballs.

The cost of Sarah’s wardrobe? Give me a freakin break. The Obama’s are the ones living large (I mean charging the media for access at his big election night LOSER party)?

I called Drew Griffin. The woman at CNN was of course symbolic of who these people are…I said “May I speak to Drew Girffin please?” She screamed at me. Like what do we people all want, he’s “out in the field.” She was sooo horrible. I wanted to tell her who I actually speak to every day of my life, as opposed to getting screamed at and demeaned by the secretary at Communist News Network. When Barack Obama’s campaign needed a base for harvesting votes from the southern precincts of Philadelphia, it set up shop in a building owned and managed by controversial real estate baron Kenny Gamble. Also known as Luqman Abdul Haqq, Gamble holds a senior position with the Muslim Alliance in North America (MANA), whose founding is traced to a convicted cop-killer and whose leadership is stacked with radicals. He likewise serves as a community organizer of sorts — one who has been accused of slowly transforming his neighborhood into a “black Muslim enclave.”

  • SJ

What is truly amazing is that the eyes of the world are on us with this election, and to be honest this election has been the dirtiest in all I have ever witnessed.

The media has run this woman through the coals, is she not a holder of high office, is she not the governor of Alaska? Most of all is she not an American a daughter of the soil, when our media can do this to one of our own what do some of you expect the media on the outside to do to our leaders if they ever have a chance to?

I don’t know if its Obama’s money, or the promise of special things to some if he gets elected but this election is sure one for the books, and I am wise enough to come to my own conclusion that this sudden love for a virtual unknown running for President has to have something else behind it.

This loyalty by the media to Obama is not just because they like him, and want him to do well, no the movers and shakers in the back ground are sitting and waiting to cash in on the goods if he does get elected, so they are doing all that they can to keep everyone else out of the picture.

I see dark days ahead of us, the economy is in a mess and will be that way for a long time, business does not trust Obama and people can fancy that up all they want once Obama is in the lead the market will tank.

Now there is also talk of a draft where all shall serve, so much for being against war and I would love to see how the anti war groups handle this if Obama wins and calls out a draft. As for the rich they will leave these shore for Europe and other places they are not going to let Obama take their wealth and as he said make an opportunity for others

All in all I just cant see how Obama can be this popular when all the facts are there for all to see, maybe American are now all dumb but whatever it is we will all pay the price of this blunder if Obama wins this election.

  • Patience

It’s so obvious that Obama and his champions in the media have an irrational fear of Sarah Palin. They absolutely cannot control themselves which is ironic, because they’re trying their very best to control US and it isn’t working. The harder they try the more they fail.

I actually laugh at the TV as they “report” trivialities with such grave and concerned expressons on their faces. I just saw David Gaggin’ — I mean Gergen — on CNN talking about “Troopergate”. Does anyone besides me think he’s the Potted Plant of Pundits???

These media folk need to get away and breath a little fresh air, meet some new people, get a different perspective, etc. They’re self destructing before our very eyes.

  • http://www.wewillnotbesilenced2008.com OBAMA IS A FRAUD

My God I just looked up all the stuff about Frank Davis IN HIS OWN WORDS talking about how he and his wife “seduced a 13 year old girl named Anne.” Ughh…Of course that’s probably Obama’s mother Anne Dunham. WTH is going on around here? This is the most bizarre, psycho story coming from the libby side. Nothing is above board. It’s all junkie, drugs, sex with children, freaky people like Ayers, Khalid Al Monsour, etc. Obama has the strangest, criminal, felon, pedophile, terrorist, sick religious wing nut, creeps, azzholes and America haters for friends, family and mentors. It just gets worse every day. What is it going to TAKE to get America to vote for two people with FAMILY VALUES, honesty, integrity, experience, love of America, etc. as opposed to this really deranged cast of lunatics and criminals? WTH?

Turning them off is the worse, specially if you pay for cable. Advertisers really don’t care if you write to them. But they want you to watch their ads. There is a correlation but in today’s world it is not strong anymore. Those times when advertisers reacted to viewer’s letters are gone.

I have a theory about what might be going on, so please chime in. The media had left Sarah alone for a few days then BAM, they start up again on her, now this all came around the time that Joe Biden’s SCARY remarks came out which the Communist News Network(CNN) and MSNBC tried so hard to ignore and edited it pretty well, instead of showing the FULL tape, Ok so back to what I was saying, I think they are attacking Sarah again now because they know Obama’s poll numbers are starting to tank, they saw the AP article which shows McCain and Obama tied, they see that that other poll which is always pretty reliable that shows McCain within 3, my opinion, they know Obama is in trouble, especially with what Joe said, so they are using Sarah to try to deflect focus off of Joe Biden’s comments. Obama must be in trouble otherwise they wouldn’t bother. Ya know I am SO upset over this, what has happened to the media, it is the USSR, what the hell happened, it’s like McCain has to beat Obama and the media too. Ya know, I just hope that Sarah wins, so that she can go in front of the media and tell them all to go F themselves, now THAT is worth seeing. This isn’t journalism what we are saying, we are all seeing rats in a maze going around and around trying to find the cheese, journalism, TRUE journalism died a long time ago, it just took some of us til now to figure it out

I think that some Americans do think that Palin is not ready to be President yet. Base republicans are thrilled but democrats and independents fear that he might die too soon for her to learn everything se needs to know. McCain should promise to serve to full terms. This will ease the fears of democrats and independents and liberal republicans.

  • John Smith

I can almost grantee that. My wife was not a supporter of hers but after what people said abut her and attacked her personally, my wife actually supports her now. I am sure this is happening every where. She wants her to get into office just to shut does people up. I was a life long democrat and I am voting straight republican.

  • socalannie

When I first heard this, I thought it was bullshit; however, barky does resemble FMD more than BHOsr. Look at the pix of FMD, look at his upper lip, he has a distinctly shaped upper lip with a line down the center. So does Barry. BHOsr, from some pix I saw of him, does not.

Ridiculous, I know, probably not true. Still…

Couple that with Barack Obama’s attendance at the Million Man March organized by Louis Farrakhan, attended by Obama and his pastor Jeremiah Wright, where hundreds of thousands of black men came together for a cause in Washington, D.C.

    And, I wonder.

Is it too late and too insane?

To gather a Million Women (and kindred souls) on the Mall in Washington, D.C. on one day between now and November 4th.

Organized by the RNC, PUMA, No Quarter and Team Sarah?

    Who would go?

I would (uh, I’m not a woman but am a proud member of Team Sarah and a recovering HRC supporter). We’d need permits and sleeping bags but I’m more than willing.

    Too nuts?

    Or, just nuts enough?

I feel sorry for him he’s one humongous psychopathy…

You know — I feel the same way.

But, like you said, it’s another reason I fear his presidency.

We had 8 years of Bush working out his Daddy issues. We don;t need a liberal version of GW.

However, this possibly that Frank Davis is his pops makes a lot of pieces fall into place.

    - His mother sent him back to Hawaii to live with his grandparents when he was 9.

    - Shortly after, his grandfather introduces him to Frank Marshall Davis, so Davis could be an African American mentor (why would Grandpa even know Davis?)

    - He goes to a pricey prep school while his mother is on foodstamps, maybe Davis paid the tuition?

    - He finds his way to Chicago where Davis launched his caeer as an activist.

Hmmm. The dots do indeed connect.

  • socalannie

There are great pix of all three men on hillaryclintonforum. Check out Frank Marshall Davis’ upper lip–distinctly shaped with a line right down the center. Barry has the same shape & the line down the center. Now check out one of the photos of BHOsr. He doesn’t have it. I can’t believe I’m commenting on a crazy conspiracy theory, but the truth is, Barry does look more like FMD.

Your a liar. Not surprising your master is also.

Do you have empirical evidence the tax increases arent going to be used specifically for payments to people who don’t pay taxes. What an asinine argument He is increasing taxes while expanding free payments to people who dont pay taxes. Before the messiah redefined this to mean “tax cut” it was called welfare. Rolling back is bullshit. it’s a tax increase. plain and simple. the taxes are 35% now if they go up it’s a tax increase. always has been. can’t redefine words just to fit your little lies.

As far as Barry being a socialist , the fact that he was a part of the socialist party, signed an agreement pledge with the socialist party, sought and received the endorsement of the socialist party in Chicago is all the proof most right thinking people would need to call him a socialist. Got the quotes and the pictures. “No where close to being a socialist” HA! You are uninformed and clearly an obot.

    THE TRUTH IS COMING OUT
BARRY’S FATHER TAUGHT HIM HOW TO DO A COMMUNIST TAKEOVER
    http://www.contributors.blogsome.com/2008/10/09/god-bless-you-marion-valentine/

THE FBI CALLED IT THE DAVIS PLAN (this was written before Mr. Valentine knew about Davis being Barry’s father)

Barack Obama Groomed By New Party Radicals For Socialist Puppet Regime

The following is an article written as a comment by one of our visitors, Marion Valentine. Marion is a shining example of a very rare breed these days — a true American Patriot.

The Davis Plan and Connections to Obama

In 1963, while serving in Navy Intelligence (from 1958-1967), I read the FBI file on Frank Marshall Davis. He had outlined the Communist plan to take over America from within, by installing educators at all levels of our EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM, gaining control of the MEDIA, getting LIBERAL JUDGES appointed, recruiting, training and backing people to be elected to public office.

I have researched every piece of legislation I can find that the Liberal Democrats have passed since the early sixties, and if you will research for yourself, you will find that they have been slowly moving this country towards Socialism.

When Obama announced he was running for President as an unknown with only one major speech at the DNC (that the DNC and MSM made so much fuss over), he aroused my old Intel suspicions. So I started researching.

I have not found any evidence to convince me he is a Muslim, but I did find his radical associations were unusual. I found that Frank Marshall Davis, who had fled from Chicago to Hawaii in 1958 because of the FBI investigation, met Obama in Hawaii when Obama was 12 years old, and was Obama’s mentor from then till Davis died in 1987.

Davis put Obama in touch with the Socialist Party in Chicago (called the New Party) which Ayers is also a member of, therefore the first “Planned” contact with Ayres. The New Party helped launch and finance Obama’s political Career. Obama…..selected, trained, groomed, and scripted to become the “puppet” leader of the United Socialist States of America.

Since I am in the 4th and final stage of congestive heart failure and will be lucky to live long enough to see the next President take office, why should this election matter to me? Why does Obama’s statement, that he wants a “National Civilian Security Force” as strong and as well-funded as our military (conjuring up images of the old-style USSR police state) matter to me?

    IT’S SIMPLE… I LOVE AMERICA

  • NOBAMA2

It’s obvious to me that Barry is the son of Davis, and he doesn’t want the fact that he’s perpetuated a knowing fantasmagorical fictional LIE of intrigue and psychopathy for decades to be known…

So let’s say he IS a US Citizen, just also an Indonesian Citizen. We won’t have proof of that outside of a birth certificate (vault) or a DNA test.
I say let’s offer destitute Nairobi George $1,000 for some spit and compare that to an 0bama restaurant fork after he eats a slice of that pie he’s always talking about. DNA does not lie.

Maybe he was planning on winning the election, then revealing his birth certificate with the fact that Frank Marshall Davis was his listed father, or no father…hoping that forging the COLB is forgivable etc.

THE PROBLEM IS DAVIS WAS A RUSSIAN SPY AND COMMUNIST AND AUTHOR OF WHAT THE FBI CALLED “THE DAVIS PLAN” FOR A COMMUNIST TAKEOVER OF AMERICA.
DAVIS INTRO’D BARRY TO CHICAGO AND AYERS, AND THAT’S WHY HE WENT TO OCCIDENTAL AND COLUMBIA.
BARRY IS FOLLOWING DAVIS’ PLAN TO A “T” AND PLANS TO DISTRUBUTE AMERICA’S WEALTH WORLDWIDE, NOT EVEN JUST IN-COUNTRY, AND TO RUN AYER’S NEOSTALINIST REVOLUTION WHERE AYERS PRESCRIBES EXECUTING 25 MILLION AMERICANS WHO CANNOT BE REEDUCATED IN CONCENTRATION CAMPS (FBI INTERVIEWS WITH WEATHER UNDERGROUND)

Right now with no proof this is just a very nasty smear like what was done to Palin with baby Trig being her daughter’s baby. Just reading all these comments is making me ill, the same as it did with Sarah and her family.

His mother is not here to defend herself. She’s done nothing to any of us. Yes, I see an uncanny resemblence to him and FMD. That could happen with any child and another family. But, this feels like this is being done as a revenge type thing and I don’t think we should allow ourselves to be drug down to their level.

My mother in law used to say it’s a lot easier for someone to drag you down, than it is for you to pick someone up. Even if it’s true Mr. Martin nor any of us have a right to tell Obama he needs to take a DNA test. If he believe’s BO Sr. was his father then so be it. I question his adoption, I question whether or not a father is listed on his BC because it was 1961. I am not going to question who his mother was sleeping with, that’s just cruel. There are plenty of other things to question Obama about.

  • johnqpublic

Palin has accomplished great things, while Obama has continued to make empty promises that the world owes you a living.

  • Diana

Thank you Susan for the outstanding article. Nothing the MSM does should surprise us anymore, but I can’t believe they ambushed her like that. You could tell she was hurt by it.

I think this is what has angered me the most about this whole election. The cruelty. There is plenty enough for both sides to question and expect a reasonable answer too without setting out to purposely hurt people, and 99.9% of it has come from Obama’s side.

They’ve basically promoted the mental and physical abuse of women and no one has said, “Wait a minute now, I think you’re carrying this too far.” MSNBC has been the leaders at promoting it. They’ve promoted division in different races. Obama has set race relations back in this country, he hasn’t moved them forward. Look how they treated a member of their own party and a great leader Hillary. She’s not perfect, but are any of us? Look how we were treated, talked too with the constant you’re a racist. A bigot. It’s all been very sad…never have I witnessed so much open/blatant cruelty.

I’m not at all surprised by the conduct of CNN, and their attempts to ambush her. We all know, they want Obama to win. We also know that Sarah Palin is conservative who is well liked by the American people, she acts like a normal person with ideas to help the country. They are afraid to see a conservative female succeed so they try and destroy her.

I think if it were not for FOX News CNN would be worse than it is, because nobody in the mainstream media would challenge them on such terrible interviews.

How can people possibly be comfortable with an Obama Presidency but not a Palin Presidency?

The bias of the media has ingrained this into people’s heads.

Quite frankly, the negative press has worked to discredit Gov. Palin as far more people see her negatively than did two weeks ago.

Is there anyway we can sue the media?

Because if Obama wins this election, and it’s looking likely, we will never have an honest election in this country again. The socialist left will completely take over and those who disagree will have no voice because it will be silenced.

Governor Palin, like most of us, simply doesn’t have the resources to remake herself into the public image of a candidate like the Soertoro/Obamas have done.

If the Republican party wants a “better dressed” candidate, let them pay for it because she would do just as well in jeans and a sweatshirt.

There’s an old proverb “You can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear”. Mrs. Obama’s makeover didn’t take the anger and hate out of her eyes. And the Republican party “gusseting up” Palin with a new wardrobe hasn’t take the gutsy enthusiam out of her’s.

And her reply to the incompetent CNN journalist Drew Griffin who got his research wrong was exactly what you would expect from “one of us” instead of a political veteran. And that’s a compliment!

What most people don’t know about PEW ties.

“Charitable” Foundations: ATMs for the Left
    By Ben Johnson

These are but a few of the radical organizations Soros has funded. In fact, it is impossible to know exactly how many other radicals are receiving Soros’ money. Soros gave more than $13 million to the Tides Foundation/Center between 1997 and 2003. (In this, he is in good company; Sen. John Kerry’s wife, Teresa Heinz Kerry, has contributed more than $4 million to Tides over the years.) The Tides Foundation acts as a middle-man between wealthy leftists and far-Left advocacy groups, with which the wealthy leftists do not wish to be associated. Among Tides beneficiaries are the National Lawyers Guild, the Center for Constitutional Rights, CAIR, United for Peace and Justice, the Institute for Global Communications and a wide assortment of groups on the extreme margins of the political debate.

    The tangled web
Tides also maintains an interesting relationship with the multi-billion-dollar Pew Charitable Trusts. Since 1993 Pew has used the Tides Foundation and/or Tides Center to “manage” three high-profile journalism initiatives: the Pew Center for Excellence in Journalism, the Pew Center for Civic Journalism, and the Pew Center for the People and the Press. These Pew “Centers” are set up as for-profit media companies, which means that Pew (as a “private foundation”) is legally prohibited from funding them directly. Tides has no such hurdle, so it has gladly raked in over $95 million from Pew since 1990 — taking the standard 8 percent as pure profit.
In practice, the social reformers at the helm of the Pew Charitable Trusts use these media entities to run public opinion polling; to indoctrinate young reporters in “reporting techniques” that are consistent with Pew’s social goals; and to “promote” (read: subsidize) actual reporting and story preparation that meets Pew’s definition of “civic journalism.” Civic journalism, by the way, is defined as reporting that “mobilizes Americans” behind issues that Pew considers important.

    DAB,
I took your advice and emailed them, they have a check the box thing for Positive or Negative…I checked Positive since the Negative’s probably get deleted or laughed at…then I used the “Obama Reverse Twist” and this is what I said:

You guys are really doing a great job of covering Sarah Palin. I, for one, don’t think there was anything wrong with the interview the other day where the quoted remarks were “Misquoted”, she is stupid, right? The Right Wing is on it’s way out the door and we owe the Media a debt of gratitude. Nobody cares if you are against McCain or Hillary, sometimes you have to use the job you have to push an agenda that is for good. There may be a bunch of GOP cry babies led by O’Reilly claiming you guys don’t know how to do your job, but I disagree, if people want a Conservative view they can watch Fox, the rest of us know what time it is at CNN. Obama supportors are grateful. Keep up the great “Non” investigative reporting on Obama for eleven more days and you can high five each other Nov. 4th when you realize the real Patriots in this year’s race were found at Daily Kos, Huffington Post, MSNBC and CNN…oh and a great big shout out to ACORN, too. The difference they made doing the real leg work will be the difference period. The Democrats will get even in 2008 for Bush, once and for all, by any means necessary. We will steal Ohio and Florida this year! And nobody is going to stop it!!!
So what if they investigate and bring charges? Pres. Obama will pardon them. And the GOP will never be able to prove he’s not a real citizen in time for the GE., either. So Berg and Corsi can come up with all the documents they want, cuz nobody but Sean Hannity is going to talk about it. Besides the Courts can’t make him show a BC, only Congress can, and they aren’t going to! Ha!
Great job, keep up the message…McCain is responsible for the financial crisis and a racist, and Sarah Palin is an idiot, and a racist. 11 more days to Utopia!!!
We got CHANGE coming, and Thank You CNN for helping to bring it!

A little sarcasm, and as we saw this week, they obviously don’t know how to detect it, so they will probably believe this is really a letter praising them. Oh well, I have had my fun for the day. Thanks for the link. Maybe we should start emailing questions to MSNBC and CNN asking if the rumors are true that Obama doesn’t have a BC and Congress is trying to make him produce it…what’s the Republican guy from Utah, that has the actual power to do that’s, name? OR how about we tell them we saw on a right wing blog that Obama has a cousin in Kenya that he campaigned for who burned down his village and killed Christian women and children last year, and Obama knew about it and encouraged him to withhold stopping his supportors from rioting until they agreed to put him in power…tell them you are worried that if something like that gets out it could cost Obama the election!!
It’s just a suggestion, but if enough of us do it, they might bite.

GO PUMAs!!! We have an Election to win! It’s time to get down in the mud and get dirty!

Why doesn’t CNN and the rest of the MSM report on this?

    Palin Thwarts The Gas Cartel

By INVESTOR’S BUSINESS DAILY | Posted Tuesday, October 14, 2008 4:20 PM PT
Energy: Iran resurrected its idea of a “gas cartel” to control gas markets like oil. But even if it succeeds, the U.S. won’t be vulnerable. If you wonder why, look to the governor of Alaska.

That’s right, Gov. Sarah Palin took a powerful preemptive step in August to shield the U.S. from a coming gas cartel. Palin’s effort to create the Trans-Canada Alaska gas line — which would provide a vast new trove of natural gas each day to the U.S. — effectively nullifies the emerging gas cartel’s potential impact on America.
If OPEC strikes you as a bad group, the new cartel for natural gas, led by Russia and Iran, will be even worse.

Energy security is a peculiar concept. Conventional wisdom holds that the U.S. has too few resources to bother drilling. But a nation need not have massive oil reserves for independence; all it needs are competitive alternatives — such as natural gas. Heading off the gas cartel is an important move, and Palin deserves recognition.
Palin’s foresight is a major contribution to U.S. energy security that will reverberate well beyond the election, no matter how it turns out.

As it relates to current events.

    Oct 22, 2008

Iran, Russia, Qatar move on natural gas cartel
Russians, Qataris and Iranians met in Teheran on Tuesday to discuss setting up a natural gas cartel, similar to the oil-based Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).
The notion of a gas cartel was brought up in January 2007 by Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, but it is now gaining momentum and may require just a few more meetings before an accord is finalized.
Iran, Russia and Qatar account for nearly a third of the world’s natural gas exporters.
The European Union relies on Russia for a large part of its natural gas imports and is concerned that any such cartel will affect supply and prices.

The MSM sees black and will swear up and down that it’s white.

In other words, the MSM are BLATANT, BOLD liars.

Sarah Palin is arguably the GREATEST THREAT to the Obama/Biden campaign. Period. Obama and the MSM know this.

Palin’s popularity has put the fear of God into the black hearts of Obama supporters everywhere – ESPECIALLY the MSM. They KNOW that she will get McCain across the finish line to the U.S. Presidency in two weeks.

The Obama supporters are terrified. They have good reason to be.

Which is why the MSM keep whining and crying about Palin being on McCain’s ticket – keep dreaming up these panic articles and faux polls.

Congrats to your beautiful new granddaughter!!

In addition to letting CNN know how upset you are about the Palin distortion, why not also personally contact Lou Dobbs to voice your displeasure and ask him to get on their case about it or else personally expose it. Contact him at:

Did you know that his son Johnathon is one the board of You Tube? Just a post I read, which may not be accurate but I think it is very possible.

Then there are possible/probable Soros links to Media Matters, MoveOn and FactCheck.

Thanks for your links I will go look at them shortly. Someone needs to form a board similar to the 9/11 commission and put all the pieces together.

If a link could be set up here some of us could funnel our research into the writers and they could do it. Time is too short now but America needs to know. In the event Obama is elected the information might be useful to impeach him and throw some of the DNC and others in prison.

  • athena

That made me cry. Asides from the broken bones, repeated beatings and living conditions, this man was kept from his family and his young children. The comments some people wrote make me so angry. I cannot stand Obama.

  • C.S.

I’m beginning to doubt that even Hawaii has a birth certificate on file for mystery man Soertoro/Obama and that a signed document attesting to a live birth is all they have because any State who refused to attest to a candidate’s eligibility to be president would automatically disqualify that candidate and Hawaii officials are trying very hard to avoid that.

This man isn’t applying for the job of manager of his local WalMart; he wants to be president of the United States and never before in our history have we known so little about the candidate asking us to give him so much power over our lives.

I don’t care who his father is, was, or said to be. I want to know if he meets the eligibility requirements to run for president and the content of his character. And right now his dragging his feet on the eligibility requirements suit now in federal court and his known association with convicted criminals, terrorists and racists pushing a black supremacy agenda, doesn’t say much for his character.

Who is this man of mystery and why does he want to become a public servant of We the People and what does the Democratic party get out of making him president against the Will of the People?

How exactly are tv ratings calculated?

Why not turn off the MSM as a group. Wouldn’t the ratings be affected if we all turned off all the stations for a designated time.
Does anyone know how this could be most effective?

I assume the stations still need ratings to be in business. Advertisers use these numbers.

If….IF….Andy Martin is correct, then I would like to know who introduced Mr Davis to Stanley Ann Dunham’s father when they all lived back in Kansas.

How did the Dunham and/or Payne families (Sen Obama’s maternal grandmother’s maiden name) first meet Mr Davis in Kansas (or any place else)?

People have a right to believe whatever they want and socialize with whoever they want -this is America BUT…if these people are running for office of President of the United States of America…then…associations do matter and these candidates need to be vetted properly.

If anyone asked similiar questions about John Doe on the street- I would view it as a violation of their civil rights.

However, asking these questions about Sen Obama and his family is important because of Sen Obama’s candidacy and his own lack of transparency about his background.

NBC completely went psycho on Palin and her families clothes I simpley can’t fathom the hypocritical BS coming from them on 150k versus the 601 million dollars spent by obama this election. To me 601 million dollars spent on an election is DISGUSTING after he LIED about public financing, where is the outrage over this?

The MSM is destroying our country and the fact that there are so many sheepish American’s out there buying their lies is as equally disturbing. The same people who sold us bush and the war, covered up the Democtraic corruption in Fannie and Freddie creating the biggest financial meltdown our country is witnessing in modern times should make people stop and get a clue to what is happening.

  • jrterrier

yes. he plans to give a tax cut to 95% of americans, according to him. except that 40% of americans don’t pay any taxes. the only way for his 95% math to work is for him to give a check to those who are not paying taxes. in fact his campaign just conceded that.

What I don’t understand is that why John McCain and Sara Palin accept invitations to go on CNN, NBC … when then know full well that they are in the tank for Obama. The elite media is not interested in the issues, they just want to make John McCain and Palin look bad in front of millions, and unfortunately they keep falling in the same trap!!

  • BettsAZ

Damn!…Wish I had read your response to CNN before I e-mailed my response! That was GREAT! I tried to send without checking the box, and they wouldn’t let me so I added a question to my message:”Why do I have to check “positive” or “negative”? Do you delete the “negative” to avoid criticism, kind of like you delete any negative criticism of your chosen President Obama in your reporting?”

You’re right…they probably delete all the “negatives” without reading them!

  • mimi

Shows you the real meaning of how far down low is among these low information Botheads. Not only is the set costly, you might want to check how much the guys who had to put that set up and break it down were paid. If they were union guys, then if their time went over, they were paid premium overtime.

And while we’re at it, how about the lighting? A lighting designer was probably needed, a head electrician to execute the light charts. And assistants to hang the lights. Again, if these were union people they got paid premium. I certainly don’t begrudge the union people getting work, but since we’re talking extravagance, then if Palin’s wardrobe counts and frankly, clothing is not something she could do without, then certainly that meaningless, ego-tripping set of 0bama’s, which he didn’t need, counts as an extravagance beyond the pale.

But what really galls me is this: Women’s clothing is EXPENSIVE! People can talk all they want about ladies ‘budget’ clothing, but most of that stuff is poorly made and the material cheap. This is one of my pet peeves. It’s so much easier and cheaper for a man to look good. Women, not so much. And the designers really sock it to you, $$$$-wise.

And women in the public are judged way more harshly. For example, I absolutely loathe the cut of the collars on 0bama’s shirts. They’re too short and make him look like he’s in some kind of uniform. The short collar also makes his big head look bigger. And his shirts are always white. Very parochial-looking. I guess a blue shirt for him is out of the question.

People are also forgetting that in her appearances with McCain, Palin has to share the stage with Cindy McCain. Even though the women should be judged by different yardsticks in terms of dress, in our sexist society, people measure them the same. Just think if Palin were to were cheesy made budget-wear next to Cindy. The contrast would be startling.

I’ve liked the look Palin has had. She looks smart, professional and no-nonsense. The clothes are well-made and frankly, nothing beats a well-made jacket, dress, or slacks. It’s what’s horrible about fashion today. Well-made clothing is no longer affordable. And after a woman reaches a certain age, especially, wearing well-made clothes makes all the difference in the world on your body which has lost it’s youthful suppleness.

Again, clothes are necessary. Columns, sets, lighting… not so much.

The other night I watched 2 movies: Lions for Lambs & Rendition.

Robert Redford directed Lambs. Although it’s a very didactic movie, I must say that several political points were made that I agree with. In one scene, Redford, playing a college professor, lectures a wayward, but promising student, telling him that government and the media count on the general public’s apathy and willful ignorance. This election has proven this over and over again. The msm has consistently reported from one point of view. And no one is challenging it.

Yes, 601 million dollars, even to defeat a Republican, who is not that well-liked in his own Party, is an obscene amount of money to spend. Especially after Bush. Where’s the outrage? And, yes, why did 0bama get a pass over not accepting public financing???? I only pray that everyone in this country is not too stupid, apathetic and just too darn lazy to figure some of this stuff out for themselves.

    Rendition is also worth seeing.

I’ve been reading up a bit on Thatcher lately. She was remarkable. Agree with her or not, she was fierce and had an incalculable impact not just in Britain but around the world.

To get some idea of her effect, she didn’t just change the Conservative party, she changed the Labour party even more. Truly a revolutionary.

Very good! I agree that they might not “get” the irony of it because they are, well, stupid and incompetent (among other things).

Its not that they don’t like Governor Palin it is she is a big threat to BHO as president. They feel if they could portray her in a negative light it would turn people off and he would have a greater chance at winning this election.

  • mimi

I am having difficulty believing this for the following reasons:

The time period when Davis was in Kansas don’t seem to match the Dunhams.

When/how did Ann meet Davis? And where?

There is way too much focus here on trying to match 0bama’s physical characteristics to these black men only. It’s following the premise that one drop of black blood makes you black, therefore excludes the DNA of your white parentage/ancestors.

    Bull!

0bama is biracial. If his father is the Kenyan, he would not necessarily come out looking exactly like him. His physical features would be definitely, for lack of a better word, diluted.

If you see the photos of 0bama’s maternal grandfather as a young man, 0bama shares many physical characteristics of this white man: same shape & size head, jawline, cheekbones and mouth shape, excluding the lips. They have very similar smiles.

I think white people focus more on skin color, hair texture, nose and mouth. 0bama definitely has a Negroid nose and of course his skin is darker, but not as dark as the Kenyan who is pure blood. But 0bama is tall like Stanley Dunham. But you must compare 0bama with photos of his grandfather as a younger man. Caucasians age differently than blacks and his grandfather was a drinker and I’m sure that affected the way his face aged.

The products of biracial unions vary so much. For example, the Heidi Klum/Seal union has produced 2 sons who resemble their father only with lighter skin, hair color and kinky hair texture. But it’s not always that way. Sidney Poitier’s daughter does not look like him at all.

Personally, I think 0bama would have had much lighter skin if FMD was his father, being an AA who probably had Caucasian DNA in his blood from his slave ancestors.

But what this means if true, is that 0bama is an American citizen. Both of his parents would be American and that would qualify him. I don’t care if Soetoro adopted him or not. He was a child and didn’t have any say in the rejection of his birthright as an American citizen.

Personally, I prefer to believe that the Kenyan is his father. The idea that FMD might be his father and that his mother and grandmother hid this and Davis participated in this fraud, is way too screwy for me to comprehend.

  • Boxer Mum 06

I also found this a bit interesting. Here in Philly, we have a local radio guy who also has filled in on TV now and again. His name is Michael Smerconish. Back when MSNBC was deciding who to hire for their morning show after Imus got canned, there was some talk maybe he would get the gig.

Michael Smerconish is a self-described Republican and very strong supporter of Maureen Faulkner the widow of Danny Faulkner a Philly policeman that was murdered by Mumia Abu-Jamal. He even wrote a book about it.

Michael Smerconish has come out and endorsed Obama. He says it’s b/c of Pakistan and he is against Palin.

I find it a bit interesting to also read that his contract is up and he is looking at possibly joining MSNBC with his own show. I’ve read they feel that Joe Scarborough will get the Meet The Press job and that tada! leaves the morning slot on MSNBC open again.

Well, for someone that is so hellbent against Mumia and makes such strong arguments and takes on the likes of Susan Sarandon for her support. Isn’t it ironic that Bill Ayers has a picture of Mumia in his office and is one of his supporters?

Does this assocation mean nothing to Smerconish or is he no different than the other hosts that only look out for themselves and their career/pay check?

I used to listen to his show but he is such a fan of his own it’s irritating to listen at all.

I was not surprised at all that he would endorse Obama – after finding out about the Ayers/Mumia thing though, I find Smerconish’s reputation to be crap!
