Barack’s Contrived Hawaii Trip

Talk about bamboozling the public, the Obama campaign has trotted out the ultimate PR propaganda designed to persuade America that Barack Obama is a regular guy who cares about his grandmother. Oh, did I mention she is white and from Kansas? I mean, who doesn’t love their granny? Dorthy and Toto were from Kansas. You just don’t get more American than that. Let’s just remind everyone that Barack is a man grieving for his mama grandma.

The storyline being fed to (and swallowed by) most of the public is that Granny Dunham, Obama’s defacto mama, has taken a turn for the worse and is humming Bob Dylan’s, “Knock, Knock, Knocking at Heaven’s Door.” Demonstrating that politics are secondary when it comes to family, Barack will dash off to Hawaii today and sit by her side. Sort of a pre-shiv’ah ritual bereavement. He does not care whether this puts his campaign at risk. He’s above politics. It is Grandma for gods sake!!

If you have finished hurling into your air sickness bag, here’s what is really going on.

Remember Barack’s August vacation? Yeah, he cared so much about Granny that he saw her only for an hour and did not take Michelle and the girls to visit the woman who he credits with helping raise him. Pretty odd behavior.

This trip is part of a scripted campaign event. It is a sign that the Obama team are so confident their boy has the election in the bag, that they are stepping up efforts to solidify Barack’s image as a regular, mainstream Joe. Hence the visit to Granny in a time of need. Now Grandma Dunham is an elderly woman and is coming off of a broken hip. From the sound of it she is a feisty old gal and no more in peril of keeling over than any other 86 year old woman. Check out this CBS story, which is based on a interview with Barack’s great uncle and his granny’s brother:

Payne, who is Obama’s great-uncle, said his sister was hospitalized briefly but is back home in her Honolulu apartment, where Obama’s sister, Maya Soetoro-Ng, cares for her. Obama plans to suspend campaigning later this week to visit his grandmother, and Payne is planning to fly there for her 86th birthday, which is Sunday.

Payne, 83, said he spoke to his sister briefly on Monday.

“We had a short and as upbeat as possible conversation,” said Payne, a retired university library administrator. “She hated the hospital.”

She’s got the normal problems of an aging body but, with plans for the birthday party, it does not sound like a wake is imminent. Let’s face it, if Granny Dunham was departing this mortal coil (and let’s face it, she is an old lady and will die at some point) wouldn’t the whole family go? Shouldn’t Barack’s daughters get a chance to say good bye to Great Grandma Dunham.

          And Michelle is an outrage – not to have visited with the kids in August was bad enough. This is disgusting….IMHO.

            I saw on NBC last night footage of the entire Obama family visiting his grandma during their August trip. They also said he went to see her every day he was in Hawaii.

      This is my take on it…he needs some down time. What better way to get the weekend off than to say he is going to visit his, did I mention she is white, grandmother. What happened to the story that she was in critical condition? Why is everything always a lie? He is so like Bush. Whatever he says or the campaign says is a lie. Our duty is to try and find out how big the lie and the ulterior motive!

That you Republicans will be in the political wilderness for a generation brings me great joy.           You are incorrect that Mr.Obama only visited her an hour during his Hawaii trip. It is well documented by the reporters of the Honolulu Advertiser newspaper that he spent at LEAST an hour EVERY day of his trip at grandmother’s apartment. His children and Michelle visited for one hour, perhaps only once. Barack and his sister Maya (who cares for Mrs. Dunham) were regularly by her side in August. Further, the Advertiser reports Maya keeps her brother constantly informed of her health.

I thought he suspended his campaign so he could go see his dying grandmother” Obviously, he is getting as much mileage out of the “Dying Grandma Tour” as Cher got out of her last “Last Tour”.

        It is, at best, an Axelrod invented ruse to no doubt garner any sympathy votes he can get from old folks who have been abandoned by their ungrateful children, or grandkids. Obama gives hope, see? Even in the midst of a Presidential Campaign he can plan a few hours in between campaign stops to stop by, slip Granny a Nightcap, go through any incriminating papers in Granny Toot’s dresser drawers, and then miraculously disappear in a flash that might seem like a Halcion infused dream. See, Barry didn’t forget your Birthday, he just couldn’t stay for the party.

        If i were Toot, I’d tell Security to keep him out of the building, and I damned sure would not let him visit…especially with the delightful revelations of Andy Martin today! What a hoot! Obama may be Davis’s kid? Looks a hell of a lot more like him than he does Barack SR. I feel like the missing puzzle pieces are starting to fall into place, and I for one, believe THAT is why we haven’t heard anything else from Corsi. Martin seems to have come up with a contradicting theory to the whole Birth Certificate mystery, and yes, I am sure Toot and Gramps knew the truth. It all makes sense, and so far, in this Election, nothing has made sense at all up to this time about Barack Obama, the man, the myth, the legend.
        It ALMOST makes me feel sorry for the guy, but the fact that he is a pathelogical liar and a con artist just holds me back from actually caring.
        I am willing to bet that the National Enquirer, who were supposed to be cooking up a story on Davis and Obama, may have already been briefed by Martin prior to his disclosure this morning. We shall see, and yes, for once, Inquiring minds do want to know.

        Sorry, but I do not believe this new idea that Frank Marshall Davis is his real father. I don’t believe they look alike at all.

        Obama has an angular long face like his mother and maternal grandfather. The Kenyan’s face though small is angular, too. People need to post a photo of 0bama’s maternal grandfather when he was young. Except for the nose, skin color and hair texture, they favor. His oldest daughter has that same long angular face as well.

        I don’t know why people suddenly want 0bama to be the bastard son of Davis. Davis was an American. And that would definitely make 0bama American, too. Even though I’m anti-0bama, I certainly think the technicality of him being adopted by Soetoro as a child, who had no say, would not make him ineligible. People would cry ‘foul’ and rightly so if both parents were American. Children have no say in what a parent may or may not decide. And besides, he did return back to the States at a young enough age and remained. It doesn’t seem as if Lolo Soetoro was interested in Barack once his own child was born. So as far as I’m concerned the adoption is void.

        I prefer the scenario of the Kenyan being his father.

      Barack Obama cares deeply for his grandmother, who helped raise him. The Star Ledger Newspaper and the Honolulu Advertiser newspaper have both reported that they witnessed him making DAILY VISITS to his grandmother’s apartment in August. He spent the remainder of his time with his sister and her family, as he has done very Christmas holiday since leaving Hawaii for college. He is extremely close to both his grandmother and his sister Maya, who was raised together with their mother and maternal grandmother, Mrs. Dunham. It is often reported in Hawaii that Barack’s children are very close to their Hawaiian cousins, and that Michelle has grown very close to Barack’s family in Hawaii over the years. For Michelle to make the choice to spend every Christmas together with her husband’s grandmother and his sister and family, is evidence to me (and everyone else in Hawaii) that Mr.Obama loves his family.

        At the Convention, I noticed something that I found very startling: that 0bama never once looked at, related to his sister in any way when they were all on the stage after his speech.

        If they are as close as you say, where was the hug after his acceptance speech? After all, this was a momentous occasion.

        And as far as Christmas is concerned, since the 0bamas don’t celebrate Christmas, spending the holiday in an island Paradise like Hawaii is hardly a sacrifice. I’d make that sacrifice in a minute.

The FIRST thing everyone learns about politics is NEVER to suspend your campaign in an attempt to stage some kind of publicity stunt, like riding into Washington to kill bipartisan legislation. They are equals in his life! (Well..except his Grandmother never sold for profit tapes of herself standing in front of hundreds of people blaming “white people’s greed”, screaming about the “US of KKKA” or dry humping the pulpit!)

      Obama is Frank Marshall Davis’s illegitimate son, but was born in Kenya because his Mom married Barack, SR. to give her kid a name, and to give SR a pathway to U.S. Citizenship.
      She apparently did not bring him here until after he was already born, at which time he may or may not have become a Naturalized Citizen. Things went south in the Obama relationship, and they divorced, she remarried Soetoro, who adopted Obama, tried to raise him as a Muslim, took him to Indonesia, she then foreited Obama’s U.S. Citizenship so that he could obtain Indonesian status, (unless he was always Kenyan) and when things weren’t going well with Husband #2, she sent him back to the U.S.–did he obtain U.S. Naturalized citizenship then? Did they not bother with the paper work? Was it easier to keep Obama listed as a Muslim from Indonesia to get him into and out of all the countries Ann allegedly worked and lived in (sis claimed there were thirteen, in all)
      When Obama got back here in the States, the Grandparents probably thought they were doing the right thing by Barry, by letting him get to know his real Dad, but they may not have told him the truth about Uncle Frank until he was a young man.
      No wonder the guy is nuts, and angry. I think I now understand why he did not visit Mom as she was dying, and I think we may also be seeing why, despite the financial sacrifice of his Grandparents, he seemed to have such animosity towards them.
      I think we understand why so many people in the Chicago secret society accepted Obama so eagerly, and why this ordinary Black guy got financial backing from folks along the way, when he had no explainable connection to anybody else who would have for no good reason, chosen to sponsor him into colleges like Occidental, Columbia Univ. and later, Harvard. And God knows, Bill Ayers loves him some Communists and Civil Rights Activists!…
      Hmmm, this plot is as thick as pea soup, and every bit as tasty!

    What I found weird is the delay. Why wasnt Obama visiting her while she was in the hospital is she was in real bad shape. Or if she took a turn for the worse on Monday why wasnt he on the first plane out to Hawaii on Monday instead of waiting.
    Also why all the other conincidences….The filing of the BC suit in Hawaii, Losing Numbers in the poll, along with Hawaii ceasing a medical plan that was very similar to Obamas

        Kinda odd that newspaper reports say grandma is “gravely ill,” but Obama finds time to dance through video on the Ellen Show, and then to have a press appearance trying to WORM what Biden said as a “rhetorical flourish.”

          The bottom line is Obama will do ANYTHING and I repeat ANYTHING to get Biden’s comments out of the news. And I really hope his Grandmother gets well, but this is a political move. I have no doubt. It’s not like he is strapped for cash to get the whole family back there to be with Granny. Why wouldn’t he want to give his daughters some sense of family, of where they came from? Give them a chance to say goodbye? He wants them to have nothing to do with her. Or maybe Meeechelle doesn’t want them to know their “white” grandma.           My closest friends are a mixed racial couple and have two children. Their children love both of their families equally. There is no race thing there. Holidays are spent with both sides of the family. There is no typical this or typical that thing.

          I would hope Michelle does not prevent her girls from having an equally loving relationship with both grandmothers.

          If she does not then I question why she would even get involved with Barack knowing where his roots are.

          I have two “mixed race” sons and three “mixed race” grandchildren. I do not think of them as “mixed race”; I think of them as my family. I can assure you that the Obama family attitude toward the grandmother/great grandmother is not “a mixed race child’s reality”. Obama’s racism is showing, pure and simple.

          I cringe every time I am reminded of Obama calling his grandmother “a typical white person.” This is humiliating and disgraceful to describe the woman who helped raise him in this way. He has demonstrated over and over he does not care about his grandmother except as a campaign prop.

            That always bothered me – his story that his mother was fighting the insurance companies while she was dying of cancer. Why did she have to fight the insurance companies, especially when her son is a Harvard educated lawyer?

            Certainly, it appears he’s from a seriously dysfunctional family and it seems they were for the most part estranged. That’s why his story about her insurance struggles made me wither inside – if it mattered to him, he would have stepped in to be her advocate. He didn’t, so the story is exactly as it appears to be – a political ploy to elicit sympathy from the masses.

              How could he make political hay out of her insurance covering her? And what does he mean by struggle, anyway. Not that I would doubt for a second that an insurer would try to get out of paying, but just getting a claim processed normally can be a struggle. This story needs more specifics before it buys my sympathy, but sympathy for her money still isn’t the same as visiting mom when she’s dying.

    The line in the article that I disagree with is that this is a sign that the Obama campaign is confident. it may be intended to look that way, but there are too many signs they are not confident. I just heard a clip of a left-leaning tv journalist (forget who) commenting that the recent Obama ad on healthcare confused him because even factcheck.org had called it bogus and false. The confusion was… why this late in the campaign are they running an ad like that that smacks of desperation? No, I don’t see confidence.

        I worked for several years in fraud relations. The best scheme that was out there was to hit up people’s credit cards for minimal amounts that would float under the radar and not be noticed.

        If you have multiple cards to hit up for say even $25 you could pull alot off and it would never show.

        And, if you contact your cc company, if it’s below a certain threshold, more than likely they will right it off – no investigation or strings attached.

    He visited his grandmother on multiple occasions, but only in small increments of an hour at a time. She is a very old woman and this is understandable.

    Obviously, the story you should really be covering is Andy Martin’s expose that Barack’s father is really Frank Marshall Davis!!!!!!!

    This ultra-leftist-posing-as-a-centrist candidate has turned me into a cynic as far as the course of his campaign goes. My suspicion is his ego was badly bruised in NC a few days ago when he was unable to charm a diner full of elderly voters. One woman even cried out “Socialist!” as he entered the restaurant. So forgive me if I think this HI visit is yet another stunt — to show those NC folks and others like them that he truly cares about his typical-white-person grandmother. And as I’ve said here before, I suspect he’s anticipating an October surprise and is using his grammy as a shield to help thwart criticism. Why else would he have bothered to make an announcement, several days in advance, that he planned to visit her? Reports of her imminent death have even been shot down by her brother.

    I was chatting to a friend of mine in California last night, and one of his friends apparently decided to organise a rally for Obama. To cut a long story short, the planning for the event has become bigger and bigger, and now this guy is in talks with Obama’s “people”. Apparently they’ve hinted that Obama may show up, as it’s in Sacramento this weekend, and he’ll be passing through on the way to his grandmother.

    I gave credit where credit was due – well done to the guy who did the organising. But I had to keep my true feelings for Obama to myself. (I can’t stand the guy!)

    And is it me, or are Obama supporters becoming more and more arrogant? They seem to have this disgust for anyone who doesn’t support him. The friend I was talking to said to me “You may as well get used to it – he’s going to be the next President”. I wanted to throw up.

    Another thought on the polls:

    John Zogby attacked the AP poll because they didn’t account enough for college kids. Zogby and other pollsters have been assuming that there are so many college kids with cell phones only who are so heavily for Obama, that they made a statistical adjustment for it. They are giving points to Obama on the assumption of this college kids/cellphones theory. Reminds me of taking delegates away from one candidate and giving them to another based on similar fantasy justifications.

    And yet, the internals on the new IBD poll shows that first time voters 18-24 are going for McCain by 5 points. There ya go.

      The rationale about cell phones/polling is a fallacy — it’s as if it’s presumed conservatives don’t use cell phones and that no young people would vote for Republicans.

      The pollsters know this election is of tremendous interest to the voting public. My guess is that the daily zigzaging is to help ensure the polls garner a lot of that interest. By the last couple of days before the election, the polls should be more uniform and consistent, as they usually are. For now, many of them are simply jerking us around.

    No, not a great thing but not as critical for elderly people as it was years ago. At one time, when an elderly person broke their hip, they went into the hospital, laid up, caught pneumonia and that was it. My great aunt died that way. But not today.

    Read the danged information before spouting off, will you? She was in the hospital “briefly” and is back home.

    But you write nonsense like “I trust she’s dying.” Nobody has said she’s dying. In fact, if you read the Obama campaign statements themselves, they rarely refer to her actual state of health at all, only that she’d been “hospitalized” and he was going to visit her. Probably to lay on his hands and miraculously heal her, considering he is the Messiah himself.

    What is wrong with us? We know better but, even then, we’re willing to swallow his nonsense.

    My grandmother is slightly older than Barack’s grandmother. She has problems occasionally with her lungs. She has fallen. When she did, she went to the hospital, stayed briefly, and went home. She’s not in the peak of health but she’s doing damn well for her age.

    But, trust me, the word “dying” means what it means. And nobody’s suggested any such thing. And, when the word is used, you go NOW. Been there as well, done that. You don’t “schedule” a visit.

    What it does show you is what this man, Obama, will do to win an election, especially when threatened with losing.

    Basically, anything.

      My experience only here. I’ve buried several close older relatives. Sometimes we had leeway, sometimes not. But the doctors did notify us.

      I trust that he needs to visit her. She raised him.

      I think the fact that he didn’t visit his mother is very, very “odd” to voters.

      So I don’t question that this is also going to be spun politically.

      However, I trust the story. She needs to see him one last time.

        My parents are old and trust me, seniors and old people are much more active than they used to be and they have the BEST HEALTHCARE around!

        One guy has liver cancer surgery and a day later he’s playing the back nine with my dad. I keep thinking their friends are gonna die then nope, still going with manageable lymphoma, spinal fusion surgery, quick drop-in for skin cancer removal, then they’re back home scheduling their next trip to Nicaragua, Africa, what have you. They are living it up, today’s geezers, the last group to have solvent pensions and social security.

          No kidding. My dad is 94, goes to physical therapy twice a week, walks without a cane, takes off in his gator, and is totally independent for himself, except for meals and laundry and driving.

          The only co-pay he has is for prescriptions as his insurance covers everything at 100% between medicare and his other policy. He bought the health insurance in the 1950′s.

          I would love to inherit his health insurance and his pension.

The main danger to older people who break their hips is the pneumonia and staph and other stuff they pick up IN THE HOSPITAL in their weakened, early post-operative state. Once they’re deemed strong enough to be released, all is usually OK.

        I know that’s a big, general statement, but it tends to be true. That said, 0bama’s granny was released some time ago, right?

          This has been the experience in my family too. Pneumonia is often the actual killer in the end. The odds of recovery are better when one leaves the germ-ridden environments of hospitals and nursing homes.

            But my friend’s dad is 95 he even recovered from pneumonia. It’s a serious phenomenon, they are getting really good at keeping old people alive. And doctors want to treat them because Medicare doesn’t nickle and dime them with the reimbursements. Meanwhile some 10-year-old kid just died from a tooth infection, his parents couldn’t afford a dentist.

            There’s the perennial news story about some doctor scamming all these old geezers by giving them unnecessary angioplasty – there’s a monetary incentive because they have medicare AND health insurance on top of it.

          Also if his granny has that spunky attitude, as it sounds like she does, it probably means she has a strong physical constitution, like Reagan did and my mom did (my mom got a STAPH while she was in the hospital, but my doctor said “she’ll still be around when they’re putting me in the ground.”) Some people just have that personality and physical stamina, even if they’ve lose most muscle tone, like my mom.

          My mom recovered from 2 broken hips & walked again from both of them. If she’s home, she’ll most likely be fine. Some folks act like being old is the worst thing in the world.     Mayor Daley today put a $2 million price tag on the cost of city services associated with the giant Barack Obama election night rally in Grant Park.

    He suggested the United Center as cheaper simpler alternative but was turned down.

    The mayor said the cash-flushed Obama campaign has agreed to reimburse the city for those services because Chicago is grappling with a $465 million deficit and is in no position to pay for it.

    Asked if he objected to Obama’s decision to hold the rally in Grant Park, Daley said, “Could you see me saying no to Sen. Obama? Give me a break. I’m not that dumb.”

    The mayor said the indoor United Center “would be much easier but the campaign so far … wants to do it in the open. They applied for the permit.”

    Daley acknowledged that the Grant Park rally would create a logistical nightmare. “You’d have to secure buildings, close down buildings,” he said.

    “You need sanitation. … You have to secure the CTA. You have to have traffic people. … You have close streets seven to eight hours before.”

    I am a mixed race family, and we are very normal. The only people we notice that get freaked are people that don’t know us.

    The issue of the Hawaii trip I’m with Larry 100%. I think that he would never be going to Hawaii unless there is a PROBLEM there.

    His grandmother is the only person that knows the true story of his life, so he has not made even a picture of her taken in the last 25 years available to the press.The circumstances are that she is probably going to be alive after the election, and he will get to spend more time with her then…hopefully as long as he wants to!

    The trip during this time would not be feasible in the last 12 days of the race for POTUS, and as you have pointed out it appears his children are not going.

    I think he is trying to settle things out , so that he can come up with a birth certificate…I really do.

    It is the only plausible answer to this trip at this late date.

    His grandmother sadly, has not seemed to be that important, except as a counter point for his racists remarks.

    Maybe, Martin has really made some head way with his investigation, or Berg’s pressure is imminent.

    We will find out soon.

      The woman in Kenya is not Obama’s grandmother. She is a co-wife of Obama’s polygamist grandfather. There are no pictures or interviews of Obama’s Kenyan grandmother. She left the family many years ago.

    I hope that Obama’s grandmother is doing fine, but I keep thinking that Obama’s timing is strange. Why has he waited several days to make his visit?

    Has anyone ever watched the reality show Survivor? Did you watch the one with the devious Johnny Fairplay? Johnny and his friend had cooked up a story before he left for the island to say that Johnny’s grandmother had died. This caused sympathy among the other suvivors and they allowed Fairplay to win a coveted challange. Fairplay used this lie to get him to the number three spot, even swearing on his grandmother’s grave to gain alliances. Fairplay’s grandmother had not died. It was a ploy to get him further in the show. He was good at deception and even the producers fell for his lie.

    I can’t help but wonder what Obama is up to. It is hard for me to believe anything he says. He wasn’t at his mothers bedside when she died.

In fact, it looks like there’s a good chance his fellow Connecticut resident, Chris Shays, the only Republican congressman from New England may not make it.

        While everyone on this blog keeps ranting nonsense about Obama, you’re missing the bigger picture–It’s not just about Obama. The “permanent Republican majority” is dead, and the entire Republican party appears to be heading for a defeat of historic proportions on November 4. Like everything else, that will be temporary, too, but really. Something big is happening, and you folks are focusing on things that are way too small.

    I’m just going to wish his grandmother well. My mother in law broke her hip when she was 82. I took care of her the last 7 years of her life and I miss her daily.

    I too think he went there for ulterior motives or why wouldn’t he want his children to also be able to say a final good-bye to his grandmother if he thought for one moment she was that gravely ill?

    I think it’s admirable that his sister is staying by her side. She also was the one that stayed by his mother’s side as well and cared for her. It’s nice to see at least one of them has some family values.

    Godspeed to Mrs. Dunham on her recovery.

    As much as I hate to say this, I have been snooping around Newspapers and TV in Hawaii and it does seem that Obama visited his grandmother more than once when her was there. There is a very short clip that shoes MO and the girls with presents and it looks like they are going into her apartment.
    So maybe he did spend time with her, but I have may have found a bigger story.
    Obama is fond of telling the story of sitting with his mother on her deathbed, and her being worried about her insurance, but now he says he didn’t see his mother before she died because he thought she had more time.

    Obama is fond of telling the story of sitting with his mother on her deathbed, and her being worried about her insurance, but now he says he didn’t see his mother before she died because he thought she had more time.

    My take is after his 10 minute visit with grandma, then he will pursue buying hospital records of birth certificate as he needs proof for the lawsuits and is trying to take care of that to fool the judges with his fake discovery. Wonder how much that will cost.

    Hope an undercover reporter follows him. Just in case he is lying. Forgery has already been posted once and factcheck.org said it was real but then again aren’t they headed by same group in Chicago/Acorn etc etc. Must think we all are stupid huh?     Obama is probably going over there to fix himself a new birth certificate since its been reported that his grandmother on his fathers side claims that she was in the delivery room with Obama’s mother in KENYA when Barack was born and that was the reason that Obama won’t release his college info because he received money for being an out of country student. Someone should do some more diggin into this. A former Democratic Pennsylvanian Attorney General has a recording of the grandmother saying that about being in the delivery room. He needs to release it to FOX.
