The Secrets of Capt. Fumio Nakahira Or Why I’m Leaving the Democratic Party but Keeping my Principles

“There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest.” — Elie Wiesel

It’s clear to many Democrats that a radical clique has taken control of the Party. Democratic ideals once held to be sacrosanct, including freedom of speech, one person one vote, and an intolerance of sexism have been violently pushed aside for the benefit of Obama. The media drumbeat for Obama is incessant; the media has even stopped pretending to be neutral. We’re seeing the country through Alice’s Looking Glass now and everything is upside-down and backwards. In an effort to save our Party and country, many Democrats are actively working to defeat Obama.

In 1980, the last Japanese soldier of World War Two, Captain Fumio Nakahira, was discovered on Mt. Halcon, Mindoro Island, Philippines. During the previous 35 years, Captain Nakahira had survived alone, serving his Emperor and believing that the War had not yet ended. (This was 15 years after the Gilligan’s Island episode).

Captain Nakahira comes to mind when I think about the thousands of disaffected and disillusioned Democrats across the country who will not be voting for Obama. If Obama is elected despite our efforts to defeat him, it will codify for a generation the Chicago corruption, race-baiting, and misogyny practiced by Obama and his minions; tactics which caused many of to leave the Party. And Obama’s race-baiting, misogynistic thugs will say: Good riddance!

Camping out on our own private Mt. Halcons, many thousands of men and women will remain committed to the causes which brought us to the Democratic Party in the first place. We won’t stop being concerned about sexism, race relations, economic opportunity, and national security.

It’s now dawning on Republicans and independents that a creeping totalitarianism is sweeping the country. Obama’s Truth Squads use the power of the state to stifle free expression, McCain supporters are jeered in public, and Obama’s shock troops — in a form of hate speech so ugly that it can only be described as a pogrom against women — wear clothing which declares that the Governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin, is a “cunt.” Sexual terrorism is the new form of Left-wing Kristallnacht.

Where did this come from?

The ecstatic mania of Obama’s supporters comes from many places, and I don’t pretend to understand all of the sources. Many who support Obama are low-information liberals, do-good progressives, proud African Americans, and fed-up independents. I can’t blame these groups; the Bush Administration has been a disaster. There is, however, a core group of Obama supporters who believe that the Senator from Illinois will bring revolutionary change. And their desire for the revolution is all-consuming and any tactic is considered fair game: caucus fraud, sexism, race-baiting, voter intimidation, online smear campaigns, sexual terrorism, and voter fraud. Anything to win.

I hold Obama accountable for the tone of this campaign and the actions of his supporters. From “hoodwink and bamboozled” to his “lipstick on a pig,” Obama’s sexist double-speak and race-baiting innuendos have unleashed something very ugly into the ether. Obama has given his supporters the tacit encouragement to cross lines of acceptable discourse in order to destroy his political opponents. In the Obama world, Bill Clinton is a racist, Hillary is a bitch, Sarah Palin is a cunt, and John McCain is erratic and senile. I fully expect that an Obama Administration, like all recent Administrations, will continue in campaign mode and I expect these tactics to continue. This was the reason, to borrow a phrase, that we sought to fumigate our Party.

Like many of you, I won’t have anything to do with Obama or his party. Obama’s tactics go against the reason I was a Democrat and no pleas and no threats will force me to give up my principles. Above my computer I have postcards with the images of Franklin D. Roosevelt and John F. Kennedy; my Hillary poster is in the corner and remains unframed.

Maybe his “inevitability” has been overstated…

This past weekend went to local Starbucks w/McCain Palin pin attached to my handbag. Young barista exclaimed: You’re voting for McCain! When I replied affirmatively, she leaned over to me and sotto voce said: So am I…

I wonder how much of this “silent support” is out there. All I know is, we only need about a hundred thousand more like the young barista in PA…

I recall the 2006 midterm elections, I was on the phone with a looney lefty friend, he was all agog about the GOP fixing the machines, yadda yadda, I interrupted him: But the Democrats have retaken the House…

so did the GOP rig the machines so they could lose?

Red, I never tell anyone I’m voting for McCain — people assume because I’m African American I am voting for Barky — let ‘em think it!

      • AnninCA

Obviously, there are alot of “silent” McCain voters. Nobody wants to talk about it because so many Obama supporters are downright rude.

Today’s polls show a slight tightening. If you check out RCP and click on the poll name, it will take you to the site, and you can see the graphs. McCain is definitely tightening.

One poll, IBD, has McCain within 4 points.

I have commentors writing that they are going to the early vote and are planning on voting for Obama, but when they get in the booth they are pulling the handle for McCain because they just can’t bring themselves to vote for Obama and cannot understand why. It’s the collective unconcious at work. Thanks MSM.

Bud, I hope they take your posting skills away from you. You could use the Nakahira anology if your against BO or Pro. Democrat or Republican. Its Sad and silly to use a subject of history that you can meld to your own reasoning. The Japanese you speak of was an Imperiaslist. He had Loyalty to his Emporer/God.

Plastic Biden and Holier-than-thou Obama despise the common man and woman. How can so many people fail to see this?

  • http://americanpumainitaly.blogspot.com/ sarainitaly

And, while it is common and apparently appropriate for *obama* and his supporters to use those terms to describe Bill, Hill, Mac and Palin, it is competely, without a doubt, intolerable to call obama the n word….

If obama can play 99 problems and a bitch ain’t one of them at a rally, and distribute *race card memos, and NOT speak out against the sexist attacks and name calling on Hill and Palin, AND obama has himself used those terms when refering to John Mccain, then I can say, yes, they deem them appropriate!

However, no one can criticize Obama in any way, shape or form, much less drop the n bomb, without a full on attack from the left/media.

(I do not use the n word, and don’t like it, but i hate the c word just as strongly.)

Which is worse? Calling someone the n word, or calling someone a racist?

In my opinion, racist is worse. Racist can get you fired, ruin your career, cause you to lose friends/supporters, etc. Calling someone the n word makes you look like an ass, not the other way around.

Throwing the racist card, as we have seen done this election, is SO damaging. and doing so, when it is so unfounded is unforgivable.

So, I guess my point is, Obama approves of this behavior. He has participated in it, and he has refused to speak out against it.

    • JoseyJ

Heck! the public isn’t even allowed to mention Obama’s MIDDLE NAME!!
Will it also be OMITTED from the history books??

Heck, when you’re writing poetry, you can’t even rhyme his last name with “Osama,” which really makes it hard to write a limerick . . . You try it!!!

There was a young man named Obama . . .

          • JozefAL

There was a young man named Obama
            Who wanted a pet iguana
But he went to a well
            And married Michelle
Who turned out to be a piranha.

(Okay, it doesn’t make any sense, but it rhymes. :) )

    • Ani

Yes, his behavior is unforgiveable. Falsely branding people racist is really the lowest of the low. His campaign, a complicit media and his more virulent supporters have been throwing that word around like it’s candy for 10 months now.

The 4th estate really is the worst for participating in this — they are enabling an unqualified candidate and have been exaggerating his support with inflated poll numbers based on erroneous assumptions. That plus the media playing the race card is like yelling fire in a crowded theatre. If Obama, deservedly, loses next week, the media, as much or more than anyone, will be responsible if the unrest the Obama campaign is threatening actually happens.

That is the result of the media enabling one candidate with no vetting and trashing everyone else. They are irresponsbily helping people to see him as godlike and not human. It’s a long way to fall. 95% of them have tossed their credibility out the window.

      • http://americanpumainitaly.blogspot.com/ sarainitaly

Do you think if I start telling people I am Princess Sara and am ready to rule the universe, they will believe me. It seems all I have to do is repeat it over and over again, get the MSM on my side, and it should work. Who cares if my resume supports that claim, or if I have any experience. It worked for Obama.

And hell, my name means Princess.

“I am Princess Sara and I will bring change to the universe!”

Amen to that! I became an Independent about two years ago. I started becoming irritated by the Dems and switched my affiliation, even though I continued to vote Democratic. I voted almost all Republican in the general this time, though. Never thought that would happen. I realize that if Obama wins, the only way to thwart his socialist/Marxist policies are to make sure that the Democrats don’t gain any more seats in congress. The government works better if no party has ultimate control.

  • goldengrahme

Oh, but the good Capt. Nakahira wreaked havoc on the inhabitants of that island all through his survival
years. He killed and burned huts and crops–always the good, zealous soldier.

I saw his bio on a PBS special some years ago. At
the time of the show’s airing he was living the good life on his own ranch in the wilds of Brazil. He
and his Japanese comrads held frequent parties in
celebration of their old fascist heritage. He
was steeped in feudal Japanese lore, unrepentant of his murderous ways after the war and quite full of himself for having escaped world justice. He was
always considered a hero to the Japanese.

There are whole colonies secreted away in gracious
accomodations in remote Argentine areas. They still practice their brand of German ideology including a Hitler fetish with his sophomoric Aryan supremacy BS. Geeessh!

These days I am reminded of something valuable I learned from my dear old dad. He always said : if you want something, deserve it. You want good grades? Deserve them. You want money? Earn it. You want lots of friends? Deserve them. You want respect? Deserve it.

I really believe we get the government we deserve. But that is not a call to sit back and see what it is. We need to get out and deserve our deliverance from Obama. And if collectively he is what we deserve, then we will take the punishment and emerge from it wiser and stronger and unlikely to ever make that mistake again.

I believe we are going to win! But I am absolutely certain that in the end, Barack Obama is going to lose.

I am watching Washington Journal on C-SPAN. Earlier a woman called-in saying that she had planned to vote for Obama. She went to campaign rally to see him and afterwards asked about volunteering for his campaign. She was directed to the local Democratic campaign headquarters. At the headquarters, all volunteers had to sit through a power-point presentation. The guy giving the presentation starting talking about Obama wanting to create a “new world order.” She said she decided she wanted no part of Obama after that.

“Yet the endorsement of Mr. McCain by a Qaeda-affiliated Web site isn’t a surprise to security specialists. Richard Clarke, the former White House counterterrorism director, and Joseph Nye, the former chairman of the National Intelligence Council, have both suggested that Al Qaeda prefers Mr. McCain and might even try to use terror attacks in the coming days to tip the election to him. ‘From their perspective, a continuation of Bush policies is best for recruiting,’ said Professor Nye, adding that Mr. McCain is far more likely to continue those policies.” -nyt

here’s a clue; i speak enough arabic to be able to read the stuff they post on those crazy websites (and on more mainstream arabic websites), and i have been reading what they have to say for a long time. there is a segement of the population that wants a mccain win (and wanted a bush win in 2004) because it increases the chances of continued active warfare against the US. the especially violence-loving muslims like this possibility, but there are probably far more who would like to simply see a bloodless, 5th column takeover of the US by someone like abuObama, leading basically to a capitulation to the same terrorist goals, i.e., total US abandonment of israel, complete withdrawl of all US forces from muslim lands, and release of all muslim prisoners. and of course they all want world conversion to islam, whether they want bush or mccain to win.

    good post….

I have never been far left or far right. I have always been very patriotic, realized the blessing of living in the United States, worked hard, am responsible and accountable for myself and I believe everyone else should be too. While I am fine w helping others at the same time they sould be encouraged to help themselves. Maybe the Dem party used to stand for this, I have no idea. All I know is most poor people vote Democrat and there are more poor people than ever so apparently the Dem plan is not working out for them too well. I am inclined to believe the Dem’s just want their vote and dont’ really give a crap if they are in poverty. If they are repressed they can get their votes. How sad. The Republicans got my vote this year, straight down the line. They will get it every single election indefinitely after what the Democrats did this year to Hillary Clinton, Sarah Palin, playing the race card, stealing votes, illegal campaign contributions, illegal voter registration etc.

It’s so interesting to find someone who doesn’t like the New Deal. There are very few folks like you in this country, so it’s quite fascinating. The vast majority appreciate the way that Roosevelt saved the US economy and set up a system (Social Security) that drastically lowered the number of elderly poor.

The tape is already on Fox. It is just matter of time before it will be on other news outlets. Palin had a great rally today. McCain gave a very good speech on the economy. This whole thing is coming together. I would not worry about the early voting it is fairly well split. Plus 70% of people will vote on election day.

McCain is winning this thing. Even the reports that there are rifts inside the McCain campaign is misinformation and is a joke. There are no verifiable people to attribute this to. So anybody could have made this up or one disgruntled aid could have just blown things out of proportion. If this was said about the Obama campaign it would have been ignored.

We are winning this election. The people in Virginia are very fired up. I have not seen crowds like that on recent events. This is all good.

I went to a rally here for Sarah Palin in Indiana Saturday night. We have went red every year since 1964 and they are saying the polls are tied here. BS…the tickets for this event were gone in a few hours, 10,000 of them. The doors opened 3 hours early and they couldn’t get people in fast enough. It was packed literally to the rafters. People were rowdy, on fire and bringin’ the house down. Sarah got a rousing, patriotic welcome from us. Red again this year for Indiana.

No, what I object to (and I think most other Americans do as well) is the lack of equivalent hardball coverage of the other side — or worse, actively serving as attack dogs for the presidential ticket of Sens. Barack Obama, D-Ill., and Joe Biden, D-Del.

If the current polls are correct, we are about to elect as president of the United States a man who is essentially a cipher, who has left almost no paper trail, seems to have few friends (that at least will talk) and has entire years missing out of his biography.

That isn’t Sen. Obama’s fault: His job is to put his best face forward. No, it is the traditional media’s fault, for it alone (unlike the alternative media) has had the resources to cover this story properly, and has systematically refused to do so.
    abcnews.go.com/Business/Story?id=6099188&page=3

The current state of the race in not because obama is smooth or axelrove’s brilliance. It’s because the “liberal media” not only refuses to do it’s job, vet obama, but because they are actively working to get him elected. The “liberal media” went after Clinton, Gore, Kerry, and Clinton. How’d that work out for us? Now they are after mccain. Insanity is believing that’ll work out any better than the “liberal medias” previous jihads.

    Anything to win.

I read a rumor that personal information will be released about that Florida reporter that dared to ask Biden a question The Precious’ campaign didn’t like. I would not normally spread a rumor but this one is in fitting with what happened to Joe the plumber. It also is more of what Bud talks about in his piece: anything to win. Are the Oborgbots really that desperate to smear the reporter for doing her job? And if they do this, is the campaign behind it?

By the way the blog is not showing this thread when I go directly to the blog home page. I found this by accident. I think the feeds are getting the latest posts which is why I spotted it.

    Alright folks…

…since the Obamacrat thugs use intimidation and destruction of property to prevent good people of sound mind to put McCain Palin Bumper stickers on their cars…

    …and…

…since all us scary racists and our 2nd ammendment rights make those poor fluffy homegrown terrorists and adorable socialists afraid to put Obama/Biden stickers on our cars for us in the light of day…

…I propose we come up with new Bumper Stickers based on words not names.

These are brilliant. Who can argue? It’s like Hope and Change.

These comments from Obama are going to hurt him significantly I think. Who knows what else is to come? I’ve been wondering what team Barky will do in response so I asked myself what I would do if I were them and had their lack of values. Here it is:

I’d say it’s all racist. The logic goes like this – of course black Americans are more interested in redistribution politics. Because of all the past discrimination they have endured they have been cheated for many generations out of their fair share of America. Now they want it back and it is racist to disrespect that natural and only fair sentiment.

This isn’t even redistribution. It is more like reparation.

    • http://JohnMcCain.com Galt, Master Thrall of Planet Triskelion

Reparations? How far should we go back, to ancient Egypt maybe? How about Atlantis? They must have had slaves! EVERY human being has slave ancestors. I want my check!

I think like many PUMAs who used to lean left in many regards I will become a conservative thanks to The Precious and his minions of brain dead sheeple. Work hard and prosper, no more handouts.

      • Shiloh

We all have both liberal and conservaative within us. It’s just a matter of one or the other coming to the forefront to meet the country’s need. I hope.

Can you invest a few days of your life to make history?

McCain-Palin 2008 is looking for volunteers who are willing to spend the final days of the campaign helping in a nearby state. Deployed volunteers will participate in a number of Get-Out-The-Vote activities. These activities will include making phone calls and going door to door.

Deployed volunteers will be unpaid and participants will be responsible for arranging their own transportation and housing; unfortunately, the campaign is unable to reimburse any expenses.

If you can afford the time and expense to serve the final days of the campaign through the election on November 4th, please apply on line at http://JohnMcCain.com/deployment and pack your bags!

    Thank you!

You know I volunteered to spend all day a few days before the election and on election day locally, and I’m in Ohio. I have never heard back from anyone. I’m about ready to call the Ohio McCain coordinator’s office. Anyone have the number?

      • democrat

What a crappy campaign they’re running. No wonder Obama is winning Ohio.

  • AM

This is a great way to practice Obama’s wealth distribution.

    “Kat says below:

Here is a creative approach to redistribution of wealth as offered in a
    local newspaper…

Today on my way to lunch I passed a homeless guy with a sign that read “Vote
Obama, I need the money.” I laughed.

Once in the restaurant my server had on a “Obama 08″ tie, again I laughed as
he had given away his political preference–just imagine the coincidence.

When the bill came I decided not to tip the server and explained to him that
I was exploring the Obama redistribution of wealth concept. He stood there
in disbelief while I told him that I was going to redistribute his tip to
someone who I deemed more in need–the homeless guy outside. The server
    angrily stormed from my sight.

I went outside, gave the homeless guy $10 and told him to thank the server
inside as I’ve decided he could use the money more. The homeless guy was
    grateful.

At the end of my rather unscientific redistribution experiment I realized
the homeless guy was grateful for the money he did not earn, but the waiter
was pretty angry that I gave away the money he did earn even though the
    actual recipient ‘deserved’ money more.

I guess redistribution of wealth is an easier thing to swallow in concept than in practical application.

  • Shiloh

Believe me Obama wants more than just simple redistribution. He wants a very targeted redistribution. He wants to move wealth from the “other” side of the political divide, to his side. He wants money to pay those who will become dependent on him to remain dependent on him.

    • Linda

Absolutely. He wants to move the wealth to his circle and limit the rest of us. All lower income that he can dole out bits and carrots.

Just like Uppity covered yesterday, the NEW Democratic Party is already working on this Socialist agenda.

A whole new meaning of redistribution. And to whom it affects.

We are now witnessing what the Democratic Leadership meant by “The NEW
Democratic Party”. Every day more we are seeing examples.

I surely did not hear any of this being
reported in the news cycles, did YOU? Especially considering the current
economic crisis. You would think that something that greatly impacts our
economy and personal incomes on the heart and soul of the country-Middle
Class, with raising taxes ON ALL INCOME BRACKETS, and would also cut
investments and savings in the private sector, which would also hurt
people from recouping losses they experienced in the downturn, that would
be pressing news the Corporate Media would be fast to discuss (snark).
Not if they are trying to control the information you receive.

“House Democrats contemplate abolishing 401(k) tax breaks
Mandatory contributions from workers considered ”
      October 12, 2008, 6:01 AM EST

“Powerful House Democrats are eyeing proposals to overhaul the nation’s $3
trillion 401(k) system, including the elimination of most of the $80
billion in annual tax breaks that 401(k) investors receive.

House Education and Labor Committee Chairman George Miller, D-Calif., and
Rep. Jim McDermott, D-Wash., chairman of the House Ways and Means
Committee’s Subcommittee on Income Security and Family Support, are
looking at redirecting those tax breaks to a new system of guaranteed
retirement accounts to which all workers would be obliged to contribute.

A plan by Teresa Ghilarducci, professor of economic-policy analysis at The
New School for Social Research in New York, contains elements that are
being considered. She testified last week before Mr. Miller’s Education
and Labor Committee on her proposal.

Under Ms. Ghilarducci’s plan, all workers would receive a $600 annual
inflation-adjusted subsidy from the U.S. government but would be required
to invest 5% of their pay into a guaranteed retirement account
administered by the Social Security Administration. The money in turn
would be invested in special government bonds that would pay 3% a year,
      adjusted for inflation.

The current system of providing tax breaks on 401(k) contributions and
      earnings would be eliminated.”
      http://www.investmentnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20081012/REG/310139971

YOU READ THAT CORRECTLY. THIS IS THE DEMOCRATS NEW VIEW OF HELPING THE
MIDDLE CLASS? …To get rid of tax breaks, because they see that as lost
revenue…for us to invest in our retirement savings PRIVATELY? They want
us to pay more taxes now on our retirement savings, BUT WORSE, they ALSO
WANT TO MANDATE US TO PAY AN ADDITIONAL 5 percent of our earnings in
separate government controled accounts to be handled by Social Security.
They can’t explain our lost money already, so they want to charge us
MORE? They really do want to control us, our money by taxing us
everywhere and limiting how much you can earn, because even on this
proposal they say the maximum earnings will be 3 percent.

This is surreal. They really do want to control wealth. Keep people
down. Charge them more in taxes and control how much they make. This is
insane. This does cry Socialism even if they don’t like the word.

Businesses will no longer offer 401K savings, because the loss of tax
breaks. Private sector again will suffer. Government will tax you to
death and control your earnings more. They are already getting in to the
banks with the bail out. And do you still believe they will be HELPING
      THE MIDDLE CLASS?

    • democrat

You mean his plan to restore the tax rates to what they were under Clinton? That’s his plan, you know. It’s quite odd that you consider that radical.

  • Linda

At least the view is nice from up here. And we don’t have to see the garbage if we were living in the gutter with the NEW Democratic Party.

We will have the freedom and space to promote that of what’s important and free from the shackles of toeing their line with their New Socialist Party until the Democratic Party returns to her roots of being FOR the People, not the few and proud to declare our Civil Rights, not control of the masses.

Right on, Right on, Right on. Excellent post Bud. Thank you.

I’ve learned that Obama could only get such large attendance at his recent Denver rally by offering:

    free food and drink

    free concert by Carlos Santana

free performance by comedian George Lopez

I wouldn’t be surprised if his campaign provided transport as well.

Now we know why he needs so much money — it ain’t cheap to buy those kinds of photo ops.

This is the last time I vote as a registered Democrat.
I didn’t change parties because I didn’t want to affect my voting privileges.

I’m through with the Democratic Party. Too many disappointments.
