I can’t believe that Bill Burton has resen to the level of prominence he seems to have speaking on behalf of The President of the United States. what a bunch of political thugs.

It seems everyone has the misconception that the money taxed from the rich will then be distributed to the poor. This is false, all that will happen is that the rich will pick up more of the tax burden and the poor will be relieved. If increasing one man’s taxes by 3% can then pay for a reduction in 1000 people taxes by 3%, why not do it? The rich buy luxury goods that ultimately are above the economy. I have some extremely rich friends (hundred millionaires) and they haven’t batted an eye during this economic downswing. They are still aggressive and are still making a lot of money. When the lower/middle class can spend, that is when the economy booms.

Yes, his surrogates need to bone up on the tax issues.

They could tighten the polls even more if they sharpen the message.

Today, there’s an excellent article on IBD. You can access it through RCP.

It spells out just why in the IBD polls, investors are fleeing from Obama. IBD showed McCain within 3 points yesterday. There’s a reason. The tax message is sinking in.

Increase in capital gains…..deadly now.
Return to the death tax…….let’s all pay the lawyers!
Increase on business tax….while we are the 2nd highest in the world right now.

Disastrous.

An extremely effective, ominous McCain ad featuring Biden’s warning about an impending attack is being aired here in Florida. It is being joined by “We are Joe the Plumber” and an empty oval office chair that declares that our current meltdown will “be Obama’s first crisis”.

All three are extremely strong and may have the same last-minute effect as Hillary’s “3 o’clock” ads did. The first two ads can be seen at McCain’s website but the chair one is put out by the RNC and I haven’t been able to find that one on the web.

I imagine that all three of them are playing in swing states since McCain saved his biggest ad buy for this week.
