“Tiny” * Open Thread

Obama will need more than a popular male prescription medication to get past this new McCain/Palin TV ad:

Tiny – 30 seconds

That was a vile intro, wasn’t it. But such fun to write. (My mother would have been aghast.) BUT, HARK! MORE IS TO COME! Truthteller is posting a critically important story about Israel, our vital ally in the Middle East. Stay tuned!

Oops! How did that second YouTube get in here? Okay, who did that?!?!?!?! I wonder if it’s someone who’s worried that Obama is going to cut our defense spending by one-fourth aka 25%? I wonder if it’s someone knows that, last count, over 300 flag officers have endorsed John McCain?

I imagine those 300+ flag officers who, even though they’re retired from the military, probably can’t sleep these last weeks of the presidential race.

Those retired military people, still experts in their fields, must be so worried that a complete amateur could become president.

Actually, it is wholly unfair to genuine amateurs to call Obama that. He is both unskilled and unschooled in this global game of life and death.

Here are Barack Obama’s words on May 18, 2008, in the rodeo town of Pendleton, Oregon which is, by the way, the land of sagebrush, tumbleweeds, rolling hills and wide vistas as well as a hell of a lot of cattle and horses, not to mention some authentic cowboys who bleed red, white and blue:

Strong countries and strong Presidents talk to their adversaries. That’s what Kennedy did with Khrushchev. That’s what Reagan did with Gorbachev. That’s what Nixon did with Mao. I mean think about it.

Iran, Cuba, Venezuela — these countries are tiny compared to the Soviet Union. They don’t pose a serious threat to us the way the Soviet Union posed a threat to us. And yet we were willing to talk to the Soviet Union at the time when they were saying we’re going to wipe you off the planet. And ultimately that direct engagement led to a series of measures that helped prevent nuclear war, and over time allowed the kind of opening that brought down the Berlin Wall. Now, that has to be the kind of approach that we take. You know, Iran, they spend one-one hundredth of what we spend on the military.

If Iran ever tried to pose a serio us threat to us, they wouldn’t stand a chance. And we should use that position of strength that we have to be bold enough to go ahead and listen. That doesn’t mean we agree with them on everything. We might not compromise on any issues, but at least we should find out other areas of potential common interest, and we can reduce some of the tensions that has caused us so many problems around the world.

I do believe Biden is right. If Obama is elected America will be tested.
Like he also said girt your lions and hang on.

    • Firefly

And while the inexperienced, unaccomplished, untested 0bama is being “tested,” Senator Biden, HOW MANY AMERICANS DO YOU THINK WILL DIE?

      • BernieO

Ironic that Obama mentions Kennedy talking to Khrushchev. When Kennedy met with Khrushchev in Vienna he was so inexperienced that by his own admission, he Khrushchev beat him up. As a result of that meeting as well as Kennedy’s blundering on the Bay of Pigs, Khruschev was emboldened to put those nukes into Cuba. In recent years we have learned just how close we came to all-out nuclear war. (Biden may think it was OK since JFK had learned a lot and both he and Khrushchev were rational enough to back down even though top advisors on both sides disagreed, I do not find this reassuring.)Kennedy had been a Congressman and a two term Senator, but did not work very hard at either. Still he was more experienced by far than Obama and still he brought us to the brink of the worst disaster in world history.

Talking if you are too inexperienced to know know you are doing can be a big mistake.

        • Ferd Mcberfle

In Kennedy’s defense, he was a lot smarter than Oblockhead. By that I mean to say waaaay smarter.

          • David

One thing on JFK………sorry but I must say this, he is responsible for the Vietnam war. I often wonder why those on the left always ignore this little nugget of info when they talk about “Camelot”.

            • Ferd Mcberfle

Actually, Ike sent in the first advisors, after he french left Indochine.

              • Tyrione

Actually, Ike sent in the first advisors, after he french left Indochine.

The parent poster is referring to the covert CIA operations that Kennedy authorized, after Eisenhower and those pocket warfare games accelerated the Vietnam War.

            • tek

JFK refused to escalate Vietnam. That’s one reason (maybe the main reason) he was assassinated.

          • Steve_in_KC

And let’s not forget that John Kennedy was a war hero from WWII. Those of us old enough will never forget the story of “PT-109.”

JFK was active in the US Congress during the Eisenhower years, when space exploration began as a military operation. He was well-acquainted with the nuclear missile programs from the beginning.

Although the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962 was breath-takingly close to a nuclear confrontation with the Soviet Union, it almost seems less dangerous a time, because back then the use of nukes would invoke the M.A.D. scenario – Mutually Assured Destruction. In today’s dangerous world of “suitcase nukes,” we don’t have to worry about two Superpowers staring each other down, we have to worry that the pleasure boat cruising into the harbor can take out NYC or LA. We have to worry about thousands of suicide bombers and dirty bombs.

I think we were much safer back then.

The thought of this naive namby-pamby being all that stands between us and “them” scares the bejeesus out of me.

            • KathyNeocon

Obama doesn’t belong in the same sentence as JFK in terms of leadership, capability, patriotism and on and on. Only Obama and his Obots believe he’s on par with if not better than JFK.

        • angie

Exactly — whoever believes Obama’s revisionist history is so ignorant about history that they should not be allowed to vote. JFK’s “talks without preconditions” with Khruschev lead directly to the Cuban Missile Crisis. Furthermore, it is what lead to the building of the Berlin Wall — not the tearing down of the Wall. Is Obama so ignorant that he thinks the Berlin Wall was already up when JFK met with Khruschev? Obviously, but then again he thinks US forces liberated Aushwitz, so what can you do? Oh, yeah, btw Obots — the Berlin Wall did NOT come down because the “world stood as one against the USSR” — as Obama says. The Berlin Wall came down because we, the USA, stood our ground against the USSR — the “rest of the world” had little to do with it. Put down the kool aid & pick up a fucking book.

Like he also said girt your lions and hang on.
      =====================================================================

I think you meant to say ‘gird’ your ‘loins’ and hang on” ;)

Actually, the expression – girding your loins – means get ready to go to war. So is that what Joe Biden is saying – is this the draft we are hearing about? Is this what an Obama presidency will bring about? A draft for all Americans, 18 and over (including young women by the way)?

Mr. Obama is just not ready to be President and commander in Chief. It isn’t only the retired generals who have come out in numbers for John McCain it is the currently active ones also. McCain has said he will not support a draft. Volunteer Army only.

      • Steve_in_KC

And for the benefit of those who don’t understand this expression, it’s really quite literal. Preparing for battle, men would wrap their vulnerable private parts, like a jock strap. Gird means “encircle, or bind” and loins… well, you can figure that one out! ;)

“They don’t pose a threat to us”. This guy must have a turd in his pocket. Hell no, they don’t pose a threat to HIM (Obama) because he is one of THEM. But they do pose a threat to US under HIM.

    • http://noquarterusa.net/ SusanUnPC

I’m close to editing your comment. We do not believe that he is one of “them.” We don’t need to make such allegations. We have enough real concerns — in this story, the concern is about his inexperience.

    • Zeke

Having dinner with Ayers to toast Khalidi and applaud the destruction of Israel is as near as one need get in order to be classified as one of “them” for God’s sake.
“Redistributing the wealth” of people earning as little as $140,000 and giving it to the grasshoppers is also, IMHO, being one of Them.
If he gets money from repeat credit card hits straight from GAZA and he keeps the money, he is one of them.
If he perjures himself about where his passport is from, his membership in SDS, his association with and conspiracy with Ayers, (note your own radio recordings where Ayers shills for Obama about Socialism) then he sure as hell IS one of THEM.
He is not for America. Obama hates America the same way that skinheads hate other ethnics. He was raised that way.
Every person he ever admired is one of THEM.

  • FenelonSpoke

And you’re a re-run, troll. And this 30 year Democrat doesn’t give a darn about your opinion. I will vote for McCain-Palin, for a Republican for the first time in my life.

    Maybe this will do in place of the whitey tape;

    http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/1008/McCain_camp_demands_LA_Times_video.html

It would be so nice to see Obama nodding and clapping as the jew-bashing goes full tilt, don’t you think?

    • csuzeq

I want to see that whitey tape! You betchya! I was telling a coworker earlier, I am sure for the right dollar amount, they will release it. I wish I had a ton of money. I’d pay for it.

  • McHope

    Obama IS the threat.

  • Ferd McBerfle

The one thing I get from Oblockhead every time I hear him speak, gesture, and interact with others, is that he is the consummate wussy. If he were a state, his flower would be the pansy.

    • Zeke

I agree wholeheartedly. I’ve had trouble trying to fit the dude into a pack of people. He controls, but not in the typical fashion an Alpha Male would. Certainly he poses no physical,
one to one threat and I don’t see him as being even one of those “cat-like” dudes who many misread.
He dislikes the military simply because there are so many Alphas there. Military people look at him and see right through him. Obama is actually, (and forgive me all you strong sisters) a male operating as a contemporary Alpha Female.

By the way, I was in a place with Joe Biden once. Stood about five feet from him. I didn’t see any Alpha there behind his eyes either. I saw a guy who had faked it for so long that he believes his own press. That frikken sideways grin of his makes ya want to smack him…

I did go to the Google, I came up with something about pulling your tunic up about your waist and tieing it up in a manner which will increase your mobility and agility. So you won’t get all tangled up in the fabric if you have to make a fast break.

For someone who went to Harvard and graduated with honors Obama does not seem like a deep thinker at all and he is dangerously naive. A bad combination in a potential President, IMO.

For someone who went to Harvard and graduated with honors Obama does not seem like a deep thinker at all and he is dangerously naive. A bad combination in a potential President, IMO.

Going to Harvard guarantees nothing regarding wisdom, reticence and critical reasoning. You can get those at any one of over 100 Universities in the states.

The lack of in-the-trenches lawyership regarding Criminal Law, Civil Law and Corporate Law, let alone ever doing an internship with the Supreme Court, but still managing to be the Editor of the Harvard Law Review seems spurious, at best.

    obama buddy heads to jail:

CNN) — Calling him “arrogant and defiant,” a Wayne County Circuit Judge on Tuesday sentenced former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick to four months in jail with no early release under the terms of a plea deal.

Kilpatrick pleaded guilty last month to two felony obstruction of justice charges stemming from his efforts to cover up an extramarital affair. He also pleaded no contest to charges of assaulting a police officer attempting to serve a subpoena on a Kilpatrick friend in that case.
    http://www.cnn.com/2008/CRIME/10/28/detroit.mayor.sentenced/index.html

kilpatrick was obama’s man in Detroit. kilpatrick had a voter turn out machine obama needed. obama had praised kilpatrick as a mayor who would do good things for Detriot. Now kilpatrick is haeaded for jail. That’s not obama’s fault. obama didn’t know the guy was a just a gaint jackass. obama didn’t know the guy. He needed his turn out machine so they were buddies.

But it’s important because a young woman that was one of tens of thousands of volunteers for mccain’s campaign lied to the police. The “liberal media” immediately said bad news for mccain. Here is the important part: An obama endorsed candidate heads to jail an no mention from the “liberal media.” The press will not track down every obama spokesman across the country demanding a statement on obama’s old pal kilpatrick. The press will not demand statements from axlerove and fluff on just how much this hurts obama. The press will not hound obama and obiden for statements on kilpatrick. The cable shows will not endlessly discuss how much obama’s old pal heading for jail hurts obama. But if the shoe were on the other foot we know what would happen.

    • notrees

Forget the media. It’s a waste of time even thinking about them as a source of national interest. Think of them as gossip coulmns.

Till the Whitey tape surfaces, this should do nicely:

    http://www.michelleobamathesis.com/

    • http://www.MichelleObamaThesis MichelleObamaThesis.com

I am the moderator for http://www.MichelleObamaThesis.com

I wanted to tell you all why.

A very liberal friend of mine told me about a month ago he was not voting for Obama because he read Michelle’s thesis. He said if this is the mind of the person who is most close to Obama, he can no longer vote for him. He said he felt Michelle was polarized permanently against whites.

That is why I made the site. It gets about 1000 hits a day. (As I break my back 6 hours a day posting in forums)

The average Internet surfer could have found the thesis with a few searches….but most people believe it or not are NOT average. They cannot figure out the internet.

So…..by using the name MICHELLEOBAMATHESIS……In the Domain…I’d say quite a few people are now finding the site because its extra dummy proof. (heehee)

I just gotta assume that quite a few people each day who read the site are converting or deciding not to vote. A no vote for Obama is a great vote for McCain.

SO I HUMBLY BEG EVERYONE TO SPREAD THE LINK AROUND PLEASE. TIME IS RUNNING OUT AND THIS SITE IS CONVERTING VOTES EVERY SINGLE DAY.

      REPEAT:
THIS SITE IS CONVERTING VOTES EVERY SINGLE DAY

I am about -$500.0 out of my pocket so far. That is a small price to pay if the site gets MORE traffic. My posting the URL in MANY forums, the site can roar up to high rankings on Google and Yahoo.

      If you Google…

      MichelleObamaThesis

      The site is number one.

      But if you Google….

      Michelle Obama Thesis

      The site doesn’t show up.

Politico lists the Thesis as a PDF. Old people don’t understand PDFs! That’s why http://www.MichelleObamaThesis.com has the Thesis in TEXT!!!

Please POST http://www.MichelleObamaThesis.com everywhere and it will convert thousands of voters. Cant do it all myself people!! HELP!!!!

Obama is running ads every five minutes here in Florida telling the elderly that McCain is going to cut their Social Security, Medicare and prescription benefits. I haven’t heard one McCain ad countering that lie.

The elderly are afraid of losing their benefits, that will out weigh any other fear they may have about Obama.

I’m finding people are more worried about their money than their safety at the moment. Is anyone in the McCain camp listening?

    • Mercedes

That’s interesting. In Colorado last week, the McCain campaign was running these sappy ads that showed McCain in a shiny gold tie reassuring people that his administration would rebuild people’s savings, cut taxes, etc. He should have been letting loose on criminals on Wall St, wasteful spending by big government Democrats, and his double-talking opponent.

Sounds to me like somebody is giving McCain’s campaign the WRONG advice. His ads need to hit Obama really hard, sick grandmother or no sick grandmother….threats of violence from Obama thugs or not.

If Iran ever tried to pose a serio us threat to us, they wouldn’t stand a chance.

Obama is naive to say this. We are not their target. Israel is. How can anyone expect this guy to lead? Some Israeli news paper is quoting Sarkozy calling Obama immature with his Iran policy.

    • Doc99

French President Nicolas Sarkozy is very critical of U.S. presidential candidate Barack Obama’s positions on Iran, according to reports that have reached Israel’s government.

Sarkozy has made his criticisms only in closed forums in France. But according to a senior Israeli government source, the reports reaching Israel indicate that Sarkozy views the Democratic candidate’s stance on Iran as “utterly immature” and comprised of “formulations empty of all content.”

I studied with Tony Robbins years ago and learned several NLP techniques from him – I never went far enough to do much hypnosis myself, though.

We were all hypnotized before we did our 50-foot firewalk (firewalks used to be one of Tony Robbins’ “things” – have no idea if they still are) – the thing was, he brought in another hypnotist to do the job. Might have been a different case, though, because it wasn’t stealth – we all were told we were being hypnotized.

This infomercial is obviously aimed at last-minute deciders – and the effects wouldn’t have to last that long – only 5 days – he could be setting up anchors and triggers in his 30-minute whateveritis.

Don’t quite know what I’m trying to say here – I’m just hoping barky can’t do that much harm in a half hour. Mostly I just hope most people won’t tune in to him at all…

My prediction is that Obama will manage to piss off most Philly and Tampa fans who are anxiously awaiting for Game 5 to resume. Two important states, one big Obama blunder. My guess? The fans of either team will blame Obama and his stupid infomercial for jinxing their chances.

      • Ferd Mcberfle

At this point, I’ll even take that as a reason to NOT vote for Oblockhead, just so long as people get out there and vote against that half-wit.

CNN rejected Obama ad FOX not asked

Make of this what you will: CNN says the Barack Obama campaign tried to purchase airtime tomorrow night on the network to run its 30-minute primetime ad. The news network says it rejected the request.

    From a CNN spokesperson:

We were approached by the Obama campaign and declined their request. We did not want to pre-empt our programming lineup with a 30-minute spot. We rather use our air to continue to cover the campaign, candidates and issues like we always do from all points of view with the best political team on television.

Fox News, sources say, was not approached by the Obama campaign. Sources point out that the ad is already airing on the Fox broadcast network. MSNBC, however, is airing the ad despite it running on its broadcast partner NBC.

Both news networks say they plan to cover the ad as part of their usual nightly news programming.

“CNN will cover it as a news story just like we do with all the other campaign ads,” the statement read.

The Obama ad was first reported by The Live Feed. Yesterday the blog broke that ABC would not air the ad along with broadcasters CBS, NBC and Fox.

Unlike the news networks, ABC’s reasoning was more influenced by long-term programming goals — executives were initially hesitant to air an ad that pre-empted struggling show “Pushing Daisies.” The network eventually changed its mind, but by then the offer was off the table.

Oh the irony! Der Precious’ campaign is pushing daisies (struggling) and he is forced to try and buy a huge chunk of airtime. Only Oborgbots are going to watch the fucking idiot anyway.

They finally figured out after being blistered at McCain/Palin rallies that people REALLY think they are biased jerks.

It took people, not the pundits, to get them to pay attention.

What’s pathetic about that is, What the heck are they doing trying to run a national network and remain that out of touch?

    • tek

Obama doesn’t need to “buy time” on CNN. That channel is already all Obama all the time.

    • fif

Yea right. “From all points of view.” Nice try CNN. Your credibility is shot.

How Barack Obama learned to love Israel
Ali Abunimah, The Electronic Intifada, 4 March 200

Over the years since I first saw Obama speak I met him about half a dozen times, often at Palestinian and Arab-American community events in Chicago including a May 1998 community fundraiser at which Edward Said was the keynote speaker. In 2000, when Obama unsuccessfully ran for Congress I heard him speak at a campaign fundraiser hosted by a University of Chicago professor. On that occasion and others Obama was forthright in his criticism of US policy and his call for an even-handed approach to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

The last time I spoke to Obama was in the winter of 2004 at a gathering in Chicago’s Hyde Park neighborhood. He was in the midst of a primary campaign to secure the Democratic nomination for the United States Senate seat he now occupies. But at that time polls showed him trailing.

As he came in from the cold and took off his coat, I went up to greet him. He responded warmly, and volunteered, “Hey, I’m sorry I haven’t said more about Palestine right now, but we are in a tough primary race. I’m hoping when things calm down I can be more up front.” He referred to my activism, including columns I was contributing to the The Chicago Tribune critical of Israeli and US policy, “Keep up the good work!”

Obama has also been close to some prominent Arab Americans, and has received their best advice. His decisive trajectory reinforces a lesson that politically weak constituencies have learned many times: access to people with power alone does not translate into influence over policy. Money and votes, but especially money, channelled through sophisticated and coordinated networks that can “bundle” small donations into million dollar chunks are what buy influence on policy. Currently, advocates of Palestinian rights are very far from having such networks at their disposal. Unless they go out and do the hard work to build them, or to support meaningful campaign finance reform, whispering in the ears of politicians will have little impact. (For what it’s worth, I did my part. I recently met with Obama’s legislative aide, and wrote to Obama urging a more balanced policy towards Palestine.)

If disappointing, given his historically close relations to Palestinian-Americans, Obama’s about-face is not surprising. He is merely doing what he thinks is necessary to get elected and he will continue doing it as long as it keeps him in power. Palestinian-Americans are in the same position as civil libertarians who watched with dismay as Obama voted to reauthorize the USA Patriot Act, or immigrant rights advocates who were horrified as he voted in favor of a Republican bill to authorize the construction of a 700-mile fence on the border with Mexico.

Only if enough people know what Obama and his competitors stand for, and organize to compel them to pay attention to their concerns can there be any hope of altering the disastrous course of US policy in the Middle East. It is at best a very long-term project that cannot substitute for support for the growing campaign of boycott, divestment and sanctions needed to hold Israel accountable for its escalating violence and solidifying apartheid.

I suspect his heart lies with Palestine and he is using the Jewish people to get elected.

I agree. Obama is from the same mindset as Farrakan and Rev Wright when it comes to Jews. It’s pitiful that so many Jews are voting for Obama and even Obots. I know a Jewish lady who is an absolutely rabid Obot. You can’t talk to her right now because she automatically goes in Obama worship speak. It’s sad.

While his teleprompter-induced oratorical wizardry is just the other side of sanitized hogwash and dry as dust, his impromptu rhetoric piques my curiosity and is quite interesting because he’s certainly not glib and is terrible at getting any sort of coherent message across. and meanwhile in Pakistan:

Pakistan rejects ‘America’s war’ on extremists
    • Parliament vows to end military action on border
    • Relations with US will be strained by new strategy

Serious doubts multiplied yesterday about Pakistan’s commitment to America’s military campaign against al-Qaida and the Taliban after parliament overwhelmingly passed a resolution calling for dialogue with extremist groups and an end to military action.

The new strategy, backed by all parties, emerged after a fierce debate in parliament where most parliamentarians said that Pakistan was paying an unacceptable price for fighting “America’s war”. If implemented by the government, support for Pakistan from international allies would come under severe strain, adding further instability to a country facing a spiral of violence and economic collapse.

I am a black, democratic, female, former Hillary supporter not voting for Obama. Since the economic melt down Sen Obama has laid the blame completely and squarely on the repubs with absolutely no responsibility for the dems. My research shows that the one person in the country who bears the most responsibility for the economic mortgage disaster and resulting Wall Street debacle is Obama along with his democratic cohorts. The country may be on the verge of electing the same crooks that got us into this mess. WAKE UP AMERICA, THE DEMS ARE MOSTLY TO BLAME FOR THIS ECONOMIC FIASCO.

    1. 1995>> Through Acorn’s community and legal actions, Sen Obama & other attorneys sued Citibank Federal Savings Bank in Chicago in federal court charging racial discrimination in housing lending.
    2. 1998>> They won the case, bank entered into a consent decree to lend money for housing to less qualified buyers with insufficient collateral.
    3. 1999>> Clinton administration entered into other consent decrees with other banks. Eventually Fannie Mae (FM) and Freddie Mac (FM) backed these mortgages.
    4. FM & FM backed mortgages mainly caused the economic melt down.
    5. Through his action and inaction, Sen Obama bares a heavy responsibility for the stock market losses impacting 401ks, retirement, and other income. In 2005, Sen John McCain attempted to prevent this melt down through needed legislation. Dems stonewalled. Sen Obama did nothing.

    Susan,

IMO they need to cut the defense budget by 25% for starters. do you have any idea the latest defense budget that they passed under your radar screen while you were paying attention to the ‘paulson bailout’ robber-barons scheme? try $1 trillion. and a lot of it is wasteful spending, not to mention padding of personal fortunes by those working as defense contractors. in another life, what some of them are doing to the american public/taxpayers would have been called ‘treason’, but alas in bush-land anything goes for their cronies, just so long as they don’t get prosecuted for it.

      • J

        Sarah Tufts,

With due respect, I have spent my whole adult life in the mud, blood, and beer. We’re being hosed by defense contractors and corrupt politicans. The Soviet boogy man was blown way out of proportion to what the Soviet/Warsaw Pact forces were in reality, it was called ‘propaganda’ a.k.a. fearmongering upon our citizenry in order to garner the financial support for unnecessary weapons systems and so much overkill it wasn’t funny. So you can stop with your bottom side crap.

Obama’s associations are downplayed by the main stream media and the left. But the truth is, because of his associations, Obama would be considered a High Threat Risk and would not be admitted on a White House tour. Don’t miss this latest from Illuminatitv, Code Red:
