Obama’s Hopey Dopey Dance * Open Thread

Yesterday, CJ posted a lovely tidbit about a very interesting reaction to Senator Obama’s infomercial. I had it as a capper to my story today, Obama Gets A Smackdown from Both Likely and Unlikely Sources After His Infomercial, but we here at NoQuarter thought it deserved its own thread.

Just to ease the stress…

Again, CJ, all our thanks for this very original review of both Senator Obama’s infomercial and his economic policies:

“Caught the show, too, with a house full of my son’s friends, late twenties, early thirties. These guys got up and did the hopey dopey. Pretty funny.

You put your paycheck in, you take your paycheck out, you put your paycheck in and you shake it all about. You do the hopey dopey and you pay the other guy, that’s what’s all about.

You put your service hours in, you take your service hours out, you put your service hours in and you shake em all about. You do the hopey dopey and you work yourself to the ground, that’s what it’s all about.

That’s a sample, it went on and on. I guess there are no BO supporters in this house here in Calif.”

Priceless.

“Hopey Dopey”….that’s what it’s all about!
I like it, rather catchy and appropriate.

Did you hear the one about Obama throwing his illegal Aunt under the bus? He claims he didn’t know she was illegal and the authorities should do whatever they need to.

    A must see video.

Infomercial perfection is usually reserved for pancake flippers and vacuum cleaners. Selling BO like a shiny new gadget seems somehow fitting.

However, sales will be disappointing and the buyer’s remorse inconsolable.

The best reaction to obamas infomercial is from london, U.K. Its hilarious…http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/us_and_americas/article5044429.ece

I think it was Dick Morris who said last night that Obama was down considerably with the 20-30 year old demographic because of his “spread the wealth” thingy which clearly supports CJ’s son’s friends reaction.

By the way, John McCain will be on Saturday Night Live tonight and Ben Affleck will play Keith Olbermann. Apparently Olbermann showed up on the set when Affleck was practicing and unnerved everyone. What a jerk!

    Should be interesting!

    From the AP

WASHINGTON – Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama said Saturday he didn’t know that one of his relatives was living in the United States illegally and believes the appropriate laws should be followed.

So under the bus goes his dear Auntie!

I haven’t been following this blog as often as I used to for the last couple of days and so my apologies if this has already been posted:

NY Newsday, a paper that endorsed Obama, ran the online AP story about Obama’s Auntie living in public housing illegally. This is what I posted in the comment section:

Notice the article said she called him TWO YEARS ago to let him know she was living in Boston.

It was TWO YEARS ago that he started running for president.

So he turns his back on her.

This is the guy quoting the bible to us and telling us we are our brother’s keeper and should pay higher taxes so he can “spread the wealth around.”

Yet he ignores his poverty stricken aunt who he mentions in his book.

My granny used to say: Charity begins at home.

    Obama is a hypocrite.

My granny also used to say:

“Tell me who your friends are and I’ll tell you who you are.”

Ayers, Rezko, Khalidi, Frank Marshall Davis, Susan Power, David Manning, Rev. Wright, Ali Abunimah, Father Phlegler, … radical, anti-Israel activists who hate the USA.

Yeah, I know who Obama is.

He’s their Manchurian Candidate. No thabk you.

Fellow NQ bloggers-This is OT BUT IMPORTANT.

    PLEASE GET OUT THE VOTE:

1-call family, friends this weekend and -make sure they know where they have to go to vote & ask if they need a ride.If they do, arrange for one.

2- Call your local Republican office and volunteer to work as OBSERVER at your local poll.

BY LAW, polling clerks MUST provide duplicate list of local registered voters at each polling location.
Polling clerks are supposed to update this list EVERY HOUR and keep it available for public review.

Check with your local Republican headquarters if anyone has been assigned to particular polling locations in your neighborhood to review this list.

If no one has been assigned, offer to go look through the book at around 5 or 6pm and see which registered voters names HAVE NOT BEEN CROSSED OFF YET.

IF their names have not been crossed off, it means they have not voted yet. If they have not voted yet, copy their phone numbers & CALL THEM IMMEDIATELY.

The book contains names, phone numbers, and addresses of the registered voters.

Call these registered voters who have not voted yet and remind them what time polls close, ask if they know which poll site they have to go to vote, ask t hem if they need help getting to the polls.Do this right up until the polls close.

PLEASE…THIS WILL BE A VERY VERY Tight race.
We need to make sure the registered voters vote.

Please copy this message and pass it on to friends and family and neighbors and colleagues.

FOLKS – THIS NEEDS TO GET OUT

Apparently, a January 23rd letter written by Clinton Campaign lawyer Lyn Utrecht has surfaced, and it details voter intimidation and voter suppression in the Nevada caucus.

I was wondering when some of this would come to the surface.

I think this is a story that might have some legs, given all attention that ACORN is drawing these days.

OBAMA “Share the Wealth” VIDEO: Obama calls $1 Trillion tax hike a “small adjustment” by re-defining $97K family income as “upper class”

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-SavgJlBLA

The key minute: Watch from 1:15 to 2:15 for Obama’s remarkable claim that $97K family income is “upper class”

I found a video clip in which Obama totally redefines what middle/upper class income is and who should pay more taxes. He is quoted on video. I think this is newsworthy, given the current focus on Obama’s plan to tax a larger number of families. The video shows Obama directly stating this. It is far less difficult to interpret than, say, the Chicago NPR audio-only about redistributive change. This is a video that’s ready-made for a campaign spot and for video news releases. All people will understand it.

In this video, Obama defined $97,000 family income as “upper class” and subject to $1 Trillion in tax increases in debate within the last year and in policy proposals. He also makes a similar claim in writing in an Op-Ed (see below).

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-SavgJlBLA

Of course there are other videos of this same debate, Nov 2007, Las Vegas from which you can clip these quotes, but this one just puts in the context of Obama/Biden redefining Middle Class income from $250K to $200K to $150K to $97K is “upper class.” and the top group—and subject to big tax hikes.

    http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/story?id=3638710&page=1

I wonder how many families with 2 or 3 kids in middle class suburbs of our major cities would consider their $97 K income to be “upper class.” If any of those kids plan to go to college, the families will hardly be living like the upper class on $97K.

    Obama’s Op-Ed

    http://www.qctimes.com/articles/2007/09/21/opinion/opinion/doc46f35dac127eb409456532.txt

“… raise the cap on the amount of income subject to the Social Security tax. If we kept the payroll tax rate exactly the same but applied it to all earnings and not just the first $97,500, we could virtually eliminate the entire Social Security shortfall.” – Op-Ed by Barack Obama, Quad City Times, Sep., 2007

Okay, here’s a snip from the story:

Ms Onyango was the first Kenyan relative to welcome Mr Obama on his first visit to his father’s homeland in 1988, and she is a large character in his best-selling memoir Dreams From My Father.

“‘Welcome home’, Zeituni said, kissing me on both cheeks,” Mr Obama wrote.

Yep, Obama treats people like toilet paper, use and flush.

    Benjamin-
That story is legitimate. It had strong legs but the main stream media crushed those legs.
What happened during the Democratic party primary is heinous.

I WAS a lifelong Democrat since I could legally vote.

My parents and siblings and spouse and my children WERE lifelong Democrats UNTIL we realized what was happening during the Democratic party-AND- that these actions were being perpetrated BY OUR OWN DEMOCRATIC PARTY leadership and The Obama campaign…AND…our main stream media was helping them get away with it…

My family members mentioned above (except for four members who support Ralph Nader) are ALL voting for McCain/Palin.

View the video’s released on August 9th 2008 by the Sam J
Ervin Jr, former chairman of Watergate commission, library and museum in Morgantown NC. According to producers, the DNC (with the support of the MSM) has perpetuated a crime and fraud against the American voters by claiming Obama as the presumptive nominee.

SEN CLINTON LOST BY 4 DELEGATE VOTES & NOT ALL VOTES COUNTED!

  • Susan1968

To my Democrat, Republican and Independent fellow Americans.

Today, November 1st, is my birthday and I want to share my brithday wish with you.

    Please vote for John McCain.

Yes, I’m an unoffical PUMA who refused to vote for Obama after what the DNC did to the Clintons.

However, I could have applied my vote elsewhere — there were a number of other presidential choices on my early voting FL ballot. Or, I could have just stayed home in protest.

Here’s why I voted for McCain and felt good about it.

McCain is the only Senator who continually reached across the aisle to the opposing party to get things done in Congress.

He did it in spite of becoming unpopular with his own party. You can NOT find another Democrat or Republican who worked as hard as Mac to be BI-PARTISAN.

He was the DNC’s favorite Republican. So popular with Democrat insiders, that John Kerry BEGGED McCain to be his VP running mate in 2004. If McCain was good enough for Kerry he is good enough for us now.

The smear campaign by Kerry and other dems who used to sing Mac’s praises, claims that “McCain has changed,” in the last 4 years is pure BULL.

This is a good man with NO PRETENSIONS.

He had a life changing experience in that Viet Nam prison. Going through that tested his mettle.

Personally, he’s a breat of fresh air. So is Sarah Palin.

I’m sick and tired of this country being run by Ivy-League, arm chair warriors who NEVER DID A HARD THING IN THEIR ENTIRE LIVES.

Some of us may not agree with 100% of McCain’s policies but I’ll tell you this — at least we know where he’s coming from. There will be no scary surpises with McCain. There will be no secret agendas with McCain.

    He is still the Straight-talker.

    I TRUST HIM.

And in closing remeber — if you vote McCain you wil ALSO be making history.

Mac will be the FIRST VIET NAM VET in the office of president. And Palin will be the first woman VP.

Don’t cast a vote for Obama only to prove you’re not racists. We will one day have an AA president, a woman president, a Latino president, an Asian president.

Because this is the destiny of the USA.

But this man Obama is NOT the one.

Vote McCain/Palin and feel good about it.

    Confessions of an ex Democrat

I started out this “election season” two years ago pulling for Hillary. By the time the Virginia primary rolled around, I voted for the one. Yes, I sipped the koolaid. A week later the Rev. Wright story broke across the nation. I have never felt so betrayed by a candidate in my life and the day Ted Kennedy endorsed the one, was the day I became a republican. Since then, I have seen the one in an entirely different light and I am truly amazed that anyone can vote for him knowing what we know about him now. I know that I will always be ashamed of the vote I gave him in the primary. I can not even look at him on TV and I can’t stand the sound of his voice. Don’t know what I will do if he wins. Right now, I am not watching TV anyway, I guess I will start reading a lot more and maybe have a cleaner house.

I have never been so caught up in a political race in my life. At this time, I am not sleeping and I am totally obsessed with what is going on. I am 44 years old and have never voted for anything except a democrat in all my voting years. I voted for Bill Clinton 2 times and am one of those who would have voted for him a 3rd time if possible. I voted for Al Gore and I also reluctantly voted for John Kerry even though we all knew he was a sinking ship.

I have always voted for the prochoice candidate, but now I think it is time for women to make better choices starting with the low life they choose to have sex with. That is the ultimate choice they need to make.

I am absolutly sick from this election. I am not a religious person, but I am daily praying that he loses. I pray that he will be in Trinity United Church next Sunday morning in the arms of Rev. Wright crying his eyes out in front of God and the world with his angry wife kicking his ass the whole time.

Sorry for the somber tone, but this has all taken its toll on me and I needed to get some of this off of my chest. I am so very grateful for NQ as well as PUMAPAC. I would be totally insane if it weren’t for those two sites. Thank you for listening to me now.

Oh, and did I mention that I LOVE SARAH PALIN!!!

repost from other open thread as FYI

I watched that interview. Very cute. Kinda hokey but cute!

Ok some local news………. just got back from checking out a couple neighborhoods for yard signs (south Asheville)

First we drove through an older middle class neighborhood (homes now worth maybe 200-300K and at least 10 yrs old)

    7 – 1 Mac signs over Bambi

thennnnnnnn we drove over to a very wealthy new neighborhood where the homes probably START at 600K and go upwards of 3mill

    dammit

5 Bambi yard signs to only ONE for MACK!!
(the name of the road leading into this area is called technology way if that tells you anything)

so we came home with an 8-6 lead for MACK

also saw about a dozen MORE road signs for Mack that were not there yesterday……… someone is replacing the ones that keep getting stolen – only a couple for BAMA

    tomorrow I will venture north
and we keep doing this because gas is now down to 2.35!!

    W00T!

  • DAB

Usually SNL will give a guest at least one line that showcases their strength. They didn’t do this with Palin but she ran with it anyways and trumped their intent.

So I understand how you can be worried about McCain’s appearance. It’s unlikely that they will offer him up any boffo lines since that might make him appear too funny. Might actually effect the election.

P.S. Just saw a Biden/Murtha skit from last week’s SNL online and it was hilarious. Funny, but I didn’t hear about it on the MSM at all. Guess they just didn’t enjoy the message.

  • Diana

Powerful, moving video. If McCain wins the election I think it’s time to do away with these polls they’ve proved how irrelevant they’ve been in the past 2 elections. All they’ve done this year is promote further division in the American people along with ACORN who will also have to be dismantled. The government giving millions of our tax dollars to a partisan group. I am quite sure there are laws against this. We need to do something about the MSM and Newspapers. All that have promoted hatred and division in this country. No matter who wins we have a lot of work left to do. What we’re doing here is just a beginning.

Just a thought about the Latino Vote.

First of all, Latinos are not automatically illegal.
This is why I think that the lagal ones will vote like an American, not like an illegal.

But what I really wanted to say is this.
I am a permanent resident (married) from Germany, you might have heard that we have a lot of turkish people in Germany.
A funny thing I heard about them voting is that they choose the conservative party. The party that carries a C for christian in their name.
I always thought that’s strange since Turks are muslim.
Especially since the other party always pretends to stand up for them (sounds familiar?).
But the answer is Conservative is Coservative, and Religious is Religious.
So this is the party of their choice.

Latinos are VERY religious, and when they are lagal here they are also proud to be Americans.

Long story short, te Latinos are not going to vote for BO in big numbers.
(the illegals maybe, but are they allowed to vote? *joke*)
McCain is also no hardliner on that issue.

A heads up on the “convincing” verbiage used to share (tell) voters who is going tow win. For goodness sake with the millions that fools has, and all that support he should be ahead by 15-20 points, but he never gets there does he? No amount of lying, no amount of cheating and he can throw all the money he wants at this election, he can’t get enough votes to show a real lead. It’s great comedy, further, it will be delicious to watch the implosion when he loses on Tuesday.

The rest of the numbers were disconnected numbers or fax machines or answering machines. I for sure don’t envy telemarketers.

Only if ACORN has registered them as dead.

yep, me 3. McCain coming to Miami on Sunday — Hispanic vote (acc. to exit polls) going in his favor so far. Miami Herald today wrote that the early voting has “the Democrats” out ahead — that just means who voted according to what party they’re registered with and that means that all of us registered Dems voting for McCain/Palin are going to mess up the predictions….

  • McKatmoon

Dawnelle, yours will be ringing in my ears, and joining one great belly laugh of my own! I get tickled just thinking of the sour faces of the msm, because they will be covering it all, hahha, yea it makes me get that smug smile.

Hispanics will vote for whoever will let them stay here and bring all their relatives over. They used to be Republicans but Barry is promising to give them billions if he gets in.

  • tek

That’s interesting considering that the media outlets Murdoch owns in this country are all Obama all the time.

looks like a class warfare election with the addition of 99 percent of the AA’s are voting with the RICH PEOPLE

but the middle class in general around here so far is overwhelmingly for Mack.

I will check more neighborhoods tomorrow

I do believe there are more middle class and poor people (even with out the AA’s) to win this election.

Although there are a LOT more rich than I ever remember in the past. Some of these neighborhoods around here are amazing and all of them have basketball hoops set up so there are kids which means they are YOUNG couples with a LOTTTTTTTTT of money.

I still think there are more poor than rich. I could be wrong though.

  • McKatmoon

Same here in Tenn, but you don’t have to register by party, so that helps. It was nice to vote, no problems, I was properly identified, everything handled on the up and up. I hope others have the same experience of a vote being cast legally. We did bring back up ID and records, because of having moved in the last year, but they had our new address correct, imagine that!

    Barack Obama Offers Nothing New

    By JONAH GOLDBERG

There’s an old saying: The oldest word in American politics is “new.” Only in that sense is there anything new to Barack Obama.
Obama prefers the word “progressive” to “liberal” because it makes it sound like he’s shedding old liberal ideas. But if he is, it’s only to embrace older ones.

America first encountered the vision Obama espouses under Woodrow Wilson, the first progressive President and the first to openly disparage the U.S. Constitution as a hindrance to enlightened government. His new idea was to replace it with a “living constitution” that empowered government to evolve beyond that document’s constraints.

The Bill of Rights, lamented the progressives, inhibited what the government can do to people, but it failed to delineate what it must do for people.

The old conception of individualism needed to be replaced by a new system in which the citizen would “marry his interests to the state,” in Wilson’s words. This would allow the state to fulfill the progressive pledge to “spread the prosperity around.”

Obama shares Wilson’s faith in a living constitution and has [even] argued that Supreme Court judges should be confirmed based on their empathy for the downtrodden.

What’s this? I see comments like this all the time coming out of European newspapers, yet we’ve been told for how long 90% of Europeans want us to elect Obama. All my friends in Germany, Holland, Denmark, Sweden, Russia remind me all the time that no one asked them or anyone they know.

Many of us see a new Tony Blair in Obama, a politician with little experience but a good talker who has terrific spin-script writers: with not a lot of substance. I hope the American voters do not make the same mistake the British electorate made in 1997 and are now living to bitterly regret it.

Is it possible that George W Bush is presented in a bad light by the subjective disgusting American press? The man has kept America free of attacks since September 11th and has make inroads into the African continent. All the info about Bush etc is hearsay, unless we personally know them.

Americans should not delude themselves about the consequences of electing Obama. The rest of the world will see this as evidence that the US has finally become just like them: Run by a caste of corrupt party functionaries who think that people are stupid and want to be lied to.

berlinberlin- i have news for you. not only are not all latinos illegal but, you seem to think that latinos are either illegal or legal. well, let me give you some information you probablly are not aware of. there are also many latinos who have been in this country for at least 3 generations or more. i am a 6th generation texan. so do not lump latinos in your 2 categories. latinos such as myself along with other latino family members and friends are very conservative with the illegal alien issue. we are totally for deporting 38 millions illegals if need be. we do not believe people should break the law and come into this country illegally. and they should be deported. we do not want them here depleting our country’s resources. perhaps not all latinos see this issue my way, but, many of us do. however, think before you start lumping lations in only 2 categories. you are right though, the latinos i know are not voting obama. P.U.M.A.!

  • Diana

I know exactly what you’re talking about. We’ve been in a war, a war within ourselves against many of the things we onced believed. The Democrat party didn’t get like this overnight. I first started catching little things in 2006 then tried to brush them aside with they’re just trying to win. Several things in 2006 really bothered me about different things I was reading. No that was who they were becoming.

  • Typewriterstreaming

Freakin Fox news just said Arizona is in the YELLOW column after Obama advertising there. WTF????

  • McKatmoon

Isn’t it odd too, that some folks consider the downtrodden one and all as having been put in that position, instead of deciding to be in that position. Not everyone who is born poor, or without advantages chooses to live their life that way. I find it a disgusting message to encourage this type of life of perpetual victimness. Being poor doesn’t mean you lose yourself, your center, your moral code, and what this candidate has done has created a pathetic image of those who are “less than”, therefore must be brought up to some imaginary standard. I’ll explain; now I may think I am rich and by my standards, I am, but that is based on my background of having nothing, coming from even less, and working my way to where I am. Not one handout. The one and only time I tried, I was refused for having a watch on that cost more than fifty dollars(it was a gift). THis was back in the 80′s, a single Mom, recovering from an assault, raising a child alone, no child support, no relatives that could help. Fast forward, and again I lose everything materially by means of a spouse dying 3 months into a marriage; no will, and intestate home with joint tenancy with the ex-wife(I didn’t know). You receive nothing, not social security a one time payment of $100-$200, to help with burial(I can laugh now). Again I have to pick myself up and start over. Never once did I believe I was less than, life, simply has it’s way of moving and at times, we mere humans get caught in its machinery. To go back I said I lost everything materially, I gained everything inside, as I learned what a real act of kindness looks like and feels like, I had my mirror of comparison where and how poverty would be, as far as I was concerned I was doing well, I could eat, I had clean clothing and could find more work. Now more than 13 years later, I am back to school in my 50′s, studying and not giving up, and I still feel “rich”, beyond my wildest dreams. That child grew up and is healthy and happy and a father as well, he went to college, then enlisted and serves in Iraq at this moment. I did not want to become anyone’s project, I did look for help at one point and was told there was none for me, I moved on. There isn’t blame to give, it is simply life as it happens. I am glad to have an understanding on what is valuable and what is not. My own freedom, and that freedom I cast with my vote; my individualism to strive and keep going without being boxed in. I lost so little, I gained my own respect, which I consider a miracle to have that in ones lifetime before reaching 90.

You are most welcome. This is central to why I am voting McCain/Palin, I respect them. I will never know what Senator McCain went through as a POW, and I do not know how it feels for Gov Palin to be desecrated on every television station and newspaper, questioning her right to have her family and live her life, but I know grace and dignity when I see it, and I respect those who truly bear the scars and stand to fight another day. I do not see any shred of entitlement with either one of these good people, I see two people, who actually care, and have shown they do. Yes, they are politicians, but they are people first, and they admit to this and don’t mind that you know they put their pants on one leg at a time. O, he pretends he magically flies into them, and expects you to believe it.

Consider what is going to happen when it slowly dawns on people what the hell Obinokinobe is really about. Some of these people seriously think he is going to mail them checks and that life will be trouble free. They think they’re going to have some special power to get into other people’s bank accounts. They are going to want from the day after election and by the time we hit January they are going to be very impatient. There are going to be some very disillusioned people. Watch them get angry at everyone that represents what they don’t have instead of the lying piece of crap Obama.

  • Katherine B.

    Anon,

I have been experiencing the same things you describe. The other morning I work up asking myself: What could possibly be worse than an Obama presidency? The answer: a Pelosi presidency. I haven’t been this upset about the country since Richard Nixon. I worked my heart out for Hillary. I donated far more than I really should have and I stayed for hours at the dreadful caucus in my state. Now I’m volunteering for John McCain and contributing to 527s to get up anti-Obama ads. The only other time I’ve been this involved in a presidential campaign was when I was a student volunteering for RFK. Never, ever voted Republican in my life! Who would have thunk it?

Pretty nervy even for the precious, making sure to lower expectations in advance:

    Friday, 2008-31-305

    55
By Tim Reid, The Times of London

Barack Obama’s senior advisers have drawn up plans to lower expectations for his presidency if he wins next week’s election, amid concerns that many of his euphoric supporters are harboring unrealistic hopes of what he can achieve.

The sudden financial crisis and the prospect of a deep and painful recession have increased the urgency inside the Obama team to bring people down to earth, after a campaign in which his soaring rhetoric and promises of “hope” and “change” are now confronted with the reality of a stricken economy.

One senior adviser told The Times that the first few weeks of the transition, immediately after the election, were critical, “so there’s not a vast mood swing from exhilaration and euphoria to despair.”

The aide said that Obama himself was the first to realize that expectations risked being inflated.

In an interview with a Colorado radio station, Obama appeared to be engaged already in expectation lowering. Asked about his goals for the first hundred days, he said he would need more time to tackle such big and costly issues as health care reform, global warming and Iraq.

“The first hundred days is going to be important, but it’s probably going to be the first thousand days that makes the difference,” he said. He has also been reminding crowds in recent days how “hard” it will be to achieve his goals, and that it will take time.

“I won’t stand here and pretend that any of this will be easy — especially now,” Obama told a rally in Sarasota, Florida, yesterday, citing “the cost of this economic crisis, and the cost of the war in Iraq.” Obama’s transition team is headed by John Podesta, a Washington veteran and a former chief-of-staff to Bill Clinton. He has spent months overseeing a virtual Democratic government-in-exile to plan a smooth transition should Obama emerge victorious next week.

The plans are so far advanced that an Obama Cabinet has been largely decided upon, with the expectation that most of his senior appointments could be announced shortly after election day.

  • John Smith

It is +3.5 for McCain. These polls are becoming more crazy everyday. I just mad 50 calls for McCain and was only able to speak to 6 people. Most of the numbers have been disconnected. These polls are very unreliable. Even the few people I talked to only two would actually have conversation with me.

  • WasLNbutNoBamaBotsKeepStealingMyName

Watching the Palin rally in NC and saw one earlier today with McCain…everytime they even begin to mention Joe the Plumber, the crowd goes completely BONKERS cheering…

Obama reminds me of Miss Cleo and her fortune telling. It was a fad for a while. But for this poor man and his family.

Since this is an open thread, I want to go back to the story of Obama’s auntie in Boston. I made these points on another thread, but I think these are important points.

    1. How does Obama’s auntie live in Boston Public Housing? This is housing supported by federal tax dollars. Residents must be US citizens or legal residents. Their eligibility is redetermined every year. Ask anyone who lives in public housing. Residents MUST prove their eligibility each year.

    2. How does Obama’s auntie work for the Boston Public Housing Authority? Every time I apply for employment I MUST present proof that I am a citizen. Isn’t that the case for everyone reading this comment? My understanding is people can be employed in the United States only if they are citizens or legal residents who have received government approval to work here.

They said it was on Drudge too and that McCain campaign will be crushed by the audio. I can’t bring myself to listen to it. Why do other countries have to interfere with our elections? And I know that if they did that to Obama, they would have called the group racist.

  • oowawa

Thank you texaslatina for this concise statement about the complexity of the Hispanic vote. There is an ugly stereotype that paints Latino citizens as being in favor of an unrestricted flow of illegal aliens from Latin America. It is apparent that the people who suffer the most from such an influx of illegal aliens are the Hispanic citizens of this country, who must compete directly with the influx of illegal labor that depresses wages. Moreover, illegal aliens often send their dollars home where the money buys more, whereas US Latino citizens must spend their money here where it buys less. The issues of US Latinos are very complex and must not be oversimplified.

  • Geo

    Dear PUMAS,

GLAD YOU HAVE SEEN THE LIGHT!

You have more courage than those elite turncoats in my own party who are backing the Obamunist. They don’t agree with his polices, they are trolling for favors and job security. To hell with them.

I am with you PUMAS. Lets work together to overcome this sick Media-Game-Show and get McCain/Palin elected.

I can’t believe that Pelosi/Dean/Reed stole the primary from Hillary and then did not have her as the VP pick. No wonder you are mad.

This opened the door for Sarah (a real person with accomplishments) and exposed Obama as an empty-suited fraud.

the illegals maybe, but are they allowed to vote? *joke*

In California, it would seem so. I lived in California for seven years. The first time I voted there (in an off-year election), I whipped out my ID to prove that I was who I said I was (even though proof of citizenship was not required when registering), and the poll worker said she didn’t need to see my ID and that it was actually illegal to ask for ID. This is the status quo the far-left libs in California want to maintain. They just don’t give a hoot about citizenship, legal voting, etc.

Vice presidential Candidate Wiley S. Drake Sr. to file in court asking to
de-certify Barack Obama because he has refused to release proof of being a Natural Born Citizen, thereby disqualifying Obama in his bid for the Office of President.

The recent Lawsuit in Washington State demanding their Secretary of State to vet the citizenship credentials of Barack Obama has spawned a slew of similar suits with new lawsuits filed and/or prepared in WA, FL, NC, CO, CA, OH, FL, CT, GA, TX, MI. Related lawsuits HI, US District.

As part of this effort, this group of citizens from states across the union made an outreach to the whole presidential slate asking each candidate for president and vice president to offer up a certified copy of their birth certificates and any related candidate declarations to be placed in a library made available to the public via a non-partisan web site.

At least one VP candidate Wiley S. Drake Sr. went the next step and agreed to file a lawsuit of his own to demand the disqualification of Barack Obama unless he can prove status as a ”Natural Born Citizen” as the constitution and federal statues demand and define.

In another unrelated action, though also aimed at forcing Obama to release proof or step down, 24 potential Electoral College electors are filing action Monday morning in court also demanding proof. A call is herein being issued to any elector in any state, especially democrat electors who would like to join that effort. Electors interested in adding their name to this lawsuit can contact Mr. Marquis who will put you in contact with the attorney handling that case.

In my life time, i hope i have the chance again to vote for a candidate that i respect as an American and a Patriot as much as i respect Senator McCain.

I am moved by and forever indebted to his heroic service and sacrifice to our Country in wartime.

I am reassured by his true “post-partisan” record in his decades long political career. He is not only unafraid to oppose his own party, but to even step on his own pride, putting country & principle before political gain. When McCain says he would rather lose an election than lose his integrity, i have no reason to doubt his truthfulness. How many men can you say that about?

I am inspired by how he has dealt with trouble in his own life. For example, the Keating Five. Though he was cleared of wrongdoing, even the proximity of this taint on his character drove him to try harder, to do better, & be stronger in fighting corruption within Washington politics. How many men can you say that about?

This man has the scars to prove his honesty, integrity, and patriotism. In reflecting on how McCain’s age has often been thrown against him, consider this. Let them make fun of his age; Senator McCain’s experience & long, proven record is one detail of this great Statesman that drives Obama NUTS! Why? Obama can’t buy it! He can not receive it as a gift from his party, the media, or Affirmative Action! He can not steal it from him like he routinely steals opponents campaign issue policies. No, he has to EARN it, but try as he might, he knows he hasn’t & what’s more, he knows he CAN’T!

Friends, my heart swells with American pride to be able to vote for a citizen of McCain’s caliber for President! He is a rare public figure that parents can point out as a role model to their children. Every young person can learn important lessons about how he confronted and owned up to his own actions & courageously carried on to serve his People with honor. He is the real deal, a great man, a great American, & a great Patriot!

    Country first!

    McCain/Palin 2008!

I too voted in Tennessee. No problem but the turnout was really, really big. My first attempt, I could not get parking. Went back 2+ hours later and was able to vote without a hitch. Straight republican, a first for this Dem.

    And frankly? I didn’t have a moment’s hesitation.

Obama-Farrakhan Ties Are Close, Ex-Farrakhan Aide Says

    Saturday, November 1, 2008 2:59 PM

    By: Kenneth R. Timmerman

A former top deputy to Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan tells Newsmax that Barack Obama’s ties to the black nationalist movement in Chicago run deep, and that for many years the two men have had “an open line between them” to discuss policy and strategy, either directly or through intermediaries.

“Remember that for years, if you were a politician in Chicago, you had to have some type of relationship with Louis Farrakhan. You had to. If you didn’t, you would be ostracized out of black Chicago,” said Dr. Vibert White Jr., who spent most of his adult life as a member and ultimately top officer of the Nation of Islam.

White broke with the group in 1995 and is now a professor of African-American history at the University of Central Florida in Orlando.

White said Obama was “part of the Chicago scene” where Farrakhan, Jesse Jackson, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr. and radicals would go to each other’s events and support each other’s causes.

I heard so many of the pundits say what a stupid ad this was. It was confusing, left the viewer almost liking Obama, this is off message (Joe the Plumber, taxes and the economy) and its a bad idea. Wish they’d pull it.

You could be right. But I did not take the add as supporting Der Precious at all. I took it as he was endorsing McCain.

You are right; it’s very uplifting. I watched Arnold’s intro. of McCain yesterday and he “brought down the house”; spectacular.

  • TeakWoodKite

PO’ed Vet, what is telling about BO is “dear Auntie” was one of the first people to be “under the bus”. Who knew?!

Long before Obama became a household game, his Auntie was living in the armpit of Boston in section 8 housing.
We know this because BO wrote about her.
What was BO up to in ’96? Palling around with thugs of every stripe, that’s what he was doing.

Listening to “God Damn AmerkiKKK” seems to make one indifferent to the suffering of one’s own relitives.

    BO is one twisted sister.

  • Josephine the Plumber

Having lived in CA and TX (12+ years), I can most definitely conclude that there is a difference between citizens of Hispanic origin/legal resident Hispanics and illegal alien Hispanics. The citizen/resident Hispanics are usually quite conservative and upset in regard to these matters. They do not like the dilution their rights because of those who shouldn’t be here (affecting elections, policies, etc.).

  • Peggy Sue

Look, remember when the polls told us Obama would take Pa in the primaries? Chris Matthews was having a freaking orgasm–OMG there so-o-o many supporters whating for the “One” at the Media line platform. And there were “thousands”, at least 35,000 people cheering for Obama at Independence Hall. It was a blowout, Matthews predicted. It was a landslide.

Remember the results? Hillary Clinton wiped the floor with “The Blessed.” The MSM is an echo chamber for Axelrod’s campaign strategy. The polls have been unreliable in the past but this season they’ve been off the rails.

The important thing is to vote, period. Disregard the stupid pundits, who love the sound of their own voice more than serving the public.

Vote as if your life depended on it. Because it does.

Well said Goblin! I concur. Already voted last Monday, complete Republican ticket, (as promised by this PUMA) and it felt wonderful. What I love about Senator MCCain and Gov Palin is they are willing to workfor their candidacy, unlike the opposition only willing to stand on our already breaking backs.

Galt… As I said before, I was a Democrat/Independent for about 25 years. I started moving to the right some years ago (Gore 2000 > Bush 2004). I don’t like the Republican Party either. Both parties need sweeping changes!

  • Andy

Did you guys read that BO’s plane smells terrible? (LOL)

The McCain campaign plane is better than Obama’s, which is cramped, uncomfortable and smells terrible most of the time. Somehow the McCain folks manage to keep their charter clean, even where the press is seated.

    Thank you PUMAS, you rock.

Thank You Geo–let’s hope that this nascent PUMA-Republican coalition persists after the election and that we can all work together for the common good of our country. This new spirit of bipartisan mutual respect is something I’m not used to–but I like it!

Fox News Poll has been pretty freaky in general. FNC has decent reporting, but i don’t bank on their polls. Ignore them, get out & vote, get your friends, neighbors, family, cats , dogs, & canaries to come with you! :-)

  • jbjd

I really liked this ad. By showing (a more honest) BO praising John McCain for his efforts to protect the environment, it evidenced the difference between President Bush and him on that subject; and pointed to BO’s disingenuousness in linking JMc to GB. I also thought this could dispel the common misconception that, Republicans are universally ‘bad on the environment.’

I was too young to vote for Reagan, didn’t care for either of the Bushes, & McCain didn’t make it to the GE in 2000. Win or lose, I’m just darn glad to finally get to vote for this candidate! :-)

I have been to a ‘Cuda rally. I have really NEVER seen anything like her. She’s like a rockstar and people faint over her. I am not gay, but boy is she just the hottest most perfect woman I have ever seen. I am going to be SO pissed if this woman doesn’t get what she deserves – a place in history and her spot in the White House for years to come. No offense to the Hillary people…sorry to say it…Palin is 10,000 times better. She is.

  • http://www.johnmccain.com Michele (not the nasty one)

The last neighborhood I lived in had a high percentage of hispanics. One thing I learned about them is that they are all about family! I think that they would find this situation with Obama’s aunt kind of dispicable. My hispanic neighbors were all about helping their family members out.

Another thing I learned was that the hispanic families that I knew were all about the American dream. In one family, when I first met them, the mother and father (late 30′s or early 40′s) did not speak English very well. Oftentimes, their daughter translated for them. Their little boy was able to be enrolled in our Head Start program and learned English very quickly. The parents were so proud. Both parents worked and dreamed of their own business. They went in together with another hispanic family and opened a mexican restaurant nearby. They later rented the storefront next door when it became available to open a Mexican grocery store. Lots of long hours but they are realizing their American dream.

In another family, two brothers wanted to start their own business. Laying tile or installing drywall. Anything. They were willing to work hard for their American dream. Because my husband and I were involved in the community and we have our own business, they came to us to ask a lot of questions about how to go about starting their own business, legally. We gave them information about being licensed and insured, how to get incorporated etc. They eventually started a corporate cleaning business, cleaning offices and other business facilities after they were closed, working long hours into the night.

This neighborhood was a low income neighborhood and while I love my new home on 2 1/2 acres in the country, I miss my old neighborhood and wonderful neighbors who really kept reminding me so very often that this is truly a great country. One of the most exciting neighborhood news was when someone became a United States citizen. So much pride.

I find it hard to believe that these families would be drawn to Obama.

I finally got around to watching Senator Obama’s half hour infomercial. It’s the corniest piece of propaganda I’ve ever seen. And I’ve read Mao and Marx.

The stories of the people portrayed aren’t corny. But we’re all either living the same uphill battle they are or know someone who is. There was absolutely no new discovery in those stories. Maybe it was new for Senator Obama, but not for the rest of us.

Among the corniness is Senator Obama telling us how he’s going to create all these programs to change the world, make life wonderful for the middle class and take away all the wrongs that are heaped on them. Uh huh. He doesn’t tell us what the programs are. I guess a couple extra thousand dollars per year through tax cuts is supposed to make a gallon of milk, arthritis drugs and the electric bill affordable. Senator Obama fails to mention that once we have our tax credits so we can afford food again, just how the Federal government is going to continue to fund our schools, highways, bridges, dams, national parks, military, ports – all those wonderful things our taxes do for us.

I noticed out of all the Democratic governors he put in the ad to say wonderful things about him, not one was a woman. Not one. No women are seen praising him and urging America to see him as the leader that will save us.

Instead, the women we see are all victims of some kind of oppression or another. The housewife that has to ration food and her husband can’t have surgery because they can’t afford for him to be on disability. The woman with arthritis who’s 72 year old husband has to work at Wal-mart to pay for her prescriptions. The single mother with two kids who is a teacher and works a second job. It’s never stated what has oppressed the lives of the women other than some unnamed giant that Senator Obama is going to slay by changing how we’ve been doing things for the past century or so.

Senator Obama ends the taped part by saying he’s going to ask us to be involved in our democracy again.

I don’t want to be involved by paying higher taxes. I’ll take the tax credit checks, but I’m not joining any community volunteer force. Nope. My free time is mine. If I wanted to work for our government, I’d run for the Senate.

What I want is an administration that gets busy fixing the mess that has been made in the economy and foreign relations over the past eight years, starts paving the way for universal health care and doesn’t think it’s going to do any of it by taxing me or insisting I spend my Sunday afternoons in service of the country. That’s what I want. Not the corniness I saw in Senator Obama’s thirty minute ad.

Anyway, Senator Obama – I’m not knocking on doors for you. You’re on your own if you’re elected. Those of us out here in middle America don’t get enough sleep as it is and what little time and money we have left over after we meet our responsibilities is for us – we’re not giving it to you. Change the world with your own money and time, don’t call us.

I think I’ll knock on my DNC’s door tomorrow and give them some ears of corn.
