Zogby: “McCain Outpolled Obama Today” (and an open thread)

How sweet is this? Zogby Daily Tracking, November 1 report:

Pollster John Zogby: “Is McCain making a move? The three-day average holds steady, but McCain outpolled Obama today, 48% to 47%. He is beginning to cut into Obama’s lead among independents, is now leading among blue collar voters, has strengthened his lead among investors and among men, and is walloping Obama among NASCAR voters. Joe the Plumber may get his license after all. “Obama’s lead among women declined, and it looks like it is occurring because McCain is solidifying the support of conservative women, which is something we saw last time McCain picked up in the polls. If McCain has a good day tomorrow, we will eliminate Obama’s good day three days ago, and we could really see some tightening in this rolling average. But for now, hold on.”

From my blog, Uppity Woman.

And now: OPEN THREAD!

    I love the little guy… ;)

I know this is a Zogby poll but if they are polling the same as they have been all along….maybe…Here is a good video to watch…good music.

OBAMA “Share the Wealth” VIDEO: Obama calls $1 Trillion tax hike a “small adjustment” by re-defining $97K family income as “upper class”

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-SavgJlBLA

The key minute: Watch from 1:15 to 2:15 for Obama’s remarkable claim that $97K family income is “upper class”

I found a video clip in which Obama totally redefines what middle/upper class income is and who should pay more taxes. He is quoted on video. I think this is newsworthy, given the current focus on Obama’s plan to tax a larger number of families. The video shows Obama directly stating this. It is far less difficult to interpret than, say, the Chicago NPR audio-only about redistributive change. This is a video that’s ready-made for a campaign spot and for video news releases. All people will understand it.

In this video, Obama defined $97,000 family income as “upper class” and subject to $1 Trillion in tax increases in debate within the last year and in policy proposals. He also makes a similar claim in writing in an Op-Ed (see below).

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-SavgJlBLA

Of course there are other videos of this same debate, Nov 2007, Las Vegas from which you can clip these quotes, but this one just puts in the context of Obama/Biden redefining Middle Class income from $250K to $200K to $150K to $97K is “upper class.” and the top group—and subject to big tax hikes.

      http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/story?id=3638710&page=1

I wonder how many families with 2 or 3 kids in middle class suburbs of our major cities would consider their $97 K income to be “upper class.” If any of those kids plan to go to college, the families will hardly be living like the upper class on $97K.

      Obama’s Op-Ed

      http://www.qctimes.com/articles/2007/09/21/opinion/opinion/doc46f35dac127eb409456532.txt

“… raise the cap on the amount of income subject to the Social Security tax. If we kept the payroll tax rate exactly the same but applied it to all earnings and not just the first $97,500, we could virtually eliminate the entire Social Security shortfall.” – Op-Ed by Barack Obama, Quad City Times, Sep., 2007

  • Patrick

Rass had Obama ONLY up by 4 in Pa.

I feel this shift, and even though the state polls will continue to show McCain in the lead, there are – to me – some givens:

McCain takes Fla. and NC with ease (+3-5 in Fla.; +6-8 in NC).

Then, watch Tuesday night as Va. has the earliest Poll closings…The Mac attack will take VA, PA and Ohio and it is OVER.

John McCain will win this with 286 electoral votes, 274 at the worst.

I am confident, I see people’s reactions and this FEELS like it has tipped solidly in McCain’s direction. Remember, polsters like to drive the narative with weighted polling…

    FIGHT, BE BRAVE, VOTE!!!

    Take care,
    Patrick

    • Patrick

correction, polls will continue to show Obama in the lead, sorry :)

      • Shiloh

Right, the polls will continue to show Obama in the lead unless you make the necessary correction and add 5 points for McCain. McCain will win with well over 300.

        • tek

Just like Yahoo! News has headlines everyday that proclaim Obama the inevitable winner. It’s brainwashing, tell people he’s already won and maybe they won’t even vote.

Yahoo! has a running poll on the home page that shows Obama ahead and gaining, it’s been up for several days. Same objective. I don’t remember them ever running a poll like that in the last two elections. It’s sick.

We watched Bill Moyers last night and even the black analyst he had on wouldn’t say that Obama would to be a good president. He actually said a lot people would be surprised and disappointed. Bill Moyer is, of course, almost as giddy as Chris Matthews about Obama. It was sort of funny.

          • Dawnelle Leona del Puma

and FOX just NOW interviewed a DEM pollster who said that is only ONE in 7 polls that has Mac ahead and to not believe it.

WTF?? why would FOX have that fool on???

            • http://ForalltheWomen McCain / Palin Supporter

Don’t worry about that. The Dem’s can think they got this campaign already won and then the rest of the Dem suporters don’t feel they need to get out there and vote because they think that Obama has this campaign all wrapped up. That gives McCain an edge to lead the campaign. I know Zogby’s is the best in tracking the votes.
Hang in there! The good will prevail over evil!
              Go McCain / Palin!!!!!

          • workingclass artist

LOL…I saw that too…What can ya say about Moyers…chuckle..He wears his Cracker Guilt on his sleeve…The Workingclass in this country will vote for McCain…and they are a voting block that is unified based on principle not race or gender…Joe the Plumber just said out loud what folks on the construction sites or the small stores or the factories…or the employee lunchrooms or the PTA’s have been sayin…imho..

          • Tom K.

I think SusanUnPC or Larry should bump that entry about the Obama campaign worker supposedly giving away an insider account of their campaign. True or not, I found it compelling and a bit of a boost at this late state in the game. I already voted by absentee ballot, but it’s helping to keep me positive.

Also, something funny: I got a letter in the mail the other day telling me that I’m now a member of the Republican National Committee. I guess it’s because I sent the McCain campaign some money. I’m also a member of the DNC–talk about divided loyalties. My boyfriend laughed and asked me, “A year ago could you have ever imagined you’d vote for a Republican and be a member of the RNC?”

For all Californians: Vote No on 8!

          • Midlife Mama

That’s why I removed Yahoo as my homepage — after having used it for 10 years. Anyone who is blatantly biased for Obama at this point is dead to me.

          • cpabooks

tek, I noticed the same thing as Moyers discussion was in direct contrast to the Glenn Peterson foursome. That foursome depressed me with their self-absorbed conceit and fortune telling. They referred to BHO as the next president. Even Krauthammer has wimped out because of a couple of GOP elitists comments. (They have been quite lately; hummmm)
Then on to the Moyers show, I knew we were in friendly territory because my liberal elitist husband turned the channel.

Patrick — I agree with you. The Democratic Party & the media have sold their souls for this thug. They have lied and cheated and hidden Obama’s past but like all lies the truth catches up. What started out to be a new and bright candidacy has turned into Left Wing Marxist Thuggery. He threatens us with riots if he doesn’t get in. He has a man investigated just for asking a question he doesn’t like. We are all feeling the sticky slime of seeing too closely what lies ahead of us if Obama becomes President. When we look past him we see a man we know who will leave this country a Democracy and the American people whole. There is no contest. McCain/Palin 08

Yes, I’ve heard it. If this is for real, then it is HUGE. America will be in for a big surprise on Tuesday night.

      • Chicago

That’s the Pittsburgh radio station audio that I’ve been trying to post for the past two days but for some reason this site wouldn’t let me post it.

That’s the GOP internal polls that is showing a possible landslide for McCain!

        McCain can do this!

    • Chicago

McCain has taken a 3 point lead in MO as well.

GOP internal polls also reported a McCain lead in New Jersey (of all places) and 55% in PA. that same internal GOP poll (as reported on a Pitssburgh Radio Station, that for some reason I can’t post a link) is reporting that McCain is only a couple of points behind in CA.

I believe that McCain has a chance to win with 300 electoral votes if the surge continues. momentum-wise McCain is showing a win right now and I strongly believe that!

as the polls shift, the polls’ averages will stil show a lead for Obama but the poll that counts is on Tuesday and McCain’s surge had just begun. McCain will have a lead on Tuesday and it will be game over for Obambi!

Go McCain/Palin! GET OUT THE VOTE ON NOV 4TH!!!!

  • AMERICAN SAWBUCK

Do we dare hope this is a trend???/ I hear nothing on the radio good about barry at this point.I am in Boston area and aunt zatooney is not well liked here as is not her nephew…(except in the peoples Republic of Cambrideg)/////
She is illegal and most Bostonians do not wish to spread their wealth around to her or barry. We wish they would both go home to Nigeria

    • KarenAnn

Sawbuck, I live in the Western Mass., Republic of Amherst Obamaland. Amherst is like Cambridge but the surrounding towns show many more McCain signs. I was hoping that since MA gave Hillary 65% of the primary vote that many of her supporters would give an upset in the election and go for McCain. Do you know where greater Boston in this mix?

      • AMERICAN SAWBUCK

        KarenAnn
My sisters went to U of MA Amherst I know what you are saying..I am actually north of Boston along the shore…The McCain/ Palin signs outnumber the obambi ones except in a few very yuppie areas..I also observed the McCain signs seemed to out number the obambi signs in southern New Hamshire too….I took several trips up that way to check out the foliage and the signs…I cannot imagine bambi winning the Live Free or Die people Kerry only won because he was a neighbor (and not a very good one at that)..They seem to like McCain a lot up north…In my area many of us have discussed putting up signs for McCain but they are usually torn down. Today there are only 3 signs up and they are all McCain and oh one Democrat for McCain and this is a nice upscale neighborhood but middle class definetly..Here’s hoping we win it..
        Country First!

        • Tuppence411

Karen Ann me too! Knew you were a local when you called it the “Republic of Amherst”. Not so many McCain signs in my community, too many Republic transplants. But the suburbs of Springfield? McCain/Palin signs everywhere! It looks more like a red state than MA.

      • tek

We are in Athens, GA, UGA hometown. Most of GA, even this blue place, is full of McCain signs. Only AA neighborhoods and around the university have Obama.

        • jbjd

tek, did you know that, under GA law, the S of S can challenge the candidate’s eligibility to be on the general election ballot until the day of the election? (Note, this challenge right does not apply to voters; their challenge deadline has passed.)

          • tek

Haven’t heard anything like that going on. Unfortunately.

      • McPalin

My dad in MA. says tons of Dems are for McCain.
        Mass goes red.

    • Clara Barton

Hey, American Sawbuck, I wondered how much play and reaction this story is getting in MA and what it might mean. I’m sorry for the aunt that her life if about to be turned upside down, but she’s been here 4 years after being denied asylum and is living off the public housing system. How does Blue Massachusetts react to this?

      • AMERICAN SAWBUCK

        Dear Clara
Aunt zahooney is all over Boston talk radio as topic A Lets just say she is not on anyones Christmas List for this year. I think she is just another example if what a phoney bambi is…I doubt she will get to stay here as she was asked to leave 4/6 years ago by immigration and remained as an illegal. It seems the people of MA do not wish to support her any longer..we have our own problems up here…She is front page in the newspapers also….one scary looking old woman…..there is nothing positive in this for barry not at all.I think the story changed a few minds (just not in Cambridge or Amherst)..Blue Ma doesn’t sound so blue anymore..add this to Barney frank and maybe we will become a nice shade if purple. However he will still win here in 2008

I’ll say a prayer for my candidate John McCain during Sunday Mass. Yes, I cling to religion and I was never a Kool-Aid drinker so call me RACIST! I love God and this country He created.

amen to that, I have been praying for John McCain, Sarah Palin and our country every single day.

these poll numbers are just the beginning of McCain’s lead.

    • workingclass artist

DORA…Just keep lightin the candles in the chapel…

    • JozefAL

Dora, quit with the Christian right-wing bullshit about “the country God created”. God had NOTHING to do with it.
Plymouth (the source of our misguided religious nuts’ fervor)was founded more than a DECADE after Jamestown, and Jamestown was a COMMERCIAL venture*. As for those Christians in Plymouth, they were among the most INtolerant people to ever walk the face of the earth. They’d feel very comfortable with today’s right-wing religious extremists–of ALL denominations, whether Muslim, Christian or Jew–in their message of their being the only ones following “God’s will”. Read up on how people were arrested for crimes like daring to actually cook on the Sabbath–even the performance of standard farm chores was strictly regulated on the Sabbath. People who dissented from the strict Puritan system were offered a choice of death or exile. While you might think exile would be the preferred choice, don’t forget that being exiled “to the Wilderness” in 17th Century New England was largely a death sentence: hostile native people, who had largely been victims of Christian aggression; hostile nature, through animals like bears and wolves, or inclement weather–being exiled in the late fall was tantamount to death since you didn’t have much time before Winter’s onset; hostile colonists, who might not be any more accepting of your beliefs than your previous community.
And the Founding Fathers who brought forth the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were Deists, not “proper” Christians. They largely viewed the God of Christianity as being a “false version” of their “one true God”. They perceived God as a sculptor or an architect who, once finished with his product/project, stepped away and left it alone, having little concern for what happened to it afterwards. (Thomas Jefferson even created his own version of the New Testament, removing any “supernatural” moments from the story of Jesus–no “Virgin birth”, no miracles, no Resurrection. Jefferson was a deeply spiritual person who just happened to be a confirmed rationalist–if it couldn’t be explained in purely logical terms, it didn’t happen. He was also willing to allow that as mankind was always learning more and more about their world, that just because he might not be able to explain a “miracle” through science and reason did not mean that there wasn’t a perfectly rational explanation.)
I’d also be happy to note that both sides in the Civil War were positive that THEIR SIDE ALONE had “the blessings of God”. (Interesting to note that, on the whole, Southerners remained far more devout than Northerners. After all,”the Bible Belt” generally refers to that stretch of land from Texas to Virginia–taking in the Old Confederacy. Yet, since God “abandoned” them, you’d almost think that they would’ve been the ones to be most adamant in wiping out religious fervor, yet an overwhelming number of church-state challenges take place in the South, not the North.)

*Incidentally, why do we celebrate Thanksgiving anyway? The Jamestown colonists suffered far more during their first early years than the Pymouth colonists but Jamestown is treated as a minor footnote in this country’s founding compared to Plymouth.

      • torland077

        Jozefal
it’s so easy to reflect your view on historical events. Serious study shows most of what you say is revisionist drivel. So why don’t you cut the atheist, left wing bullshit.

      • tek

Jamestown still claims to have had the first Thanksgiving, it’s a tourist attraction for them. No hard feelings down there.

Obama says he didn’t know aunt’s illegal status

CHICAGO – Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama said Saturday he didn’t know his aunt was living in the United States illegally and believes that laws covering the situation should be followed.

The Associated Press found that Obama’s aunt had been instructed to leave the country four years ago by an immigration judge who rejected her request for asylum from her native Kenya. The woman, Zeituni Onyango (zay-TUHN on-YANG-oh), is living in public housing in Boston and is the half-sister of Obama’s late father.

A statement given to the AP by Obama’s campaign said, “Senator Obama has no knowledge of her status but obviously believes that any and all appropriate laws be followed.”

The campaign said it was returning $260 that Onyango had contributed in small increments to Obama’s presidential bid over several months. Federal election law prohibits foreigners from making political donations. Onyango listed her employer as the Boston Housing Authority and last gave $5 on Sept. 19.

Onyango, 56, is part of Obama’s large paternal family, with many related to him by blood whom he never knew growing up.

Obama’s father, Barack Obama Sr., left the future presidential nominee when the boy was 2, and they reunited only once — for a monthlong visit when Obama was 10. The elder Obama lived most of his life in Kenya, where he fathered seven other children with three other wives. He died in a car crash in 1982.

Obama was raised for the most part by his mother and her parents in Hawaii. He first met his father’s side of the family when he traveled to Africa 20 years ago. He referred to Onyango as “Auntie Zeituni” when describing the trip in his memoir, saying she was “a proud woman.”

Obama’s campaign said he had seen her a few times since that meeting, beginning with a return trip to Kenya with his future wife, Michelle, in 1992. Onyango visited the family in Chicago on a tourist visa at Obama’s invitation about nine years ago, the campaign said, stopping to visit friends on the East Coast before returning to Kenya.

She attended Obama’s swearing-in to the U.S. Senate in 2004, but campaign officials said Obama provided no assistance in getting her a tourist visa and doesn’t know the details of her stay. The campaign said he last heard from her about two years ago when she called saying she was in Boston, but he did not see her there.

Onyango’s refusal to leave the country would represent an administrative, noncriminal violation of immigration law, meaning such cases are handled outside the criminal court system. Estimates vary, but many experts believe there are more than 10 million such immigrants in the U.S.

The AP could not immediately reach Onyango for comment. When a reporter went to her home Friday night, no one answered the door. A neighbor said she was often not home on weekends. Onyango did not immediately return telephone and written messages left at her home.

Onyango was instructed to leave the country by a U.S. immigration judge who denied her asylum request, a person familiar with the matter told the AP. This person spoke on condition of anonymity because no one was authorized to discuss Onyango’s case.

It was unclear why her request was rejected in 2004. A spokeswoman for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Kelly Nantel, said the government does not comment on an individual’s citizenship status or immigration case.

Information about the deportation case was disclosed and confirmed by two separate sources, one a federal law enforcement official. The information they made available is known to officials in the federal government, but the AP could not establish whether anyone at a political level in the Bush administration or in the McCain campaign had been involved in its release.

Onyango’s case — coming to light just days before the presidential election — led to an unusual nationwide directive within Immigrations and Customs Enforcement requiring that any deportations before Tuesday’s election be approved at least at the level of the agency’s regional directors, the U.S. law enforcement official told the AP.

The directive suggests that the administration is sensitive to the political implications of Onyango’s case coming to light so close to the election.

The East African nation has been fractured by violence in recent years, including a period of two months of bloodshed after December 2007 that killed 1,500 people.

In Boston, Lydia Agro, communications director for the Housing Authority, said Onyango had been screened and approved for public housing as an “eligible non-citizen” when she moved in in 2003. She said the authority is not notified of deportation orders and did not know Onyango was related to Obama until two days ago.

Here in Florida, I just saw the following RNC ad… to paraphrase it… would you fly on a plane with a pilot who has never flown before? Would you leave your kids with a sitter who has never watched kids? Would you trust the country to a man who has never been in charge of anything? Dogpile! ;)

    • tek

Obama is the least qualified person to ever run for President. If he gets in the WH, it will be unprecedented in that way. Forever after, historians will remember him as the Affirmative Action candidate who got in because he was black.

  • Tuppence411

I have a relative schedule to take a business trip to Chicago on Thursday. I keep pleading with her to cancel. McCain will win and it won’t be pretty in our major cities.

    • Docelder

I think we will learn a lot about Obama Tuesday night and in the days immediately following his loss. A true test of a man is not to watch him as everything goes his way… a true test of a man is what he does when everything goes wrong. Unfortunately, we may learn a lot of this man in the coming weeks that we would rather not have to know.

      • Tuppence411

Sadly- I fear you are right.

      • Lucinda

He’ll probably refuse to give a concession speech until every state has certified their results.

        • imustprotest

I don’t think he’ll ever give a concession speech. I remember when Hillary won Nevada. He got on a plane and went on to the next state w/o a word. He’s an arrogant little _______________. (fill in the blank)

          • FromPoisonAcornsPoisonOakTreesGrow

He will text his concession speech at 3 am.

Obama will most assuredly be a sore loser. His surrogates will rail on for weeks about how racist America is, blah blah blah, and so and so on.

        • Benjamin

If Obama doesn’t lose with grace, his loss could rip this country apart in a very nasty way. He should be “big” enough to tamp down false cries of racism. However, he’s never done anything like that in the past so I’m not gonna hold my breath.

    This is a good one:

Obama did not know that Wright preached hate for 20 yrs.

Obama did not know that Ayers was a domestic terrorist.

Khalidi was just another fellow in the neighborhood.

His numerous dealings with Rezko was just boneheaded.

Obama lied to the people 3 times in the primary when he promised to take fed funding for his election, until he decided he would rather try to buy the election by collecting a half a billion dollars in which 200 million or more of it he refuses to disclose how he got.

Now Obama has thrown his Aunt under the bus and lied again to the American people with his continued pattern of “I have no knowledge.”

Obama’s chickens are coming home to roost!

    Surpise, surprise! ;)

    VOTE! VOTE! VOTE!

And take a voter with you to the polls!

    Country First!!

    No Retreat!!

    NOBAMA!!

    • http://Godhelpusall lee M

Obama’s “I have no knowledge” is the first truth he has told so far. He truly HAS no knowledge. His head is a vacuum between two very large ears. No knowledge, no scruples, no decency and NO BIRTH CERTIFICATE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I Am Puma

    I am Puma,
I stand beside you in the grocery store
I am the one with no campaign button on my shirt
    I am waiting

    I am Puma,
I am the one beside you at the traffic light
I am in the car with no bumper sticker
    I am waiting

    I am Puma,
When you call me at my home
I say to you of course I will vote for The One
and I smile as I hang up the phone
    I am waiting

    I am Puma
    On November 4th
    I will wait no more
I will go to the polls with millions and millions
of other Pumas and put my Country First

    Then you will know me

Obama is all for spreading the wealth, as long as its not HIS wealth. Obama basically said today that they can do whatever they want with his aunt, damn, no compassion or nothing, what a scumbag

    • imustprotest

What?! He actually said that!? UNbelievable, really, this guy is a sicko.

      • Tuppence411

Considering what is happening in Kenya, I am sure he could help his aunt with a political asylum appeal. D’OH! Wait a minute, that would require Barky to acknowledge that Odinga is a merciless, murdering political thug! Not likely since he campaigned for him and gave him political financial aid. See if I understand the Obama charitiable priorities correctly:
        Odinga- merciless dictator wanna-be $950,000
        Reverend Wright- $27,000
Half Brother living in a shack- $Zero
Disabled aunt in a violent slum- $Zero

      • Zee

He didn’t say anything. His campaign released a lame statement saying he didn’t know anything about his aunt’s status but believes the law is the law.

Remember when Mike Dukakis gave a cold answer regarding how he would react if his wife were raped?

This is similar. Obama is not making a personal statement about his aunt, no expressions of concern. He’s essentially throwing her to the wolves, indicating he doesn’t want to deal with her problems and they can deport her for all he cares. And he’s ignored her for two years, except to tell her to keep her trap shut till after the election.

  • Sarracuda

It’s not that I am really surprised by all this, the guy is a control freak, I hope the media, ya know, the bastards at CNN and MSNBC are reporting on this, I am shocked that the AP told the story, perhaps even the media is getting sick and tired of Barack the Liar OBama

shiloh — the media loves to be wrong. Think of the story after Obama loses. This country was not ready for an AA. The people defied the polls. They lied to the pollsters and voted against their own interests. We were all fooled. They will leave out the part about how they forced Obama down the throats of Americans while they destroyed Hillary and Sarah Palin.

The media will be shocked and saddened by this turn of events — however, their pundits who will all have been totally wrong will be back to claim inside knowledge of the McCain Presidency. And the beat goes on…………..

        • drkate

Not his time if I can help it. Credibility is on the line and it is easy to point out. I say we keep going on the net, blog talk radio, and any other means to point out the hipocrisy of the press. They literally tried to sell us this guy, and we figured it out.

  • Shiloh

When the political historians look back and write about this election, the storyline will be that the Reagan Democrats went en masse to McCain. The carefully crafted illusion of Obama and his certain win is lying shattered at his feet. The polls still try to pretend otherwise even though almost everyone has recognized them as being phony as the candidate they prop up.

This election was destined to be a referendum on Obama, and in the end so it shall be. The fat lady has entered the building and is clearing her throat.

Fellow NQ bloggers-This is OT BUT IMPORTANT.

    PLEASE GET OUT THE VOTE:

1-call family, friends this weekend and -make sure they know where they have to go to vote & ask if they need a ride.If they do, arrange for one.

2- Call your local Republican office and volunteer to work as OBSERVER at your local poll.

BY LAW, polling clerks MUST provide duplicate list of local registered voters at each polling location.
Polling clerks are supposed to update this list EVERY HOUR and keep it available for public review.

Check with your local Republican headquarters if anyone has been assigned to particular polling locations in your neighborhood to review this list.

If no one has been assigned, offer to go look through the book at around 5 or 6pm and see which registered voters names HAVE NOT BEEN CROSSED OFF YET.

IF their names have not been crossed off, it means they have not voted yet. If they have not voted yet, copy their phone numbers & CALL THEM IMMEDIATELY.

The book contains names, phone numbers, and addresses of the registered voters.

Call these registered voters who have not voted yet and remind them what time polls close, ask if they know which poll site they have to go to vote, ask t hem if they need help getting to the polls.Do this right up until the polls close.

PLEASE…THIS WILL BE A VERY VERY Tight race.
We need to make sure the registered voters vote.

Please copy this message and pass it on to friends and family and neighbors and colleagues.

FOLKS – THIS NEEDS TO GET OUT

I posted this link in the prior thread, but I think this is pretty big. Apparently, a January 23rd letter written by Clinton Campaign lawyer Lyn Utrecht has surfaced, and it details voter intimidation and voter suppression in the Nevada caucus.

I was wondering when some of this would come to the surface.

I think this is a story that might have some legs, given all attention that ACORN is drawing these days.

    Against Obama
    By Alexander Cockburn
    ==
“In substantive terms Obama’s run has been the negation of almost every decent progressive principle, a negation achieved with scarcely a bleat of protest from the progressives seeking to hold him to account. The Michael Moores stay silent. Abroad, Obama stands for imperial renaissance. He has groveled before the Israel lobby and pandered to the sourest reflexes of the cold war era. At home he has crooked the knee to bankers and Wall Street, to the oil companies, the coal companies, the nuclear lobby, the big agricultural combines. He has been fearless in offending progressives, constant in appeasing the powerful.”

      good article

  • EightBelles

No one can accurately predict what the outcome will be of Election 2008 because what we’re dealing with is widespread voter fraud (ACORN), elite MSM in the tank for Barack Obama & wildly fluctuating polls, many of which are as biased as the media. A McCain-Palin victory, if it happens, will be despite the aforementioned odds and on top of the DNC’s corrupt Obama political machine. That’s a tall order and yet Joe the Plumbers from all across the land can make this happen against all odds.

If McCain-Palin lose by a small margin, you know there will have to be inquiries into irregularities at the polls. Otherwise there is no justice in the universe. Should Obama-Biden lose by a small margin, one can only assume they have lost by a much larger margin once you factor in all the voter fraud. It’s a sad day in American history when this sort of corruption comes to be taken for granted, but there you have it–election 2008.

    • Shiloh

The fraud stuff is not going to amount to a hill of beans. it is mostly about registrations and that doesn’t translate to votes. Where there are votes, they are about evenly split on both sides. Only if a state is very very close can fraud make a difference.

As for bias in the media and polls… that’s old news. That effort has been exhausted and the campaign of illusion has failed. Why is it against “odds” to win against bias? Bias is only as good as the actual VOTES it produces and in the end it isn’t producing many.

When the REAL voting is done none of the BS will factor in. It was all about persuading voters that Obama had it won, all about the belief that perception becomes reality. Well team Obama is about to learn that reality is tougher to overturn than that!

      O is for over.

      • EightBelles

Whether or not fraudulent registration amounts to votes quite often hinges upon the integrity of those who work the polls on election day. I regret to have to say I’ve spoken to numerous individuals who believe Barack Obama is who he says he is based exclusively on the elite media’s skewed reporting in his favor. Regrettably most voters don’t engage in online research to the extent of bloggers at NQ and similar sites. That said, I hope you’re 100% right in your statement that “team Obama is about to learn that reality is tougher to overturn than that!”

I admit – I love so many of the links posted at NoQuarter. Links to telling youtube videos, links to great articles from the MSM and so many of the fantastic blogs supporting our shared hopes for the future of our country. Links that give me hope…

But, at the rick of sounding a little arrogant,
there is only ONE LINK we need to visit in the next couple of days.
Without further ado, here it is!

    http://www.johnmccain.com/Informing/StateContact.htm

What are we doing here?! Typing on a keyboard targeting a bunch of folks with the same goals!
At this point, we’re needed elsewhere!

GET OFF YOUR COMPUTER AND OVER TO THE NEAREST MCCAIN / PALIN CAMPAIGN OFFICE!!
The link I have provided above will show you where you can volunteer in your area.
Get out there and make phone calls! The McCain team has millions of phone numbers for undecided voters and they need our help. Even if you live in California, or any other blue state, you can start calling voters in PA, OH, FL and the rest of the swing states. If we can successfully reach out to the undecided voters in a few key states, WE WIN!

Make calls. Take the high road. Remind average ‘Joe’s’ EVERYWHERE how much John McCain has given to his country, his track record of reaching across the isle, his vision for a better America, built on the ideals and work ethic that have made our country GREAT! If you feel the need to bring up 0bama, put aside the lack of a Birth Certificate, his association with sleaze-balls… Just remind people that he has already shown us that he’ll say ANYTHING to get elected, (Public Financing, his tax cuts for people making less than 250K, then 200K and now 150K and his record of raising taxes on those making only 42K! Expose him as the candidate that can’t be trusted and again remind voters of the fact that Sen. McCain has a 30 year record of keeping his promises!

    To quote Mac,
“Fight for what’s right for our country.

Fight for the ideals and character of a free people.

    Fight for our children’s future.

Fight for justice and opportunity for all.

Stand up to defend our country from its enemies.

Stand up for each other; for beautiful, blessed, bountiful America.

Stand up, stand up, stand up and fight. Nothing is inevitable here. We’re Americans, and we never give up. We never quit. We never hide from history. We make history.”

And with that said, STAND UP! Get off your computer! Get to the nearest McCain office and help WIN THIS BATTLE!!

THAT’S IT. I’m off my soapbox. I’m out the door on my way to make a difference!

    Keep the faith, folks.

I caucased for hillary in Nevada and in district (27)Obama’s supporters were loud and obnoxious and they did indeed intimidate some of the seniors, their behavior did shake us up a bit…But she still had more votes. I was surprised to see so many supporters for him…But who knows…Many districts at the elementary school…The county caucas had to be done twice…She had thousands more supporters…Did I say thousands more and we were jerked around and they vacilated back and forth with voting instructions it was a complete disaster and the Nevada DNC did it’s best to discourage Hillary supporters and they tried to get us to give in and leave or support Obama. I could not believe what was happening…. Did I mention there were thousands more there on behalf of Hillary Clinton…..In addtion I belive whole heartedly the Obama camp planted some Delegates in the Hillary camp…You have to choose to be a delegate and then a vote is cast but you are not bound…But again she won my District and there were thousands more at the county level caucasing for her…And some how he managed to get more delegates…Go Figure….

McCain to Obama: “My country has never had to prove anything to me”

    by Mosheh Oinounou

SPRINGFIELD, VA — John McCain took aim Saturday at remarks Barack Obama recently made in which the Democrat said his faith in America “was vindicated” when he won the Iowa caucuses.

“We learn more and more about Senator Obama. He said the other day that his primary victory ‘vindicated’ his faith in America,” McCain said to boos from more than 3,000 supporters at his rally in Northern Virginia today. “My country has never had to prove anything to me, my friends. I have always had faith in it and I have been humbled and honored to serve it. “

Reviving a line that Obama has used repeatedly since his victory in Hawkeye State last January, the Democratic nominee told his Des Moines rally Friday, that, “on the day of the Iowa caucus, my faith in the American people was vindicated and what you started here in Iowa has swept the nation.”

    UPDATE–2:50pm ET: Obama campaign response:

“It’s pathetic that John McCain would take a statement Barack Obama has been making for a year about his faith in the American people and distort it to attack his patriotism,” said Obama spokesman Bill Burton. “Sadly, this is what we’ve come to expect from a desperate, dishonorable campaign that will say anything in a failed attempt to win this election.”

To Bob–Christmas Novena that has never failed? Oh! please would you share with me? I love Christmas and have a special petition I would like to make of the Christ Child. I need all the help I can get.

I am interested to see how the media starts backpedalling tomorrow. I think this is looking very good for McCain/Palin.

THE PATH TO VICTORY FOR McCAIN IS IN OUR HANDS

The media polls are heavily weighted towards Democrats in terms of Party ID. With that kind of heavy weighting, it would be impossible for McCain to show any lead even if he had a small led among independents. For example, Rasmussen currently assumes the following party id break down: Democrats 40%, Republicans 32.8%, and Independents 27.2%. He is assuming a whopping 7 percent advantage in party id for the Democrats. This is a big barrier to overcome in these polls. If we assume a 85% Democrat support for Obama and 85% Republican support for McCain and a 50/50 breakdown among independents (ignore undecided and third party candidates) this would translate to a poll finding of 52.5% for Obama and 47.5% for McCain which incidentally gives the same 5% spread as in the current Rasmussen poll.

Note that all of this is simply from the 7% party id advantage. If we reduce the party id spread to 3%, the numbers would change to 51% for Obama and 49% to McCain. Now if we assume that McCain picks off more Democrats than Obama does Republicans, 85% Democrats for Obama and 90% Republicans for McCain then the outcome will be 49.3% for Obama and 50.7% for McCain, a clear LEAD.

What this simple analysis shows is that there are two crucial things for McCain victory:

    a) HIGH Republican turnout.

    b) HIGH PUMA (Democrats against Obama) turnout.

I strongly believe that both are very achievable. It all comes down to TURNOUT, GOTV, and ENTHUSIASM. This is why Obama and his media acolytes are working overtime to demorialize and suppress the turnout among Republicans and PUMAs. We have to keep working hard, ignore their propaganda, and get out and vote.

One final thing. Rasmussen has been steadily increasing his Dem party id advantage over the last three months. I suspect the same with other pollsters working for major media news organizations. However, the Republican base and the PUMAs are as energized as the Dem base and may in fact be even more energized. In addition to this, if last minute deciders go overwhelmingly against Obama as happened during the Democratic primaries in the swing states, McCain should win by an even bigger margin. The media and their pollsters are in for a huge surprise.

From an ex-Democrat turned independent supporting McCain/Palin ’08.

I was searching for info on O’s “lost thesis” and stumbled upon this site. A very good read. How could anyone read this and still support him?

  • Anon21

Zogby has always been a below-average pollster, and his decision to stick the with party ID weightings from the 2004 election is just inexplicable. Pew, Rasmussen, and other reliable pollsters have all shown a substantial shift in party identification towards the Democrats; Zogby is not polling an electorate that much resembles the real one.

But in a way, I kind of like to see these stories. If you think there’s a chance, you’ll get your hopes up. If you get your hopes up, you’ll be that much more crushed when Obama becomes the President-Elect three nights from now. And all of you regular contributors and commenters on this site deserve to have your feelings crushed, and to see your fondest hopes for this election go up in smoke.

This is gonna be fun to watch!

    • Mr. X

Keep talking because this is exactly what the Republicans and Hillary supporters respond to. This will drive them to the polls. Obama thinks this will slow down turnout. It will have the opposite effect and we can thank the Obots for Obama’s loss.

    • torland077

      Annon21,
your stupid. the most accurate poll in 2004 was the Zogby poll. Not just presidential but congressional. Do you even look into the crap you spew before you say it or do you just say whatever comes into your drug addled brais?

      • torland077

        brain.

      • Chicago

Actually the most accurate poll was the IBD/TIPP poll which came within .4%.

Now, what was you email address, again? We need to know how to reach you, so we can gloat, er, ask for your gracious congratulations when JohnnyMac wins Tuesday.

That’s Nate Silver’s talking point. We’ll see on election day, when I believe McCain will shock the world.

Go to Gretawire. She has some photos up of the Palin’s on the bus and trick or treating. Piper is so cute as a Snowprincess and baby Trig is an Elephant! (as in republican elephant!) things that make you go….ahhh.

    • Dawnelle Leona del Puma

I watched that interview. Very cute. Kinda hokey but cute!

Ok some local news………. just got back from checking out a couple neighborhoods for yard signs (south Asheville)

First we drove through an older middle class neighborhood (homes now worth maybe 200-300K and at least 10 yrs old)

      7 – 1 Mac signs over Bambi

thennnnnnnn we drove over to a very wealthy new neighborhood where the homes probably START at 600K and go upwards of 3mill

      dammit

5 Bambi yard signs to only ONE for MACK!!
(the name of the road leading into this area is called technology way if that tells you anything)

so we came home with an 8-6 lead for MACK

also saw about a dozen MORE road signs for Mack that were not there yesterday……… someone is replacing the ones that keep getting stolen – only a couple for BAMA

      tomorrow I will venture north

      • Dawnelle Leona del Puma

btw we decided to keep doing this because gas is now down to 2.35 a gallon!!

  • McPalin08

    Anon21,

What do you think the final party ID weightings from the 2006 Congressional elections, the year Democrats won control of Congress? More than 5%? Less than 5%?

    • torland077

Seriously Anon21 you really are ignorant about politics and you should stop revealing your stupidity.

First Zogby is showing a Dem party ID advantage, Second using 2006 numbers is irrelevant it is an off year election and the “out” party always gets higher turnout and results, that comparison is ignorant. Third the biggest issue is whether these huge gains in Dem registration and youth turnout should be factored and there is nothing to support that, in fact with over 1.3 million ACORN registration examined only 400,000 have been allowed. 2/3rds of the registrations are bogus and not allowed. Not to mention the 10′s of thousands of Repubs that switched just to screw with the Dem primaries. I have been hearing about high youth turnout since MTV has pushed for voter registration and it never materializes. And the exit polls are showing that to be true again this year in early voting. Fourth Repubs always outperform polling numbers every year and all you have to see is how Obama underperformed the polling numbers state after state in the primaries to see how this could be magnified. Fifth the unusually high hangup rates in polling this year would seem to indicate a anti-obama sentiment is under polled. Sixth to not account for the anti-Obama sentiment in the Dem party after the almost unprecidented bruising primary is unbelievable. and seventh like it or not there will be a Bradly Effect.

Senator Governor may end up winning but if you think you have any idea of what you are talking about you are delusional.

I am from California currently at a very very large International convention in Houston Texas and I can tell you that every day I have talked to people from Texas, Co, Florida and a few other states, oh, Virginia and Kentucky and I have yet to find a Obama supporter. I did see two ladies with Obama shirts. This is not a political event, it is a festival for textile art and quilts. My polls shows JM way up. Also, everyone I talked to has voted early. I will get back home in time to cast my vote. I don’t think the polls matter. I think that when the moment of truth occurrs in that voting booth, that will be the only poll that will count.

  • hootnannie

It’s just plain niave to believe most Americans are going to ignore Bobo’s associations and his far left ideas and vote for him. Almost everyone connected with him is slimey, and he continues to whine, “Oh, I didn’t know!” Well, then, he’s too obtuse to be President.

  • Josephine the Plumber

Since this is an open thread, I want to add this here.
I was taking a break from the more serious political discussion when I decided to look at B.O.’s horoscope for November. Of the several horoscopes I glanced at, this one was the most specific. If only it proves to be true!

    Leo

Since nobody likes to take a little risk more than you do…or even a big gamble on a horse or a stock tip, even you have learned your lesson from the latest financial fiascoes. Namely, putting your money where ‘too good to be true’ turned out to be ‘it wasn’t true,’ and you lost.

Sorry, but I forgot to grab the link.

Investors Business Daily has Senators McCain and Obama tied in the midwest today, which I’ve suspected all along. Overall, they have Senator Obama at 46.7% and Senator McCain at 44.6% (another tie) with 8.7% undecided. According to Fox News, Investors Business Daily’s poll was closest to the actual results of the ’04 election.

    http://www.ibdeditorials.com/Polls.aspx?id=310496941909729

Eight percent undecided the day before the election is at least twice what we’ve seen in the past. I find it difficult to believe they’re really undecided, they’re just not saying. History points to the undecided being more likely to go with the comfortable candidate – the one they know. With people afraid of being a labeled a racist, many maybe claiming to be undecided when they have made their mind up to vote for Senator McCain.

If Investors Business Daily’s poll is the most accurate again and the undecided follow history, Senator McCain should have a good day on Tuesday.

Hey Bot–You just posted this tripe in another thread. Obama bin Biden has given us more material than we have time for. Who needs the Whitey Tape? Everybody that’s not an Obot knows MEchelle is an angry bitter racist.
