Obama: “Send Some Price Signals To Change Behavior”

Nice idea Barack, you SOB. Crank up those heating prices. Make old and disabled people freeze their asses to death. We know they are a drag on society to you anyways, right? That will go really well with an idea that old people aren’t entitled to expensive health care procedures because they are…..well……old. Cost effectiveness! That’s the ticket.

Crank up those electric prices so they live in the dark while they shiver a lot, you SOB. Meanwhile, how come you drive an SUV?

Mr. “I Care”: Make poor people buy those $8.00 epilepsy and migraine triggering yellow-glowing light bulbs, and make them buy new fixtures where the bulbs won’t work– instead of eating. The ones that are mercury-toxic when they break. Whatever you do, don’t let people know that you nutballs passed a law to phase out incandescent bulbs in the near future to force people to use expensive toxic lighting. You took the mercury out of thermometers and now you want to riddle people’s homes with even more of it.

Your pictures are everywhere! Your face is everywhere! Just like Saddam Hussein and North Korea’s Dear Leader! Just like Stalin! Just like Mussolini! Just like Hitler.

Just like Big Brother. Just ask Joe The Plumber.

You deserve to wake up next Wednesday morning knowing it Sucks To Be You. May the rest of us escape your ambition-sucking, poverty-driving, government-dependent, Worship-Me Totalitarian Rule.

One quick note. Obama drives a Ford Escape Hybrid.
Bfore that he had a Chrysler 300C. A sedan.

    Amen Uppity.
I have a new name for him. The Prince of Thieves, especially with stealing from those who work hard and have to give to the poor. I have no problem paying taxes and helping those who need it ,but I don’t want the government telling me who we need to give it to, especially Barry’s cronies.
I just hope this nightmare is over on November 5th and this clown can go back to Chicago with his tail between his legs.

  • pk

I just don’t understand how, with a campaign that has gone on for almost two years and that has involved hundreds of millions of dollars, the United States will probably end up with a president that is even worse and more dangerous than Bush. It’s true that Obama’s “image” is everywhere, but it seems as though the majority of Americans have been brainwashed by this personality cult (a successful marketing campaign of this fraudulent “political product”).

  • FenelonSpoke

^^Troll. You’re on every thread-here morning, noon and night. Obama suporter TROLL. NOBODY here-but other trolls are buying your bs.

Maybe before he inacts all this he can send a quart of heating oil to Auntie Zeituni shivering in her Boston tenement? Maybe a crust of dry bread? Barry, are you listening?

Let’s not forget about the European vacataion this summer.

  • Clara Barton

I just don’t see how a campaign that has gone on for 2 years, or 3-4 if you count Zero’s plans from the start, has spent billions of dollars has failed to close the deal. He’s not real good with efficiency of time management or fiscal policy. What a waste of money.

And every crustacean that Beast Michelle swallows whole equals the carbon footprint of 25 Chinese coal miners (one must take into account the output of the lobster-fishing industry and transportation from rural areas like Maine to five-star Hotels in urban areas around the globe).

  • Animal Control

    Uppity or anyone else,
I like the tone of this post, however can anyone direct me to more information about these light bulbs etc because I changed all mine under the belief that I was doing the right thing. What’s this all about?

    Thanks

  • KarenAnn

My son and daughter-in-law are hoarding incandescent lightbulbs because of the mercury laden ‘new light bulbs’. Their son, my grandson, is autistic and the possibility of toxic mercury is something they don’t need because Josh has trouble eliminating toxins from his system, even those that occur in everyday life such as arsenic in tap water (they have a water filtration systen to filter it out).
The thought of these new bulbs is terrifying for them.

  • KarenAnn

it must be Democrat payback to GE for making MSNBO the chief campaign network for Obama.

My God this guy is dangerous.

He wants to fuck with the power plants? Our Grid is alerady on the verge of breakdown

The U.S. Faces Serious Risks of Brownouts or Blackouts in 2009, Study Warns

Enviro Group Lawsuits, Cost Concerns, Climate Regulation Uncertainty Cited As Major Obstacles To Grid Improvements

Denver, CO (Oct. 1, 2008) — A new study released this week highlights what experts have been saying for years: the U.S. faces significant risk of power brownouts and blackouts as early as next summer that may cost tens of billions of dollars and threaten lives.

The study, “Lights Out In 2009?” warns that the U.S. “faces potentially crippling electricity brownouts and blackouts beginning in the summer of 2009, which may cost tens of billions of dollars and threaten lives.”

“If particularly vulnerable regions, like the Western U.S., experience unusually hot temperatures for prolonged periods of time in 2009, the potential for local brownouts or blackouts is high, with significant risk that local disruptions could cascade into regional outages that could cost the economy tens of billions of dollars,” the report warned.

U.S. baseload generation capacity reserve margins “have declined precipitously to 17 percent in 2007, from 30-40 percent in the early 1990s,” according to the study. A 12-15 percent capacity reserve margin is the minimum required to ensure reliability and stability of the nation’s electricity system. Compounding this capacity deficiency, the projected U.S. demand in the next ten years is forecast to grow by 18 percent, far exceeding the projected eight percent growth in baseload generation capacity between now and 2016.

The study, which can be downloaded here, estimated that the U.S. will require about 120 gigawatts (GW) of new generation just to maintain a 15 percent reserve margin. That will require at least $300 billion in generation and transmission facility investments by 2016.

    Read the rest here

Additionally he mentioned greenhouse gasses. Consider me one of those flat-earth “deniers”

It’s disputed that CO2 increases are the cause of climate change for two reasons:
    – On Earth at the levels that CO2 are at, there’s a question on the basic premise that it has any real effect at all
    – Several studies have concluded that CO2 Increases in the air have been the RESULT of Air Temp Increases not the cause because their data shows the CO2 increases coming after the onset of warming period.

Also, the most influential molecule in regards to retaining the sun’s heat in the air, is water vapor. That’s right.. the clouds.

And I’d like to point to something else that is in the sky, and that is that big yellow thing that can hurt your eyes if you look at it.

There hasn’t been warming for over ten years now.

This year was to witness the start of Solar Sunpot Cycle 24

Read the following headlines (and laugh)

December 21, 2006 – Scientists Predict Big Solar Cycle
Solar cycle 24, due to peak in 2010 or 2011 “looks like its going to be one of the most intense cycles since record-keeping began almost 400 years ago,” says solar physicist David Hathaway of the Marshall Space Flight Center.

April 25, 2007 – NEXT SOLAR STORM CYCLE WILL START LATE
The next 11-year cycle of solar storms will most likely start next March and peak in late 2011 or mid-2012 – up to a year later than expected – according to a forecast issued today by NOAA’s Space Environment Center in coordination with an international panel of solar experts.

December 14, 2007 – Is a New Solar Cycle Beginning?
The solar physics community is abuzz this week. No, there haven’t been any great eruptions or solar storms. The source of the excitement is a modest knot of magnetism that popped over the sun’s eastern limb on Dec. 11th.

January 4, 2008 – NOAA confirms start of new sunspot cycle
A new solar cycle is under way. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said Friday that the first sunspot of a new 11-year cycle has appeared in the sun’s northern hemisphere.

March 28, 2008 – Old Solar Cycle Returns
Barely three months after forecasters announced the beginning of new Solar Cycle 24, old Solar Cycle 23 has returned.

May 19, 2008 – Sunspot cycle more dud than radiation flood
Many solar scientists expected the new sunspot cycle to be a whopper, a prolonged solar tantrum that could fry satellites and raise hell with earthly communications, the power grid and modern electronics. But there’s scant proof Sunspot Cycle 24 is even here, let alone the debut of big trouble.

Aug 29, 2008 – Still No Sunspot Action on the Sun
“I am surprised that if it’s going to be big solar cycle 24, it’s taking this long for sunspots to get started.”

Sept 30, 2008 – Spotless Sun: Blankest Year of the Space Age
“Sunspot counts are at a 50-year low,” says solar physicist David Hathaway of the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center. “We’re experiencing a deep minimum of the solar cycle.”

The last time this happened was the late 1700s and was regarded as a mini-ice age.

Consider that as you witness record cold temps around the world.

And then also there is this story

Boston (MA) – Scientists at MIT have recorded a nearly simultaneous world-wide increase in methane levels. This is the first increase in ten years, and what baffles science is that this data contradicts theories stating man is the primary source of increase for this greenhouse gas. It takes about one full year for gases generated in the highly industrial northern hemisphere to cycle through and reach the southern hemisphere. However, since all worldwide levels rose simultaneously throughout the same year, it is now believed this may be part of a natural cycle in mother nature – and not the direct result of man’s contributions.

This Man-Made CO2 Global Warming crap is NONSENSE.

And we’re supposed to dramatically change our way of life soley because of that?

    NO

It’s a smokescreen for Enviromarxists to try any way possible to impoverish everyone.

PK, agreed. IT is truly scary that none of this was broadcast to Americans before this election re Obama.

I’ve stayed up on the revelations about OBama almost as well as you all have. I can tell you this, noone in the general public knows about:

    1. Obama’s New Party Membership
    2. The results of Obama’s public financing of private developers to create low iincome housing in Chicago
    3. Obama’s rejection of democratic centrism (the DLC) in 2003 at the request of Black Commentator, a socialist online magazine.
    4. Obama’s ties to Reverend Meeks, another racist.
    5. Obama’s carrying of Wright tapes to Harvard to “steel” himself against white influence.
    6. Al-Mansour’s sponsorship of Obama starting in the LATE 1980′s (see Percy Sutton)
    7. Obama banging Vera Baker in 2004 at his hotel (the driver admitted dropping them off there late at night)
    8. Obama’s trip to Pakistan under an Indonesian passport.
    9. Obama’s Kenyan citizenship – making Obama the one and only possible President who was a dual citizen since the American revolution.
    10. Obama’s extreme collectivist and anti-American, anti-exceptionalist views like this video, the 2001 tapes, etc…….

That’s just ten…the media will turn on Obama and much of this will be front and center for budding Woodward and Bernsteins, and eveyone will say “If only i had known i wouldnt have voted for him…blah blah blah”

    God Save America……….

  • Arcadianwind

Mr. Zero will be on the receiving end of some “signals” quite soon. In less than 72 hours his game will be over. His campaign of “smoke and mirrors,” dog whistles, and arrogance almost worked. But almost, it is said, only counts in horseshoes.

After Tuesday, he should just pack his things and head on to Jonestown with all his friends and acolytes at CBS, NBC, CNN, MSNBC, NYTimes, et al, and have one last party.

Back on topic: I don’t think we have to worry about any energy crisis, at least in the north, with Obama spewing out so much hot air all the time. And the energy that could be generated from his bullshit is significant.

Ok. I’m not going to presume you chickened out… maybe you went to have breakfast.

There are a few things I wanted to say but I was waiting for you to give the temperature data. However, since the tempts have declined , I doubt that you’re going to. No matter what temp data you use, the temp will be lower now. And I knew this of course, which is why I asked you.

To you other folks reading this.. don’t you recognize the pattern here? It’s just like the Obama campaign.

    - I’m told “the debate is over”… Hillary should drop out of the primary… McCain cannot win the election

    - I’m characterized in a way that is supposed to shut me up. I’m a loon. Hillary is a racist. McCain is erratic and Palin is a religious fundamentalist Creationist Converter-of-gays-to-straight Abstinence only Crusader.

    - Facts are irrelevant to the question

    - Authority resides with experts only and only those experts in the Academy. I don’t know about anyone else, but I give ZERO credibility to anything that comes from the unreal world of a university unless it’s really compelling.

Global Warming is a jackpot for Govt and Industry Grant Money. If you want to get some free money , link your issue with Global Warming.

And also, anything that NGOs and the fools in EUtopia are the leaders about has to be fundamentally retarded.. and so it is with this.

Global Warming is a fraud. One of the most dangerous and pervasive of our time.

As so many of your eyes have been opened to the deceitfulness of the Obama campaign and his friends on the Far Left, please also recognize that with Global Warming.

  • SBwa

Ethanol is not even that clean of fuel when you consider the pollution and waste that creating it entails. I lived in Iowa for 8 years until two months ago and we had ethanol plants nearby. The amount of water required to produce ethanol from corn is outrageous, as well as the amount of coal-burning fuel. The only reason we make corn-based ethanol is because of the subsidies and lobbyists (who supported Obama). And, oil companies will “splash and dash” — i.e., they come to the U.S., add a minimum content of ethanol to their gasoline, and then are able to collect subsidies for the ENTIRE amount of oil in their barges. then, they leave our country and sell it in a foreign country where they collect yet another subsidy for the ethanol-laced oil. People complain about oil company profits but nobody is talking about splash and dash.

  • http://noquarterusa.net/ Lizzie Struthers

    Thanks. But comments. Sorry.

Obama arrived at Harvard Law School later that year, where he fortified himself with recordings of Mr. Wright’s sermons

OK. But taken in the context of the entire article I don’t think that’s going to scare anyone.

Vera Baker: it’s still too far out there. It’s not important what you or I think but what mainstream voters think. Also: I don’t give a hoot about anyone’s sex or personal life. That’s their business. They can fuck cacti for all I care. That only reflects on us.

It’s not about time.. it should be simple to show the temp is warmer now than ten years ago.. if it was really happening.

Besides, it’s been over 30 min that we been going back and forth.

It’s about you being full of shit and lazy. “They” say there’s Global Warming.. so you say there is.

You have no idea. You wont even look at the temperature.

And yet you think you know enough to call me a loon.

The brainwashing going in this country is disturbing. I face this all the time hen I talk to some people about the dangers of Islamism and Jihad and the unique dogma of Islam that makes it violent.

People who have no clue about Islam, Christianity, the Koran, and the Bible will counter-attack. say I’m racist , full of hate , etc. etc.. say that Christianity is no different than Islam, that the Bible tells people to kill too.. etc.

They’re wrong factually, they spent no time researching the issue, but yet feel compelled to call me a racist (or in this case a loon)..

And strangely enough it seems to me that the most strident defenders of this kind of belligerent ignorance are college education.

Only think the poor don’t get the help. This year I learned that the Democrat scam of taxing us to help the poor is just that, A SCAM.

A heart breaking scam. They use their control of those huge amounts of tax payer money to gain political power, enrich themselves, their friends and family.

So when you hear a politician say “tax the middle class to help the poor” always remember that he means “tax the middle class so that I can fondle your money and then send it to the poor via my friends (Tony Rezko), family and cohorts (Revs Wright and Phlem)”. And if ten cents on the dollar gets past them to help the poor it will be a miracle. But the Revs Wright and Phlem will preach “hate whitey, he is keeping you living in slums”

Would someone please address Barack Obama’s repeated assertion that the US shouldn’t be spending $10 Billion a month on Iraq when Iraq has a surplus of $70+ Billion?

    Obama Says:

We’re spending $10 billion a month in Iraq, at a time when the Iraqis have a $79 billion surplus.

Does Barack really think that $79 Billion will rebuild an entire nation’s infrastructure and it’s national security?

Everyone wants to end the war. Everyone wants to stop spending US money on Iraq, none more than the military, which is stressed to the max, and will have to be rebuild itself.

But it seems dangerous to risk Iraq’s stability by stretching their financial security when other states around Iraq or in the region are volatile. Pakistan. Afghanistan. Iran. Russia/Georgia.

And, speaking of Afghanistan. Doesn’t Obama say we should concentrate our focus there? Does he think Afghanistan is going to pay for it? Or will the US be contributing to that effort monetarily?

Does Obama think $10 Bil a month is too much for just Iraq? Or does he think we should spend $10 Bil a month in Afghanistan instead? Or does he think that $10 Bil a month is just too much to spend anywhere, except in the US?

Obama’s argument is problematic for me. Obama is actually advocating doing what we did 25 years ago in Afghanistan. How’s that abandonment working out for us these days? How’d that work out on September 11, 2001?

Democrats are applauding Obama’s demogoguery with passionate fervor. Yeah, that $10 Bil a month should go to US instead. But, are they thinking about what he is saying?

Obama has repeatedly asserted that abandoning Afghanistan was a mistake, no?!

Yet, Democrats are cheering the idea of leaving Iraq in the same situation that the US left Afghanistan in when we deserted them 25 years ago–which has turned out to be a very costly mistake for us, with horrific consequences to this nation.

Actions have consequences. Obama must think Democrats are stupid to demogogue this issue; either that, or he’s calculating he can flip on the argument once he’s won the election. Will Democrats who voted for him notice?

    The worse the better.

Just because a conclusion sounds like common sense does not mean it has any basis in fact. Global warming is partially offset by a phenomenon called global dimming. That is, the upward push on temperature created when pollutants suspended in the earth’s upper atmosphere hold in the heat created by pollutants on earth; is countered by the effect of the reflection of the sun’s ultraviolet rays off of multi-faceted particles of pollution which, filled in with condensed water vapor, provide a greater mirror effect than ordinary ‘pollutants’ such as pollen or dust. In other words, the earth’s atmosphere would be even hotter due to human generated pollution except for the effect of these pollutants screening out the sun.

  • oowawa

Like any aphorism, like “if at first you don’t succeed, try try again,” the expression has its point and its use, but will break down if you over-analyze it and stretch it. I would never wish my “country harm,” but I would wish harm to a corrupt political regime who would bring my country to ruin in order to aggrandize and consolidate the power of its leader.

Great…maybe you might get chance to read this EXCELLENT article written by Nader’s running mate- Matt Gonzalez…no matter who you vote for.

Matt Gonzalez was a strong Democrat until a few years ago when he saw what the Democratic party was really all about…

    http://www.votenader.org/blog/2008/10/29/what-do-they-have-to-do/

    an excerpt:

    The Trail of Broken Promises

    By MATT GONZALEZ

    PATRIOT ACT & FISA AMENDMENT

Sen. Obama supported one of the worst attacks on civil liberties in recent history, the reauthorization of the Patriot Act, which extended an earlier law granting law enforcement expanded powers to search telephone, e-mail, and financial and medical records, in addition to granting the federal government a host of other powers to combat so-called domestic terrorism. After saying he would oppose it if elected to the U.S. Senate (NOW questionnaire, 9/10/03), in July 2005, Obama voted for it.

But this wasn’t enough. After entering the presidential race and running on a “change” message, Obama vowed in February of 2008 to vote against—and filibuster if necessary—the FISA bill amendment (Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act) that gave immunities to telecommunications corporations that cooperated with the Bush administration’s warrantless surveillance program. This eavesdropping program clearly violated the privacy of law-abiding Americans at the behest of the president, and made the FBI under J. Edgar Hoover seem tame by comparison. Those voting in favor of the bill didn’t even first require full disclosure to see how deep the illegal conduct extended and agreed to apply the law retroactively.

Despite his promises to the contrary, and despite the vehement protests of many of his supporters, when the FISA bill came to the Senate for a vote this past July, Sen. Obama voted for it without explaining how this vote fit in with his change message or reconciled with his repeated claims he was going to protect the American people from repeated assaults on civil liberties by President Bush. Here was his chance to lead and make good on his promise, and what did he do?

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) called the FISA bill “an unconstitutional domestic spying bill that violates the Fourth Amendment and eliminates any meaningful role for judicial oversight of government surveillance” (ACLU press release, 7/9/08). Caroline Fredrickson, Director of the ACLU Washington Legislative Office called the bill “a Constitutional nightmare” and noted “with one vote, Congress has strengthened the executive branch, weakened the judiciary and rendered itself irrelevant.”

Obama even voted to stop debate on the bill so he could get back to the campaign trail. How ironic is it that he was in a hurry to give more speeches about change and hope but couldn’t find the time or integrity to convert these ideas into action?

On the eve of the vote MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow noted “I’m betting that [Pres. Bush’s] wildest dreams did not include the prospect that Congress — a Democratic-led Congress — would help him cover up his crimes. Yet that is exactly what the US Senate is poised to do.” (Countdown with Keith Olbermann, 7/8/08).

No matter who you choose to vote for this Tuesday-read this article first.

If you still decide to vote for Sen Obama…I suggest you get a mirror and take a good long look at yourself & your true motives…

Actually, there are a whole host of potential sources of ethanol in this country that lay untapped. The most plentiful that I can see is kudzu–a vine that is way too common in the South because it’s a botanical pest. (It was imported from Japan about a century ago as a decorative plant, like ivy. Unfortunately, in this country, it lacks the animals that readily feed on it.) It’s proved resistent to virtually all herbicides and only drought conditions seem to cause the stuff to brown (but let the first drop of rain hit it and it’s back to its lush green state).
Brazil has proved quite successful with its ethanol because it’s produced from sugar cane (and, currently, state officials in Alabama are looking to see if the state can produce enough sugar cane to make cane-based ethanol a reality here; ironically, as recently as 30 years ago, sugar cane could be found growing in the wild in the southern third of the state).
But, as it should be pointed out, ethanol (while there are shortcomings) is a much more dependable source than coal or oil, both of which are NOT able to produced in any type of short-term program. (Every bit of coal and oil that currently exists–whether being tapped or is untapped–or has ever been extracted is the product of long-dead flora and fauna. By long-dead, we’re talking in terms of MILLIONS of years gone. I’m not sure about you, but I don’t think I want to wait at a gas station THAT long to fill up my car.)

  • Not convinced

Its really quite sad how I get called a troll just because I disagree. My intention is not to cause an uproar, honest. I must say, I’ve tried to be very respectful (aside from a few jokes and sarcastic remarks here and there), which is much more than has been accorded to me.

  • JozefAL

We’re merely acting like Obama. If The One can condescend without offending his people, then why can’t we?

  • Jason

Global warming will happen even if we were to suspend all of our industries right now and stop all emissions. The planet warms and cools in cycles and to think that we, mere specks of dust on this ginormous rock, can stop it – hilarious! Who do we think we are?

The best we can do is to adapt to cope with climate change. This requires wealth. When sea levels rise and temperature changes, the poorest will be the worst hit. Those who live on coastlines and who can’t afford to move, etc.

Therefore the key to coping with climate change is economic growth. Those countries that are too poor to cope with climate change need free trade and capitalism in order to create the wealth they’ll need to deal with it. This is why the green’s whole “anti-industry” crusade will do more to hurt humans than anything else. Industry is our lifeblood, the key to our survival.

If we cripple our industries and economies to halt emissions, we will slow global warming only a tiny amount. Is it worth it? Best focus our efforts on coping with a change that is inevitable.

  • Not convinced

Look. We disagree on that. I dont believe that Obama is condescending. You do.

But I’m sure we can both agree that being condescending is bad. So please, dont be condescening to me, and I wont be to you.

  • streetparade

Section 8 housing vouchers, Medicaid, food stamps, TANF, public housing, free bus passes, universal free K-12 education – and this is just what taxpayers provide, nevermind all of the private charity.

This country does an enormous amount to help poor people, but we are constantly being told that we are ‘selfish’ if we don’t do more. If trillions of dollars spent over decades has not changed the plight of the poor, and indeed a permanent underclass has been created, I think more than money may be needed.

  • TeakWoodKite

Exelon does not want clean coal technology.

  • Tristan

So every dollar of Obama’s “tax cut” or welfare check will go to coping with higher prices. He sounds like a “watermelon environmentalist” to me – green on the outside, red on the inside. For these guys saving the planet is just a cover for shutting down industry. YES let’s use less plastic and packaging. NO, let’s not shut down the entire energy industry and leave single moms shivering in the dark.
