I have mixed feelings of making light of this awful and dangerous man. Almost everything about Obama’s campaign is fraudulent. He masquerades as a uniter while dividing, polarizing and alienating us. I voted this morning around ten o’clock—and I live in a college town. The voting place was packed, but there were only a couple young people there. So either students in this area are going to vote in the afternoon after classes, or they’re not interested.

My son goes to a university out of town, and he mailed in an absentee ballot. He had to have it notarized, as was required by law. I wonder how many students are willing to go to that much trouble. (My son is a Hillary/ McCain supporter by the way.)

I am curious. If they are predicting a blowout and landslide for Obama, that would be based on the numbers for early voting right? But if it was a huge turnout for early voting, I know the Obama campaign, CNN, MSNBC, NBC would be playing the words over and over again.

Here is my point. If they are saying the “youth” vote and “aa” vote that suppose to save the day, didnt vote during early voting, I am trying to understand where there numbers come from. Our radio station here in NC has been taking calls and a majority of those that have been calling in stated the lines werent long, they were in and out. Everyone attempted to ask very subtle how many young people and AAs where in the lines. Maybe they will turn out before seven here in NC before polls close. I guess we will know later on.

I think a big turnout benefits McCain. I do not think that the AA’s and the youth vote are coming out in the numbers needed (so far today). The media is reporting on this story cautiously – but it’s hard to quantitate this kind of thing. (What are you going on? Visual inspection of voters?)

In my experience (40 years) of working on GOTV campaigns there is nothing harder than getting people to the polls. The “golden voters” the ones who show up for every election, even local ones, tend to be older.

Obama needed to be way ahead in the polls, like 20% in order to win because of the GOTV challenges all candidates face.

WhooHoo: my left-wing liberal husband just voted for McCain! He has never read No Quarter (this is my thing) and does not believe the media is in the tank for Obama (I still love him though..). That said, he voted for McCain because he truly believes he would be a better president. Now I’m telling you this because my husband is a PhD/Academic/Liberal who is not a PUMA. This leads me to believe that there are many more like my husband out there who are being overlooked because everyone assumes he would vote for Obama. Let’s hope so! Democrats are criticizing a 38-year-old man who parked a trailer load of manure across the street from Whitehall’s Democratic campaign office to protest presidential hopeful Barack Obama.

Terry Reed, who owns a construction and excavation company in Whitehall, parked the trailer near the office on Saturday. He also posted a sign in the manure mocking Obama’s “change we can believe in” slogan as “a load of crap.”

“I think Obama’s plan is just one big old poop sandwich and we’re all going to have to take a bite,” he said.

Suzanne Molyneaux, the Obama campaign’s election team leader in Whitehall, said traffic came to a near standstill as people stopped to take pictures of the trailer.

“People in Whitehall were upset, they were outraged,” she said. “I don’t think Whitehall should be represented as this podunk, ignorant community. There are lots of good people here.”

Reed said he doesn’t plan to move the trailer until after Election Day.

“My only regret is that I didn’t do something sooner,” he said.

I think the pollsters, etc, just plain failed to take into account the PUMA effect, and misjudged the reliability of the youth vote, as others have stated.

This article is the only one I know of that really tries to factor in the PUMA effect. The bottom line is that only 865,000 PUMAs nation-wide need to turn out to turn this to McCain by rather large margins.

In addition to the PUMA effect, there is what I would call the “Obama effect”, which is basically Americans are sick and tired of being called racists when asking Obama a question. There is the so-called ‘bradley effect’, but I’m of the opinion that we as a people are moving beyond that, and that the true effects will be the PUMA and Obama effects.

And we don’t like it when Obama puts us down as Americans and mocks our country.

My kid already voted absentee ballot ( she’s form Texas )…After her friend voted , Barky thugs blocked their exit until they said who they had voted for…My little PUMA said No Way we don’t have to tell you anything. She went and got a police officer. I told her to call the hot line and report it either the precinct number or location…

I hadn’t seen it b/c I came up behind her, but a woman walked over to her and said, “I’m sorry, it’s illegal to have anything with a candidate’s name within 200′ of the polling station. The hat woman didn’t move. The other woman walked away. Then a man walked over and stood with his arms folded and stared her down – the hat woman stared back at him & left her hat on. The man said, “So, you’re not going to honor the law?” All of us in the line were watching in anticipation…the woman said, “No – that’s a stupid law, that law sucks.” The man stuck his finger toward her and said, “That kind of thinking by you people (she was caucasian by the way) is what brought all of US out here today!” and he walked away and the way everyone was smirking – I guess most of us were voting McCain. Then a poll worker who had been inside the gym came out in the hallway and the hat woman rolled up her brim but didn’t take her hat off.
