McCain May Catch a Case of Pennsylvania

First, I want to address those supposed internal poll numbers that have McCain ahead in PA, MI, NJ and closing in on CA. I have not been able to verify those numbers. They could be true, they might not be. I said back during the primaries that a Pampers nomination would put PA, MI, and NJ in play. Since we know that the pollsters have not been releasing accurate numbers, as their models are weighted heavily to Pampers, with interviewees being mostly Democrats, I think it is safe to say that this race is tied, and will be decided by the undecided voters, which have been breaking for McCain, and will continue to do so. Why? Because if you haven’t made the commitment to Pampers by now you are nervous enough about his fraudulent fascist ass that you are going to hold your nose and vote for McCain; at least he is a known quantity. Internals cannot always be trusted either.

In NC internal numbers had Clinton within 5 points and shaving a point each day off Pampers lead; she lost by 15, but we know now that was due to double counted ballots, and other methods of fraud. Numbers can be given to motivate workers, volunteers, and voters. I think the best strategy is to not put faith in numbers and work your asses off in the next 24 hours to defeat Pampers. Keep making calls. Keep canvassing, get out the vote, and go vote yourselves. The Pampers fraud machine is in full force so we need every vote for McCain to count (we can deal with the “what should have been” with Hillary later). DO NOT ALLOW ANY POLL NUMBERS MAKE YOU FEEL THIS IS OVER.

And lay off the conscientious abstainers. They have made their decision based on their ethics. Respect it. If, in the privacy of the voting booth they have a change of heart, they will do that without being cajoled by us (my entire immediate family is voting for Pampers, guess how that feels?). Now, on to Pennsylvania.

I believe that John McCain is going to win the 21 electoral votes in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania on Tuesday. In 2004 Bush lost the state by 144,248 votes (see the above map of the 2004 result). The cities of Philadelphia, Allentown, Pittsburgh, Wilkes-Barre, Scranton, and Erie went to Kerry, while the entire rest of the state voted for the Shrub. Pampers will no doubt take Philadelphia. But McCain doesn’t need Philadelphia to win. He needs, and he’s going to get, Allegheny County.

In 2004 Kerry won Allegheny, and outlying counties, by slim margins:
Allegheny: 96,987

Beaver: 2,230
Washington: 552
Fayette: 4,075
That’s 103,844 votes. Leaving a margin of 40,044 votes in the 2004 totals.

There is one reason and one reason only that Kerry took these counties: Tereza Heinz-Kerry. Knowing this, Obama tried to trot her out in the run-up to the Pennsylvania primary. Her lack of enthusiasm for the candidate was pretty obvious. Obama has no such connection. In fact, the one thing he had going for him in the area, John Murtha, decided to pick the scab off the bitter/cling incident by calling his constituents racists, and then rednecks. Personally I think Murtha fell on a grenade, potentially ending his political career to prevent Obama from getting into the White House. Between that, Joe the Plumber, Bittergate, the Hillary/PUMA effect and Obama’s ever shrinking tax break income threshold (it used to be $250,000…now his ads say $200,000….his VP says $150,000….Bill Richardson says $120,000….we know it’s really around $42-50,000…middle class, get ready for the mugging) chances are McCain is going to win all four of those counties.

Another Kerry stronghold was Lackawanna and Luzerne Counties. Margins were not that wide there either.
Lackawanna County (Scranton is County Seat): 14,807
Luzerne County: 4,620

I believe that it is the PUMA effect that will have the greatest impact in drawing Democrats away from Obama. Forget Biden’s connection to Scranton. He hasn’t had any there in decades. No one is seeing his appearance there as a homecoming. It’s a hey I used to be from here vote for me kind of feeling. When Democrats for McCain and Harriet Christian are leading PUMAs on major canvassing safaris, reminding everyone what Obama and the DNC did to Hillary, the candidate they still love, what Obama said about them, etc. I see both counties in play big time. Thank you all for your hard work and dedication up there!

Joe the Plumber will also pull in votes in Allentown, and Erie. We hear time and time again that working class voters are “values voters,” meaning that they vote with the candidate whom they feel represents their beliefs, even if they are voting against their economic interests. In 2008 the McCain/Palin ticket not only speaks to them more, especially with a woman who comes directly from the working class, but will better serve their economic interests by not taxing them into the poor house, or taxing their employers into laying them off (and with those ever lowering tax thresholds that is exactly what is going to happen).

The simple fact of the matter is that if McCain’s internals didn’t have him in striking distance he and Palin wouldn’t be wasting their time. And if Camp Pampers didn’t think the same thing he and Biden wouldn’t be there either.

One final factor working for McCain: Pampers fatigue. Pennsylvania was the state that shocked the nation when polls came out saying they were sick and tired of hearing Pampers’ voice and seeing his face everywhere. They felt that way during the primaries. I can only guess how they feel now. I would imagine there are a lot of people in PA doing what I do…turning down the volume on the TV, changing the channel, or throwing random objects. No one overkills like Pampers whose motto must be, “Too much of me is never enough.” Pampers, I’ve got news for you; too little of you is too much of you. PA is also the state where Pampers told Ed Rendell, “We don’t need the people, we just need the checks.”

Don’t be surprised if it’s going to be Pennsylmania for McCain tomorrow. Sorry Pampers, you need the people, not just the checks.

    Shtuey,

Thank you so much for this fabulous post. As usual you are spot on. Not to mention giving me some good laughs. I thank you for all your amazing hard work this election season. Great to see your writing here at NoQ.

I too think McPalin will take PA.

Pampers, I’ve got news for you; too little of you is too much of you.

    Priceless.

I love that line: “Too little of Obama is too much of Obama.” In fact, I suggest a new electoral equation to predict those bothersome battleground states:

    overkill + arrogance = disgust

(since Obamassiah’s arrogance is represented by “infinity” – the level of exposure doesn’t matter: the disgust factor is always over the top).

PA fell hard for Hillary. She won them over with hard work. It’s hard not to be “bitter”

  • withoutparty

I am trying to stay optimistic that McCain will pull this off tomorrow, but I have to admit I am worried that Obama has this thing locked up. I think I just need to turn off the cable news because they are all acting like it will be a huge landslide for Barack…ugh…Does anyone have any encouraging words for me?

  • SJ

Come on people we can do this, when I watch the lines with early voting and I see the Obama supporters out there, I know we the McCain crew can do better.

We can car pool, we can organize, we are accustomed to working that way at our PTA function, at hockey games for church and so on, don’t let the Obama gangs get the better of us, lets show them how it is done.

    GO VOTE for McCAIN/PALIN

  • David

The only way Sen. McCain can pull this off is a major backlash against Sen. Obama’s coal comments.

Basically, Sen. Obama said to the San Francisco Chronicle that while he can’t force coal plants to close, he can use enivronmental laws to force coal plants out of business.

That should cost him the state but probably won’t. It’s a disastorous policy. For all I know, this entire global warming thing is just a hoax to benefit certain wealth individuals who can provide new energy solutions.

Anyway, Sen. McCain has been hurt by President Bush not making a major withdrawal from Iraq.

And, he can’t seem to explain his health plan adaquately.

Anyway, I think the country is going to hell as soon as President Obama takes over. Combine immigration, a declining economy and affirmative action and you have a real bubbling cauldron. While people talk about Sen. Obama’s white support, he has the support of about 1 in 3 white males.

  • Kal

Shtuey!! Thank you for this analysis. I have been paying too much attention to the polls, and not using my head enough. This really helps, and is so detailed and contextualized — more real thought about PA than BO has ever had. You get it exactly right when you make him sound like a money-grubbing obamaton.

    Thank you Shtuey!

I think Obama will have a hard time getting the rural areas around me. The weather is nice, the snowbirds havent left yet. Fort Drum who voted 2 to 1 for Hillary. This is Republican territory, and we dont have early voting. So it will be going on from 6am to 9pm. I will be up bright and early voting for McCain/Palin.

The neighboring county to me might go for Obama, they have Syracuse. But maybe the outlying areas will go McCain.

Thats just my thoughts, I talk to quite a few people in the Chiropractor’s office. I work there, and its high percentage of McCain supporters there. Including married, and single women.

My 23 year old son says he’s voting Obama, but didnt sound to convincing to me. His girlfriend on the other hand is voting McCain. She is a conservative girl.. Gotta love her.

I have no idea what’s going on here in NM…Giulini was in on Saturday night for a rally at a park in Mesilla and yesterday Wes Clark came in and talked to veterans. I saw a picture today in the paper…didn’t even know he was showing up…

I’ve gotten two robo calls from a BISHOP, a couple from the McCain camp…NONE from Obama over the last couple of days. A couple of days ago (Saturday, I think)I saw a few college kids roaming around for Obama…one girl was in a cul-de-sac, completely lost. They must have been targeting registered Democrats…they didn’t show up at my door …maybe the Democrats have updated their rolls, since I de-registered in June. I got a flyer from MCain on taxes, etc. a few days ago.

Right all these fools that are supporting Obama because they want the war over in Iraq and he says he will end it, he is also saying he is going to put troops into Pakistan and Afghanistan.

What are we going to have then a redistribution of the war, this move will put our troops back on the firing line, put them still in harms way so all this talk of stopping the war by Obama is nonsense.

Kids at school today said that if Obama lost Pennsylvania they would be shocked to death. I don’t like these kids (their the 4 people ahead of me in the class rank) and wouldn’t mind if they suddenly met an untimely end to shock from an Obama loss. Poetic justice.

    WRONG.

Obama’s about to suffer a PUMA backlash already – which will be more than enough to get McCain to the finish line tomorrow. We’re the ones the MSM and major pollsters have been blatantly ignoring and marginalizing since June. They’re in deep denial about our existence and influence.

The coal comments will be the icing on the cake for McCain.

Personally I think Murtha fell on a grenade, potentially ending his political career to prevent Obama from getting into the White House.

This is the only statement I’ve seen that makes sense of Murtha’s self-destructive and inexplicable comments.

  • Lindsy

Rove & Sabato both called the election for Obama today. Both awarded PA to Obama and stated that it will be a landslide.

  • Firefly

Great post, Schtuey – thank you!

Here’s the sentence that has me in shock – because I just hadn’t thought of it – “Personally I think Murtha fell on a grenade, potentially ending his political career to prevent Obama from getting into the White House.”

Wow! If that’s what Murtha wanted to do, he sure did a good job of it, didn’t he? Such a muzzle has been put on all Democratic dissent I wouldn’t be at all surprised at him doing this, now that I think about it. And maybe 0bama, in one of his numerous broken promises, had told Murtha he’d make sure he got $2 million for his campaign – revenge can be sweet, donchaknow. I guess we’ll find out eventually…

OT: Pampers Obama said we rednecks wouldn’t vote for him because he has a funny name. Now, I wouldn’t vote for a Marxist asshat like him if his name were “George Washington” but what about other people? Here are some recommendations for a better name for him:
    1) Willard Kookish
    2) Milton Archboob
    3) McBee Frizzle
    4) Elmer Crispflush
    5) Goobi Leachwell
It’s fun, it’s easy, it’s more enjoyable than watching his braindead informercial! Or watching Keith Olberman (or as I call him, Casper Hardfart.)

  • Geo

I do. McCain is going to kick Obama ass in PA. I know. I lived there for 15 years. I know their lingo. There are certain trigger words that invoke an extreme reflexive response. One of these words is COAL.

You don’t take their COAL. Farmers have mineral rights to COAL.

Another thing they don’t like is show boating braggers, especially from HARVARD LAWYERS who stole the vote from Hillary.

Now add Joe the Plumber. PA is True Blue Collar. You might just as well have said you hate Steel-workers.

Now ADD the PUMA headquarters in Scranton, PA headed up by Lady-Rothchild, a self-made gazillionare. She says Obama is an elitist.

Elitist in another trigger word. PA people hate Elitists.

These and a litany of other factors have Obama getting his ass kicked in PA. It will not be close.

That Infomerical didn’t help either. You can’t buy
respect, you have to earn it, especially in PA.

    Feel better now?

  • Anne

This may be OT, but somewhat important. I don’t look back at my tax returns too much, but I did get my Social Security statement today, and as a small business owner employing 10-80 people over the last 20 years, I noticed that the sky was the limit and included the company’s earning for medicare for a couple of years after Clinton took office. Then it was capped. I suppose that was when the Republicans returned to control Congress. This tax was not based upon payroll, but the company’s earnings (other income for an S-Corp or partnership.) It is a small amount, 1.45% of those earnings, but if clarifies for me that what Obama intends to do is what Clinton did – tax the non-payroll earnings of small business owners for social security, which is 6.25%, plus the employer’s share, totalling a 12.5% increase over the Clinton years.

Obama has not said he won’t do it, and the mechanism is there to do it, per 1994-1995 tax code.

This HUGE tax increase is devasting to small business and will make owners make choices about paying taces or hiring or letting go employees.

Yes. If their predictions were right on, they’d be out dancing in the streets in celebration. Instead? They are doing their best to demoralize and spread disinformation. What happened to the whitey tape and all the stuff the Republican Operatives were going to dig up on Obama in Indonesia? Posters on this blog have been talking about it for months.

Last time I asked I was told the stuff would come out in late October. Well October has come and gone and nothing.

You’ve run out of time and bull on this one guys. If you can’t produce it then be quite. . To all the posters here who have been rude, vile, and outrageous to Obama and his family with their comments and user names it is time to shut up about it. And Obama supporters who posted vicious stuff about McCain here don’t get a pass either.

You’ve made a great case for a McCain victory. Thank you for your analysis.

  • FranSC

Remember, Obama did not win a single primary unless there were extenuating circumstances: his own state of Ill; states with high A-A voter registries (NC, SC, GA, LA, MISS, ALA, DC, MD, VA,). Wisconsin was the ONLY state he won that didn’t fall in a catagory – he won there because of the momentum from the 10 other straight wins after Super Tuesday. He won Oregon, as Pat Buchanan said, because everybody has a 10-speed bike and the prevelence of the young professional, college educated demographic.

It was the special circumstance primaries, the fraudulent caucuses and the paidoff super delegates that got him the nomination. It surely was NOT winning state-run elections.

For those who think he can sweep to a landslide in light of the above are dreaming.

Child person, the first time I heard of a whitey tape was on this blog. Posters here said over and over at the right time the Rpeublican 527′s would release it. When I asked about the timing I was given a detailed analysis on when the tape would surface with late October as the time.

Obama supporters and independents here called your bluff on this and you lost. And way to act like an adult with the BOBweenies comment.

  • KZnextzone

OK had to jump down and post
About Kenny….In case you didn’t know

I thought it pertinent to share with my friends and re-affirm my dedication to this campaign. I hope that none of my friends or family who may think that I have become “extreme” during this election actually think, I’ve lost my mind. The fact of the matter is that I voted for Reagan in 1984 when I was first eligible, and have since voted for two Bushes, a Dole and a Terminator.

My parents were both government employees and I was schooled in DOD schools, private schools and American public schools for my life. My father spent his career fighting Communism and I have seen the consequences of it myself. I remember stories of bombings in Bogota and Montevideo specifically targeting Americans, and my father’s coworkers being found in the trunk’s of their cars bound, gagged and shot dead. When we abandoned the South Vietnamese, we were among the last Americans to get out of Laos with all our house-hold effects. When Vientiane fell, Americans poured sugar into the tanks of their own cars to keep them from becoming VC property.

I have met Vietnamese students in college that have photos of South Vietnamese soldiers leaving trails of boots, belts and uniforms, so as to hope to evade their impending doom. I have seen the disturbing photos of stacked skulls and bones from the Pol Pot regime in Cambodia. I sat next to a Cuban woman on the bus from Las Vegas and she told me how she remembers cutting her father’s uniform into pieces smaller than a quarter, to hide his service in OUR military when the Castro regime took control on ONE fateful night..

I and my family were personally protected for many years by the elite embassy guards of the USMC. Each of those statuary, professional and stellar soldiers put their lives on the line for me and my family, and the protection of our diplomatic resources in foreign lands. I could never abandon them, they are truly my brothers.

These are the people that are fighting with us in this campaign, these are the faces and real experiences of people that have confronted and fought communist and socialist regimes in their homeland; and have fled to us for refuge. These are the people we have abandoned once before and yet they still trust us with their lives and futures. They came here to be free and have not been disappointed, but they recognize the clouds on the horizon as familiar and ominous.

We owe it to all of them, our children, our selves and our country to fight for what is right. It may never be the easiest thing to do, but it will always be the right thing to do.

    God Bless America!

Go PUMAs……we will fight for what we believe in. I honestly believe we will win PA. McCain/Palin

  • http://ohmyvalve.blogspot.com/ shtuey

Cindy, never underestimate the miracles of modern science. And I would assume that The One could make your uterus fertile once more. ;)

  • Tristan

MSM wants you to ignore the obvious: Obama is nothing more than a celebrity candidate and never gained the trust of most voters, especially the white working class. By tomorrow night when the PA, OH, FL, and VA returns come in, it’ll all be over.

  • WildChild

LOL what did I lose? No one here ever claimed to have it and we would have forgotten about it months ago if not for the BOBOweenie fixation on it.

  • http://ohmyvalve.blogspot.com/ shtuey

Thanks for the support folks! Pampers hasn’t broken 50%. And I don’t think the undecideds are that undecided. They’re going to go for McCain. If there was a messiah landslide in the works he’d be up 15-20%. He’s not. Stick a fork in ‘em PUMAs. Pampers only wins if we don’t vote.

  • Joy

Childish person, what did you lose? The election.

  • KathyNeocon

Childish person, what did you lose? The election.

    Bless you heart.

  • WildChild

How did I lose the election? The election hasn’t happened yet and most importantly, I’m not running.

  • Kibby

I keep wondering about that. All his talk is about getting out of Iraq (which is in really good shape right now) and then moving them all to Afghanistan with additional talk about Pakistan. Anti-war is just that, not just anti-some wars. Iraq was bad, Afghanistan is worse AND we probably won’t have Petraeus if Obama wins, he would get rid of him in a hurry OR Petraeus would be forced to resign. Gen Petraeus is a frippen genius, I’ve spent a lot of time blogging the Mid-East – he understands them and the differences between their lives/history and ours.

He is “fighting” the Iraq war by empowering the people, giving them self-respect and teaching them how to govern themselves. Much better than “guns”. We will lose that if Obama wins.

I am convinced he won’t win. Americans don’t vote radicals into the Oval office.

  • Joy

Child like person, from your BOBOweenie comments McCain is your candidate and your candiate will loose this election.

  • WildChild

ahhh so that’s it. Thank you for illustrating why I’m not a BOBOweenie. I can still draw a distinction between myself and the BOBO up on the stage lying to me about his opposition to bushes telecom immunity.

  • Northwest rain

I believe that the undecideds are just “not telling” — and why should they.

Also the exit polls will be out of whack with the actual votes cast — more of the “not telling”.

    Great read Shutey.

This was a good analysis but you are forgetting about all of the new “heads full of mush” people that have signed up this year to vote for the messiah. I live in the hopelessly blue state of Maryland but grew up in Western PA and all of my relatives still live there.

I can say my mother and stepfather are voting for the democrat as usual but my inlaws are switching over and voting for McPalin this time.

    +2 for McPalin

  • Lindsy

Obama wins the first votes cast in NH that traditionally go Republican:

    http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/11/04/barack-obama-big-winner-presidential-race-dixville-notch-nh/

I hope against hope that this is not how the election is going to go down.

If Obama actually becomes POTUS this will not be my America any longer.

  • educatedwhitewoman

Obama is the first Democrat to win Dixville Notch since Humphrey in 68.

And Humphrey lost (in a landslide I believe).

  • dormantDem

Funny, but I thought the same thing about Murtha…he’s a PUMA!

I’m in PA, and I believe my state will go to McCain!

    Get out and VOTE!

    McCain/Palin
    PUMA!

  • http://powerandcontrol.blogspot.com/ M. Simon

This R wants to thank all the PUMAs because without you it would have been much harder if not impossible.

Click on my name for an analysis of the election based on the spirit of America. Scroll down if it is not on top. It will raise your spirit.

Every vote counts because it is a vote against socialism. Don’t stay home even if your state is a lock for either party. Stand with Joe the Plumber. And Tito the Builder.

    McCain/Palin – You betcha!

  • Latinos for McCAIN

To the great people of PA, Please step up to the plate and vote for John McCain GOD knows we need PA for McCain. To the PUMA Please vote for McCain we need you and we love you!!! we need to UNITE together and vote for McCain/Palin08.If we win PA we win OH, FL, and VA. Those are the four key state for victory. Also we need CO. and NV. So please P.U.M.A. step up and help out and give a hand to John McCAIN. Hillary Clinton will run again in 2012. Latinos in PA Step up and vote for McCain

  • Soldier of Christ

Well….the old soldier just came back from voting in my great state of Florida. In my precint (which is walking distance) had a big crowd at 6:30am already when I came out. By the time I got inside to vote I had a bad feeling in my gut. First, our dear African American Election Supervisor Brenda Snipes had only one scanner for my precint and it broke before I got to it. You had to go fill out a big form and then put it in some confidential envelope (who gives a crap by for this envelope) and take it to the scanner to scan. When I started noticing that it was our “white” precint that was being held up by a broken scanner, I knew there was something wrong. How can you bring one scanner for hundreds of people? The line was two blocks down already and one scanner? The african american poll worker, who was on the phone talking to someone about the scanner couldn’t fix it, so we were told to throw the ballot in a box inside the scanner. When the pollworker said to me”thank you for voting”- I said” Maybe you voted, but I don’t feel like I did”. I removed the little sticker and threw it in the trashcan for them to see. What a holy mess, and unfortunately to add salt the wound, I accidently dotted out Brenda Snipes name instead of the other person running for election suppervisor. Holy Cow!

McCain is going to go down in flaming defeat and its going to be absolutely hysterical to watch the GOP blow up blaming each other. McCain is old and out of touch and does not belong in the White House. This is the 21st Century, not 1967. McCain represents everything that is wrong with this country. He represents intolerance, hate, and division. He will ruin this country, he will ruin our reputation in the world even more and he will ruin the economy, after all, the “fundamentals of the economy are sound.”

  • rsbriggs

Barack Hussein Obama will never be my president. This will be the last post I ever make, until after the war.
