In my precint (which is walking distance) had a big crowd at 6:30am already when I came out. By the time I got inside to vote I had a bad feeling in my gut. First, our dear African American Election Supervisor Brenda Snipes had only one scanner for my precint and it broke before I got to it. You had to go fill out a big form and then put it in some confidential envelope (who gives a crap by for this envelope) and take it to the scanner to scan. When I started noticing that it was our "white" precint that was being held up by a broken scanner, I knew there was something wrong. How can you bring one scanner for hundreds of people? The line was two blocks down already and one scanner? The african american poll worker, who was on the phone talking to someone about the scanner couldn't fix it, so we were told to throw the ballot in a box inside the scanner. When the pollworker said to me"thank you for voting"- I said" Maybe you voted, but I don't feel like I did". I removed the little sticker and threw it in the trashcan for them to see. What a holy mess, and unfortunately to add salt the wound, I accidently dotted out Brenda Snipes name instead of the other person running for election suppervisor. Holy Cow! I live in the hopelessly blue state of Maryland but grew up in Western PA and all of my relatives still live there. Iraq was bad, Afghanistan is worse AND we probably won't have Petraeus if Obama wins, he would get rid of him in a hurry OR Petraeus would be forced to resign. Gen Petraeus is a frippen genius, I've spent a lot of time blogging the Mid-East - he understands them and the differences between their lives/history and ours.
