The Invasion of the Pod People

This elections have had a profound and disturbing effect on me. After it became clear Obama was going to win I was so depressed that I lay awake most of the night with a feeling that I was surrounded by alien forces trying to break down my door.

I felt like I was in one of those movies from the 50s and 60s where people’s identities are taken over by alien forces and the central character is the only sane and uncorrupted person left on earth.

I thought of the central figure in the 1950s classic The Day of The Triffids, fighting against giant plants that were taking over people’s bodies and turning them into Pod Creatures. In my imagination I saw America being overtaken by Pod People, some wearing Obama masks and some having the faces of Louis Farrakhan, The Reverend Jeremiah Wright, Khalid al Mansour, Puff Daddy, Nancy Pelosi and Howard Dean.

My only ally in this nightmare was – God help me – Paris Hilton. Well, I did say it was a nightmare.

Although I tried to warn everyone of the danger, nobody took any notice. Including my wife, who was and is a great Hillary Clinton supporter and felt it her duty to vote Democrat, which she’s done all her life. It seemed as if she had also been taken over by the Pod people and I suddenly felt I was living with an alien who would let the Pod People get me given half a chance. She wants me to be a Pod Person like all the other people who voted for Obama.

Memories of other scary movies came flooding into my mind, like The Omega Man, in which Charleton Heston finds he is the last defender of humanity and western civilization after people start turning into vampires.

I saw the population of America turned into zombies by Barack Obama’s rhetoric, and everyone being forced to listen to nothing but rap music and Obama broadcasts.

I thought of The Invasion of The Body Snatchers, where a small town doctor realises that his friends and neighbors are being turned into mindless automatons by an alien life force that is using them like puppets.

People from the Night of the Living Dead were banging on my bedroom window and shouting obscenities at me, calling me a douchebag and other names favored by Obamabots. There seemed to be no escape from them.

I was also reminded of the movie The Creature Walks Among Us. I wonder why? And who the creature might be? I leave that for you to decide.

When I finally forced myself out of bed in the stark light of day, I was so depressed that I almost didn’t upload my second video on prejudice, imaginatively entitled PREJUDICE 2: The Sequel (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GtQRN6v7VNc). I thought it might be a little frivolous under the circumstances.

In the end I decided to upload it anyway, and I’m glad I did because quite a few people commented that it helped to lift their spirits.

But what about my spirits? Here I am living with an alien (who is upstairs as we speak, probably eavesdropping on everything I do and say so she can report it to her Pod Masters). Here I am witnessing the end of western civilization as we know it, and wondering if I’m the only person left to try to save our cultural and spiritual heritage for future generations.

But I draw some comfort from the fact that I have met some wonderful people on my Youtube channel (and here on No Quarter), who come from all walks and all political parties and who share a love of decency and civilized behavior.

To them and everyone else I say: Keep fighting, for God’s sake! Don’t let the Pod People win!

You are the best….please promise you will stay around to get us through the next four years.

  • Bridgette

Ha ha creepy! I had the opposite reaction…I went to bed at 10 and cried myself to sleep.

I was crying for Hillary. Cuz all I could think about was the fact that America just told the media and the DNC that what they did to her was ok. And that even though it’s 2008, sexism is still ok. It’s a depressing thought. But it’s exactly what just happened.

  • NoObama

  • fluffy bunny

Hillary herself enthusiastically supported Obama, especially the last 3 weeks.

  • http://www.wewillnotbesilenced2008.com OBAMA IS A FRAUD

I have been crying for two straight days. I fought like hell this election to expose Obama for what he is. I made a documentary about the caucus fraud to try to save Hillary’s nomination in Denver. I dug and dug up all of the TRUTH about Obama and passed it around to my glassy-eyed Hollywood liberal friends. They are no longer my friends and I feel very alone and sad now. I haven’t been to my office since this happened and I have been spending my days here and checking out property in Costa Rica feeling that America, my America, the America my father fought for is long gone.

Then something happened. A friend of mine who is a professional politician implored me to stay here with my “fighting spirit” and fight to get rid of Obama and save our country. I dismissed him. I have been pouting and whining that my country did this to me, and if the morons who didn’t have the common sense to learn the truth about this America hating, unelectable FRAUD, then I will leave them to their own self-destruction. I must admit that most, if not all, of me says that is the right course. But then I remember Senator McCain’s words “stand up and fight for America” and maybe I owe it to the man who put up with more years in the Hanoi Hilton as a POW than Obama will ever have as a political career to stay and fight. Maybe I will.

  • http://www.wewillnotbesilenced2008.com OBAMA IS A FRAUD

Yeah right. And then Hillary, Bill and Chelsea voted for MCCAIN. The Clintons hate Obama.

  • Bridgette

Ha ha ha…good one! That’s hilarious. Nice try O-bot. As if Hillary seriously supported Obama…lmao.

  • John Smith

Did anyone see Joe Scarborough on FOX this a.m.? Apparently Chris Matthews was on (with Andrea Mitchell), and Matthews actually made this statement:

“My job is to make this Obama administration a success. It should be the job of all journalists to make this administration look good because we are due for a successful Presidency.”

This needs to go viral. Joe really gave it to him, but Matthews is too stupid to know what a journalists’ job even is–to investigate the truth and report it factually to the American public, keeping public officials accountable to the people. His job is to “make Obama look good.” Please pass this on and/or contact MSNBC.

  • bemused

I had a very similar reaction, complicated by a little food poisoning. Remember in the War of the Worlds the invincible Martians were brought down by a common bacteria. Now that O. has to deliver, some of the self-righteous pod people may catch reality flu, one hopes. But hope dies hard, while we wait for that I see it as another 4 years like the last, having to watch and fight each incursion of liberty daily.

Keep fighting. Obammunists have captured the big media, and alternative media need to be created.

  • John Smith

Don’t worry the day is still young. You need to stand up and fight. This is your country as well and sometimes you have to fight for what is yours. The world has never been fair and never will be but persistence is 90% of every success. So this time we did not succeed but we have 2010 coming up and then 2012. That give us plenty of time to get ready and plenty of time for Obama to show the world what he is made of. We all hope that he will prove us wrong but we all know that will probably not happen. So we have to document everything that he does and what he promised everyone he will do. That list will be so long that the entire democratic party will hang them self with it.

  • Typewriterstreaming

Chris Matthews needs to be retired. We should make an effort to expose Chris Matthews for lying to the American public.

  • SFIndiePUMA

The only good thing to come out of this pitiful excuse for an election is that a former boss of mine – a staunch Republican with whom I had some rather lively discussions about Bush – and I have been able to commiserate together about Obama and have proven that yes, it is possible for a Republican and a former-Democrat-turned-Independent to stand side by side in solidarity! He doesn’t know it, but he’s a Republican PUMA!

Please, Old Grumpy Guy, don’t leave NQ. In the long, dark days ahead, we’ll need you more than ever!

  • wodiej

thanks for your post and I too hope to see you frequently. I can’t watch the video right now as I am at work but I will catch it later.

It’s just me and my dogs so I am not tortured by living w any pod bots. :) If I did, someone would have to move out.

I have been crying off and on and been in a daze for 2 days because of how Hillary and then Sarah were treated. Now some people in the Republican party are trashing Sarah. Rush Limbaugh is covering it, talking about how despicable it is. He said if Palin decides to continue in public service, it will just make her more popular.

Society accepts trashing women. I for one will continue to fight on not just for my sake and others, but for this dear country that I love and what it stands for. I was never prouder than when I attended a Sarah Palin rally and 10,000 people stood up w their hand on their heart and recited the Pledge of Allegiance and then sang the Star Spangled Banner.

    God Bless America.

I, too, am having a hard time accepting this. I will never fully understand how this fraud got elected. I am afraid for my husband, who is in the Navy. I am afraid for the future of my blond hair, blue eyed boys. I am afraid for our financial future. I am tense, irritable, and am unable to focus on anything. I am clearly having a physical reaction to the results of this election.

I have a phrase stuck in my head these last few days, I can’t seem to shake it.

    Rome fell from within.

  • Woodhull

I proposed this idea some time ago and I’ll give it another shot here.

I think we need to come up with an innocuous pin or earring (tiny, barely noticeable) that we can all wear that looks like some ordinary piece of jewelry so that we can know each other on the street. So we can say to each other “You’re not alone.”

    Whaddayathink?

  • lark

Actually not. Bush is very unlike Obama although both are a funny set of clowns. Bush’s motto is to follow the path of least resistance and to avoid chaos. Obama is exactly the opposite. He follows the path of highest resistance and seeks ‘chaos’ with desperation. So the next 4 years are not going to be like the last 4. Incursion of liberty, yes. Fighting it, that I have to say gets me ‘bemused.’

Thank you, Grumpy, for the post! And look at this. I’M sure this is just a bunch of whining white women who think they’re entitled:

Report finds pay gap for UT women faculty
AUSTIN — Women full professors at the University of Texas at Austin make $9,000 less annually on average than their male colleagues.

That’s according to a report prepared by a 22-member UT task force.

The Austin American-Statesman reports UT President William Powers Jr. praised the report for “identifying issues we must address to support the professional growth of our faculty.”

Provost Steven Leslie, who established the Gender Equity Task Force, said steps would begin immediately to address the report’s recommendations, which include developing a five- to 10-year plan to reduce or eliminate gender inequities in hiring, promotion, salaries and governance.

UT professor of molecular genetics and microbiology, Shelley Payne, says there’s a perception among the administrators that women are simply not as good as men.

The report noted shortcomings in everything from promotion opportunities to the overall campus climate for women faculty members.

Bill Moyers quote from just after 911 but it fits today’s situation:

To the Irishman’s question-’Is this a private fight or can anyone get in it?” the answer has to be: “Come on in. It’s our economy, our environment, our country, and our future. If we don’t fight, who will?”

  • wodiej

    yes, I like that idea!!

  • oowawa

Thank you Old Grumpy Guy for another entertaining and perceptive post. The “pod people” from “Invasion of the Body Snatchers” is very apt. I am also reminded of another science fiction tale, Fredric Brown’s “Martians Go Home,”–particularly when I think of all the pesky O-bots that swarm all over this site and the internet in general. It is really more of an “infestation” than an “invasion.” The movie “Gremlins” also comes to mind. In any case, we’re definitely in the realm of sci-fi/fantasy here.

  • Galt’s Voodoo Doll Emporium

I posted this in the previous thread when wodiej was lamenting on the abhorrent treatment of women we have witnessed:

You are forgetting that homo sapiens are bipedal primates not much more advanced than chimpanzees. All the ‘isms’ stem from nature. Will the human species evolve from diapers to Underoos/pull up diapers? I doubt it. We have been stuck on the tribalism, sexism, everythingelse-ism bandwagon for thousands of years. Sure, a few of us have gotten off the bandwagon, but based on the behavior and results of this ‘election’ I’d say about all we have been doing is suffering and bearing witness to the Planet of the Apes incarnate.

  • wodiej

why IN THE HELL do they need 5-10 years to address it?? They already know about it, bump up the pay NOW. That is just more horseshit to shut women up.

Old Grumpy Man, the movie you are talking about is
INVASION OF THE OBAMASNATCHERS (really Bodysnatchers). I have thought the EXACT SAME THING!!!

  • Margaret

Thank you for this post. You do such a great job of capturing the aloneness so many of us feel amidst the insanity. It’s comforting.

I understand your situation with your wife. My fiancee is an Obama supporter who doesn’t see any sexism in what has happened. We had a difficult exchange yesterday and we have ‘agreed to disagree’.

We don’t live together yet and still it’s hard. We move in together next month. How I am ever going to tolerate hearing Obama’s voice on the tv? I will have to leave the room.

My fiancee would like me to congratulate him that his candidate won. No can do. America lost. Democracy lost. Decency, respect, and honor, lost.
    What’s to celebrate?

When I said I hope I’m wrong about Obama he said well, you just aren’t going to let go are you, democracy has spoken. But I genuinely do hope I’m wrong about Obama, and democracy has most certainly NOT spoken. It’s been beaten to death. When I said I’m angry that this victory was stolen from women and given to blacks he had this pollyanna response of let’s all celebrate together as Americans. As if Obama’s win was not at the expense of women. As if I can celebrate the hatred perpetrated against my gender.

It’s terrible how destructive Obama is, all the way down to our personal relationships, he is taring this country apart.

But those of us who refuse, now or ever, to be pod people, must stick together.

Grumpy Old Guy, I’m a grumpy old gal (or at least the O-bot youth would think I am at 61), and, man, can I relate! My leftist husband, who voted for Nader, is needling me every chance he gets because I voted for Mac and Sarah. I’m a life-long Dem and Hillary supporter, and I wouldn’t vote for Obama even if Satan ran against him! (I would’ve written in Hillary’s name). I went to bed Tuesday when I heard that PA had fallen, and I’ve been half dizzy since, feeling like I’m in the Twilight Zone. If someone knocked on my door here in SE OH with a petition to secede from the union, I’d sign it!
I’m still waiting for the media to start talking about voter fraud because either that’s what happened, or we ARE facing pod people or the Antichrist! Does anyone really believe that IN went blue?!

  • JJR

This is too funny. On election night in NYC when people were wildly celebrating Obama’s victory, people who were not rejoicing enough were accosted by revelers. My friend was shouted at by a man on the street because she could only muster a weak smile at his Obama cheer greeting. I myself was called a b*tch by a complete stranger. People were being so confrontational, aggressively asking strangers, “Are you as happy as I am?” One man’s response to a woman on the subway was not good enough – he weakly responded, yeah, sure. . . go change. She snickered at him until he pretended more enthusiasm and explained he was Canadian and could not vote. I was terrified someone would ask me and that a crowd of people might attack me. Fortunately other than the stranger who called me a b*tch because I gently avoided her attempt to tap me with a celebratory Obama stick, no one else confronted me that evening. I texted my friend later when I got home to tell her I genuinely felt like a character in the film Invasion of the Body Snatchers, terrified that it would be discovered I was still me, a human. The next day, I texted her from work to say the body snatchers hadn’t found me out yet, and that I was still alive. . . so far so good. . .

Rome did implode but Rome still lasted a good 1,000 years. Look at it like this, it was a lousy election but it is a damned good opportunity to get rid of the lousy democratic party and replace it with a good third party. If Obama performs as badly as a lot of people think he will then it is syonaro socialist democratic party until the next traumatizing national event.

Thanks for posting about We Will Not Be Silenced. I really appreciate it. I produced it. I will never forget my partners taking 100s of copies of it to Denver, handing them to ANYONE they could (including Hillary herself) trying to show what Obama and the DNC did to her and make them boot Obama off the ballot. Then, the night before the phony “roll call” after days of ugly, hateful negotiating between the Obamas and Clintons, ending with that staged nonsense of Hillary stepping down. The night we all found out, all of the Hillary people went to a bar to commiserate. I couldn’t believe it was happening. I kept thinking…”wait, he cheated. Cheaters don’t WIN. So, the DNC will have to change this, right?” Yeah, right. Rep. Brad Sherman himself said “there was so much voter fraud in this election that we look like a Third World Country” in Denver to my partner. We tried but we couldn’t get him to say it on camera. Then we interviewed the delegates who were brutally threatened to abandon Hillary for Obama. They were scared to death. Can you imagine? In AMERICA? THE LAND OF THE FREE. The DNC is nothing but thugs and Obama is the worst of them. We tried to save Hillary but we were too naive to know what scum we were dealing with. It still haunts me. And the Obama win is even worse knowing every single FILTHY move that piece of crap made to get there, while my friends aided and abetted the FRAUD.

I understand your worries and dreams, as I was waking up at night worried about our country.

What is clear is the mobs are running our country under the title political parties. Two warring factions who are just as disgusting as the other. One mob goes out of power another stepping in. Only difference I guess is one party loves this country and the other doesn’t. Watching the American haters step into the White House is going to be a sad sad day in our history, and all the pods don’t even know it.

I am telling you guys, there is a plan for Mr. Obama. I said this about bush in the beginning and my friend thought i was crazy, but when I correctly predicted we would go to war in Iraq because of sadaam, she was astonished. This was before he got elected.

Obama is meant to bring American Imperalism to Africa. He is going to set up diplomatic relations with Africa to gain exclusive contracts over their mineral and oil resources. I am telling you this is the case. They will accomplish this by claiming their is terrorism in Africa. They will redeploy our troops over there and put in favorable regimes.

Since Obama is of African Decent and very popular over there, he will be welcomed with open arms.

Stop thinking of presidential installments as elections and more along the line of how can each canidate benefit america in terms of power and economic interest. You will find a reason in every instance.

My God there is such a nasty article about Sarah Palin on the ABC site what is wrong with these people, I really hope Palin comes out and answers them this time.

ABC is saying that lawyers are on their way to Alaska to find out about some money on credit cards and this clothes shopping spree.

What I find so difficult to understand here we have a Governor of Alaska that has her city running to the max, people happy getting their rebates, no one ever accused this woman of any kind of fraud, suddenly she comes to Washington and she becomes a thief??

  • Touchet

This was also the problem with Bush. He was too white, and they failed to capture the oil resources in the middle east because of the racial divide. This won’t be the case with Obama. He is just African enough to be able to relate and woo these people.

Think about it, just think about it.

  • lark

First of all, Grumpy is British, so he is musing about something he doesn’t know about one bit. It will be easy for him to return to the ‘old world’ and attach himself to the ‘new world.’

What used to be the ‘new world’ which we aptly label ‘Western culture’ is simply now turning old. In other words, we just peaked about at Y2K. The history of America is in lost civilizations. Mayans, Incas, Aztecs, and the American Indian culture. The first three were mostly south of parallel 19. What we called the ‘traditional American culture’ or the ‘we are number one’ is dying like Obama’s grandma was. It will be dead very soon.

If funny that Alaska came to the rescue of ‘traditional Americanism.’ Funny because 1st it could have rescued it. But more funny because after this experience it will not engage in that experiment again. Alaska will poise itself now to be like a fringe enclave to the ‘new world’ of Euro-Asian empire. Yes, funny, because Palin actually was mocked for saying that she could see Russia from her living room. Thus the Russians can see her and wave interested in what Alaska has to offer. Remember Alaska used to be Russian territory – or ‘new world.’

So look at it from the far far away place. Mayan, Incas, Aztecs, American Indians, U.S.A.; all extinguished and lost civilizations. Their decedents do live among us and are us.

How could Obama in Africa possibly be helpful to us? He supported and financed the horrible campaign of his cousin Odinga and promoted a lot of bloodshed by innocent people. Obama will never be valuable to this country, ever. Well, I take that back. I do believe the GOP must be thrilled to lose to HIM. Hillary would be a hard act to follow and would get the two terms. Obama is going to screw this up so badly that he and Obiden will be the gift to the GOP that keeps on giving. Once we get rid of the nasty freaks in Congress and get a normal person elected it will be years before another DNC thug and conman gets elected. Too bad that this might backfire on AAs. That would really suck.

bemused: to be confused; to be vexed by something; to concentrate very closely on something.
I prefer the latter definitions, of course. But whether O and W are similar in the way you describe, I see them as the same in that they have destructive agendas and so do their cronies. Think back to what happened to environmental issues at the start of W’s term. It was immediate pushback from enviro groups and the wrangling went on and on. This is the kind of fighting I am thinking about, stealth agendas. Incursion of liberties, we already have that. Time to look forward to the next SCOTUS appointments, now that Roe V. everything you just said was nothing but propaganda. I hope you realize that. You are exchanging one ideological propaganda for another. There is nothing new in that. They both reak of nationalistic propaganda. ONe says, “be proud America is the superpower and in controll”. I am a commoner, but for some reason, I seem to be immune to the invasion of the POD people. I couldn’t stand the sight of Obama almost from the first time I heard him open his mouth. [To any Obamabots reading this...I saw him before I heard him open his mouth].

My reaction on Election Night was to turn off the TV and go to sleep early. I knew what was going to happen. I’ve suspected what was going to happen since the hit job on Hillary became obvious.

I really don’t know what will happen next except that it will not be good. The best real clue minus all the nauseating verbiage from all of the nauseating politicians and commentators comes from Nancy Pelosi who was so thankful that this nation has such a leader as Barack Obama at this time. What is so special about Obama…clearly, his color and his religious ties and, I might add, his ruthlessness.

I’ll cut myself off here; it’s not good.

    Via ambinder:
    Rahm Accepts.. Also: Rouse, Gibbs
    From various transition sources:

After unusually public agonizing, Rep. Rahm Emanuel has accepted Barack Obama’s offer to be his chief office. One of his deputies will be Peter Rouse, formerly Obama’s Senate chief of staff.

And Robert Gibbs, the senior strategist, auditioned successfully for any number of spots; he has apparently settled on being White House press secretary.

Ha! The giant orange stupid and the whole of the liberal-shacko-sphere hates Emanuel. And Rouse was tom [works for bob dole's lobby shop] daschle’s cheif of staff. This is funny stuff.

A Known Misogynist for Treasury Secretary?

The MSM is widely reporting that President-Elect Obama is considering Larry Summer for the position of Treasury Secretary. We at The New Agenda say “No How, No Way!”

Who is Larry Summers? Summers is the ex-President of Harvard University who was forced out after publicly stating that women have a less intrinsic aptitude in math and science. The New Agenda wrote the following piece about Summers and his record on sexism and misogyny last month http://thenewagenda.net/2008/10/12/larry-summers-3-strikes-youre-out/

We issued a press release yesterday, and this morning, The Washington Post (http://voices.washingtonpost.com/the-trail/2008/11/06/clinton_supporters_not_hot_on.html) published an article detailing The New Agenda’s objections to Obama’s potential appointment of Summers.

Now it’s time for you, our members, to get involved. Please write to Valerie Jarrett vjarrett@barackobama.com , a senior advisor to Obama, and let her know how you feel. Tell Valerie that picking Larry Summers, a known sexist and misogynist, would be sending a message that women don’t matter. Tell Valerie that Obama should work towards parity in selecting qualified women for his cabinet.

A good, thought-provoking read is the book entitled The Alphabet vs. the Goddess by historian Leonard Shlain. It’s his theory about how civilization cycles between patriarchal societies and matriarchal societies.

It also makes me think of Robert Graves’ theory about Greek/Roman mythology–about how the myths arose as males began to overthrow a matrilineal society.

The cycles last a long, long time. Shlain recognizes the good and bad aspects of each type of society. Right now I feel I am in a total testosterone driven country.

    It’s annoying.

What is going on with the Republican Party inner circle and the media with their renewed bashing of Sarah Palin?

  • http://AmericasFavoriteTerrorist.com Gerard McNedich

Obama’s Favorite Holocaust Denier had this to say today:

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad today posted a congratulatory message to President-elect Barack Obama on his official website.

But his lengthy note also cautioned Obama to change America’s ways and to reverse policies based on what he described as “belligerency, occupation, bullying, demagoguery,” among other things.

It is part of Iran’s complicated response to the election of Obama, who has said he’d be willing to speak with Iran’s leadership, as detailed in a report written for today’s Los Angeles Times.

Ahmadinejad begins his note with the kind of flowery, somewhat overblown language typical in the Middle East:

I congratulate you on your success in mustering the majority of votes cast in the presidential elections. You know pretty well that the opportunities God grants to people he has created are short-lived, and they could either serve perfection of mankind and interests of nations or, God forbid, disserve nations. I hope that His Excellency will favor the genuine interests of people and justice over the never-ending demands of a selfish and fallible minority, so that you can seize on this chance in the best manner and leave behind a good legacy.

But he quickly gets down to the nitty-gritty, advising the freshman senator on what he must do to be an effective president.

Ahmadinejad writes that Obama must “overhaul” America’s domestic and foreign policies because the people of the world and U.S. expect it.

  • HC

Thought this was nice, some people still think:

    Dear XXXXX,

I share your hope that a black President will heal wounds. In particular, I hope his election will put paid to the industry of professional race
whiners — and it really is both a profession and an industry, with political careers and much money (such as that extorted by Rainbow Push
and Acorn, not only from business but also from Congress, aka middle class taxpayers, in the midst of the most dire financial crisis we have ever
    faced) at stake.

But as an historian, I fear the impact of rising expectations. They are almost always destabilizing and dividing, not healing and uniting. In
the next four to eight years, I anticipate more, not less, racial acrimony, as Obama’s hard-core supporters will probably turn on any resistance to his more ideologically charged policies (particularly redistribution of “wealthy” and middle class income to the poor minority population) that happens to be white, and scream “racism.”

    As for his promises:

He is on record as saying (though not to middle class America during an election campaign) that he does not support or respect the Constitution
    as
it is currently written, which is to say he really is not qualified to
take the oath of office. In whose interest will he try to revise it?

He is on record as saying (though again, not to middle class America
during an election campaign) that he wants the redistribution of income.
To whom? And for how long? Once? Annually? There is not enough money
    at
the top of the pyramid to be redistributed to everyone at the bottom on
    an
ongoing basis: he will have to go after the middle class, because that’s
    where the money is.

He is on record as saying he thinks this should be done through the
    Court.
If he trusted Middle America to make the decision, he would leave it to
the voters. The fact that he intends to involve the courts suggests to
    me
that he does not think Middle America will vote for it, which is to say,
they will not vote to immiserate themselves. If he does not trust the
majority of the electorate to do his will, then he must realize that he
wants done is not in the interest of Middle America.

He represented as a lawyer, and trained as an activist (oops, “community
organizer”), a dramatically radical cadre of agit-prop agents known as
Acorn, whose stated aim is to indoctrinate the youth vote on college
campuses and in public schools. Again, if he trusted Middle America, he
would not be turning youth against their elders. I have seen first-hand
the results on campus. These youngsters have no real idea what they
    voted
for, but they will follow their pied piper where he leads them.

Meanwhile, he scorns the “bitter clingers” of Middle America, with their
“pathetic” devotion to God and Christian values. He did not say this to
Middle America itself, but rather to a far-left audience in San Francisco.

I could go on, but I am too depressed.

My one hope is that America still has the genius to adapt and survive,
    and
throw the bums out. We have never been inclined to succumb to
    ideological
fads in the past. But once Obama gives amnesty, benefits, driver’s
licenses and voting rights to illegal immigrants, and imports more
immigrants from the Third World — all things he has promised, at various
times, to do — we will have a majority-minority electorate within a
national electorate that can nullify the middle class vote, particularly
in off-year Congressional elections that rarely elicit much middle class
attention, and guarantee the survival in office of Obama and his
    ideological cohort.

These are not happy thoughts. As an historian, however, I see the
long-term trends, from their beginning in the 1960s and 1970s to the
present day. Obama is no serendipitous, accidental, dark horse who
happened to win. He was groomed, muzzled, and stage managed by those who
had organized a campaign long ago in the media, in the demagogic fringes,
in the funding circles — George Soros chief among them — and chose
    their
candidate to fit. Hillary was all but drummed out of the race, urged to
surrender when she actually was winning. This not the behavior of a
party — or coalition of parties, some of which cannot advertise their
role but who played a vital part in the organization and implementation
    of
the campaign –that believes in the Constitution and trusts the wisdom of
    Middle America.

I also see the historical precedent, and consequence, of similar
    political
trends in Europe in years gone by. This pattern is not the future; it is
a blast from the past, and certainly not an oldie but goodie.

The real danger is that Obama will rubber-stamp a radical “Democratic”
Congress demanding “bipartisanship” on the order of a Popular Front.
These are not the Democrats of old; they are not Sam Nunn, Howard Baker,
or Scoop Jackson. They are Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Chris Dodd —
radicals and bitter partisans all, disdainful of the faith and values
    with
which they grew up. They have carried the Congress in a radical
direction, and will insist he bend to their will.

But again, Middle America may yet triumph — not because of Obama and his
crowd, but in spite of him.

The crucial phase will happen early on, during the so-called honeymoon,
when opposition will be browbeaten into submission, but precedents will
    be
set and groundwork laid for more dramatic “changes” to come.

I urge you to stand by your faith, your values, your principles — and
    watch your wallet.

    Love,
    XXXXX

My family has been permanently divided as a result of this travesty. This personal loss will resound in my heart long after the new corrupt administration is revealed.

I have an in-law dying of cancer and he voted O because he believed somewhere in the fine print O was going to give him good health care. He saw on an evening report that O said (after the election) that he is a “centrist” democrat and that it will take longer than his “first” term to get “there.” Just hours after voting O, my in-law was crippled with buyer’s remorse, shame and the understanding he would never get another chance to do it right.

Most of us will have another chance and we are going to have to rebuild our families, friendships and work associations as well as the political structure of our country.

We cannot become so lost in the rhetoric of hate that we are unable to find our way back. The people that I do hold responsible are the corporate, political powers that pulled this soft coup off and the individuals that will partake of spare bones thrown off the table.

I am going to turn off my cable as I can’t bear to listen to any more of the propagandist gloating and refuse to pretend that any of it is news.

I agree with others posting here that it is time to retire affirmative action. It has completed it’s trajectory; give blacks and other minorities jobs that they were not qualified for, all the way to the most important job in the land. Those of us who are less affluent have known the inequities and racial discrimination in these policies but the middle class has been negligent in caring about fairness for all citizens. Now that they will suffer as working and underclass whites have for decades I expect things to change.

I in no way support Jim Crow (as was inflicted upon GLBT’s in Ca by blacks in this election) or other racial inequalities. It’s time for federal jobs, scholarships, internships to be race, age and gender blind and based upon performance, experience and intelligence.

Thanks for lifting my spirits with your video, old grumpy and making today a little less difficult to get through.

  • lark

I am thinking about it, Touchet. I agree with you there. It sort of ties with some of my thinking but I never considered the part where the U.S.A. would actually act to take a part of the re-colonization of Africa. I gave Africa as a whole to Eur-Asia, beginning with a massive Chinese invasion.

Speaking of invasion. The problem with most of America’s twentieth Century was actually the colonization part. Americans invaded the Western territories, and then later Hawaii and Alaska (Palin) but have never gone to any territories south of parallel 19. For example, Puerto Rico, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, etc. Some people here even talk about Costa Rica once in a while.

There will not be any re-colonization of Africa by proxy or by remote control. Americans will actually have to pick up and go to Africa to settle whatever assets they would want to accomplish there.

One of the problems with the Iraq invasion is that we never picked up and moved to Iraq to make it an American territory. Neither Afghanistan.

What makes you believe that Americans will move to Africa to develop some industries there?

    What?

Grumpy, Dream analysts are quick to point out that nightmares about real people are often grossly misunderstood by the dreamer. The dreamer wakes thinking his/her psyche is confirming how terrible someone is. But almost always these dreams are messages from the psyche to the dreamer designed to illuminate the dreamer’s exaggerated, irrational fear of others.

Analysts will tell you that the healthy, self-aware interpretation of such nightmares is this: the dreams are warning us to stop treating other decent (perhaps flawed) people as monsters.

The nightmare is not about confirming our fears. Just the opposite. It is “designed” by the psyche to show us our out-of-balance reactions to others. Listening to our dreams in this way helps us keep our own hysteria in check.

This is probably the greatest speech Ronald Reagan ever gave.

It was given on 27 Oct 1964 on the campaign for Barry Goldwater.

It was called A Time for Choosing

It was a scathing calling out of the creeping Socialism of the Democrats (sound familiar?)

The losing of value of the Dollar

    The bankruptcy of Social Security

It was a rallying call to oppose Communism and Soviet Expansion.

This speech could be given today and be almost spot-on in context. The only thing missing is Islamic Terrorism.

    Here are some quotes

    Debt/Inflation

But I have an uncomfortable feeling that this prosperity isn’t something on which we can base our hopes for the future. No nation in history has ever survived a tax burden that reached a third of its national income. Today, 37 cents out of every dollar earned in this country is the tax collector’s share, and yet our government continues to spend 17 million dollars a day more than the government takes in. We haven’t balanced our budget 28 out of the last 34 years. We’ve raised our debt limit three times in the last twelve months, and now our national debt is one and a half times bigger than all the combined debts of all the nations of the world. We have 15 billion dollars in gold in our treasury; we don’t own an ounce. Foreign dollar claims are 27.3 billion dollars. And we’ve just had announced that the dollar of 1939 will now purchase 45 cents in its total value.

    Freedom – Liberty

Not too long ago, two friends of mine were talking to a Cuban refugee, a businessman who had escaped from Castro, and in the midst of his story one of my friends turned to the other and said, “We don’t know how lucky we are.” And the Cuban stopped and said, “How lucky you are? I had someplace to escape to.” And in that sentence he told us the entire story. If we lose freedom here, there’s no place to escape to. This is the last stand on earth.

  • JJR

Thanks Touchet for your insight. I will be looking our for signs of this to come true.

  • Liz B

Yeah, I agree. They are both pretty funny though.
I also like the Black guy for McCain, wish I could think of his name on YouTube. He is very cool. Anybody know who I am talking about?

  • http://home.comcast.net/~vincep312 VinceP1974

    From the same speech

America cannot surrender the fight to her enemies.

America must face the struggles in the world.

Notice the counter-arguments of others that he brings up. They are so similiar to those heard today.

Evil cannot be appeased without it evenually coming after to destroy you. We must be strong and resolute.

Those who would trade our freedom for the soup kitchen of the welfare state have told us they have a utopian solution of peace without victory. They call their policy “accommodation.” And they say if we’ll only avoid any direct confrontation with the enemy, he’ll forget his evil ways and learn to love us. All who oppose them are indicted as warmongers. They say we offer simple answers to complex problems. Well, perhaps there is a simple answer — not an easy answer — but simple: If you and I have the courage to tell our elected officials that we want our national policy based on what we know in our hearts is morally right.

We cannot buy our security, our freedom from the threat of the bomb by committing an immorality so great as saying to a billion human beings now enslaved behind the Iron Curtain, “Give up your dreams of freedom because to save our own skins, we’re willing to make a deal with your slave masters.” Alexander Hamilton said, “A nation which can prefer disgrace to danger is prepared for a master, and deserves one.” Now let’s set the record straight. There’s no argument over the choice between peace and war, but there’s only one guaranteed way you can have peace — and you can have it in the next second — surrender.

Admittedly, there’s a risk in any course we follow other than this, but every lesson of history tells us that the greater risk lies in appeasement, and this is the specter our well-meaning liberal friends refuse to face — that their policy of accommodation is appeasement, and it gives no choice between peace and war, only between fight or surrender. If we continue to accommodate, continue to back and retreat, eventually we have to face the final demand — the ultimatum. And what then — when Nikita Khrushchev has told his people he knows what our answer will be? He has told them that we’re retreating under the pressure of the Cold War, and someday when the time comes to deliver the final ultimatum, our surrender will be voluntary, because by that time we will have been weakened from within spiritually, morally, and economically. He believes this because from our side he’s heard voices pleading for “peace at any price” or “better Red than dead,” or as one commentator put it, he’d rather “live on his knees than die on his feet.” And therein lies the road to war, because those voices don’t speak for the rest of us.

You and I know and do not believe that life is so dear and peace so sweet as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery. If nothing in life is worth dying for, when did this begin — just in the face of this enemy? Or should Moses have told the children of Israel to live in slavery under the pharaohs? Should Christ have refused the cross? Should the patriots at Concord Bridge have thrown down their guns and refused to fire the shot heard ’round the world? The martyrs of history were not fools, and our honored dead who gave their lives to stop the advance of the Nazis didn’t die in vain. Where, then, is the road to peace? Well it’s a simple answer after all.

You and I have the courage to say to our enemies, “There is a price we will not pay.” “There is a point beyond which they must not advance.” And this — this is the meaning in the phrase of Barry Goldwater’s “peace through strength.” Winston Churchill said, “The destiny of man is not measured by material computations. When great forces are on the move in the world, we learn we’re spirits — not animals.” And he said, “There’s something going on in time and space, and beyond time and space, which, whether we like it or not, spells duty.”

You and I have a rendezvous with destiny.

We’ll preserve for our children this, the last best hope of man on earth, or we’ll sentence them to take the last step into a thousand years of darkness.
We will keep in mind and remember that Barry Goldwater has faith in us. He has faith that you and I have the ability and the dignity and the right to make our own decisions and determine our own destiny.

    Thank you very much.

Obama will be on the side of the Odingas, Mugabes, and Mbekis, who have devastated once prosperous, beautiful nations. Zimbabwe was the breadbasket of Africa…now it’s in famine. South Africa has descended into street violence and chaos. And Kenyans are traumatized and I would guess extremely fearful for their futures.

Obama will not be on the side of right in Africa, and sending military members into combat always gets thousands of them killed. Period.

  • DAB

I believe subconsciously that many Republicans really didn’t want to win this election because they knew what a tough road it would be for them — especially with a Democratic congress.
Better to lie low right now and let the Dems struggle with this mess. At the two-year mark, they will probably stage some sort of limited comeback and hope that the Presidency will be theirs in 2012.

I like you though despise the Dems but usually find the Republicans unacceptable too, especially if they decide to go their old Newt Gingrichy way again. McCain made it palatable and I personally liked Palin. I thought that despite her conservative beliefs, she had shown herself to be a pragmatic and inclusive Governor. If the Repubs pick someone really far right, I truly will have no place to go except a third party.

  • andrew191

“Invasion of the Body Snatchers”? LOL. I wish I had thought of that. No wait, I did, and I posted it on this site four days ago. Maybe I’m just suffering an episode of deja-vu.

  • RepublicanPUMA!

RepublicanPUMA. Yeah, baby! I am in. We Conservatives are hoping the Rockefeller wing of the party is finally imploding.

I have been reading on this site because I found it fascinating that there are Democrats/Independents who recognize what the media was doing. Frankly I thought it was only we Reagan Republicans that could see the rampant corruption in both Parties and the complicit media. I see many principles we agree on. Can we identify and unite under a common movement? I am enjoying http://www.americansolutions.com. Newt really wants to unite us under common principles.

  • Woodhull

Well, that’s exactly the point though. It would be something that is so innocuous (no I don’t think the international sign for “null” will work–too obvious, right?) that no one would have a clue that it means a damn thing.

Thanks for the lastest of your always outstanding, always funny video’s, OGG. I liked the part about having to listen to nothing but rap and Obama messages. I thought they were already doing that here in the DC Area. they call it the radio. Used to have other music, and there was a time not so long ago, even as late as December 2007, when you could find something else. Now we have a classical, a country, a rock and a Christian station and then 45 stations with rap, hip hop and Obama…it’s a wonder there aren’t more accidents on the highways.

I’m an executive recruiter, though I don’t work in education I can tell you for a fact that even in hard-to-fill positions in high- and biotech, women are slower to promote, take lower salaries and work about 3 times harder for recognition. When it was evident that I would not be able to vote in the Primary here in Florida, my out-of-state adult children thought that was just fine and didn’t understand why I would be upset about it. That really hurt and since then I have avoided any political discussion with them — just saying that I wasn’t interested or didn’t want to talk about it.

A day before the election, I received a call from my eldest son about another matter but he managed to slip in his “did you vote yet?” comment. When I lied that I hadn’t he began to recite some recognizable Obama talking points that appeared on Daily Kos re: how to convince others to vote for That One. He told me he understood how Hillary’s treatment was sexist etc. and that even the Dems were not perfect they were better than the Repubs. I never let on that I knew where he got his script and just got off the phone asap.

I really feel for those who have significant others who disagree with them on this point — I can only imagine how stressful that would be.

    LOL to you all!

  • Idiocracy08

I would maybe rethink this with your fiancee. Not because he likes Obama or anything like that, but he doesn’t sound too respectful of your feelings – if he doesn’t agree with you.

I hope I’m wrong, and I am sorry for making a judgement from just a couple of sentences. But from my experience, if they don’t respect your opinions from the beginning, it will only get worse in the end.

  • NetherLands

Been thinking about that too. I may be totally off on this but what happens if Biden becomes president (say because turns out BO was at a time Indonesian)? He gets to select (without the electorate having a say in it) a new VP. Perhaps HRC hopes he’ll pick her.

  • Zeke

I’m posting this way after you guys wrote but hope you slide back and find this.
There are, in my mind, crucial “moral compass” issues involved when considering spending the rest of your life with someone. We, as a group here, although terribly different in so many, many ways, have a common “North.”
It is the ability to discern evil intent.
We all came together here to fight because, like all those folks in “Close Encounters” something inside us all told us what was right.
I humbly ask anyone who is making a life decision as important as marriage to strongly consider the parts of a person’s personality which must exist in order for someone to believe in Obama.
They cannot have any understanding of government as they would have rightly blamed Congress, the guys who wrote the bailout check for the economy rather than the president. It is always the case that the president only signs the checks, he never writes them.
Obots can’t see lies. Or, upon hearing one from the Leader, willingly and KNOWINGLY believe it.
Obama’s victory is to many, many people Vengeance.
Is someone who digs vengeance a person you want to live with?
My point is that I firmly believe that to follow Barack Obama requires that you consciously surrender your own moral compass. Its like selling your soul to the devil. You gotta sign the paper, even if the contract is only inside your head.
To know Obama the way we do is to know Evil. There is no other word for it. The Dark Side is all about Obama.
Lies, more lies, damned lies, and then malice are his stock in trade. These things WE know and they willingly overlook.
Think hard about what it takes to support a man we are convinced has never told the truth in his life.
    regards

  • Goblintrain

I don’t think that has anything to do with it. I believe there are forces operating against these people that we know nothing about. I find it scary. I know Bill Clinton is a fighter and he was fighting mad about the treatment of his wife.

What is truly sad is that either John McCain couldn’t have run with John Kerry in 2004 and formed a new coalition, or Hillary couldn’t have run with McCain this year, even if they had to run on an Independent ticket. I think they would have won. Half the Democrats voted Obama by default or didn’t vote. I just believe that would have been an unstoppable ticket. If Hillary tries to run in the future, the same thing will happen to her that happened to John McCain. The Democrats will never let her be a power in the Party again.

The Democrats had the same strategy. That’s how we know Barky is Bush III. Find a group of disgruntled swing voters and promise them the moon: blacks and illegal hispanics. Divide your own party and then trust that they are so partisan they won’t vote for the opposition. It’s worked in three elections now.

I had a “pod person” experience myself. My youngest son was an “undecided” then claimed he was coming out for McCain but ultimately voted for Barack Obama. Yesterday, I rec’vd a flurry of emails from him, all of which were trying to convince me that he was right and I was wrong. I even had a folowup telephone call where he explained to “dear old Mom” why spreading the wealth was a good idea. The words could have been taken out of the Obama playbook–the haves and the have nots, the need to equalize the riches of the country. Otherwise? Revolution was right around the corner.

When I didn’t budge, he said I sounded like my mother, implying that I was a bitter, old woman like Nana.

Needless to say, this was not a pleasant exchange. We ended by calling a truce, agreeing to disagree.

I hope I’m wrong about Obama and he turns out to be far better in the job than I expect. If not, the pod people [like those disgruntled campaign workers] will snap out of their trance.

    And that won’t be pretty!

All right, I will offer a suggestion. The secret sign will have to involve several different components, like red socks, silver pinky ring, hair parted right. Things that are unrelated. If you have one symbol it gives it all away at once. Someone who starts the ball rolling gives this info orally to trusted friends, they to their friends, etc. Soon as their acquaintance circles intersect, you will find new friends and then a lack of them. The “seed,” the person who started this, has only so many branches. Best maybe to start with several seeds. This must never be written down not even in email or text or graffiti. At best it will stay a secret until a surprisingly small number of people know about it, because people can’t help but gossip and boast. :)

You’re very talented, please keep your talent here. There will be plenty for you to expose about BO. Please stay, we need you!!!!

    Let us hope so.

You are not alone. Many, if not most of us, have worked ourselves to the end of our limits to try and get the truth out, circumvent the insane, moronic “news” networks, and let the American people what they are really facing. We are all tired now, but we will NEVER give up. People as fundamentally BAD as Obama will, in the end, self destruct, and usually sooner than later.

And so, we stick together, support our mutual efforts, and watch and wait. It will happen. We will be vindicated. But more importantly, we will eventually succeed in our efforts to get the truth out, reform a corrupted media and an even more corrupted political process and get the America we know and love back.

My father did not get himself shot out of a B-17 so that we could lose our vote; my friend did not just leave for Iraq for his 4th tour so we could suffer a coup and end up in a totalitarian government. We must continue to work hard, never give up, and see this mission through to success, no matter how long it takes. We are together in solidarity and they surely cannot kill us all.

Maybe you should think about joining Aryan Nation

    Zeke,
Honestly it will be ok. I agree for the most part with your description of Obama and I believe he has perfect partners in the Dem congress but it will be ok. If they do what they are planning the economy will implode and they will be swept out the door like after 4 years of Carter and just 2 years of the liberal incarnation of Clinton (Repubs took control of congress for the first time in something like 40 years).

If you are putting your hope in a resurgent Dem party your out of luck but if Obie does what he says the Repubs will be back with a vengence with Sarahcuda out front. It will be bye-bye to Nancy, Barnie, Harry and the rest of the half wits.

What are you reading?? Haven’t seen one person “wishing him the best”. These are a bunch of hystrionic, angry, bitter people. It is dangerously bitter. No one her wantas anything but the worst for this president….just read for yourself.

Thanks Grumpy. I feel your pain. I have several close friends who are now Pods. Needless to say we haven’t spoken much in the last couple of weeks. You and all of the writers at NQ have provided a sanctuary for the small band of Americans resisting and denouncing the Koolaid addiction, and bleary-eyed zombie-like and hostile-at-the-same time condition that the addiction causes.

Thanks to all of you, and we’re here for you too.

The presidency? There will only be one token woman in Obama’s cabinet and none will even be mentioned for the Supreme Court — not qualified, you know. Nothing changes for the women except for the worse.

  • amanda_tx

Apparently the way the media covers women candidates has remained the same since 1884.

hummm, no I think it’s far worse than ever. the media needs to fall from a high horse on its pointy little head.

You must, we must, keep on fighting, and maybe more important than fighting we need to find ways to transcend the rhetoric. Truly this is how Obama won, of course also with lots and lots of $$, but also by using language and ideas to shape opinion. I think we need to all learn better how to talk to each other, especially when we dont agree. I find it very hard, just get too angry over all this.
But I really really hear you about feeling so alone, everyone I know in my life, with ONE exception, is an Obamatron. That is a lonely feeling to be so out of touch with everyone around you. So thank you fellow PUMA’s and NQ’ers for giving me some sense of community still.

    Beautifully stated. Thank you.

I am afraid for my husband, who is in the Navy

I am sending good thoughts his way…

will never fully understand how this fraud got elected.

    Ditto. Ditto. Ditto.

I am afraid for our financial future. I am tense, irritable, and am unable to focus on anything. I am clearly having a physical reaction to the results of this election.

You are not alone, not by any means…

We, as a group here, although terribly different in so many, many ways, have a common “North.”
It is the ability to discern evil intent.

In response to a previous comment (Woodhull)on this thread, I think that your common denomenator of a “common north” is perfectly stated. Our “secret symbol” (previous post idea) should be a compass pointing north, or something to that extent.

I posted this response in a following comment from this thread (please see as the original quote came from poster named Zeke) as well as here:

From this election I became a better citizen it opened my eyes how bias the MSM can be without viewing the facts. The election made me a better person because I became tolerant and accepting of Republicans and Conservatives with their opposing political views. On a human level I could empathize with them as being a victim of attacks by my fellow liberal Democrats. I no longer viewed my party having the moral high ground and discovered we all want (Dem,Rep and Indep) is the same for our country but we have chosen different paths to reach our goals. Ironically it was negativity of Obama campaign and the lack of civility of his supporters that created my positive perspective of America that Obama inspires in others. For the sake of my beloved country and for hopes and dreams of those who believe, I truly want Obama to succeed. To witness the alternative and the disappointment will be too painlfully devastating and not worth any pleasure to prove we were right.
