Scooter Headin’ to the Slammer

The Bureau of Prisons will decide when and where Mr. Libby will be “housed.” Judge Walton denied him bail during his appeals. Jeffrey Toobin is questioning the ruling on CNN. Firedoglake’s in-court bloggers quote Judge Walton: “He is not a flight risk or danger to the community, but I don’t see the issues raised as close, so I deny his request to be released pending appeal. I will allow him to self report, but unless I am overruled, he will have to report.” (I’ve been on the phone so please add any more information you’ve gotten in the comments.)

The Washington Post says he’ll head to prison “within weeks.” (Full story.) UPDATE: Leslie recommends ThinkProgress blog’s coverage and updates. TP’s latest update: “AP reports that Libby’s lawyers “will seek an emergency order delaying the sentence.”

Here’s what I’ve heard so far to augment your post Susan:

Libby will probably have to report to prison within 6 to 8 weeks, according to ThinkProgress.org. Firedoglake.com is live blogging the courtroom.

No prison has been selected yet–it’s up to the US Bureau of Prisons to decide that.

Will Bush pardon Libby? John Dean, in a findlaw.com article, argued that that might be against the law following similar attempts by Nixon.

1 criminal and liar down, at least several hundred or so more to go.

  • Fred C. Dobbs

Headed for the nightmare that is Allenwood? Has he had an Advice Download from Egil “Bud” Krogh? Will Barbara Walters interview him by phone?

    Inquiring minds want to know…

  • Leslie

Oh, and from Think Progress, Judge Walton has been receiving threats against himself and his family. Geez.

  • Fred C. Dobbs

Not a source I’d usually cite, but I found this article interesting.

    Leslie, that’s terrible.

I read the other day — gosh, where was it — that Judge Walton is a REPUBLICAN and one of Bush’s FIRST judicial appointments.

Bush selected Walton because he’s a tough law-and-order type. Bet Georgie never imagined that one of his own would be in Walton’s courtroom one day.

  • anon

He’ll go to jail for a little while.

    Fred,
If I had to name reasons why Wolfie wasn’t qualified to head the CIA, being a womanizer wouldn’t be one of them. At the top, would probably be: unqualified war-mongering a**hole. :-)

    Susan,
Yeah, I read that too. Loyalty is everything in Bushworld, honesty and integrity are worthless.

I bet the Federalist Society mafia on the Appeals Court springs him.

One of the more disturbing aspects of Bush’s efforts to build a fascist State has been the acquiesence of a certain “activist” and partisan part of the legal profession.

I think we are about to see some made guys in the Federalist Society mafia emerge, to further the Bush-Cheney-Libby conspiracy to obstruct justice.

Packing the courts with political party lackeys was part of the “Plan” – do you wonder why Harriet was NEEDED in place in the Supreme Court – the DOJ is DOA on GOP so WTF why not the SC? . . . ‘course I could be wrong, and America REALLY needed the brilliant judicial minds and experience Gonzales and Meyers brought to Washington . . . Scooter, grasping his soap-on-a-rope cries out “Mom, mom, it’s not right!!!”

  • Fred C. Dobbs

Still awaiting a manifestation or sign of action from Mrs. Scooter, who so famously said, “We’re going to f**k them,” in the gallery at trial.

Who does she mean? The MSM? Scooter’s Republican masters? Judge Walton?

Does Scooter have a tell-all book deal in place already?

I still think he’ll be Gordon Liddy Redux. Hood ornament / stalking horse / eminence grise / go-to guy for the Heritage Foundation and/or Enterprise Institute and future director of Mellon Bank. Probably have his own studio next to Laura Ingraham.

The pressure for the pardon is ON!

Fred C Dobbs writes: “Headed for the nightmare that is Allenwood?”

Worse than you think, Dobbsy. There’s cracks in the tennis courts, and the cook can’t even make a proper white sauce.

  • Patrick Henry

    Fred & Chris..

Just think of all the Job opportunitys and challenges for a guy like Libby..in Allenwood..

    form a Neo~Con (vict)Coalition..Head the Grievance Committee..become a Lobbyist..File Petitions for Cnvict Voting Rights..
( an xtra 2 million votes that can swing the next election) and work with Rove on getting voting rights for Illegal ALIENSs in the United states..(another 12 Million Votes..) …

So what if the cook can’t make a decent WHITE Sauce..

The Neo Cons couldn’t do it either..

The Inmates want new Golf Carts .. Designer Tattoo’s..and Catering..

Depending on the Results..Its either Cool Hand Luke Libby…or

    KING RAT..
