Cry, Baby, Cry

For the past few days, my phone has been buzzing with calls from devastated volunteers and celebrating friends. In the accelerated world of the blogosphere, writers have begun to rationalize the demographics of the vote and to anticipate the future.

Important new groups like The New Agenda have raised significant concerns about the Obama administration potentially selecting economist Larry Summers, the former president of Harvard as Secretary of Treasury. Summers resigned from Harvard in the wake of a controversy in which he suggested that women received promotion at a lesser rate in the sciences because they were less qualified. Lynette Long has started a cabinet watch to encourage Obama to appoint women to 50 percent of the positions.

Wouldn’t that be a great thing and real change?

All of this is good and necessary work. I am grateful that others are doing it because I am just not there yet. I will get there again I am sure but I am not there now.

After months of working to promote Hillary Clinton and fair and open elections, after months of examining the issues and making a conscientious and principled decision to move over to McCain, after months of traveling the country, I am not there yet.

I am exhausted and it is an exhaustion that goes far beyond the physical. It is an exhaustion that permeates my emotional and psychic core. For me, as well as many others, it is tied to the death of a dream.

The dream that we would have a woman president in my life time.

The dream that Hillary Clinton might break from the party, demand justice and a free election and that she would be heard.

The dream that women would act in their best interests.

The dream that men would support women.

The dream that people become journalists because of an aptitude and desire for investigative reporting and passionate commitment to truth.

The dream that the American people would not be seduced by mass media.

The dream that deep friendships would endure over differences of opinion.

The dream that a concern with sexism would share equal space with a concern with racism.

The dream that people would keep their word and that patriotism and honor would prevail.

The dream that if we just worked hard enough, even if we were outspent seven to one and out staffed by far more than that, we would win because we were right.

My dreams have been shattered.

Perhaps they were naïve. But they were real to me and shared by many, many others. Hopefully, some of those dreams can come true in the future. As we can see, there are people and groups who are already working to realize them and they welcome others to join them in these significant efforts.

But I am not there yet. Because with the loss of my dreams, of our dreams, is a kind of death.

And when death comes, one must mourn.

In the Jewish tradition, when there has been a death of the family, one sits Shiva for seven days. The mirrors are draped in black to avoid consideration of appearances and business is suspended. Neighbors, friends and family stop by with trays of food and to talk about the departed loved one because there is no more important business than acknowledging the death of that person, and what was lost as well as what remains.

And so it is with us. Maybe we won’t drill, baby, drill. But we can cry, baby, cry and acknowledge the gut wrenching pain of what it means to have our dreams shattered. And especially how it feels to not be able to openly, joyfully celebrate this breakthrough historic presidency as well as the much anticipated end of the Bush administration because it was not come by honestly.

Ironically, the same technology that helped drive the election for Obama has also been our friend throughout this election season as we write and become allies through our exchanges with people we may never have met.

I encourage people to reach out, to talk and share their feelings in whatever ways they can. Across the blogs and airwaves. On the phone and in person. I encourage them to not skip past this crucial stage of grieving for the loss of our dreams.

For many of us, it is only through going to the rock bottom of our pain that we can make space to empty out and thus, reenergize for our shared battles to come.

Cry, baby, cry.

Thanks for this wonderful post. You made me feel like I might actually still possess my faculties. I have been crying every day since the worst happened. And I have to live in CA where the joy is insane and I am the lone one feeling this way. Good to know I can cry in great company and not think I belong in the banana bin.

“…to encourage Obama to appoint women to 50 percent of the positions.

Wouldn’t that be a great thing and real change?”

No, that would be reverse sexism just as we are complaining about reverse racism being used by blacks and any Obama supporters calling us racist yet blacks aren’t racist (apparently) for voting for the half-black guy.

I don’t want or demand or expect “50% women appointed” .. how about just the best person for the job, no matter their gender, color, political preference or shoe size ?

Sexism and racism and fraud and bias were used to give the nomination and then the presidency to Obambi.

It’s over.. now let’s get the best damn administration possible to fix the gigantic mess this country has been left in by the Bush administration.

Thank you for putting into words exactly how I feel.

Obama will NOT be put into power. Watch the drama unfold. He has to prove he’s a natural born citizen by December 1. The 1st Meeting of Electorates is December 15. Congress meets on January 6, 2009 to ratify the certificates of the Electorate. They can not ratify an unconstitutionally ineligible President Elect. By the time this case plays out, they will illigitimize Obama’s candidicy for President – he an his ticket will be disqualified — We The People will Uphold the Constitution of the United States and will not inaugurate a foreign born President!

see: http://www.obamacrimes.com for the most recent update on the Supreme Court status.

  • lazy Maverick

Agreed. The President shouldn’t have to pick a woman for a cabinet position just to fill quotas.
There will always be racism and sexism. The only way to lessen it is to teach our younger generation that it is not right. The older generation that thinks these things are okay will eventually die off…

  • C.S.

After almost a decade of the Bush administration we all know that it isn’t over – it’s just beginning. And change comes through perseverance – our Founding Fathers knew that. Our duty isn’t to prop up Soertoro/Obama’s limp try at leadership; it’s to take back control of our democracy.

And as far as getting “the best damn administration possible to fix the gigantic mess”, it’s too late unless you can “fix” this new gigantic mess before December 15, because it seems Soertoro/Obama’s top priority is picking a White House dog!

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/tristkiss trist

From the beginning of this election in conversations with my Bro. he consistently said he doubted either Hillary or Obama could win, as he didn’t feel a country who’s only known white men as leaders of it would be ready to see something different. I never felt that way, I did believe people would be willing to vote for someone who looked different. All I asked was that they ALSO vote for someone who is the best choice.

Well after the election we talked and it was almost forgotten, what he said, about not believing someone different could get in until he saw it. But I did remark to him, that this proved to him the country WOULD vote for something other than another white male. I said you must be happy about that. He wasn’t. He was not rooting for either Obama or McCain, he wanted Hillary.

So now here we are, and I too, as a black American was denied celebrating this “victory” for us, because I can’t ignore how it came about. I can find one small note of gladness that the American people were able to allow someone else a shot at leading, but there is no honor in “winning” this way.

When people say they wanted the first black Pres. what they mean is they wanted the first black male Pres. no matter who was more qualified, who actually proved through their record they were willing to put the country first over their own ambitions, and no matter how much cheating it would take to achieve their goal. They were going to have him no matter what.

And now, after witnessing what I have, I am in the boat my Bro. was in. Though I want to, I can’t believe this country is willing to see a woman lead it, until and unless it actually happens. But I doubt that I will.

  • http://www.wewillnotbesilenced2008.com OBAMA IS A FRAUD

I wish this would be true. But can you imagine the race riots if this happened? In all fairness and legality Obama doesn’t belong here unless and until he proves he deserves it. But WHO is going to have the ballz to uphold the Constitution? It seems that no matter what criminal acts Obama commits, like OJ, he just flips America the finger and gets away with it. The only way this works is if WE THE PEOPLE can get enough attention that the MSM has to do something truthful for once.

  • Lizzy

I’m angry. We’ve been subjected to Bush for the past eight years with no redress. Now it seems we will have even less consideration from an Obama administration. At least Bush concealed his sexism. The Big O seems to think we are here only to worship him.

  • http://firefox AnnieCollier

The problem is that it appears that women aren’t even being interviewed along with men.

As my old grandmother admonished: “Never believe a man except through his actions because that’s where you’ll see his truth.” Check. Got it. From that standard then I’d say he’s a low down, lyin’, cheatin’, vote stealin’, empty promise makin’, inexperienced-over-his-head, arrogant, phony, egotistical, woman hater.

Already his arrogance is in his way…demanding that GWB carry out his orders to pass a stimulus package before he gets into office. In other words, everyone else does my bidding (he’s deluded that he’s already in charge) George, so now that Hillary is no longer empowered, you can carry water for me. Inappropriate and left hanging in the ether, he decides to rethink all that, and decided to ask nicely. What a horrible fraud. He’ll have to do everything twice at least. Once for ego satisfaction, then when that doesn’t go over, he’ll try to find the right tact. Inauthentic fool.

  • http://firefox AnnieCollier

Two days in front of the public sans teleprompter and two flubs. Mocking a 90 year old woman and making demands, behaving as if he’s already in office. Yeah, I know he practiced all during the campaign but he was just play acting then. Someone needs to tell him that GWB is still President and he is still the pretender to the throne.

  • sowsear

    you said it Anne,
From that standard then I’d say he’s a low down, lyin’, cheatin’, vote stealin’, empty promise makin’, inexperienced-over-his-head, arrogant, phony, egotistical, woman hater.

  • C.S.

You are right. A dishonest “win” is not a victory, it is a defeat because everyone knows it was not yours. Just like those Olympic “winners” whose gold medals were taken away for cheating and their records expunged from history so, too, will U. S. “presidents” who have been selected instead of elected.

  • Betty Lou

Obama’s camp has said they intend to be on permanent campaign mode, just like Bush, and Rove and Cheney.

(Which pretty much tells us they don’t get it, right out of the box).

Given their campaign relied on Alinsky type methods, and cultural divisions, I wouldn’t expect anything different from his presidency, meaning they’ll be looking for ways to piss people off, just like Rove, old, old hat — set ‘em up, knock ‘em down.

Don’t give it a second thought, it’s so OLD, and prosaic, in terms of technique, it’s really ineffective.

The book “the shock doctrine” by Naomi Klein, explains this type of strategic politic, such as it is, I look for the same from Obama as from Bush, given his campaign, and his embrace of Rove.

Same old shit, nothing new, careful not to bite.

    LOL

If you think you’re heartbroken, just imagine what it feels like to be a Hillary supporting LGBT person. We just watched as minorities we have fought for voted to take away our rights.

It’s not just you, Joan Of Art.

We have just witnessed TWICE in one year two of the most qualified, capable candidates being passed over for a glorified, inexperienced, slimy shell of a candidate.

One because she had the “misfortune” of being born a woman.

The other because he had decent principles (and chose a principled woman as his running mate.)

Most Americans always give lip service to wanting at the very least halfway decent politicians. But they’re really just full of s— though. They very seldom vote for these politicians. They usually vote for the known scumbags. Then got the damn nerve to complain about them going gutter after they elect them.

Be braced for this same BS pattern to surface in the following four years among your fellow Kool-Aid drinkers in your inner circles.

I don’t want to hear one f—— complaint from ANY Kool-Aid drinkers about their “messiah.” I might be inclined to slap one of them in the face if they come complaining.

  • McHope

We already know his behavior toward women. A token appointment can’t change that.

  • WasLNbutNoBamaBotsKeepStealingMyName

No, I respectfully disagree..as much as I hate to say it, .it will never happen. The election is over and the Supremes will go meekly into the night. He will be crowned on Jan. 20th.

They won’t be complaining, they’ll just be pointing the finger of blame on the Republicans while this administration gets nothing done. Obama can’t stand tall and do any hard or unpleasant things as he will immediately be campaigning for 2012.

Campaigning, the new style of governing.

  • Newly Independent

You said a mouthful. The plain bottom line.

  • Mr. X

This NOT true. I wish people would stop posting this. Only if the case is sent back to the lower courts does Obama have to show his BC. The response on Dec 1 is for Obama to counter Berg’s motion. No BC will be shown, and in fact, none CAN be shown because you cannot go to the Supreme Court with new evidence.

  • OBushMa

50% women in the Cabinet… I think that would take a true progressive and visionary President who didn’t trample on more than one female rivals to get where he is. His discomfort with women will be evident for the next four years. It will be painful to watch.

  • McHope

They will be incapable of complaining, unless they are deprogrammed.

  • Betty Lou

Well, why do you think they did that?

Mostly, they’re ignorant, and frightened, right, like their anglo counterparts (actually, Christian right wing, where I live).

Just like you and me, at times, so really, it’s best to approach it like MLK, as opposed to embracing the Rush Limbaugh persecuted, enraged bitterness, I mean, those people crashed and burned, and they can’t even see it.

  • Betty Lou

Expect it , he will go out of his way to diminish women, from his hire of the crazy Larry Summers, to another chorus of “99 problems but not that bitch,” meaning, for some insane reason, a rap zeitgeist in the White House — that’s really not a good thing, they are being mocked, already.

But if he doesn’t, I will be very surprised, and happy.

    I’m not banking on it…

  • BerlinBerlin

    I gave that hope up.

  • jbjd

This is wonderful. And as for the suggestion your high hopes signal you are naive… Expecting the best from people is never naive. In this case, there were just too many forces acting against an honorable outcome. (I am still working on forestalling a vote for this impostor by the electoral college.)

  • WasLNbutNoBamaBotsKeepStealingMyName

I was an ardent Hillary supporter as well, but don’t forget that Hillary did not support the idea of L&G marriage. She had the same stance on that as did BO.

Everyone seems to think that BO was the only candidate to vote for but actually his stance on gay and lesbian marriage was the same as John McCain’s. He led folks to believe that he (BO) would support them, but then, as usual, sold them down the river.

  • WasLNbutNoBamaBotsKeepStealingMyName

I’m sure that even now, right this very minute, BO is hard at work plotting his re-election. In fact, I would take that to the bank. His machine is so powerful and so well-funded, that I shudder what will happen to anyone who tries to oppose him.

As for the Clintons (who I love and respect), they are political toast.

“Palin’s tone may have encouraged white supremacists”

And the rest is even worse.

  • Joe The Citizen

The Obama campaign has ordered it. They are paying reporters to continue attacks on Gov. Palin.

    1. This distracts the media so they do not follow up on Obama’s terrorist connections. 9-11 part 2 is underway.
    Destroy Capitalism from within.

    2. She spoke the truth and that is dangerous to the plan.

    3. Gov. Palin gets higher TV ratings than Sen. Obama. That’s unacceptable.

    4. Alaska has oil. Guess who wants control?

Let them attack. We are not distracted. Obama’s crimes will come out. Everyone isn’t gullible, thank goodness!

“…to encourage Obama to appoint women to 50 percent of the positions.

Wouldn’t that be a great thing and real change?”

Not from a candidacy that rode high on misogyny and sexism. It would be meaningless — just as meaningless as citing Pelosi’s presence as proof of “equality.”

  • http://deleted Buzz Latte

Frankly, a little karmic justice would be appropriate here.

  • Betty Lou

Shame, about the Clintons, but until he understands he really isn’t in control, not really king, he will, most likely, treat them badly.

I was thinking the one man Obama could turn to would be Bill, there are singular experiences Presidents share, things only THEY feel, and know, and Bill could help Obama cope.

Too bad they went out of their way to burn that bridge, again, they haven’t a fucking clue as to what he’s in for, making their silly little tactics look nothing more than the script kiddie prattle they are…

From another source, I would say your comment sounds like it could emanate from that same fruit of Jesus, the script kiddie…

  • tampagurl

    How about this?

The attacks provoked a near lynch mob atmosphere at her rallies, with supporters yelling “terrorist” and “kill him” until the McCain campaign ordered her to tone down the rhetoric.

And then Michelle was suppose to have said “Why do they want people to hate us”?

Have you ever heard such a load of crap in your life?

Yes, I’m no bot…and I grieved as much as anyone over Hillary’s primary victory being stolen. It’s just that I think that BO used her and Bill to get him over the finish line and now he will be sure to set things up so that they can never have any political power again.

BO wants all the glory for his narcissistic self…

  • WasLNbutNoBamaBotsKeepStealingMyName

Yes, and speaking of that, I’m wondering if BO will offer Hill some sort of position that will remove her from the Senate, so they can get someone in that NY seat more to BO’s liking?

Okay, I am attempting to focus before I finish this post. Alright..

Why does Hamas want to sit down and negotiate with Obama? Fox news has a piece up. But when I read Obama’s response I almost punched a damn hole in the wall:

President-elect Obama said throughout the campaign that he will only talk with Hamas if it renounces terrorism, recognizes Israel’s right to exist and agrees to abide by past agreements,” McDonough said.

Since the 4th, third world leaders have crawled out and daily some kind of demand or statement is made. But no, not just Hamas this shit had me seeing red:

Abu Omar al-Baghdadi, leader of the Islamic State of Iraq, said that the election of Barack Obama represented a victory for radical Islamic groups.

WTF? How long will we have to listen to this shit?

  • Ani

    Joan, fabulous post.

But here’s one we need to add:

The dream of women supporting women.

We are the majority in this country and yet, many still vote against their own interests and vote for people who disrespect and abuse them.

If Hillary had higher female support in the primary — even the DNC fix would not have worked. Considering she is 10 times more qualified than Obama, you would think that might have made a difference to them.

  • Geo

What? He appointed Ms Rice and wanted Harriet Myers to the supreme court.

When has Bush ever been sexist? I have not detected the slightest trace of this in him.

  • Geo

The plain truth is that the DNC just wants the minority vote. That is why they favor illegal immigration and they want to keep AA’s on the dole. It’s all about the vote.

  • Doc99

How about this as a concept – appoint individuals by qualification, not ideology. That would be the Change to give me Hope.

  • Strawberrybitch

SFH, I think the radical islamists just got thrown under the bus when Obama chose Rahm Emmanuel as his chief of staff. At least it should give them pause. Wikipedia him and see what I mean.

I would feel very sorry for any women appointed by O-zero — he would find ways to insult and marginalize.

No women will EVER hold a key post in this sexist pig’s world.

Also women are women’s worst enemies — Donna (who is a racist) Brazile is the best example. Also Donna is a lesbian — so she is also a self hating woman of women.

America continues to be one of the most sexist countries in the world — most often ranked with Islamic countries in women’s participation in Government.

With O-zero’s obvious hatred of women — especially white women — expect NO gains for women in any area — except that more women will be murdered as economic conditions get worse.

This half Kenyan has been raised to hate women and use women. There is no way that he will change. And he is a passive aggressive — a very vindictive person. Those of us who opposed him (PUMAs etc.) will be made to pay for our efforts. That’s what happens when a psychopath is elected.

  • Ani

Geo, FYI, we have been pointing this out on this site for months. Re both Clinton and Palin.

Joan, wonderful post many of us can identify with.

Ani, I so agree about the women in the primaries. I was so proud of Hillary, and the work she was doing and how inspiring she was and how she became such a strong force by May. I was so proud of the men that were supporting her, and so disappointed whenever another woman jumped ship or was unjustly critical. Then when she dropped out of the race, and had to go her own way, those women supporters could have made a difference in the general election too. Hillary had already told us that she was ready and qualified and so was McCain, but Bo was not. Had those women listened and believed, and not jumped on Bo’s side, we wouldn’t be in this position now. He could not have won, had we stuck together. We just don’t do that!

  • DeaninMi

But WHO is going to have the ballz to uphold the Constitution?

    The bottom line.

America has become a nation of spoiled cowards.

There are only a few brave souls left here that still understand that our freedoms, our democracy and our Constitution MUST be protected & fought for. That we can’t take all of these for granted. That there are MANY throughout the world that have always hated us & want us to be destroyed. (Although we have indeed done things that justify some of that hatred.)

If it is discovered that Obama is not a natural-born citizen of the United States, he cannot be President. PERIOD.

Race riots or not, Americans better grow some backbone and keep Barack Obama from taking office if he is proven ineligible, or there will be very serious long-term consequences. Other foreign-born people WITHOUT America’s best interests at heart will feel brave enough to run for POTUS and finish tearing up our country. The floodgates would be open.

    If Hillary had more women???

If Hillary had as many dead people.
If Hillary’s women at the Caucus’s would have locked out the Obama supporters.
If Hillary’s women would have intimidated Obama supporters at the caucuses into changing their votes.
If Hillary’s women would have voted in Indiana and then hopped a bus to go vote in Ohio
If Hillary’s women would vote twice or more.
If Hillary’s female poll workers would wait until midnight to see the returns coming in, make CNN wait for a tally and stall, and stall and come up with some number that made Hillary garner more votes
If the DNC women would have stood up and given Hillary several of Obama’s electoral votes.

If more Hillary women supporters voted for her indeed.

This was an excellent article. Thank you so much.

I don’t expect that Obama will not prove his citizenship, but if it happens, it would be funny and I don’t expect any riots.

  • daveB

Yep, that’s exactly what you PUMAs are and have ever been since Obama won the nomination, a bunch of crybabies.

No one is discounting any of the horrors and fraud that happened — but the fact remains that if in the early primaries — on Super Tuesday, she had a little more female support, she would have had an insurmountable lead and that would have been that.

No one is saying it is any one group’s fault.

But the treatment that Palin likewise endured at the hands of women was not pretty. I know plenty of women who turned their backs on Hillary before February — in favor of this empty suit — that does not lessen the DNC and Obama’s great culpability for the dirt they did — but we are still the majority in this country. It is a huge possibility that more female support at the top would have helped.

I think Obama’s offhand crack about Nancy Reagan was a slip that revealed his natural tendency: misogyny. We didn’t elect him comedian-in-chief, he’s the commander-in-chief (sigh). A crack like this is unbefitting of the office and opens the door to using Michelle Obama as a punchline.

S4H: maybe they were encouraged by this quote from his book:
    “Barack Obama and Islam
“I will stand with them should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.” 2001, Obama … “Nobody is suffering more than the Palestinian people

BO wouldn’t even be photographed with the straight mayor of San Francisco.

He tacitly encouraged gay suppression, IMO, just as he tacitly supported woman bashing (part of divide and conquer, I suppose, a very passive agressive childish campaign) challenged to clarify his support for gays, (and I’m not even speaking of marriage) I seem to remember he ran.

Very sadly, African Americans do seem to hold a prejudice against gay people, (I remember reading an article in the Atlantic, (I think it was, but I will check) about this subject, gay denial being so strong it was thought to influence the higher rate of aids among AA — (like unmarried catholic girls, pregnancy and birth control — using birth control would be to have to admit to self one was having sex, a no no, for AAs, using a condom while having gay sex would be to admit one was gay, or bi, — )

Anyway, Obama never provided leadership on this issue, in part because he could not lead, to do so was to risk alienating voters, violating his strategy, I suppose, getting this mess in the White House now.

And gay discrimination is a legitimate issue, a disgrace he failed, here, as an AA, he could have changed minds, perhaps, that’s what hope and change are about, right?

Whereas Clinton was up front about her support, as it should be.

I know of younger people, (straight, I suppose, I don’t ask) not my generation , who are much more comfortable with this issue, some of their friends are out of the closet, and they love their friends, both male and female, so they dont “take no shit” when others try to harass them for their sexuality.

    Warms my heart, really does…

Oh daveBS–I haven’t personally shed a tear for Obama, he’s not worth it. But for those who have, I sympathize. Obama and his Thugocracy stole the election, not won it through intimidation, harassment and fraud, and thanks to you Obots we have a nutjob Narcisstic Thug creating the office and seal of The President Elect. All of that is worth weeping over.

Before, when it was about the election, I really didn’t see AAs rioting in significant numbers. Sure there were going to skirmishes bt the usual suspects, but not full-fledged rioting. There are a lot of gainfully employed working class AAs and in this economy, I doubt many would jeopardize losing a job.

But if this BC thing does really happen. I can assure you that there will be mass chaos and rioting even by people not prone to that sort of thing.

As much as I loathe the idea of this man being POTUS, as well as the part I played in voting Republican, though not in a swing state, I think this would catapault our society into a very swift decline, one that would be devastating.

I’m not just saying that because I’m AA. It’s also because on Tuesday, Election Day, too many Republicans stayed home. They spoke. They didn’t want McCain and they were willing to pull their stomachs in and tough out an 0bama administration. And way too many white and latino democrats voted for 0bama along with the AA community.

For me, the BC things comes too late. I wanted it before the Primary, to help Hillary or at least before the Convention.

That didn’t happen. 0bama won without me.

I have found the silver lining in this. The jubilance in the air and on the faces here in my community is unreal. Young AA men are holding doors open and being polite, there’s no tension in the air, people are euphoric. Yes, I know, it won’t last. But in the meantime I’m pushing the post-racial meme. I’ve already told several people that they can no longer use racism as an excuse. In fact, I don’t even want to hear the word racism or any other such racial terms.

If you guys are smart, you will push this too. Make this the beginning of ONE AMERICA, before we reach the next decade.

If 0bama isn’t installed, no president would be able to govern. Not to mention how it would play abroad. There’s too much going on in foreign affairs to have this kind of debacle.

Yes, I know. It’s painful for all of us who worked all of these months to derail this candidacy. But like what happened in 2000, when Al Gore finally threw in the towel, since he didn’t want to put America through a recount ordeal because he thought it wouldn’t be healthy for the country, and that was 2000. This is 2008, a post 911 world, we have 2 wars going on, an itchy Russia, a wretched economy, there’s just too much going on.

Although I find his choices so far laughable since it doesn’t mean change, it proves what we’ve known all along. The wackos from the Left will have their knives out before too long, they’re sharpening them as I type. And with cracks like the one he made yesterday about Nancy Reagan, the wingnuts from the Right attack from the other side.

0bama himself is in a no-win situation. But we do have an opportunity to perhaps get the yoke of racism off our backs.

Thank you so much for this post and for expressing just what I am feeling. It is a death, and people who don’t see it that way are dancing on the grave, making my grief even deeper. I’ve been on complete MSM blackout since early morning Nov. 5th. No TV at all, and I only read noquarter, justsaynodeal. Definitely no NPR, in fact almost no radio at all (sometimes Fox radio) because I don’t want to hear that con artists voice.

I am immersing myself in the feminine, watched a video about Mary Magdelen, thought by some to be the bride of Christ. And in the car, all I listen to are my Goddess meditation CDs, very soothing. This is a traumatic time for us, we need to nurture ourselves, remember that there is a long history of feminine power and we are a part of it, that some things cannot be taken away…

I think it’s very legitimate to need some time out to heal.

    C’mon, wake up!

  • Nexus

C’mon! this is too emotional. Women, homosexuals, white workers, jews none of these groups voted against Obama and all of them were screwed. Women can’t vote as if they were an only being cause they aren’t. So that’s not the problem. The problem, at least related to the women, is that too many people accept sex-discrimination even are proud of it (bros before hos) and nobody seems capable to put the “things in its place”. The other groups were bashed too but I think women and homosexuals are going to be the groups more trashed and most probably more humiliated publically. Like in Arabia Saudi!!

  • Nexus

That would be ideal! but in order to get the best person for the job, first discrimination would have to dissapear cause is quite difficult to choose someone to who people considers inferior or simply they don’t want to choose them cause want the job for themselves. And then how do we can solve this? With quotas, I’m afraid quota is not a perfect system but help

  • Andy

Joan of Art: what a beautiful essay; how come you can describe so well what I feel? Yes, because so many of us feel and experience the same. It’s been and still painful to feel shut out by our supposedly friends and colleagues. Noone s interested, noone even wants to listen to see far less admit what has happened. They just run over you and keep making toasts “for Obama!” while sharing a dinner our and plastering the new bumper sticker in their cars; yes there is one now that says “Obama: Thank You!” everyone seems to be purchasing.
The mourning for the death of thses dreams continues for me too.
Thank you so much for your wonderful words and sharing these with us.

  • baby_puppy

One America? What is that? Your guy used racism to get in office. BTW, who cares what the foreign countries think about Americans upholding their own constitution? You mean we are no longer allowed to criticize Obama out of fear of what other countries think? Do you beleieve, like your hero that his little foreign tour garnered electoral votes here? Every little criticism will be labeled racist just as it was in the primaries and GE.

But of course you’re right noone would dare to bring out the truth now and uphold our Constitution that the President must be a natural born citizen. Maybe Arnold will challenge in 2012!

  • Cixelsyd

I am a lawyer. I can tell you with absolute certainty that the poster is absolutely correct. Obama has to prove NOTHING right now.

The Supreme Court doesn’t have to take every case that someone asks them to. Instead, you ask the court to hear the case by filing a writ of certiorari stating why you think SCOTUS sould hear the case. Then, the opposing party files a response opposing that writ and explaining why the court should not hear it. This is not an evidentiary hearing. It is a purely legal issue.

In this case, the lower cout ruled that the party filing the lawsuit had no standing… basically, it said they had no right to even file the case and no right to present ANY evidence. Therefore, the only question for the Supremes is whether the case can even be filed, not anything related to a birth certificate.

I hate to break it to you, but this case is an absolute loser. Nothing will ever come of it. You shouldn’t get your hopes up.

  • baby_puppy

He’s not the pretender. Millions elected him. Where have you been since Tuesday?

Also agree Bush shows no sexist nor racist tendencies. Who could believe someone could be worse than Bush – or Cheney! Atleast they are natural born citizens.

  • KathyNeocon

He’s a sexist egotistical lying hypocritical bigot.

I was at a Palin rally in Carson California. It was the exact opposite. I stayed for a while afterwards, it was at the Home Depot center and all the regular concession stands were open, anyway, I got a chance to talk to people before, during and after the rally and it was a very positive experience. People were inspired by Sarah and happy…no they were kind of beaming with excitement and pride. It was really a neat experience. The only downers were the Obama supporters who snuck in and tried to disrupt things and the few who were outside causing a little ruckus.

  • Rocky Mountain High

FYI, Phil Berg is not the only taking issue with the BC issue. Andy Martin has filed a case with the Hawaiian Courts to reveal the original that Gov. Lingle ‘sealed’. Someone will get it through due process, because it must surface in order for the Electorate and the Congress to officiate the Constition which is why they are there in the first place. You need to read We The People site and Edwin Veira, PhD, J.D. about how this works. One way or the other, the original will be surface, which will reveal the birth place of Obama, aka Barry Dunham. According to the Grandmother, who witnessed his birth in Mombasa, Kenya, he was born in Kenya and then taken as an infant to Hawaii, where his mother registered him as a citizen, by filling out an original BC form (that’s the one that’s sealed) in order to get a COLB. The facts about the birth are on the original long form. Subsequently, there is also a BC from Kenya which corroborates it. It’s only a matter of time till these documents surface. Hopefully sooner than later, before the Inauguration. Stay tuned — this drama ain’t over yet.

  • Rocky Mountain High

For an indepth explanation how this process works, see:http://www.newswithviews.com/Vieira/edwin84.htm

Edwin Vieira,PhD., J.D. explains how the lower court’s decision was ‘hogwash’ and that this case must be heard and why and what will be the inevitable consequences to the Office of the Presidency as well it’s Judicial branch will cause.

    Palin/Schwarzenegger,

That could be a good ticket and maybe they can go on a second European mystery tour.

Except, instead of self aggrandizing to a bunch of screaming teenagers in the middle of a concert festival, they would talk to ACTUAL WORKING PEOPLE!!!

    Populism. The next great awakening.

  • xax

Awww. Davy. Is your Obama dream evaporating too quickly?

If so, I’m not crying. I’m going to be laughing all the way to the bank.

    HA! HA! HA!!

  • Cixelsyd

I just read your link… the guy’s arguments don’t hold water. He’s basically challenging the entire notion of requiring standing.

Sorry folks, but when you case is premised on overturning hundreds of years of accepted precedent, you can rest assured that you will lose.

Not only that, but he is also trying to shift the burden of proof from the accuser onto the accused, without requiring any logical reason to do so.

Simply citing a bunch of cases and Constitutional Articles may sound smart and convincing to the layman, but a lawyer can quickly recognize it as pure “hogwash.”

    Sincerely, Cixelsyd, J.D.
