What is going on in Turkey is of vital importance to the entire world.

Right now the secularism of Turkey is under great strain. The govt is currently controlled by Islamists who working incrementally through the system to arrive at the point where they could count on the people's approval to impose Sharia law.

As is occurring everywhere else in the Islamic world. Radicalism is increasing steadily.

Equality of gender is a vital check against Sharia law. Sharia by its very nature is discriminatory against women. thus gender equality and Sharia are mutually exclusive.

Turkey is trying to improve its prestige in the Muslim world by appearing as a stable, strong, confident and Islam-embracing nation. As it makes these gains, the Islamists in Turkey use this new prestige to say "See.. when we act Islamicly , our welfare increases... when we act Anti-Islamicly to appease the devils in the West, our situation worsens"

Turkey holds onto an office that is missing to the Islamic World right now.. that this office is empty is a sore to the Islamic world, and is a sign that Muslims are not living according to Allah's will.

If Turkey turns more Islamist there is a danger this office could be restored a it be filled by someone.

This office is Caliph of Islam.

Because Islam is a fusion of Church and State, it's pinnacle leader is the leader of both realms. Allah commands a governmental order led by the Caliph , who is the leader of the Caliphate (Khalifa)

The Caliphate started at the death of Mohemmed and lasted throughout history in various thrones and dynasties until appx 1922 after WW-I.

This is seen as the absolute low point in all of Islamic history.

EVERY SINGLE ISLAMIC TERRORIST GROUP is working to bring about the restoration of the Caliphate (each in its own way.. and there is no consensus how to do it, thus the seemingly contradictory methods of the groups)

Only the Caliph is vested with the power to call for a military Offensive against non-Muslims.. aggressive non-defensive Jihad.

This is why Al Qaeda gets mixed support from Muslims.. legally , it's beyond AQ's authority to call for Jihad against the West.

Anyway... Turkey was the seat of the last Caliphate and it holds the rights to that office and could once again in the future bring it back to life from its abolition.

Once that happens. The Global Jihad will really begin.

Equal rights for women is a defense against this

I also like the "gimmick" aspect of wearing fake moustaches I do think that this sort of thing gains publicity and is one of the things that is needed. Humor can go a long way towards swaying opinions that would otherwise not be persuaded. Well done women of Turkey of the Kader movement which seems to be the established Turkish equivalent of The New Agenda

Thanks for a great post. This highlights exactly what the problem is: partisanship. Womens groups like NOW are irrelevant and of the past because of this very reason.

Womens groups like the New Agenda are definately taking steps in the right direction to address the issues which affect ALL women of different political views and for that I salute them.

As seen by the responses here, not many care.

That's why we're in this position of not being represented today in politics equal to our numbers.

What will motivate women to support each other?

Young women are not being taught their history.

Thank you so much for this, Dr. Long. Isn't it stunning that women have been more successful in political positions in countries we tend to think of as less advanced than we are? Really amazing.

And after what happened this year, I see why...

Not to change the subject but has any heard anything more about Obama's grandmother Madelyn Payne Dunham. You'd think that Obama would be off to Hawaii by now for a service of some sort. I actually thought Obama would have left the day after the election for a break(many president elects have done that)to mourn his grandmother with his wife, sister, close friends and family.
Madelyn Payne Dunham died 7 days ago, late Sunday night in her apartment. Her death blared in every type of medium late Monday evening, almost 24 hours later brought tears to many, even those who did not support Obama.
Yet now 7 days later not one mention of a service or ??? has been made. If nothing else I thought that some type of announcement for those who wanted to honor his grandmother someway. You know donate to a charity or something in her name.
I cant tell you that there are many many different stories/theories that I have been reading in the blogs. So far I have not seen any new media or service announcement since Monday evening.

To me it was and is strange that there are no recent pictures of this lady, with or without Obama. By recent, Im talking in the last 2 or 3 years even. The most recent pics seem to be 10 to 20 years old, the ones with Obama seem to be from his early College or High School years.

BTW Everyone is invited to the seance in the West Wing tonight at midnight, where we will be able to directly ask FDR for advice on our current political situation

Actually, we already opened a worm hole about twenty years ago, we already know how it turns out -- we're just gaming it.

For theory, you know...

Web faux pas: Plan leaked for 'civilian security force'?
Before blogs caught it, Obama site told of requiring students to serve

The official website of President-Elect Barack Obama, Change.gov, originally announced that Obama would "require" all middle school through college students to participate in community service programs; but after a flurry of blogs protested children being drafted into Obama's proposed youth corps, the website's wording was softened.

'Thy kingdom come' through Obama
President-elect's headquarters declare, 'To God be the glory' for victory

Obama's campaign headquarters in Lake City, Fla., has posted a victory sign in its window stating, "To God be the glory. Great things he has done. Obama. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done."

Fantastic!

I hope Dr. Lynette will invite Hillary Clinton, Sarah Palin, and other women - beyond their party affiliations - to her show, even 10 or 15 minutes.
