Knock It Off Already

The crap attacks on Gov. Palin, that is.

A lot has been written about this, I know, but after getting TWO crappy articles from my sister with blatantly FALSE attacks on Governor Palin, I feel compelled to say more about this. And no, I’m not referencing the assholic articles she sent, but at least one came from a source I turned her on to a while ago: Alternet.

When their articles started attacking Senator Clinton non-stop, I quit my subscription to them. Judging from the articles my sister insists upon sending me, they have gone WAY over to the Rabid Voldemort side, with lots and lots of women-bashing to make their point. I am sure you can find it easily enough, if you really want your blood pressure to rise that much.

I’m sick of it. And sick of the blind acceptance of all attacks on Palin (or Clinton, for that matter), especially of the misogynistic variety. Heck, that seems to be most of them.

The kicker on all of this is my sister attacking ME for not supporting Obama when I was a founding member of my city’s first NOW chapter. I am not kidding. Not that SHE ever marched for Equal Rights, like I did, or helped women through Operation Rescue lines, but since I would not give my allegiance to Voldemort, all of a sudden, I am no longer a feminist. Because feminists can only support LIBERAL women, which I did not know until just a few months ago. Gee, was I ever living in a fantasy world before!!

Anywho, I am sick of all of the blatant lies smearing Gov.Palin after the election. So is one of her oldest friends:

Governor Palin has been slimed by the Obamabots up one side and down the other, with tremendous assistance from the MSM and those “anonymous source” (read: COWARDS) who are are full of more manure than my horse. A good-hearted No Quarter reader, Geo, provided this LINK to send the governor a letter of support after the election. So, here’s mine:

Dear Governor Palin:

As a former “yellow dog” Democrat (5/31 when the DNC took lawfully cast votes from Clinton and gave them to Obama was the last straw), I want to thank you for your participation in this process. Your presence on the trail with John McCain was invigorating. Even though I disagree with some of your policies, I respect your right to have them, and your willingness to engage in discussion on them. As someone who fought for the ERA, who engaged in (lawful) protests for women’s rights, I was marching for ALL women, not just liberal women who think exactly like I do. I am proud of what you have accomplished in your life. You are a role model to our young women.

I have to say, though, to see the continuation of the misogynistic treatment Senator Clinton received turned on you was horrifying. It made it quite clear that it was not your POLICIES to which people objected, but your GENDER. This year was a real eye-opener to me, and what I saw was shocking. To have your MANY accomplishments demeaned and belittled, even though YOU are more qualified than the president-elect, says a lot about where this country is in terms of women. Even more shocking was the way women were all too happy to jump on that bandwagon, mocking what you have done with your life, or not, focusing on rumors the MSM was awfully quick to get out there without any investigation, and mighty slow to correct, if they ever did, rather than what you have done for your state. A sad state of affairs, I have to say…

And to now try and blame YOU for John McCain’s loss rather than the registered Republicans who did not turn out, or look more closely at the RAMPANT voter fraud in states across this land, is outrageous. You were a breath of fresh air after Senator Clinton was drummed out by the DNC elite, who cared not for the will of the people. You brought some hope to those of us who lost our party this year when they ceased to be democratic. You inspired us, and for that, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

All the best to you, Governor Palin, as you continue serving your state, and wherever else your life takes you. Hopefully, we will see more of you on the National Stage! All the best to your lovely family as well.

Sincerely,
The Rev. Amy

If you are so inclined, and sick of the way Voldemort and crew treated this woman, as well as the MSM, send her a shout out. Like me, you don’t have to agree with her policies to respect the person and her accomplishments. Sadly, that kind of respect has been sorely lacking in this campaign of sexism and race-baiting, but it isn’t to late to let her know that you are better than that.

Can I just say how sad I am at the state of women in this country in the 21st century? When I was younger, and apparently, more naive, I thought we would be so much farther along at this point. I never dreamed we would have it worse than we did back then. Un-freakin-believable.

Thanks, Voldemort, for exposing the reality of sexism, misogyny, and internalized misogyny. We couldn’t have done it without you, or is it BECAUSE of you? Yeah, I think it’s the latter, too.

And how about those race relations? Bang up job on those, too. What a healer. What a Uniter. What a flim-flam artist. What gullible people we have in this country. What a long, long way we have to go…

  • Tom K.

I’ve said it before in a few different posts, but these anonymous tipsters from the campaign want to deflect blame for themselves for running such a deficient campaign. They would have been dead in the water without Sarah Palin, period. Sarah Palin saved McCain’s campaign from hitting election day DOA.

Those anonymous sources better get onboard with Palin or get out of the way and shut the hell up, because she is most likely the future of their party. If they want a place at the table, they’d better quit the smears and get behind her.

    • stefystef

Thank TomK. I totally agree with you.
I recognized these attacks against Palin from the beginning.

I guess the Republicans have decided to eat their young.

      • Winston

Anyone find it odd that not one single leak was directed at McCain himself.

This kind of blows the theory that the leakers are just trying to absolve themselves of botching things up. The leakers are trying to damage Palin.

        Let’s find the leakers.

    • http://noquarter MAYA

The oil/big money lobby in their party will make sure she is not.

      • /www.youtube.com/watch?v=ibsP6XN2dIo&eurl trixta

Bingo, Maya! The oil/neo-con wing of the Party is trying to do her in. I would add that it would also be in Romney’s interest to so do.

As for McCain, I hope he does the right thing and comes to her defense.

    • Winston

I agree. She has a 91% approval rating on Rasmusen.

Ninety-one percent (91%) of Republicans have a favorable view of Palin, including 65% who say their view is Very Favorable. Only eight percent (8%) have an unfavorable view of her, including three percent (3%) Very Unfavorable.

    • waldenpond

Hmm, That sounds familiar, where did I hear that? Sounds like the Obama camp a’la Donna Brazile.

[[Those anonymous sources better get onboard with Palin (OBAMA) or get out of the way and shut the hell up, because she (HE) is most likely the future of their party. If they want a place at the table, they’d better quit the smears and get behind her (HIM).]]

Yes, that is what Dems were told. Get in the bus or get runover.

      • Andy

waldenpond: you are making an incorrect analogy here. Tom K’s message is nothing in its intent like Brazile’s. Sarah Palin is NOT running anymore. So what’s all the BS? Well, Tom K. above is right: these people are out of a job and afraid at their own incompetence. They either want to move to the Obama bandwagon or are reaching to Romney: yes Romney is quite afraid of Palin and I wouldn’t be surprised that much of what’s happening now is Romney’s positioning for his 2012 run…(ugh)

      • Tom K.

The difference is that these people are trying to harm this woman’s future for reasons of scapegoating, spite, and self-preservation. Those of us to whom Brazile directed her comments opposed her golden boy out of valid concerns for his experience and abilities. The large majority of us haven’t just made up stories out of whole cloth to torpedo his entire career. We sought an honest airing of his spotty past and some serious reporting on and evaluation of his qualifications. So, no, your comparison does not work.

  • Bud White

Great post and letters, RRA. The attacks on Palin are an extension of the sexist narrative against Hillary, only now the McCain operatives are employing it.

    • Galt’s Pizza Parlor

This “election” (more of a scripted “reality” TV show with a fixed outcome) has brought to the surface fundamental flaws within many people. The prejudice against women is abhorrent, along with any criticism or willingness to want a man in diapers as president as “racism.” I’m ashamed to be a human being, permanently from this.

      • Geo

There is need for an unwearying, moment-to-moment flexibility in the treatment of facts. The key word here is blackwhite .

Blackwhite is the essence of Obama.

Like so many newspeak words, this word has two mutually contradictory meanings. Applied to an opponent, it means the habit of impotently claiming that black is white, in contradiction of the plain facts. Applied to a party member, it means loyal willingness to say that black is white when party discipline demands this. But it means also the ability to believethat black is white, and more to knowthat black as white, and forget that one has ever believed the contrary. This demands a continuous alteration of the past, made possible by the system of fought which really embraces all the rest, and which is known in newspeak as doublethink.

        George Orwell, 1984

        • athena

I am reading this for the FIRST time. I know, but better later than never. 1984 has a crazy similarity to what we are experiencing now and probably more to come. Yikes!

          WAR IS PEACE
          FREEDOM IS SLAVERY
          IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH

As we watch the telescreen and are told what to think and believe….

    • lark

Rev Ami, you letter was too long. I don’t think Palin cares for excuses of any kind. Palin was going to save our country. How? By simply being the opposite of what this country is all about and probably what you are all about. And maybe what I am all about too. But now it is important to hear the recriminations from everyone involved in her dismissed campaign.

Einstein said that for every action there is an equal an opposite reaction. So that allows you to measure the force of Palin’s actions. Then how were Palin’s actions neutralized and dismissed? What trickery or norm did we used to subsume her narrative? Simple.

In words for every action verb there is also an excuse. That defines pathological lying and the community that builds around them. Take a look at Obama’s first press conference. His first impression if you will. It was framed by ‘elected President.’ That means that his words are framed by ‘with this excuse my words are meaningless.’

Rev. Ami, this country made a decision before God. And that decision was to accept ‘excuses’ instead of actions. And that’s what Obama will bring us ‘a world of excuses.’ They will resemble Genesis 3:18.

For Palin she needs to accept God’s will – Gen 3:16. The country rejected her fruitfulness and added pain upon pain to her deliveries. The pain of delivery in Palin’s case did not end with her physical delivery but continues throughout her life as a public official. Pain that no man can bear to sustain or entertain. Pain that only a courageous woman can endure. Pain that makes her everyday that much stronger and closer to God.

      • Winston

I did not understand your post. By the way it was Newton, not Einstein.

Einstein Newton said that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

        • lark

Oh well Newton then. My brain is a washout sponge.

      • /www.youtube.com/watch?v=ibsP6XN2dIo&eurl trixta

F#%$k, God! Palin doesn’t have to accept anything!

  • http://rose4hillary.blogspot.com/ Still4Hill

Oh Rev. Amy – have you hit a bunch of nails on the head! And now, to make matters worse and more complicated, comes the second round of Hillary bashing, this time from PUMA women blaming her for Obama’s victory and criticizing her for campaigning.

I sent her a letter that I posted here:
    http://departmentofhomegirlsecurity.wordpress.com/
    and here:
    http://rose4hillary.blogspot.com/

I will also compose something for Governor Palin. I did vote for her – as a protest. I also agree that she was effective on the trail. She got the issues out on the table.

I never imagined when Hillary declared that she was going to run into anything like this. I thought those days were over.

I am finished with women attacking Hillary. We should have gotten our act together and protected her. She could not have fought the whole party on her own. We should have closed ranks hard around her.

So please, all of you, lay off. Hillary did not win him the election. The DNC did.

Thanks, Amy. I will write to Gov. Palin.

    • http://rabblerouserruminations.blogspot.com Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy

      Hey, Still -

Yes, mine was a protest vote against the DNC and Voldemort, too. I also felt that I could live with a McCain administration, thinking him to be a man of integrity, at least…

Thanks, Bud and all – and yes, it is might hard to swallow all of this misogyny. For it to be aimed at Hillary – AGAIN – is maddening…

      • Galt’s Pizza Parlor

I get the feeling of what it was like just prior to Rome burning at the hands of Nero. Madness has taken over the pols, media, corporations and electorate.

    • Andy

OMG, when would people STOP vilifying women?

RRR Amy: thank you so much for your post. I have been mortified at the way Palin has been trashed even AFTER the election. I voted was just like you and Still4Hill but I confess that in one way or another by election day Palin and McCain had earned it. I will write to her. People need to stand up and call what is happening by its name.

Still4Hill: thank you also for putting the links to your letter to Hillary. I have been thinking for a while to write to her as well: where did you mail it or email it ?
(I am not her constituent either)

      Thanks again to both!

      • http://rabblerouserruminations.blogspot.com Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy

You’re right, Andy – they did deserve it.

What astonishes me is that the attacks on her for being unqualified (!!!!!) are still flying around, as well as all of those debunked rumors abt her. Those lies were in the two articles my sister sent, too.

What do the feel the need to obliterate her (and Hillary)? Is it to throw off any real inspection of Obama? I mean, really you wanna talk abt unqualified! But they will never acknowledge that…

And these horrible articles were written by women…

        • Galt’s Pizza Parlor

Neo-cons and neo-liberals are two sides of the same coin. Both are disgusting and will do anything to “win.” One has failed and the other is about to fail. You can’t build “change” on a foundation of “same old.”

          • imustprotest

Aren’t the neo-cons former ultra liberal trotskyists??

          • Andy

            Galt’s PP:

Yes, they behave the same. The lunatic left is as fascist and the lunatic right. These two extremes meet can be identified to become the same point.

            Galt’s PP:

Yes, they behave the same. The lunatic left is as fascist as the lunatic right. These two extremes meet can be identified to become the same point.

          • /www.youtube.com/watch?v=ibsP6XN2dIo&eurl trixta

Pizza, I agree! This election points to the pathetic realization that we have the same puppet masters, but different puppets.

It is now very clear that presidents are elected from behind the scenes. I think a deal was made between the Neo-liberals and the Neo-cons to elect Obama in exchange for letting the GWB crooks get away. To start, the liaison between Rove and Brazille is highly suspect, given that the Dem Party declared in 2006 that it would NOT seek the impeachment of Bush or the investigation of Rove for his many crimes.

With regard to Palin, both the neo-cons and neo-liberals see her as a threat, since she is a reformer.

        • Andy

It is often said that there is no worst anti-semite than a renegade jew.
I have thought a lot about why women behave like this against women; often worse than men. My theory is that they it has to do with them desperately wanting to be part, be accepted by the boys club; they think that if the go even a step further then men will take them in. What they don’t realize is that if a man behaves like this to other women then then have no respect for them either –even if they marry them or are their coworkers. It’s more complicated than this, of course.

I wrote about this on the NQ blogtalk radio chat room on election night; about how the wife of a big shot professor was going on an on in this part about Trig not being Palin’s son and other younger faculty talking with her laughing their asses off and insulting her for traveling while pregnant and speaking of her and her many children as if she was cattle… It was revolting. I left at that point; couldn’t take it anymore.

          • C.S.

Women in the 1950s were identified with their husband’s career and, like the role of First Lady, that meant she was judged by how well she could entertain and act as hostess. Your professor’s wife is obviously stuck in pre-feminism mode and would be jeering dust bunnies under Palin’s bed if everyone else was. It’s like longing to be in the popular crown in high school, you’ll do anything to join – including believing and spreading lies about rivals who make you look inept.

Real women can support and cheer other women on if they are secure about themselves and their place in our society. Leaving aside the men’s role and looking at the spouses of the candidate you can see it applies to them also.

You see a bitter greedy woman who is envious of women who succeed and who is always grasping for more, like Michelle Obama. Someone whose image was “softened” by the Democratic party with hairdos, makeup and clothes after her anti-American remarks got her into trouble.

Then you have a cool, self assured Cindy McCain who, in spite of her marriage to a Senator, continued to do her own thing, which was basically trying to better the lives of children through her charitable work while spending her own money. Someone that Mother Theresa trusted so much that she gave her two infants to care for and I doubt you can find a better character reference than that.

And here comes an energetic fireball Governor Palin; who does what Mrs. Obama can’t do on her own (can you imagine Barry in that supporting role); which is run a state, raise a family and maintain a great marriage with a man (also a minority) who clearly loves and supports her and run for VP. She makes women like Michelle look bad, she has to go!

And these harpies criticizing Senator Clinton must have been the most envious because she was one of the most capable, intelligent candidates that has ever run for president of either party throughout our history. She’s accomplished more in her lifetime than both the Obamas put together! She not only made the women look small but the men, too, so they piled on her like a pack of vicious dogs because one on one no man or no woman could defeat her.

To borrow from Angela Mayo’s great poem “Rise Hillary, Rise; I paraphrase “Rise, Women, Rise.”
And that includes Governor Palin. Like Senator Clinton, she has the right stuff..

            • Andy

Wonderful comment CS, really excellent and spot on. Thank you.

              • debate

                I agree..thank you

    • BernieO

Whenever the media turns on a candidate there is no campaign strategy in th world that works. That was true with Gore and Clinton, both of whom were savaged by the media. Since the media still likes McCain, they turned on Palin.
When these candidates lose, they are always blamed for running bad campaigns, trying different strategies instead of sticking to one theme. Of course had they done that they would be criticized for being too rigid. They are criticized for looking defensive – as if there is any other way to look when you are being unfairly attacked.

      • JustMe

When these candidates lose, they are always blamed for running bad campaigns, trying different strategies instead of sticking to one theme.

The media dictated the theme…. from day one they dictated that Obama would be the next President…. They never wavered from this theme.
Sarah had to try break the theme and get the truth out it was just like Hillary fighting with the whole media on her back……
Not only was it difficult it was a heavy burden to carry each day when the media continued with their theme

    • Joe The Citizen

I am finished with women attacking Hillary.

I am finished with women attacking women in politics. Period.

      • Winston

I hope you are able to see that the attacks on Palin are several orders of magnitude greater than those on Hillary. Neither woman should be treated this way.

        • lark

Hillary was attacked for her faithfulness. Palin for her fruitfulness.

Pitiful men that are afraid of faith, fulness, fruits do that to women and men of faith, fulness and fruits.

patriarchy doesn’t belong to a gender, it belongs to a mindset shared across race, gender, ethnicity, sexual preference, etc., the feminist movement of the ’60s only saw white male.

      • workingclass artist

To be fair Joe…I am finished with mediocrity…
Criticism based on political stance and behavior as well as a record of actions are fair despite gender…in fact it is a DUTY.
Now I will continue to criticize Meeeechelle because I do not like what I have seen of her politics and her actions. She has thrust herself into the national spotlight as an example to follow…SHEEESH! So I will pay attention to see what develops…Hmmmm…
GOV. PALIN has political stances I do not agree with but she has also clearly stated her federalist philosophy and an ability to effectively compromise with the opposition to get legislation through to govern.
So far from what I can see she is not an Idealogical Fascist…Aaaaand I can respect that no matter the gender.
Feminists can be just as sexist as Chauvinists ( oops I think I was redundant there…chuckle…)
Of course this is just my opinion…

    • Winston

Hillary bashing, this time from PUMA women blaming her for Obama’s victory.

How is this sexist bashing. There are at least some merits to the argument. First, it is not an unsubstantiated rumor. It is a direct observation that she chose to campaign for Obama; 79 times separate events for Obama. She campaigned for Murtha and Franken also.

Now if sexist insults were hurled by PUMAs (which I doubt) that is bashing.

There are men PUMAS and if they criticize Hillary for helping OBAMA that is not sexist bashing.

      • kgirl1028

When i was in college i learned a neat saying “Of all my mothers children i love me the best”. That’s what i have to say to people who criticize hillary. She’s like all of us, she does what she has to preserve what SHE deemed most important. Not even God tells you to put others above yourself if anyone notes the bible says “love your neighbor AS you love yourself. NO one is selfish if they save themselves, they are only selfish when they put themselves continually above others. Why should she seek to save a country that rejected her? End the end Hillary did what she could live with. How can you blame her for not saving people who seemed so determined to drown themselves. In the end i feel the same way. I am going to enjoy the next 4 years as much as humanly possible, it’s not that i didn’t think obama could not win, it is that i hoped he wouldn’t. Because i see and smell danger, but if people want to chuck their reedoms let them. Obama is weak vain and more than just little too impressed with himself. Let him run his course. it will be up sooner than you think. This country is teetering on the edge of an abyss and majority of the people in this country refused to even vote and the ones that did thought that a person with nothing to offer but pretty words was the best choice. No one not even a former first lady that IS more qualified to jump off a ledge to save that sorry lot. She will go splat and they will too. Right now, we need to get our lives in order and wait. that is what hillary is doing and we should follow her lead. It is fall the winter is coming. So let’s prepare to hunker down. Let’s get our lives together, so that we can have enough to survive the next four years. Then when spring comes we’ll be ready. I think it’s time to stop critizing and start getting ready to live in Obamanation. It may be rough but we have seen worse. Let’s do this.

        • Snickers

Kgirl, I agree. It’s done. The players are in place (admittedly through foul means) and all we can do is get our lives together and hold on tight, because a lot more diasters (including natural ones) are on the menu. I am already slashing my budget and saving as much as I can, stocking up on goods as I can while also helping my neighbors. That also means I am going to be keeping tabs on what is happening through the news and the internet, and since I used to be a Girl Scout, I’m going to be prepared…

Where are those Americans, 80% of them, who claim to be Christian? I cannot find them on TV, on the roads, in checkout lines. Heck, I cannot even see 80% in Christian churches who are making a serious effort toward achieving the most difficult of all Christian tenets: ‘love they neighbor’.

  • Ohio Granny

I worked in the operating room as an RN for many years. Once, the open heart team was called in to testify in a law suit. The nurses said they were asked questions like, how tall are the walls, how many feet from the table to the door, how many pounds does the table hold, and on and on, for 50 questions, all of which the nurses would answer “I don’t know”. At the end the oppostion lawyer pronounced them dunces who were clueless and had no right to be involved in the life saving procedure. They were demoralized.
When I watched the Gibson interview, I realized I was watching a woman being questioned by a man, and the woman was trying to figure out answers to the gotcha questions. When I rewatched the Couric interviews, I realized, as a woman who knows how we act when being belittled, that I was watching a woman respond to another woman with contempt for her demeaning attitude. Only we women can see what men don’t see because we know about the mean girls. Sadly, it is only the answers that can get transcribed and ridiculed and not Sarah showing her contempt.
It is an outrage that a woman whose parents are teachers is smeared about geography, or that a Govenor wouldn’t know civics, or that a leader whose largest and only land border is with a NAFTA member doesn’t have knowledge about trade relationships. I believe it had to be another woman who “annoymously” made these demeaning leaks because, ladies, only another woman would be that hateful and jealous. As a woman, I know how we can be the first and most successful in destroying our own.
That the women here get it, that gives me hope.
Sarah Palin is what I wish I could be, courageous. Would I have given up a job paying $120,000 for my principals? I’d like to believe I would but sadly, I don’t think I could. She is the best of us.
I’ve learned to appreciate and admire Hilliary Clinton here in ways I couldn’t have before. My eyes have been opened here because I see that the supporters of Hilliary really do mean what they say as it applies to all women, not just the women of the left.
Ladies, it took 50 years after African American men got the right to vote, let us hope we don’t have to wait 50 years for a woman president.

    • Judy L. NC

      Right on, Amy and Ohio…..

I’m reminded of commentary after the Charlie Gibson interview…can’t really remember who said this but it stuck with me. It was probably someone right here. I’m paraphrasing: To Joe Biden they asked, ‘how did you feel about campaigning all across America?’ To Sarah Palin they asked, ‘name all 50 states in alphabetical order’.

    • rw

“As a woman, I know how we can be the first and most successful in destroying our own.”

Blatantly apparent in its most basic form in the Afro cultures where women, powerless in their greater society, derive power by hacking each other’s puzzies away…

Statistically, women are a failure, over 50% of the world population and yet do not have equality on the face of the Earth.

  • ACPD

Thank you for this comment. It is exactly what I’ve been saying. The fact that attacks against Gov Palin persist proves that this is about her being a woman and daring to take on the establishment. If it were just about the election the attacks would have stopped at the end of the election.

So after all these months of angst, what has changed? Nothing. We have a president-elect who ran on change and who is being touted as the agent of change. The math doesn’t support that view. Only 20 to 25% of the people elected him and we have questions about many of those votes. That means 75 to 80% of the American public either actively voted against him or opted out of the process. That’s no mandate.

And Congress is essentially the same. Yes, the Dems picked up more seats, but not enough to run anything through Congress. The Congressional Reps still have enough of an edge to thwart any legislation or appointments they feel strongly about.

And the Supreme Court will not change, even if some of the liberals step down. There still are enough conservatives to allow the whittling away of Rov v. Wade. Since that opinion gives the states the power to define the restrictions they can place on abortions, there will be states that will continue to send cases to the Court that will further restrict abortions to the point where there will be states (like Miss) where it will be nearly impossible for abortions to take place and others where it will be readily available….

Of course, more research will be done on the Repubs who didn’t participate in the election. Clearly sexism was one factor, but racism may have been another factor: they couldn’t vote for a black or woman candidate….If that turns out to be the case than racism is alive and well in this country. We have only compounded it by making it now acceptable to add black on white racism to the mix.

And the media: who do you think got the biggest portion of Obama’s $600M, but the media. They were bought overtly and implicitly by Obama. But now they don’t have any “drama” to create for their entertainment/news unless they start making it–once more. In order to keep the interest going they are going to have to shift at some point from the Obama, the miracle to the Obama, the debacle. This emperor is very naked and what the media giveth, the media taketh away.

The honeymoon will probably last until just after the Inauguration (which, of course, will put Shakespeare and Jesus Christ to shame; Lincoln may rise out his grave and say, “Now why didn’t I say that?”); but then the story line will change….No women to blame then….only a very naked and lacking Obama with all of his flaws and inadequacies showing….

  • ame

I too left the Democratic Party. I do not recognize them. Party affiliations are no longer for me.

The smear campaign against Sarah Palin has work so far but she needs to keep speaking out against the lies. If Palin doesn’t fight back, the smear will always label her. She needs to get the truth out by continuously making it an issue.

I still have friends quote the lie about how Palin spent all this money on herself and how she is a shopaholic. They never question Obama’s expensive tailor made suits or his custom made seat covers on the press plane.

  • susan

Last week I did send 2 letters – one to Gov. Palin thanking her for helping to lift John McCain’s campaign and give him a chance in this absurd election season (lacking only Ryan Seacrest telling us how many people voted), and apologizing for the many obnoxious dems out there and assuring her we’re not all like that. I also sent a letter to John McCain thanking him for his many years of service to our country, congratulating him on what I think was a good VP pick for the circumstances he was in, and asking him to work with Hillary in the senate to try and get things done in a bi-partisan way (the only 2 Senators who will try, I’m sure).

Voldemort is cute, but let’s just call him what he really is.

    Hitler version 2

    • http://www.cafepress.com/pumapride John House

Technically, that’s what Voldemort was, in the books. Voldemort called for the extermination of Muggles and complete Pureblood Wizard rule (despite the fact that he was, in fact, half-blooded/Mudblood).

Ssssssoooooo…Obama too is half-blood/Mudblood, as it would be.

    • csuzeq

I call him Community Organizer Odrama. Hitler was a community organizer, too.

      • jbjd

Yep; he organized his community onto the boxcars and into the ovens. Judging by the success of his mission, I wonder how many people who voted for BO would call him a ‘winner,’ too.

  • wodiej

When over half the country is a bunch of ignorant morons who voted for someone based on his “charisma” and the way he speaks even though he likely is not even a legal citizen of this country, what do we expect? I mean really, Palin is a threat and they are afraid of her. Why? Because she’s sharp, she fights corruption, she’s a Christian but not judgemental, lots of people love her and can relate to her. Many women are just plain jealous of her because she’s very attractive, is physically fit, has alot of self confidence, has a great husband who actively helps raise their 5 kids and she has the highest approval rating of any Governor. (She probably has the highest approval rating of any government leader period.)

Not only that, there are still millions in this country who think of women as second class, not worthy of respect or serious consideration. Let’s face it, most men think women exist just to serve them and many women happily go along. I thought slavery was abolished years ago or was that just for blacks?

    • C.S.

I wouldn’t be too sure of “over half the country” what with club wielding Black Panthers guarding the Voting Gates, New Yorkers voting in Ohio, and an arrogant little fraud admitting on camera that he had voted for the candidate known as Obama several times as if he thinks he’s voting in a reality TV show. And that doesn’t include misuse of official government positions. Now we have 36 days left to prove it.

Deja vu strikes every election day.

  • Cyn NY

As another Democrat who switched to Independent on 5/31, I wonder if we can’t get some kind of count from the BOE as to exactly how many people the Democratic party lost due around that time.

Couldn’t you have made Mechelle look evil like she is?

      • Tuppence411

MEchelle is walking into a landmine. Does she honestly believe she can walk thru the swirl of sexism frenzy the O camp created unscathed? You reap what you sow! She will be inviserated as a wife and mother, starting with the school she picks for her children. (Ha Ha! That’s a no win situation for them.) I predict, MEchelle will take the punch on that one, but respond with her usual angry defiant self. That response will open the floodgate- watch out MEchelle, you will be criticized over your parenting, decorating, and hostess skills. And I personally can’t wait until the WH domestic staff become un-named sources in the National Enquirer!

    • http://rabblerouserruminations.blogspot.com Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy

John, that is freakin’ AWESOME!!! Can I use that sometime? Shoot – I wish I had it for THIS post, but I’m sure there will be more, if it is okay with you, that is!

      • http://www.cafepress.com/pumapride John House

Yes, you most definitely can (“YES YOU CAN“, LOL)! I’d be honored, actually. :)

To the above poster: I didn’t make MEchelle look terrible because in the original picture, Umbridge herself just looked like herself/smiling head-on into the camera. I pretty much followed the expressions of the original cast members. And it was hard finding a good head-on pic of MEchelle just smiling, because most pics of her are at 3/4 angle. Then I remembered that she was on the cover of a few black magazines…I needed a hi-res photo, because the original posters are high-res, and I’ve got a higher res copy of this on my HD.

  • Joe The Citizen

The relentless attacks against Gov. Palin will continue. The Obama campaign has directed that she be discredited. They will not stop.

    1. They are still angry about “palling around with terrorists”. LOL She got too close to the truth.

    2. Her TV ratings beat his. That hurt “the one’s” ego. (VP Debate beat the Pres debates – SNL, best ratings in 14 years)

    3. Her state has oil! Guess who wants to replace her and put in a Governor they can control??

    4. The Obama campaign’s consistent strategy to throw red meat to the media to distract them from investigating Obama. The man that might actually get to control the worlds largest military and economy.

    This will not stop

  • Fran

I saw the article in Alternet. I have long since stopped reading most ‘liberal’ sites, but happened to check out one that at least tries a little to present different views. Well, one of their articles linked to the Alternet article trashing Sarah. I was so disgusted. I wanted to post a comment that what it said has all been DISCREDITED! I just feel overwhelmed by the stupidity and nastiness of so many so called liberals. Thanks for your article.
btw, apparently there is a pretty big backlash against the trashing of Sarah.
Also, I just watched a movie about Ralph Nadar, An Unreasonable Man, in which he says at one point, that the worst treatment he ever received was from DEMOCRATS!

  • nayak

You campare SP to HRC and expect us to believe you are not sexist? Joke! It is the GOPers who have been semaring HRC for not 6 years now, but for 16 years, ever since she moved into the White House. Even yesterday Jonah the Jackass at NRO was smearing her. SP was a bad choice, and let’s hope this “let’s return to our basic principles” crew in the GOP keeps going that way and keeps SP in the cocoon she inhabits. SP must be one heck of a campaigner, Guilford County, North Carolina, where she made her infamous remark about pro-Amrican real America, went for Obama by a 17% margin!!!

Now we have Obama states that are = Kerry states + [IN, VA, NC, NV, NM, CO, IA]. The next target will be Texas and Arizona, both of which are ripe for the picking. The GOP in its present form is toast. It’s only hope is to junk doofuses like SP, dump its knuckle dragging 3G base and battle for ideas with the Democratic party. If not 2012 will make the 2008 disaster look pleasant.

    • benny

‘junk doofuses like SP’. An obama-supporters version of change you can believe in.

    • C.S.

nayak, your problem should not be with the two female candidates who proved more popular than “the guys” but with the political party system that has been distorted to represent some outside influence to introduce new political ideologies; i.e. the candidate who changed his name from Barry Soertoro to Barack Obama and hid his associations with Muslims connected to terrorists and domestic terrorist who attacked the Pentagon. It is inconceivable that this mysterious candidate would ever have been allowed in the candidate pool prior to this election.

The paper trail does not lead to either Senator Clinton or Governor Palin but straight back to Barry Soertoro, aka Barack Obama and whoever was protecting him.

  • Tuppence411

these anonymous tipsters from the campaign want to deflect blame for themselves for running such a deficient campaign

That is only the short term goal, as these scum bags are auditioning for their next job on a republican campaign. The long term goal of the smears and belittling is to completely and utterly incapacitate a political future for Sarah. Re-brand her as a dumb clothes horse who knows nothing about geography. So that in the future, when the public hears the name “Sarah Palin” they automatically associate her with a designer jacket and a quote she never said- ” I can see Russia from my front porch.” She has to fight back, not so much by dispelling the rumors but changing the narrative to her accomplishments.

  • hadenough

It is the GOPers who have been semaring HRC for not 6 years now, but for 16 years, ever since she moved into the White House.

The “liberal media” has been smearing the Clintons for more than 15 years. The “liberal media” collectively writes a script they like and then they all keep reading from it. The gop is irrelavant as was proven this election cycle.

The “liberal media” created george bush and elected him president. Twice. Now the “liberal media” has created and elected obama. Insanity would be thinking obama will work out any better than bush.

  • lark

Rev. Ami, the attacks on Palin, pre and post and during the campaign cycle are God’s will for Palin.

Does anyone have the URL where Sarah Palin raises political contributions for her political campaigns, State or Federal. Does she have her own PAC?? Not the McCain/Palin site but one exclusively for her use and control.

I went to the Alaska URL and they have a Law forbidding the personal use of their site as per the following excerpt.

“” http://gov.state.ak.us/govoffices/ Alaska law prohibits use of state equipment or resources for campaign or partisan political purposes. Please do not send any messages to these addresses or make calls to these telephone numbers concerning campaign or partisan political activities.”"

I tried this query at Craigslist Political and got a bunch of what I called “Obamas Internet Brown Shirt Army”.

BTW, Did your sister vote for McCain/Palin? If so, hurray. If not, why is she sending you Palin attack articles?

  • Margaret

    Here’s mine:

    Governor Palin,
I want to tell you, from the bottom of my heart, how grateful I am for your great character and leadership, and how horrified I am by all the attacks on you. It is clear to me the attacks are baseless, and are coming because you are one heck of a powerful woman.

I’ve been a lifelong Democrat, but I watched the misogyny against Hillary Clinton, I watched an unqualified, untrustworthy man steal the nomination from her with the help of the DNC, and I left my party. Or, as they say, my party left me.

I was proud to cast my vote this year for you and McCain. Not just because I feared an Obama presidency, not just because of my rage at all the sexism, but because you and McCain love this country and are strong leaders who would have made things better for all of us.

It’s an outrage that you are being blamed for McCain losing. Let’s see, how about factoring in a grossly biased media, Obama funneling in funds illegally from overseas, Republicans not getting out to vote, some Democrats staying home or writing in Hillary Clinton, oh, and let’s not forget, massive voter fraud in every swing state.

Not only is it not your fault, you catapulted the McCain ticket into a real competitive position, you breathed new life into it. Thank you for being who you are and doing what you do.

I have been a feminist, well, forever. So I also want to tell you how utterly disgusted I am by liberal ‘feminists’ attacking you. In my view these women are not feminists at all. Because feminists respect a woman’s right to make her own choices in her life, to hold her own viewpoints, to be true to herself. I say this as a woman who has long considered herself to be a radical feminist; I say this as a woman who admires you tremendously.

I want you to know there are lots of us out here who are on your side and rooting for you, and ready to stand up for you and support you in whatever you choose to do. We will move heaven and earth for you should you choose to run in 2012.

Bless you and your family and may God comfort you and heal you from these terrible attacks,

    a proud PUMA

They just can’t stop. What is wrong with these people? They got what they wanted and they WON and still they viciously attack Sarah Palin.

California OBAMA supporters HELPED BAN GAY MARRIAGE. But they’re not upset about that. They’d rather bash Palin. Good grief.

It’s gays vs. blacks on our side, but on their side it’s still blacks vs. the Threat of Palin because in their eyes, they defeated the gays this round/nothing needs to be done. SEVENTY PERCENT of the blacks in California who showed up to support Obama also voted Yes on 8. This is no surprise to Obama, who held those vicious “faith tours”.

Hmmm….My simple observation is this. Women are conflicted because a lot of them are still having trouble figuring out what they want. A simple definition of jealousy is the coveting of what another possess…A simple definition of envy is to transcend simple coveting into action by preventing another from having whatever is desired through jealousy.
The disparagement of Gov. Palin continues because it is driven by the mundane vices in human nature. Fear and loathing from Males…Envy from Females.
A lot of women really are intellectually lazy when it comes to political issues of Feminism…Like religion or the environment they take a cafeteria style approach to it and like many ongoing political issues/movements Fatigue sets in. Embarrassing really…But not altogether surprising…( sigh )

Rev Amy, thanks for writing about this. I don’t want the focus on Misogyny & Homophobia 2008 to be swept under the rug. The fight is ON.

I listen to progressive AND conservative talk radio now when I commute and the thing is, BOTH of them are bashing Sarah Palin. The way Clinton and Palin have been treated is not partisan. It’s Shriveling Dick Syndrome and what is so aggravating is that it’s not gender-specific either. I rarely heard a MSM woman come to Hillary’s defense and I watched pretty closely during the primary. Thank you, Rev. Amy.
You know, it hurts me so much to hear and see such a nice woman such as Sarah Palin being viciously attacked. I started thinking about why it personally hurts me so much. I finally figured it out.
I was raised in a Baptist Church that held the same beliefs that Sarah has. Back then I believed the same theology Sarah does now. All the wonderful adults, including my parents (my father was a Minister of Music), Sunday School teachers, GA leaders, Training Union teachers, etc, held those same beliefs. Were they vile, stupid, horrible morons?? NO!!! They were WONDERFUL people and they nurtured me in such a loving way. Should any of them have been in politics? Why not? They were educated, and caring people. Was I a moron or a bad person to believe all of what they taught me?? Of course not! I tried to be well-behaved, thoughtful, and loving as they had taught. And I believe I am a better person today because of their nurturing.
This is why, on one level, Sarah’s pain IS my pain. They are mocking my upbringing when they mock her. They are mocking my 10th grade Sunday School teacher who was the sweetest, dearest woman in the world. They are mocking my mother. They are mocking anyone who lives his/her own personal faith.
    How dare they!!!!!

I agree. Like i said my mom is so Sarah it’s not even funny. I still believe in Christianity. I just know it’s irrational and that most people don’t live what they say they believe. but when you can find a person that lives their principles like palin, it’s hard not to be offened for her. when people who only worship themselves mock her. Obama said that there are more ways to god than Jesus, to bad the same that people who applauded that notion there more ways to good judgement and leadership skills than an ivy legue education, penis, and atheism.

      • Cindy

kgirl– Excellent points you’re making. And so well said.

  • georgiapeach

Let em smear, Amy. The more they attack, the stronger and more popular she seems to get. And somebody is obviously scared to death of her. They weren’t satisfied with beating her, they are now trying to destroy her. And the question is why? Is it because she is a threat to Obama in 2012? Because she is a woman? Or is it simply because she doesn’t meet the criteria to join “the club”? The Alaska Hillbillies comment reminded me of the Arkansas Hillbilly comments directed at another politician who was able to connect with working class Americans because he related to them on a personal level, and still does. He understood them, and didn’t look down his nose at them. Ditto, Sarah Palin. There are many people in both parties, and in the media, who make it their mission in life to “keep the commoners in their place”. As for me, I intend to support Gov. Palin now and in the future with my money, my voice, and my vote. I hope that when she runs again, no matter what office, that PUMA’s will flood her campaign coffers. And I hope that she takes on the media with the same ferocity that she took on the oil companies and her own party.

I feel like I’m in a corpse of a naion. The hatred towards Palin is so against everything this country stood for in the past… the fact that it is tolerated means to me we have fallen far.

    So very far.

And to think that this country is really just about the last place left that has Liberty means once our descent into chaos comes, there will be nowhere for us to flee to.

We had a special responsibility as a country for ourselves and the world.

I see the domestic war on religion, our being slaves to the oil-possessing Arab states, our betrayal of Israel, and our eagerness to run away from our global mission all to be markers that we will not hold onto our Liberty .

The Founders were very clear.. once anti-religiousness and societal secularization happens, the moral and spiritual foundations upon which a Free People can be free will quickly disintegrate… and as those go, so does Freedom and Prosperity.

And that is what is happening.

    • Winston

PLeeeaze, religious institutions are patriarchal and are some of the most misoginist and sexist. Now we see that the secular tradition is just as bad.

How do we fight this? In the long term, we need, as some have suggested, the 30% solution—i.e. to elect enough women in government to hold 30% of the elected offices. Perhaps this is the only way to combat what seems to be the new Bro-b/4-Hos politics.

    • lark

I am not against definitions and even more, against multiple definitions. But I am against mockery and even more, against mocking the other’s definitions. Comedy is good and laughter is even better. But I really frown on mocking other’s definitions as a way to obtain an advantage. I see that as anti-feminist or post-feminist and as a way to halt progress.

While Steward and Colbert represented for me a great brand of art before the writer’s guild strike, it now represents a decadent form of anti-progressive process. And now I see the effect it has had on the MSM and on our society. And their attempt to synchronize with their own resulting product very cynical.

I am a rejectionist. Call me that.

While they write their own phony media critique, they continue the same ole stuff.

I think the women who consider themselves feminists can’t handle Gov Palin. She raises a family and has a career. She’s strong in her beliefs and fights for them. Everything women have been fighting for.

But she’s a republican who wouldn’t abort a Downs sydrome baby. How DARE she?

What about Obama’s statement that he’d release ALL of HIS RECORDS on NOV 5TH? That’s right up there with the FISA, NAFTA, CAFTA,and PUBLIC FINANCING lies.

But let’s not talk about all of that.
