Oblahma did nothing to stop it. More than half the country is female. His own family has two daughters. His own wife said very derogatory things about Hillary (a fellow Democrat). He shud have said, done something - anything but he remained silent. His silence speaks volumes.

Medusa, this is a FINE post. Thank you so much. I caught myself thinking today how sad it is that women do not support women. This election year sure proved it..

Today's young women have different values than boomer women have. They take feminisim for granted. They have a strong preference for alpha males like Obama. I have also read that today's young women choose abusive partners in greater numbers than earlier generations did. It's all related. This generation of young women is very much into male dominance, sad if you ask me.

Yes oowawa, you really are "befuddled." I just got back from my walk, and I was thinking about your two questions. As to the "battle of the sexes": this concept can only be explored in the context of a larger concept, that could well be the topic for a university seminar: "How Battle Lines Are Drawn." Obviously, there are many ways to group people so that they may be provoked to go to war: family, tribe, race, country, political party, gender, to name a few. At different times in our history, factions have been chosen differently, depending on the circumstance. When it became clear society was discriminating against women, it finally became necessary to draw a battle-line between the genders. The battles fought across this battle line resulted in some substantial victories, like giving women the right to vote and Roe vs. Wade. But there were still many battles left to fight across this battle line: equal pay for equal work, and the "glass ceiling" for top jobs, for example.
Now, before these necessary final battles are completed, the battle line is being obscured by many predominantly younger women who are choosing to fight across a different battle line, political party, for example. This leaves the women who realize that they must still fight across the gender battle line without their necessary support, and the old fighters may feel that their cause has been betrayed.
And so, oowawa, before you go and "weisenheim" again, I suggest you think it through a little more clearly. Cheers!

Not "citizens of this country". I expect many on this site aren't even that. But no-one can claim that the views of Obama espoused here are mainstream. If they were, he wouldn't have won by >8m popular votes and a borderline landslide in the EV.

Obama can't please all of the people all of the time.

Well, there you have it. Beyond the actual lack of transparency is the very attitude you describe. You suspect he <strong>doesn't care</strong> what the citizens of the country he intends to 'rule' think.

In response to the last point: I expect he doesn't care what a few people think. When the Rev Wright tapes were playing constantly on Fox, Obama said: "If it wasn't this, it'd be something else". Then people were interested in a certain smear tape and were calling on him to refute that - he did no such thing as he did not wish rumors and unfounded ones at that to be spread. Now it's the citizenship. This is only being fanned over here and other like-minded sites. I suspect that Obama couldn't possibly care less about what the people here think. If the Attorney General starts questioning his citizenship, then I expect proof will be provided.

After all, Obama will never satisfy anyone here or on hillaryis44.

It goes more to being able to trust him than some hope that it will prevent his presidency at this point.

We pretty much know there is no one with authority willing to look into this.
But, WHY SHOULD THE NEED EVEN EXIST?

I'm not sure which citizenship you are arguing for. If Obama was not born in the US he is not an American citizen based solely on his mother's citizenship, as she did not meet the requirements in place at the time to pass on her citizenship.

<em>In many cases, you acquire additional nationality if you are born on foreign soil</em>
This was what I presumed when asking how he got his Kenyan citizenship. Although, as you pointed out, he may have been considered a Kenyan citizen based solely on his father's citizenship regardless of his birth location.

The question still remains, given the fact that a Hawaiian Birth Certificate can be obtained regardless of place of birth, which citizenship does he or has he held?

Apparently ( as you've pointed out) he held Kenyan citizenship at birth. <strong>American citizenship is the question.</strong>

The topic of citizenship being granted based on parental citizenship is further complicated when trying to ascertain Obama's adoption status in Indonesian and whether their laws support a third citizenship under those circumstances. There are either falsified documents or the citizenship existed.

What would be satisfying is for this issue to be resolved. And more troubling still is why our President (elect) hasn't been willing to relieve people's fears about it.

I saw no evidence of misogyny, other than isolated comments that reflected far more on the people who made them than on the Obama, his official campaign reps, or the DNC.

Allegations of misogyny were just a mode of attack attempting to exploit the democratic rift resulting from the Clinton/Obama contest. The selection of Palin as a McCain's running mate was a further effort to support the rift, in the wake of Obama's selection as the democratic candidate. The allegations of democratic sexism took on new life once Palin was in the spotlight; they became a convenient way of deflecting entirely legitimate criticisms of her qualifications, while exploiting her gender to political advantage with disaffected Clinton supporters. The continuing allegations are simply an effort to keep the same strategy alive for 2012.

Consider Biden's and Obama's strong support of legislation protecting womens' rights and childrens' rights on issues like equal pay, reproductive rights and health care, domestic violence, education, etc. The record is there, if you care to look at it.

You might want to carefully consider where McCain and Palin have stood in the past on the same sorts of issues.

If he traveled on his Kenyan passport after 21, registered for college as Kenyan he did not give up nor loose his Kenyan citizenship he lost his American one. And just how did he get a dual citizenship in Kenya? Your not given a citizenship of a foreign country just because one of your parents were born there.

My husband doesn't have a German and an American citizenship. His mother was German, his father was American. He was born in America and his mother didn't get her citizenship till he was a little over a year old. In 63, I believe. That's a story in and of itself.

My Father does not have an Ireland and an American citizenship. His mother was from Ireland. His father was full blooded Native American Blackfoot.

My grandmother(mother's mother)did not have a German citizenship, her parents came here from Germany, they were both German citizens. She was born here. She only held one; American.

You don't get a foreign citizenship unless you're born there. If this is truth from fact check....how is it the Vital Statistics Dept verified a BC on file from Hawaii?? This gets more and more interesting.

And just how did he get a dual citizenship in Kenya? Your not given a citizenship of a foreign country just because one of your parents were born there.

My husband doesn’t have a German and an American citizenship. His mother was German, his father was American. He was born in America and his mother didn’t get her citizenship till he was a little over a year old. In 63, I believe. That’s a story in and of itself.

My Father does not have an Ireland and an American citizenship. His mother was from Ireland. His father was full blooded Native American Blackfoot.

My grandmother(mother’s mother)did not have a German citizenship, her parents came here from Germany, they were both German citizens. She was born here. She only held one; American.

You don’t get a foreign citizenship unless you’re born there. If this is truth from fact check….how is it the Vital Statistics Dept verified a BC on file from Hawaii?? This gets more and more interesting.

Possibly. See Steve1's post above. Lack of truthfulness alone could pose significant problems. It is unlawful to knowingly file false documents.

'Not wanting anyone to know' is also an indication that things are amiss.

If you are assuming he legally held dual citizenship (American and Kenyan) and then chose to use the better choice in obtaining entrance and/or loans, you maybe correct. Provided that transparency was given at the time. Did he apply as one or the other without disclosing both? Would that have mattered? Were there loans given on the basis of either?

A lot of people assume he is and has always been an American citizen only and would not expect him to apply to American colleges as a Foreign student. If this were the case, would it be legal?

Those that believe he was born outside of the US would see that as proof he is not a US citizen. Again, were both American and Kenyan citizenship disclosed?.

This all comes back to finding out WHO he really is and which citizenship he's held and which he is loyal to.

As far as legality, no one can answer for sure unless the documents are seen and appropriate laws are applied to them.

Which is why IF the controversy exists (as it does) the records NEED to be released.

Most of my friends did not follow the primary or the general election closely at all. When I would give examples of sexism, they just brushed it off as if it were a one-time thing. Some thought I was repeating rumors, which they all knew couldn't be true.

It's a deliberate blindness and deafness to the sexism out there. If they have to face it, things might get too "different."

<em>"but she chose herself over her country"</em>

Until there is irrefutable proof, hard evidence that people can see, I wish folks would lay off that notion that Hillary <em>chose herself or the Democratic Party before country</em>.

I have bought into just about every conspiracy theory with regard to 0bama and then some. But the fact is, I can't <strong>PROVE THEM</strong>. I have no <strong>HARD EVIDENCE</strong>.

I have faced the inglorious facts that all of which we tried to do here failed because we could never prove our suspicions.

This does not mean we won't be able to in the future. But as of this moment, we came up empty.

So if we have zippo, what would Hillary have looked like to the rest of the country spouting all of our theories. Especially the way many feel about her. She'd have looked like a card-carrying insane woman, not to mention a sore loser.

Hillary backed herself into a corner. She gambled that she could pull out a Primary win and stayed to the end. She probably prayed as we did, that the goods would materialize on 0bama before the last vote was cast in the Primary and that she'd have a real shot with the SDs.

That did not happen.

The Party was against her. 0bama's mysterious powerful donors paid millions to keep the <em>fix </em>in.

I said this before. This is not some Hollywood movie where Hillary as the heroine would come marching in a the end of the day and heroically save the day.

This is real life.

And in real life, people don't spend millions of dollars to come up empty.

It's all in the hands of how this misogynist performs now.

Hillary and Bill Clinton's legacy may have been buried this election and sadly they had to participate in its demise.

I doubt these two are very happy at this moment.

So why don't people just lay off!

It is really about patience right now. We have to let the chickens come home to roost.

<blockquote>These younger women more and more see other women as their adversaries, not men.</blockquote>

If this is not the crux of the problem, I think it is certainly circling around the crux of the problem. It suggests some questions:

1) Has it ever been otherwise? Was there ever a time when young women did not see other women as their adversaries?

2) Does this mean that the "battle of the sexes" is really a battle featuring women vs. women, and men vs. men? Or is it just a general free-for-all, a battle of "King of the Mountain," regardless of sex?

I don't mean to be a weisenheimer. I'm just befuddled.
