Mr. Future President. Might I suggest a Kitty Cat rather than a dog?

Rather than one of those shedding things or one of those little animals people like Paris Hilton call a dog, why don’t you get the kids a cat?

The all American animal.  A wild PUMA.

This is the true American freedom fighter and would be an inspiration for your 2 girls to grow up with.  According to WikiPedia the PUMA is the greatest af all North American mammals.

The article goes on to say some things I think we knew.

In particular, the cougar was extirpated in eastern North America, except an isolated sub-population in Florida; the animal may be recolonizing parts of its former eastern territory. With its vast range, the cougar has dozens of names and various references in the mythology of the indigenous Americans and in contemporary culture.

Seriously, President Select Obama, please consider a kitty cat as a companion for the kids.

    I think they are opting for a dog over a PUMA because dogs are always trustworty and loyal, even when things don’t quite go their way. :)

      Obama was a “International/Foreign Exchange Student” at Columbia in New York City….he applied and registered as a Kenyan citizen.

      Obama also traveled to Pakistan as a college student at a time when it was illegal for US citizens to visit Pakistan. He traveled to Pakistan on his Kenyan Passport.

      Under Kenyan law, people are allowed to hold dual citizenship until age 21 (toward the end of college). Obama did hold Kenyan citizenship until age 21 and admits it on his web site, though he hides the admission on a “fight the smears” page. The FACT of his Kenyan citizenship is not a smear. But is surely something he does not want people to know about. I think that most people would be surprised to learn of his Kenyan Citizenship into the 1980s and that the next President of the United States of America applied to and attended two elite US colleges as a “foreign exchange student.”

      All legal, all true, but truly surprising to many people, whether they support him or not.

        You state these things as fact, but offer no evidence to support them. If you want to be believed, perhaps you could offer some actual proof?

        As for the Kenyan citizenship claim – yes, he was automatically considered a Kenyan citizen because of his father’s citizenship — but as the FactCheck website makes clear, it was an artifact of British and Kenyan law. But any claim on Kenyan citizenship expired automatically on his 21st birthday because he (Barack Obama Jr) never took an oath to Kenya.

        There is no evidence that he ever held or traveled on a Kenyan passport.

        It has never been illegal for Americans to travel to Pakistan on a US passport (that honor has been restricted at times to only a tiny number of countries – North Korea, Cuba Libya, Iran).

        There is no evidence that Barack Obama Jr. ever claimed to be a foreign student at Columbia.

        If you have any proof of any of your charges, you should provide a link to a credible source for the charges. But that can’t be done, because none exist.

        If he attended college as a Kenyan citizen rather than a U.S. citizen that is his declaration of choosing Kenyan citizenship over his mother’s U.S. citizenship. The United States does not recognize dual citizenship due to the problems of divided loyalty, which he exhibited by participating in a Kenyan presidential election.

        And Barry Soertoro, aka, Barack Obama could not just waltz into a college and declare himself a Kenyan student. He had to meet stringent requirements set up by immigration or else he committed the crime of fraud. But either way, he made a declaration that he was a Kenyan citizen and you can’t waffle back and forth; Kenyan for a few years, Indonesian for a few year and then,eureka!, think I’ll be president of the United States now.

        Required Documentation

        Each applicant for a student visa must pay a nonrefundable United States $45 application fee and submit:

        1) An application Form OF-156, completed and signed.

        2) A passport valid for travel to the United States and with a validity date at least six months beyond the applicant’s intended period of stay in the United States. If more than one person is included in the passport, each person desiring a visa must make an application;

        3) One photograph 1 and 1/2 inches square (37x37mm) for each applicant, showing full face, without head covering, against a light background; and

        4) For the “F” applicant, a Form I-20A-B. For the “M” applicant, a Form I-20M-N.

        5) Evidence of sufficient funds.

        Other Documentation

        Student visa applicants must establish to the satisfaction of the consular officer that they have binding ties to a residence in a foreign country which they have no intention of abandoning, and that they will depart the United States when they have completed their studies. It is impossible to specify the exact form the evidence should take since applicants’ circumstances vary greatly.

        But it isn’t what he’s trying to get away with that is so appalling; an honest judge and intelligent jury could take care of that – it is that our media and our government has been complicit in perpetuating this fraud.

      The suggestion that President Elect Obama’s children should have a wild animal as a pet it ludicrous and totally inappropriate.

        I couldn’t care less what kind of dogs the kiddos get, as I couldn’t care less what color Michelle wants to redo the White House bathroos or what kind of First Lady she wants to be. Such pieces are designed to make to make the Obama family accessible and friendly. The only peopleI feel at all remotely friendly towards are the little girls who didn’t chose their parents, and I imagine it can be difficult being a kid in the White House fishbowl. Whatever shi* hits the fan Obama desrserves since he cheated to get there, and I think Michelle is an unpleasant woman who is reminiscent of Lady Macbeth.

      There’s a reason the King of Beasts is a feline, not a canine. A LION, not a wolf–no offense to wolves or canines in general, mind you, but they’re pack animals who generally can’t cope on their own.

      (And yes, I appreciate the irony in the fact that the Beast King is an African lion–the only feline that lives in groups (prides) rather than as solitaries.)

      Let me tell you a little story. One of my cats got into some tar and it was in her underarm area. I was cutting the tar off and I accidently cut her flesh…deep….Debbie, my cat, never did a thing. Of course I am bordeline hysterical, the cat is purring, I am stanching the blood and still cutting the tar…and Debbie never did a thing to me. I felt guilty as all hell, she must have known it was an accident. She healed beautifully, I cried like hell….but she never turned on me.
      This conservative Republican understands her kitties (and by the way, I have 8 cats…all former strays, all spayed and neutered…and I prefer cats over dogs. Dogs are too slavish. I like the independence of a cat. And their love.

        My kitty cat has been with me through thick and thin. She has accompanied me through all my wanderings and managed to adapt to a variety of living situations. I can’t believe she’s still alive even, she’s 17 years old. And most of the time, she still behaves like a kitten.

        She’s adorable.

        And smart.

        She’s definitely a survivor.

      Let Obama supporters bear the burden for a while. We have served our nation with honor and been treated like crap for too long. John McCain can tell you that story best.

    The Audobon Centre for Research of Endangered Species in New Orleans, has genetically engineered a “glow in the dark” cat. HE is beautiful and would be a great companion for the Panther…oops…Puma! That way they could “pal around together” in the midnight hour, have a great time, and be best friends. He would make a fabulous conversation piece and the ‘whole world of kids’ would be jumping up and down, wanting to order their own special “light up my life” hybrid cat. Let’s just hope they won’t be engineering “glow in the dark” humans as ‘we’ may be turn out to be the endangered species!?

    Larry, I have often admired and respected your posts. For some reason, you apparently strongly oppose Barack Obama. Experience? You probably said and I just missed it.
    Urging that a puma be the pet for the Obama children, even in a tongue in cheek way, is irresponsible. Feral animals do not belong in homes, including the White House. They are a danger to themselves and to their owners. As I said, I imagine that you meant this tongue in cheek but someone here might take it literally. In addition to that, many states and cities have laws against keeping big cats.
    Maybe a good first step would be for you to step back, take a breath, and wait to see if this guy’s brains and humility will work out OK for us. I’m certain that he COULD be worse than the current occupant but dude, he is gonna have to REALLY try hard.

Will you be brave enough to take a look at how ‘Cat Stephens’, himself, treated some Puma-like german women, at a seminar in March of 2007? What kind of CAT would you call him?! Do you approve of his behavior? If the shoe were on the other foot…how would it feel? Could you ever walk a mile in the shoes of one of these Puma’s? I seriously doubt it!
