Say Whaaaa???

Welcome to the “Say Whaaaa?” News Report! Among issues to be discussed today, an update on the Detroit Bailout about which I wrote yesterday. There was a lot of discussion about saving the Detroit automakers, and how they need money to re-tool. So, here’s the thing: As I said yesterday, they want $25 BILLION to fulfill their UNION contracts. You know, the ones they should have been doing just a little bit of planning to fulfill. But, they already have access to ANOTHER $25 BILLION to re-tool, so that’s an empty argument. They have that available from the Feds (thanks to YOU), so this Union bailout is just incredibly poor fiscal management.

And speaking of poor management, Congress is considering an additional $500 Billion bailout, though this one would NOT be repaid. Its destination would be infrastructure. Not that we don’t NEED work done on our infrastructure, but is this really the time, when we are already a gazillion dollars in the tank? Hmm, I think not…

Well, I’ll be dog-goned. SOMEONE is holding ACORN accountable for their vast voter registration fraud! Who it is might not be the first place you would think of, though. Turns out the Catholic Campaign for Human Development, overseen by the Catholic Bishops in the US, has decided to NOT provide the $1 MILLION dollar gift to ACORN for which they had been planning based on the fraud this election. Oh, and that and the little issue of CORN founder Wade Radthke’s brother ripping off a cool mil himself from ACORN(I saw this on the morning news, but here is a LINK, too). Well, that’s a start, right?

Next up is Rainbow Rage! Oh, yes, this is such a warm, fuzzy tale. The Obama Way has infiltrated the GLBT community in California, oh yes it has. I am so proud…Here’s the tale:

Now that’s the way to win hearts and influence strangers, eh? Now I recognize that this woman is PRO Proposition 8, which is, naturally, very disturbing to me. BUT – as they said in that awesome movie, “The American President“:

“America isn’t easy. America is advanced citizenship. You gotta want it bad, ’cause it’s gonna put up a fight. It’s gonna say “You want free speech? Let’s see you acknowledge a man whose words make your blood boil, who’s standing center stage and advocating at the top of his lungs that which you would spend a lifetime opposing at the top of yours…”

With no pushing, no bullying, and no spitting, no matter HOW much you might disagree. THAT is the American way, not this thuggish behavior that has become all too common, all too accepted…This is not the way we should be going on this issue, or any issue.

There’s another piece to this. Perhaps you have already seen Bud White’s EXCELLENT piece on Misogyny at No Quarter, but this seems to be a continuation of the Caucus behavior we saw this year from Washington State to the Lone Star State – big men bullying women. Actually, this is pretty much what we saw from Obama and his minions to Hillary, Sarah, and all women. I guess they have really paid it forward, haven’t they? Wow.

And from that respected news source, The Onion, I bring you this (hilarious) story, “International Con Man Barack Obama Leaves US With $85 Million In Campaign Fundraising:

In a devastating blow to millions of unsuspecting Americans, newly elected president and international con man Barack Obama fled the country Wednesday with nearly $85 million in campaign funds.

According to FBI investigators, Obama’s sudden disappearance was discovered at 6:15 p.m. when the former Illinois senator failed to arrive at a gala event in Lincoln Square, prompting several aides to rush back to his campaign headquarters. At 6:23 p.m., flight logs at O’Hare International Airport confirmed that two passengers, a male carrying two silver briefcases and dressed in a perfectly tailored Brioni tuxedo, and an African-American female wearing a fur coat and speaking in a thick Russian accent, were seen boarding a private plane.

Obama’s campaign office, sources said, was completely vacant aside from a discarded Abraham Lincoln portrait, behind which was an emptied safe that his aides claimed never to have seen before.

In addition, three unconscious Secret Service agents were discovered at the scene, along with two lit cigarettes still burning in an ashtray, and Obama’s daughters, who authorities now believe were taken from an Alabama foster home six years ago.

Poor Joe – this was really his one big chance to get into the White House since the vast majority of Americans never wanted him in there. He had this to say about Obama’s disappearance:

“He completely suckered me,” said a visibly dejected vice president-elect Joe Biden, who estimated that he raised over $10 million for Obama. “I trusted him. Change, ‘Yes We Can,’ a new kind of politics, bringing the nation together, valuing an open dialogue about the issues—I trusted all of it.”

Yeah, you and the other alleged 51.99% of people (at least that’s the number ACORN promotes), Joe.

Oh, you know that sounds plausible! I recommend you go read the rest of the story (it’s funny), but I will reprint for you here Obama’s farewell letter here:

Honestly, I’d be happy to pay him $85 million to NOT be the President. This might even be a bargain. Heck, it’s a whole lot less than Dodd and Crew wanted to give ACORN from the bailout. Yep, now that I think about it, I think this would be a perfect ending to this election saga! Bon voyage, Obama! Now THAT would be some real, “Say WHAAAA?” News, wouldn’t it?? Feel free to make it so! I sure won’t be complainin’…

Obama was an “International Student” at Columbia….he applied and registered as a Kenyan citizen.

Obama also traveled to Pakistan as a college student at a time when it was illegal for US citizens to visit Pakistan. He travled to Pakistan on his Kenyan Passport.

Under Kenyan law, people are allowed to hold dual citizenship until age 21 (toward the end of college). Obama did hold Kenyan citizenship until age 21 and admits it on his web site, though he hides the admission on a “fight the smears” page. The FACT of his Kenyan citizenship is not a smear. But is surely something he does not want people to know about. I think that most people would be surprised to learn of his Kenyan Citizenship into the 1980s and that the next President of the United States of America applied to and attended two elite US colleges as a “foreign exchange student.”

All legal, all true, but truly surprising to many people, whether they support him or not.

Aaannnnndddddd…You would have us do what with this information? We have been telling people forever that Obama wasn’t who he said he was and no one cared. Drunk with kool aid and wanted to elect drunk with power. SSSSSSSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO?
What the F do you want already?!

    • Ferd Berfle

Nice try, bot. Now go play in the street.

  • csuzeq

I would definitely donate to that cause.

Oh, that took me to my happy place!

  • Sammie

Speaking of bailouts, what do you think of the wall street bonuses? The argument about losing good talent seems laughable in light of the current crisis. Perhaps some of that talent should be held accountable so that next time people working on Wall Street see excessive risk being undertaken they’ll speak out, because they’ll realize they have a vested interest (in general, people perform better when they know they’ll be held accountable).

I think when did they start giving out bonuses for sub-par performances? I have heard tha whole argument abt keeping the “best and brightest” on Wall St., but if the debacle we have seen lately is what they have in mind, no thank you!!

  • POdVet

    If only this were true!

  • NCgirl

Thank you RRR Amy! I am totally against this bailout that the auto industry is begging for. They should have gotten their act together a long time ago. Chapter 11 is the way for them to go. Lessons learned the hard way are lessons LEARNED. I am against all the bailouts that have been handed out. Businesses will continue to make bad judgement calls, unless they have to suffer as a result and are forced to regroup. That story from The Onion is the funniest thing I’ve read in a long time. Thanks for posting it for us.

  • bayareavoter

Maybe Congress should divide the bail-out money amongst the citizens and give each family a voucher to buy one new American car. Just an idea…..

Yeah, how do you spell Trabant in English? Oh, its Trabant, my bad.

Thank you for this excellent post!

Let’s not forget The One’s promise that lobbyists will have no job in his White House! Another promise under the bus! The Obamabots will of course excuse this too! Soon to be forfeited…TRANSPARENCY in an Obama Presidency! Stay Tuned!

Where to I go for MY bailout? This economy has hurt me big time, and I need some help paying my bills this month. Not to mention I’m helping support a parent with Alzheimer’s who’s currently in an Assisted Living Facility but will soon need to be moved to a state-run facility because the family’s out of money. I don’t need much, a couple million would suffice. Are you hearing me, Nancy? Harry? Bozobama? Where’s my share of the wealth? I could use it NOW!

    We coulda had Hillary.

  • rollingthunder

He’s gone? Tell me this isn’t a mock story…please tell me he is gone..

    • http://www.rabblerouserruminations.blogspot.com/ Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy

      LOL, oh I wish I could…

Yes, this whole bailout thing is getting to be ridiculous. Like I said, the Detroit automakers have had the monies available to make changes. But to supplement the union pensions for which they SHOULD have been planning just lets them off the hook – again. I’m gonna go out on a limb and say the execs are getting paid pretty darn well there. Maybe they oughta put some of their OWN money in for the pensions.

SFIndie, I am really sorry to hear abt your difficulties, and abt your parent. My heart goes out to you…

      • SFIndiePUMA

Thank you, Rev! Sadly enough, my family’s story is repeated again and again around this country.

I’ve always loved this from Hubert Humphrey’s last speech: “It was once said that the moral test of government is how that government treats those who are in the dawn of life, the children; those who are in the twilight of life, the elderly; and those who are in the shadows of life, the sick, the needy and the handicapped.”

There’s been lots of talk about the agenda for PUMAs over the next 4 years. If this government can bail out Wall Street and the Automakers, it surely can find a way to provide quality of life for the elderly across our nation! That’s going to be big on my agenda!

        • http://www.rabblerouserruminations.blogspot.com/ Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy

You’re right – it is happening all across the country, sadly.

Palin said something similar in her “Special Needs” policy speech – it was really powerful. Kind of combo between Humphrey and the New Testament…

GM will get the bailout … not because they deserve it but because of the UAW. I’m sorely tempted to buy GM stock.

    • Ferd Berfle

GM will just throw that money down the toilet, too.

      • AnninCA

        I agree, Ferd.

If they produced a decent product, they might actually make a sale.

        • Ferd Berfle

          Ann:

You are spot on. I have a ’93 Explorer and a ’99 Taurus. They run great and, in spite of not-so-great mileage, are going to be driven until the wheels fall off because they’re paid for. In addition, they’re the last of the good American vehicles and I’m keeping them.

The Catholic bishops tried in vain to steer people away from the Obama disaster on the abortion issue but now it seems like they want revenge. Over 50% of Catholics voted for the One and the Bishops are out for blood. Well, I don’t care who or what group exposes this fraud, just keep it coming.

“Half of the $50 billion the auto industry wants is for health care for its current and retired employees. This is the result of increasing UAW demands, strikes and threats of strikes unless health care and pension benefits were regularly increased. While in the past UAW settled for some benefit decreases while bargaining with the Big Three U.S. automakers, according to the Wall Street Journal in September of 2006, “on average, GM pays $81.18 an hour in wages and benefits to its U.S. hourly workers.” Those increased costs, including the cost of health care, were passed along to consumers, adding $1,600 to the price of every vehicle GM produced. In February 2008, after General Motors offered buyouts to 74,000 employees, the Center for Automotive Research estimated the average wage, including benefits, for current GM workers had dropped to $78.21 an hour. New hires pulled down a paltry $26.65. GM, now facing a head-on collision with reality, has taken an important first step toward fiscal responsibility by announcing the elimination of lifetime health care benefits for about 100,000 of its white-collar retirees at the end of this year.”

Interesting write up on the bailout for the auto companies. I tend to believe the blame should really be shared by management, the unions and the federal and state government.

    • http://www.rabblerouserruminations.blogspot.com/ Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy

Holy cow – who knew they made so much?? And if the extra cost was tagged on, WHY didn’t they put the money into the appropriate funds??

      Nice research, Sammie!

      • Ferd Berfle

American corporations are notorious for not looking to the future. Today, this week, next week, next month, and so on is as far as they are able to plan. The big picture for them is a wall-to-wall TV in their living room.

    • cookiegramma

There was an even more interesting interview this morning with people from Toyota and Volkswagon. The representatives of these companies say that they are paying wages competitive with what Gm pays and also giving the same benefits. they attribute the fact that they are not suffereing similar problems to the fact that they have not been in business here for long enough th have a sizeable retiree pool that needs benefits to be paid off.

    • heather

Notice that the benefits are being pulled from the white collar retirees. Just like the health care is different between the white collar and the blue collar employees at GM. Blue collar gets the best health care out there, white collar has, in effect, been asked to self fund their health care through the Health Care Savings accounts. There is insurance if they go over a very high dollar amount in a year, but mostly their health care is being paid for by their own wages.

Seems interesting to me that the guys who spent thousand of dollars and thousands of hours getting their degrees in order to qualify for their jobs somehow rate lower than others in the company.

My husband went back to school as a mature student to get his degree and make a better life for us. We scrimped, saved, wore garage sale clothes to fund his education while I worked full time, and he rates no retirement plan at all, other than the 401k that we were sold. Thousands and thousands of our dollars have disappeared into that black hole. We pay a higher and higher percentage of our health care each year, and yet I’m supposed to feel sorry for the guys at GM who get the best health care and retirement plans anywhere.

We were out shopping last night for a dinner that I don’t want to go to and didn’t want to spend money on (but we have to for my husband’s job), and met a Ford line worker who has been paid for not working for a year. She was buying an expensive pair of shoes and talking about how she was going to Florida. I’m told that there are many more union workers within GM, Ford, and Chrysler who can not be let go due to contracts that are providing significant drag on the bottom line. As long as this is allowed to go on, these companies can get government money ad infinitum, and they won’t succeed.

LOL I love it, she is right on track and not backing down with that statement, she gets full marks for that why should she regret anything she said on the campaign trail.

So many times I have heard the line oh well that was just campaign talk well Sarah is showing something different now, Obama’s association with Ayers is troubling, if it was troubling during the campaign, its just as troubling now as he is toe become POTUS.

This was what I lost hope in Hillary for you just cant say Obama was unable to lead then when you lost change your tune and pretend he is the best leader you have.

Thank you Palin for showing politicians how easy it is to say something and stick to it.

Interesting that Obama’s friend in the MI legislature stopped a re-vote, the blacks in MI voted for Obama, now the Dems are all set to bailout the auto industry. What, these people couldn’t figure out 20 years ago they needed to re-tool and compete with foreign car manufacturers. They refused to do it, now the taxpayers are supposed to pay for it! The bailuot is getting to be a scandal. Even Paulsen and Bush say the auto makers shouldn’t be bailed out.

    • heather

Could it be that they are against the bailout because they WANT to force the big 3 into bankruptcy so that they could get the union to renegotiate? It’s pretty risky, because an automotive co. in bankruptcy is unlikely to be able to sell much, but if they were able to renegotiate, they’d be able to bring costs per car in line with the rest of the industry. I dunno. I’m just worried as I sit here watching my neighborhood empty.
