Obama was an “International Student” at Columbia….he applied and registered as a Kenyan citizen.

Obama also traveled to Pakistan as a college student at a time when it was illegal for US citizens to visit Pakistan. He travled to Pakistan on his Kenyan Passport.

Under Kenyan law, people are allowed to hold dual citizenship until age 21 (toward the end of college). Obama did hold Kenyan citizenship until age 21 and admits it on his web site, though he hides the admission on a “fight the smears” page. The FACT of his Kenyan citizenship is not a smear. But is surely something he does not want people to know about. I think that most people would be surprised to learn of his Kenyan Citizenship into the 1980s and that the next President of the United States of America applied to and attended two elite US colleges as a “foreign exchange student.”

All legal, all true, but truly surprising to many people, whether they support him or not.

All right, I can see “O the foreign student at Columbia” is the theme du jour. Now even in the ’60′s when I was first in college, foreign students had to have a student visa. There were foreign student advisors who were supposed to keep tabs on the foreign students. The INS and the IRS both wanted to know all about money and there were rules about where it came from, especially loans. (Of course, O. has always had some shady sources for money, I think.) The point is, this is not the way to hide, by being a foreign student, it’s a way to have twice as many people on your tail. I remember a Canadian friend who dropped out, the school reported him MIA, eventually he got stopped for a traffic ticket and deported instantly. So where’s all the fallout paperwork?

I agree that Jeralyn sometimes seems a bit daft and naive. I visited her blog during the primaries and have seen her in a Bloggingheads.tv conversation and also remember her from long-ago TV appearances. So many of the Democratic blogs split in two during the primaries with Hillary supporters no longer welcome i.e. Daily Kos, HuffPo, Move On, etc. Others that supported Hillary but instantly snorted Kool-Aid when it was time also chased away any dissenters i.e. Jeralyn Merritt’s Talk Left and Taylor Marsh.

It’s really nice how That One has brought all Democrats together, isn’t it? Not a good omen for bringing ALL Americans together in the days to come though.

I really am grateful to No Quarter for allowing the full evolution of attitudes and emotions to take place within that community that was displaced and had no home. THANKS LARRY for letting us have our say!

I’m not saying he was a spy or a sneak or that he had any idea that he would ever be in the position he is in today, so the amount of scrutiny given foreign exchange students is interesting but not a plus or a minus. It was a smart strategy for him to get into very competitive schools. It makes sense for people to use truthful facts to their advantage when trying to get into such exclusive schools. I don’t hold it against him. I think we’d agree that he was smart and strategic enough to realize that applying as a Kenyan was a lot smarter than applying as just another US student. Few Kenyans would be able to apply having the elite private high school credentials that he had. As long as he had halfway decent grades, he would be able to get in.

The issue at hand is that Obama does not want anyone to know that he was a “foreign exchange student” in US colleges. He is a man who claims to be the most open, honest candidate ever. But, once again, he is not.

Obama is not who he says he is.

I am not good at short or long explanations. If I were I could make some money writing.

But notice for example that as the economy of the U.S. gets sort of overhauled, I guess university students in schools of business would be demanding new text books, or would they?

I would like to be a professor at a University or College and have applied to be one. But I have said that I am not willing to teach the past, historical events anymore. As a university professor I would not want to teach how things were done or even how they are done so that my students get a degree on how things work and by such means secure a position in industry. No. I would teach new things, things not known today or not yet in place. I would write new formulas and new approaches and have my students do the same. Their degrees will be in things that are possible and yet to be tested. Like when Pharmaceutical invent drugs and put them to the test.

Universities need to challenge the present. When I was doing a PhD my professors, many of them had done these stupid projects with large manufacturers including GM and they were so proud of their questionnaires and data frequencies. But to me they were all baloney. Of course I had quit. Mostly because I am not going to pay for a dissertation when I will find no one that can relate to it. And so the world spins, but I’m not in it.

I think I understand today this issue of ‘Natural Born’ citizen better than when I woke up. It is clear to me that if Obama does not prove it then he is taking a liability to each citizen. Once sworn, any damage he causes by his actions as President are his responsibility to us. He would need to purchase liability insurance, like every one else does when they are in the business of serving the public. Citizens that perceive or experience damages will have the right to have a court address their damages. That’s the way I understood what I read when I followed the link provided in a previous thread. Just the way I understand it, nothing else.

The only worksite raids that have taken place in the past year and a half are because they involved American identity theft. These are not just random worksites; they are sites where the Department of Justice knows American identity theft is taking place.

Well if that is the underlying reason; Congress should not send soldiers off to war in Iraq, Afghanistan, or any area outside the United States because it “unnecessarily divides families at the expense of children.” Congress should place a moratorium on enforcement and punishment on any criminal who has a family because it “unnecessarily divides families at the expense of children.” Let’s not just give this benefit to illegal alien thieves.

Millions of Americans are out of work in America. Nancy Pelosi should be calling for increased worksite enforcement in America. We need to make sure the few jobs left, are being done by American citizens and legal immigrants.

If he was a foreign student, he should have had a visa. If he had a visa, he was affirming to Kenya and the US that he was a Kenyan citizen. Was this not essentially making that declaration he had to make by 1982, that he was their citizen? So would that citizenship really have lapsed?
At any rate, he would have declared allegiance to another country in his adult life and that should disqualify him as natural born, in the sense of having a pure allegiance to the US.

Jeralyn was one of the best bloggers before the Koolaide. She was focused on criminal justice and the unsustainable prison-industrial complex, and she has real knowledge through her experience as a criminal justice attorney.

I hope comes down from her Koolaide high because she was one of the VERY FEW FEMALE VOICES in the blogosphere who had traction.

The media and most officials will not help us. YOU must do your own research and keep it quiet, yet send it around as much as possible. Obama has paid staff monitoring everything.

They have uncanny abilities to come up with “reasonable” explanations for everything. They have done a great job of painting dissenters as “crazy old women” or nutcases or conspiracy theorists.

Censorship of what is posted has been happening since the primaries. We are fighting against a very brilliant campaign of deception.

Yet the tape itself never surfaces, nor does anyone who’s actually seen it for themselves.

Mmmokay, I don’t know much about Markos, so I read the wiki page about him. He was a consultant for Coward Dean in 2003? That explains his hatred for Hillary.

In a book I read–mind, it was a negatively charged one–it was alleged that Howard Dean despises Hillary because Hillary had helped in “taking him out” of the 2004 race because of the Dean Scream. The author (I forget which book it was, I’ve read at least a dozen books about Hillary Clinton and Bill Clinton) went on to say that Hillary wanted him taken out because of her own presidential prospects…that she wanted to run in 2008 and she was afraid that if Dean had gotten in in 2004, she wouldn’t be able to run until at least 2012, and by then she wasn’t sure if the country would have Democrat fatigue or not.

But that’s just what I read in that one book. It makes more sense to me now, though, if Markos WAS a consultant for Dean…it makes sense why Markos hated/hates Clinton.

All that aside, BTD was lukewarm about Obama but he also spoke/wrote out of both sides of his mouth on some issues (and he could be insulting about it, too). I left after Jeralyn mainlined the Kool Aid at the convention. She is a hypocrite.
