INTRODUCTIONS – AND LATE NIGHT OPEN THREAD!

I have to run out this morning for an appointment, so I would like to introduce you to one of my animals, my 3 yr old cat, Bug. Bug lives up to his name in three ways: he is as cute as a bug, he scoots like a bug, and he can BE a bug. I love him dearly, of course. This is what he looks like:

And this is what he acts like:

Yep, that’s my boy!! He is SUPPOSED to be an indoor cat, though we screened in the porch for all of the cats to be able to go out. But one of our dogs often blocks for Bug when we are coming in the front door. Did I mention that he scoots like a bug? Uh, yeah. (H/t to my sister for sending the video and the one below.)

This is my cat, Punkin’. She was a feral kitten we rescued, along with two of her siblings. They went to a young family who wanted them badly, and we kept her. She thinks I’m her mother. I’m not kidding. She’s small – less than 9 lbs.

The following video is a combination of their two behaviors. Punkin’ loves to cuddle, and climbs all over me when I am in the midst of writing, or just getting up. If I am standing when she wants to be held, she reaches up to me. It’s very sweet, actually.

Bug, when he wants to be fee, wends around my legs, up against any thing he can find, then jumps up on the washer, headbutting me until I give him treats or more food.

What the heck – might as well finish this out. These are my two kittens. The boy likes to play fetch. He even has a special meow for when he wants to play. He loves the flat caps off of gal. water jugs, and will bring them back to me, dropping them at my feet. I kid you not. He can do this for some time – like a Golden Retriever or something. The girl is very sweet, and both love to cuddle:

Isn’t this a nice way to take your mind off of the possibility that Senator Clinton might end up being Obama’s Secretary of State? Oh, she’ll do a BANG-UP job, no doubt about that. Even her detractors (talking to you, Rachel) admit that. She’s brilliant, and very experienced. It just seems like another way for Obama to keep cheating off the smart kid, getting her to continue creating the policies he swipes. But that’s just my take – I figured he was going to have to do SOMETHING now that he can’t just take her work willy-nilly like he did in the Primary/Election. And just another painful reminder of what SHOULD have been had the DNC not become the ONC…

I’ll save my dogs for another day! It’s an Open Thread for the Late Night Crowd – talk it up!

I was just catching up on the Clinton as SOS threads, and if he offers it to Judas Richardson after deliberately leaking HRC as a candidate, it will be yet another slap in the face to 18 million voters. I am fine with Hillary in the Senate–she has autonomy there. If he does offer her the post, and she wants it, she will be superb. Either way, HRC is a force. The gossip is annoying though, especially with Richardson in the mix. He’s such a buffoon.

We lost both of our greyhounds within two months of each other last year, and then my oldest cat to cancer – all three within the year. Very hard…

(one year I lost my Dad, Grandmother, Uncle and old best friend w/in about 5 months?, I forget my head was spinning)

shadow had to be put down, that was CRUSHING
ringo wandered off (no one saw him leave, no one ever saw him return, sad)
we still have figaro and logan and THEY are my daughter’s really I just inherit all her pets! sigh.

Shadow was the last PET I actually went to pick up myself as he was advertised locally in the paper as a stray black cat! (those get me all the time)

Animals are soothing to our souls during these difficult days after the election. Most days I feel like sobbing all day. But then my baby grandson and our animals snap me out of it (that, and a good dose of No Quarter!)

Oh my god…We had a female black lab. We got her at 2 months and she lived to be 16 yrs. old! We miss her terribly! Her parents were both champion show dogs. Gosh—–such great memories we have of her. The most wonderful dog ever. She and our daughter practically grew up together.

I have three GORGEOUS black lab/chow mix babies. They are getting old. Two of my babies, Lulu and Phoebe, were litter mates that were in the GARBAGE CAN. My big boy, Spenser, was a rescue from the Burbank Animal Shelter. They’re kind of old but I have had them since they were babies. I have slept with these babies EVERY NIGHT OF MY LIFE for 13 years. No matter who ELSE was in the bed LOL. I love my Labs. They made ME a better person and there’s nothing, nothing I love more than these babies.

OBAMA IS A FRAUD—- I feel instantly connected to you because we had a female black lab….raised her from 2 months old until she passed away at 16 yrs! She grew up with our daughter, practically. The best dog ever! Gosh we miss her still, and have such wonderful memories of her.
Her parents were champion show dogs so she had a great pedigree, but you would have never known it, the way she acted! So goofy and hilarious!
We’ve had so many dogs, but that black lab was the most special. Lab owners are just the best people, too! (with apologies to other animal owners!)
Oh, and the breeders tell you that labs stop chewing at 2 years…HA!! They NEVER do! They are always puppies in their actions .But so loving and loyal….simply the best, in my opinion.

Cindy, OMG I am your soul sister. Anyone who loves Labs like I do…I had five dogs at one point…I would have 100 if I could. I am IN LOVE with my babies. Yes, they all still act like PUPPIES at their old age. God bless mine. I just had to buy a little set of steps so they can get up on the bed, because with Labs, when they get old, their back ends give out. And yeah, my house looks like children live here…toys all over the floor. But they are dog toys to give them something to CHEW. Spenser was the worst. He literally ate a leather couch when I first got him LOL. I wouldn’t trade these babies for ANYTHING. My mother has already designated the mental ward I will go to when they pass away. I never thought I could love anything this much. They’re amazing.

When I lived in England I had six Old English sheepdogs and my family used to breed them.

Now you can see this Big Guy walking the beaches with a cute little sheltie. Lucy is show dog material and I love her like I love my wife…

I no longer deal with ANY man who doesn’t love dogs. I was dating someone, when I had four dogs, and he had the NERVE to say to me “when we move in together, you will have to get rid of at least two of the dogs.” How fast do you think I kicked him the hell out of my house and life? I have dog butt in my face a lot. I just move them out of the way. Nothing my babies could do would disgust me or piss me off. I chose to have dogs and not children. I’m glad I did it.

I have met some people that never have had pets. They are cold and have issues of lack of empathy.

Animal Abuse? DON’T GET ME STARTED. I watch Animal Cops all the time. At one point I almost wanted that job. Anyone, ANYONE, who harms a helpless ANIMAL should go to JAIL. PERIOD. I am so glad that there are stiffer laws about animal abuse in this country. I don’t think they are harsh ENOUGH though. The problem is that the courts recognize animals as PROPERTY. I hate that.

I’m hopeful that the throughout the world people are realizing that we have almost killed off nature.
I believe that people are changing and there is a real effort to save what’s left. I also believe that we will be able to save some of the remaining endangered species through genetics and DNA replicating.
Just as we domesticated the dog and cat I believe other animals will become pets in the future

I’ll take all of them. I love animals sooo much. And when they are BABIES? OMG. Don’t you die over that “puppy smell?” There’s nothing more adorable than any baby animal. I wish I could do more than I do. I signed up to be a volunteer at the SPCA but then declined. I got really mad that they PUT DOWN Pitbulls that they confiscate from fighting. I don’t believe in killing them. I think that they can have lives either from being rehabilitated or just sent to a home with no children, etc. OR sent to a Pitbill shelter.

Gosh I wish I had stayed with just cats and dogs but a daughter came along LOL

When I moved to the States I moved my 2 cats and my westie…. too cost me more to move them here than the family and furniture….

Then we got a cocker spaniel when we moved here
Lost the Wesite with the food scare and it nearly killed me cried for a month and could not talk.
Now Billy the Cocker S has Glaucoma and has 4 lots of meds a month cost $400 but it’s well worth it so he can keep his eye….

If u ever see anything wrong with your dogs eyes get them checked ASAP.
Glaucoma comes FAST in pets and results in them loosing the eye.

Just love my 4 legged family….

Yes your right Seattle Moss I was just getting over the Loss of Ben my Westie and said the same to hubby but it was too late the same week I noticed his eye it was too late to do anything apart from take him to the eye specalist…..
I nearly fainted when he told me he had Glaucoma!!

Just looked like he has an eye infection… what a shock…

Thank you for sharing their stories. You are hilarious…but typical lab lover! The picture is so cute! And yes, that hip dysplasia is so common, and so painful, poor babies.
hey, did you hear that they’ve made a movie from the book “Marley and Me”…(only Marley is a yellow lab, but that’s ok).
By the way, my husband and daughter cannot get over the fact that the only “person” I would ever drink after was our lab!! That’s the truth!

Cindy LOL…I kiss mine on the mouth and always figure I will die from it some day. My babies have never been in a kennel, ever, when I travel. They’re so special that people will stay in my house and watch them for nothing, just to hang with them. Mine are the definition of “cool.” Hell, I raised them LOL. Yes I know all about Marley and Me. Spenser is the one that has the worst problems with the back end. Of COURSE he is the HUGE one that weighs 100 lbs. and I have to pick him up and put him in the bed until those steps come that I ordered. The little girls are smaller. Phoebe looks like a Chow and she’s adorable. She has one ear up, and one down. I almost fixed it but then I thought it gave her character. I love them so much.

I can tell you’re a wonderful mommy to those babies.
We used to try and take our lab out to the ranch, but she HATED it! She was a city girl! We were convinced of this when my husband tried to take her for a long walk in the back pasture one day. About 20 minutes later I saw him walking towards the cabin, carrying the lab. She had decided she didn’t like the “rough” ground and refused to walk anymore. So, he had to carry her (65 lbs) all the way back. And when they got back, she came running happily into the cabin like it was a long lost friend. That was one princess lab, but we loved it. We still laugh about that!

Oh Lord…Your baby sounds as spoiled as mine are. All of my friends tell me “they wished they could come back as one of my dogs.” LOL. Mine have the best life. When the two little girls were found in a TRASH CAN, they were 8 weeks old. I could hold them both in the palms of my hand and they were GORGEOUS. I promised them that they would live like Queens and I would make up for the shitestain who threw them in the trash. They have rewarded ME with such incredible laughter, loyalty, love, etc.

Cindy, I was NOT a dog person. Never. I got a house way up in the Hollywood Hills and I was scared. I figured a dog would help. NEVER did I think that I would FALL IN LOVE with these three. Thank you, and hug those sweet lab babies….Our dogs now are Black Mouth Curs. One was dumped on a country road near our ranch, and the other was about to be put sdown 200 miles from here, and we heard about her…Got both of them at 3 months, and they act like siblings. They are so cute and sweet, but they don’t have the lab personality, but we love them anyway.
Our daughter has a Cur, a Golden Retriever, 3 horses, 3 donkeys, 4 geese, 8 chickens, 20 longhorns a hubby and a baby!…..
How exciting it must be for you to live in the Hollywood Hills—I’ve never been to that area of california, but I always think of Lucille Ball, and all the oldtimers . Would love to see the Hollywood sign in person some day. Hope they preserve it!

Cindy – that is FUNNY abt your longhorn!!! I’d love to see a photo of that cow! My great-grandfather was a dairy farmer, and I just have a thing for cows…

OIAF – lol. All of our cats love dogs, and have really cute relationships with them. Punkin’ and our chow/lab mix LOVE each other – they will lie down, nose to nose, licking each other – the dog is over 70 lbs, and Punkin’ is small. It is so cute!

Obama and the Chicago political machine are well placed to start looting whatever they can — this is what happened when the “free market” economics was tried — First the shock and then the re-organized economic system — state owned resources were sold for pennies on the dollar. South Korea had a thriving economy — and then the middle class took the hardest hit — There were countless suicides.

Naomi Klein’s book “Shock Doctrine” is s must read — to know the enemy and the rules that these creeps play by.

Free market systems aren’t necessarily bad — but humans are greedy and some regulations are necessary.

My guess is the reason that Obama is playing aloof — and not sending representatives to the Economic summit is because his advisers have told him not to worry — that they have the “answers”. But one thing we’ve learned about Obama is that he is clueless — he has no idea how the economy really works. He is of the looting class. (As in working class and the looting class. He has never really worked like the working class does. He wanted a mansion — he just went out and got one. No working for it.)

I can live with Hillary being SOS.
In fact it gives me something to look forward. Hillary will get alot of press as she works through all the foreign affairs issues. I think both Bill and Hillary will make a unique team and could affect the right change.
So far this is the only event that cheers me up and allows me not to be as concerned about an Obama foreign policy nightmare.

Wouldn’t it be political suicide for her to accept this position? He could fire her and then we are without Hillary in the Senate. I find it hard to accept that she would want to be part of his administration. I am very suspicious of his intent.

OMG, in that second video I thought I was watching my own cat, Raymond! Too too funny. And of course, at this moment, he is sitting by my chair reaching up and swatting me every 10 seconds because I have the audacity to be at my computer rather than giving him a body to annoy while on the couch. (Such a difference from 2 years ago when he first came to live with me after having been abused, neglected, and left to fend for himself on the streets.)

Speaking of audacity, the only reason The Pretender would ask Hillary to be SOS is to make sure she’s out of the way and he can get what he wants from the rest of the Senate. And, of course, he gets to boss her around if she’s SOS, rein her in, and make sure she fixes his screw ups.

If he asks, I hope she says no.

And now, his highness demands my complete attention.

I have mixed feelings about Hillary being Secretary of State, but if she gets the position that won’t be disappointed. She’ll show OPampers up at every turn. That being the case, I don’t think she’ll get the job.

Love the kitty photos. I have 3 sisters, and Mike Early is one. She sometimes would come in early at night, versus staying out all night, and it was a big deal when she did that so her middle name is Early. I could live with Hillary being SOS, but I would advise her not to take it if offered.

I have four cats. All of them found me. They are 18, 17, 12, and 11. So we are in denial about someday having them leave us to cross the Rainbow Bridge. Don’t know how it would be without them.

I’ve had three Great Danes and couldn’t have asked for better dogs. Right now, though, I have two big mutts who are actually from Iran. Their previous mother founded the only animal shelter in Iran, but she and her husband had to take asylum in Canada. She got her animals over, but her assets were frozen and she couldn’t find a place to keep the dogs. One, the male, is 120 lbs. He’s the biggest baby. His sister, his litter mate, is about 85 lbs. I’ve had them for two years–got them at Best Friends because that organization had helped her with advice in setting up her shelter there and then promised to help her find them a home later.

People often comment that the male looks like a Rhodesian Ridgeback (without the ridge). They have brought so much fun and laughter into my life.

I could not live without close animal companions. What an emply life that would be.

Hillary knows what’s best for Hillary, but I’ve wished her to depose Reid in the Senate(though it’s just a fantasy, I know) and to serve as a real fly in O’s ointment, so to speak.

I don’t know what to do when these babies go, which isn’t too far off, but I will ALWAYS have animals and ALL rescues.

As an absolute dog and cat lover and expert, let me tell you how you fix the issue of cats wanting in or out.

It’s quite simple actually and doubles as a security/comfort fix-

so simple- put some small chimes on the door knob of your front and back door, put them inside and outside, teach your cat to use them.

The comfort comes from knowing those chimes will sound loudly (though a comofortable little sound) if the door is opened.. just like when you visit a small boutique and they have those chimes on their doors-

If you’re in the back of the house and thought you heard the door, well with chimes you’ll know for sure if the door was opened. Hell, my dog will hear it and if I didn’t hear it (in the shower or hair dryer) the dog will tell me the cat’s at the door and wants in (or out).

Not all my cats learned to use it but 3 of them did and quickly. Hell my neighbor’s neglected cat not only moved in, but he QUICKLY learned to use the chimes without me training him.

after he was comfortable hanging around here for no mroe than a week, I heard the chimes bang at the front door… well I went and let Max in and went back to the kichen.. just moments later I heard the chimes bang on the front door again.. I go and open the door and their sits Tom, a cat (I found out) who lives several doors away but was horribly neglected and decided to move in with me.

He saw Max and Pumpkin use the chimes and quickly taught himself to use them!

We aren’t talking about huge wind chimes but the little ones no more than 6 to 8″ long, you can find them at Walgeens seasonally (or anywhere).. just a cute little chime with a little sound that the cats can learn to use (and) when you’re sound asleep they know how to bang those damn things hard against the door to wake you up!

Great. Your cats are so cute. But too, I love your porch.

I never saw that before. Very funny. An answer to that problem would be like a friend of mine in Jr. High in Miami. And this is a true story. My friend’s mother was an EXTREME animal lover. They lived in a Duplex. Her mother was Asian, her father, her father American. They had a large corner lot. And they just kept adding more and more animals. They had dogs, cats, birds, ducks…and anything else I believe that would happen upon them. They had SO MANY, I lost track of the dogs when they got in to the teens. They ended up with so many, that when people didn’t want their pets anymore, they used to just drop them over the fense for them to take care of.

Well, the yard was full, but, she was a smart lady. She kept one side of the duplex open for the animals. They used to roam around, in an out, all on their own. She line the floor with newspaper in the kitchen, which is where many hung out, before going out the kitchen door to the back yard where they sat along the Canal. OH, and…the father lived in that side of the duplex with all those animals roaming. I never got the answer on that one. But she really cared for them in that kitchen. It turned in to her little hosptial and when a duck would get attacked by an alligator, she would take it in, clean the wounds, patch them and send them on their merry way. It was a sight!

There are numerous questions as to Obama’s citizen status raising suspicion and doubt about Obama constitutional qualification to be president. To settle these questions Mr. Obama must produce proof of citizenship!

Documents that must be produced include;
(a) a certified copy of “vault” (original long version) birth certificate;
(b) certified copies of all reissued and sealed birth certificates in the names Barack Hussein Obama, Barry Soetoro, Barry Obama, Barack Dunham and Barry Dunham;
(c) a certified copy Certification of Citizenship;
(d) a certified copy Oath of Allegiance taken upon age of maturity;
(e) certified copies of admission forms for Occidental College, Columbia University and Harvard Law School; and
(f) certified copies of any court orders or legal documents changing his name from Barry Soetoro.

It is reasonable that these documents should be produced considering that his father is Kenyan, his adoptive father is Indonesian, and his grandmother claims to have been present at his birth in Kenya. If he is a natural born citizen then producing these documents should not be any problem.

These allegations will not go away until Mr. Obama produces proof to federal authorities and the public. If he will not do so voluntarily he must be compelled by every means available. You, as an employee of The People, have sworn an oath to support and defend the Constitution.

We The People are demanding you to make every effort, both public and private, to resolve this fundamental Constitutional question before 20 January.
