We are making additions and improvements to the blog — nothing major, but the new items should be fun. Larry and others are working on a new logo. And Disqus, the comments software that we use, has introduced a new feature that might be fun: Regular visitors will be ranked and rewarded with special titles, such as the one in the image to your right.
Larry has invested a lot in this blog, including expenditures to make the blog security-tight. At the same time, he is quite liberated in allowing people to express themselves here, even if he disagrees. With the writers, he has a wonderfully “light” touch — i.e., he doesn’t sweat it if writers express opinions with which he personally disagrees. Larry’s qualities, and much more, make NoQuarter a fun blog to work with.
At the same time, however, it costs money to keep this blog running. I can’t remember the last time we wrote to you asking you to donate to the blog, but given some significant programming costs of late, we need to ask. If you’d rather, you can make purchases through Amazon — as long as you click on ANY Amazon link or image, NoQuarter will get a percentage of what you purchase.
Also: We have installed Google ads, and an easy way to help us earn money is to click on those ads. I’ve noticed that Google’s brainy software finds advertisements that match the topics in our stories and your comments. That means that you actually may find a product of interest to you in the Google ads.
We very, very much appreciate all of you. You’re a bright, challenging group of people who obviously think a lot about the big issues we face, and you’re very good at expressing your viewpoints.
We also enjoy the relationships that are developing among you, and we particularly approve of the (mostly) polite and thoughtful way that you share with each other.
