NobamaNoway. I am an AA. You can’t imagine not being on speaking terms with your other 8 sisters and brothers since about March of this year because of not supporting Obama. One of my sisters and I supported Hillary and then John and Sarah. One of my sisters from Chicago (The great Obama *ss kisser) poisoned everyone’s mind long ago. None of them would listen to facts about Obama. I simply detest him due to the lying, phony, race-baiting tactics he used during both campaigns. He is not AA he is biracial and that is the reason many whites voted for him. If he would have been the child of black parents I am not sure he would have won even with the terrible economic melt down. That is my opinion.

And for you to be here commenting on our politics is laughable. I doubt you’d be happy if we did the same. I’m sure you’d be a little incensed if we went to a British blog and said that the British were stupid to pay high taxes just to hold on to the outdated figurehead that is the monarchy.

You may very well be right about some people: none of the Americans I have (nearly all of whom supported Obama, for one reason or another) fell into that category, but then I don’t tend to associate myself with people who can’t have civil disagreements over matters of policy, and that isn’t to say there aren’t such people out there. I suppose my point is just that (as you seem to be aware) not all Obama supporters are the same, and in my experience, at least, those that exhibit cultish tendencies are in the minority – and also that this web site, and many of its contributors, display exactly the same tendencies as you are criticising.

Even by the standard of the claims regularly made on this web site, the idea that you can judge my character with such precision on the basis of a single blog comment does seem to me to be something of a stretch. My understanding of the term ‘empathy’ is the ability to put oneself in the position of others to understand their feelings; this is not something I usually have a problem with, and generally am fairly highly regarded among my friends for it.

This page is not, however, about me, so since you’ve said nothing in your response other than to impugn my character I’d better stop here.

It’s not true that I understand nothing. I would take issue with your premise that the only way to know of something is to experience it: I have access to the highest quality source material, both the wide variety of print and new media from the top journalists across the world, and the large network of friends I have in the US who are perfectly capable of reporting their experiences to me. So my question is simple: how can it be that the experiences you describe differ so wildly from those reported by every other source I’ve had access to? Moreover what, exactly, are you claiming has happened to you that has been so terrible?
