I am so sad. People have become so materialistic we have forgotten that our parents took us to church on Sundays and physically disciplined us when we did wrong, but now if you go to church you're all of a sudden a far right conservative. What? Democrats don't go to church? Should someone see you physically discipline your child , they will either be taken from you or you will go to jail. Didn't i just say our parents disciplined us? Don't you respect your parents for that? Did it make you a bad person? What about patriotism? It's now just a word people sling around when they talk about history, not the present. Honest, hardworking, GOD fearing people are dinosaurs in this new "high tech" "we're all connected" world. People say "change is good". Wrong, not ALL change is good. They keep raising their salaries and then they want to cut things like school budgets. They make way to much money. We shouldn't weaken the education of kids so that the rich can get richer. While many kids are deprived of a good education corrupt officials sit in offices and hardly do their jobs. The FCC for example has grown corrupt. Hugging on tv used to be as bad as it got. Now they can say almost anything they want and show their bare asses ( i won't even mention what goes on in movies). Most kids shows are horrible influences and so are many celebrities. No wonder their are so many underage pregnancies, look at all the scandals celebrities get into. The worst part is is that people still treat them like gods while they pollute the minds of children. A lot of this is seen on tv, but why should the FCC do their job? As long as they make money they could care less. With everything thats going on in Libya the gas prices are skyrocketing. We have more than enough oil in our reserves to last us for years, so why don't we start using them? I believe we can make a difference. There is an idea nagging at me for months and makes me wonder if I did all that I could to inform voters before the election. We have a printer and I kept thinking I could create a flyer to pass out in front of a grocery store or put under the windshields of cars with some verifiable facts about Obama the media wasn't reporting. There could be some local media attention from something like that to help get the word out. I am shy and I hate to think there was something else I could have done and didn't for that reason. They both radicalized the younger generations of Americans and dumbed them down by discouraging the transferal of hard knowledge of civics, and by teaching revisionist versions (old revision or new, equally monolithic and incorrect) of history. 4) The result of this was a populace ripe and ready to accept the “cult of personality” type of politics. 5) The professional political elite, i.e., old political families, career politicians, and old PACs/influence groups, used these factors to tighten their grip on the political system and, indeed, on political discourse itself, thus strangling or squeezing out new ideas and new people. At this point, their control of the system is almost complete. 6) Finally, the “New Democrats” of today stole (and added to) the playbook from the “New Republicans” of the 90s, who had in turn stolen it from the “Old Democrats” of an earlier generation/generations, and in turn ... well, you get the idea. <em>“Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.”</em> Others here have hit on some of these points, but here goes:
