Welcome to Our New Blog Site

Explore the comment options — created by Butters aka Andrew Duncan — and tell us what you think. We anticipate you’ll find all the new options a big improvement over the old No Quarter blog site.

Tomorrow morning, we’ll post The Angry Rakkasan’s response to President Bush’s weekly radio address. Did you know that in 2005, Larry Johnson delivered the weekly Democratic response, and that he was the first registered Republican to ever do so? For more, check out “Ex-CIA official blasts Bush on leak of operative’s name,” July 23, 2005 at CNN.

A former CIA intelligence official who once worked with Valerie Plame blasted President Bush and his administration for their response to the role of top White House aides in allegedly leaking Plame’s identity as a CIA operative.

Speaking on behalf of Democrats in the party’s weekly radio address Saturday, Larry Johnson said, “The president has flip-flopped on his promise to fire anyone in the White House implicated in a leak.”

Johnson, a registered Republican who voted for Bush in 2000, said he and Plame have been friends since they began their training at the CIA in 1985. …

Very nice! Kudos Butters & Susan.
    Sweeeeeet

Oh great! I’m so glad you like it. But if any of you encounter any “issues,” please let us know. It’s a work in progress — which is a great thing about Web pages, isn’t it.

Poor Andrew. I keep thinking of questions for him.

  • Leslie

Wow, Susan and Andrew really worked hard on this! It looks great! Ooooo, it has an automatic preview your comments thingy. Nice. Now we can use html codes for links and cool effects.

Anyone know how to create colors?

  • Leslie

So is this where we should visit from now on? Is this the official launch?

  • Leslie

Having fun with the comments…so how do you crack open champagne virtually?

  • http://NoQuarterUSA.net Larry Johnson

We’ll look for a big bottle of Pierre Jouet.

This is too Great!!!! Kudos and a bit of bubbly are in order, and will be glad to share some virtually with all you, my friends….. Thanks Larry, Susan, and Andrew…. what a GREAT Friday surprise….

  • SusanUnPC

Leslie, I’ve e-mailed Andrew about images. Perhaps we’ll need to first upload an image to a third-party site like Imageshack or Photo Bucket. When Andrew gets back to me, i’ll let you know.

  • Chris Vosburg

Wow, love the built in preview function.

    Nice work, Butters!

Sorry about the above, experimental link to an external image. Okay, no external images, I get it, I get it!

    TESTING

    BUSH

  • SusanUnPC

Andrew succeeded in posting images in the thread just below. I looked at the code he used, and we’re not doing anything wrong. I e-mailed him so he knows. It’ll probably be something simple to fix.

I want to see your image, Chris. It’s no doubt something subversive.

    Mine mocks Bush.

    Sweet! I like!

    Updating my blogroll now!

    This seemed to work,

    Whereas this didn’t,

Using imageshack, the snippet of code at the very bottom, labeled ‘Direct link to image’ provides the working link:

PICKY, PICKY! Okay, will do from now on.

It’d been a while since I’d been to ImageShack. I like that site better than Photo Bucket, which never remembers me.

  • Mart

Site looks great guys – congratulations!

WOW! Lots of new tatskes to figure out and use.

(X)HTML isn’t exactly Assyrian cuneiform but it’s going to take an afternoon of experimentation to see what some of the more esoteric buttons mean. A hint to the Wizard, that Larry had put this wonderful site together: Maybe if a person were to roll the mouse pointer over the unfamiliar buttons, above, a word of two appearing with their meaning would make everything easy for we, few, illitteratti? OkThxbai.

  • Chris Vosburg

Yeah? I’ll try again then, with the same image:

  • Chris Vosburg

    Nope, no soap.

Actually appeared in preview that time but didn’t make it through the “add comment” error trapping.

the image I was trying to link to, and the code I used follows (Parentheses, instead of greater/less symbols), if it’s any help to Andrew:

Tried to post an image of Pierre Jouet to toast, but two attempts above failed. So here’s the link:

Me really like. Tigers are playing your Mariners right now. You got us last night.

Will try posting the image again too, which appears in the preview prior to posting:

I don’t personally know anyone here, but I’d like to add my two cents, since I’m always interested in what Larry has to say, and hold high respect for him.

I think your new format is superb; and definitely easier to read online. The comments section is soooo much better, as well as your home page. I’m looking forward to coming here more often.

  • Chris Vosburg

Yeah, Andrew, that’s the very image I tried and failed to post.

    Glasses charged, and:

Here’s to ya, No Quarter. Larry and Susan, best of luck with the new site, and Andrew, well done.

  • Shirin

The text formatting does not always work. I used the
underline in one comment, and it inserted the tags, but the underline did not show.

  • Shirin

Didn’t work in that last one either. Let’s see: bold, italic, underline.

Looks like underline does not work.

  • Shirin

Butters, don’t you just HATE testers?!!!

    You know what I love is when the developer comes back at me with “but it works on my machine”, and I get to say “but it doesn’t work on mine, and mine is the one that matters!” :o }

  • Shirin

    Oh – smileys! Niiice!

Or my personal favorite from a few years ago: a guy developing on a mac using netscape, when told that his code crashes internet explorer on a PC, said “why are you still using internet explorer? That’s just stupid.”

Okay then, and thanks for calling me stupid!
