Welcome Back! [UPDATE]

UPDATE: People are asking that their rights be returned. I am making decisions based on their statements that they will work hard to make civil comments. This is done without ANY regard for their position against or for Barack Obama. Barack Obama is not qualified to be president, imho, but he’s going to be president and we all need to rally to save our country. Trust me, we’ll criticize if he drops the ball. Today, we posted several pieces criticizing Obama. But I refuse to be as thuggish and belligerent as the Obamabots. We’re better than they were. Perhaps if we behave better, they’ll learn a thing or two.
………………………………………
Slowly (ahem), but surely, I am adding back many of the readers who wrongly or rightly were placed on moderation or banned during the heat of the election. If your rights haven’t been restored yet, or you’ve not received a reply from me yet, give me a bit of time. We had many fires to put out last night and today, and I’m just getting to them.
One of those readers is Undercover Black Man, who wrote this lovely note:
The Democrats keeping Joe Lieberman around… that’s nothing. Larry and Susan have just welcomed me — Undercover Black Man — back into the comments section at No Quarter! Truly a new day has dawned in America.
I first came to this blog with the express purpose of baiting, mocking and scorning PUMAs. (Hey, it was free entertainment.) I got banned several times when I crossed the line into incivility. But a funny thing happened over the course of time. I couldn’t stop coming and reading. There’s a conversation going on here that I want to be a part of… even if in the role of dissenter. (more below)
So thank you, Larry. Thanks, Susan. Campaign ’08 was a rough storm that tossed all boats. It sometimes brought out the worst in folks. But let us move forward as Americans engaged in the great issues and problems of our time.
Now, some of you won’t like what UBM writes, but we’re all trying to practice civility here, as much as we can muster.
Let’s pretend our grandchildren or children might be watching as we type.
Well, that’s not much fun.
Let’s see … shall we try to pretend that we’re the opposite of the goons at Daily Kos?
