In the middle of 1993, after the Clinton administration’s fumbling debut, a senior White House official came to political director Rahm Emanuel with a not-so-subtle suggestion: perhaps Emanuel would be happier with a job at the Democratic National Committee.

Emanuel, having been shown the door, refused to walk through it. He would leave if President Clinton personally told him to, he told colleagues. Otherwise, he was staying.

Some five years later, Emanuel is going. Monday is the last day of work for one of this White House’s ultimate survivors, a wiry-thin, foul-mouthed ballet dancer from Chicago who moved to Little Rock in the fall of 1991 as one of the first advisers to Bill Clinton’s presidential campaign.

The big news is that there is a radio interview allegedly with the Ambassador of Kenya who says that there is a monument in Kenya IN THE PLACE OBAMA WAS BORN. Quality education for all children doesn’t seem high on his list of priorities. The US is fourteenth or fifteenth in the world in education and the top ten don’t rely on private schools or vouchers to educate their children. They have good public schools.

i just want to point out here that rove is smart for sure. he sang obama’s praises Or acted quite cheerful about him. now he is dinging obama. hmm! and understand i didn’t vote for obama. i am glad to see some saner people than i feard taking cabinet positions. i just wanted to add this point.

If he has time and power to influence the Chicago Olympics, he should be able to call a press conference to detail some plans to turn the economy around. He must be waiting for his advisors to tell him what he tinks. He may not be president yet, but a few choice words to indicate what he plans to do when he gets to the Oval Office (other than prop his feet on the desk) to turn things around instead of letting Nancy Pelosi get on the news everyday and confuse everyone, might help.
