How Our Government Deals with Its Messes: The Perfect Analogy (& open thread)

So, how am I feeling about our government’s leadership today? Well, I finally found a video clip that portrays it perfectly. We elect people who say they will clean up our problems. And they are huge, stinking problems. But what do they do instead? Well…see for yourself.

Your turn …

       Great news GO SCOTT!!!!1

      • KenoshaMarge

Big surprise. Now the problem is that this will be very close and I am worried about fraud. A Judge stopped voter I.D. so now we have to be concerned about the election being as corrupt as the recall petitions. (Paying the homeless to sign by giving them cigarettes was only one of the methods the scumbags used.)

Oh and the Judge that stopped the Voter I.D.? He signed the recall petition against Scott Walker. Not biased or anything.

  • FormerLiberal9

I ran into this quote  on wikipedia while looking up something:

20th-century American social critic and humorist H. L. Mencken, defined a demagogue as “one who will preach doctrines he knows to be untrue to men he knows to be idiots.”

  • MG6

    If this is true…

    http://frontporchpolitics.com/2012/04/barack-obamas-lawyer-admits-birth-certificate-is-forged/

Than we have to remedy this by prosecuting all of the congressmen and woman who knew and did nothing.

We have to put into law all those running for president must produce valid verification of birth and reveal all academia records.
Oh Hell!   Lets include everyone that runs for political office.

    • Flop_Flipper

Impeaching Obama would be a huge mistake. We don’t need distractions or martyrs.

      • FormerLiberal9

BTW it would take to long to impeach Obama his term will run out long before any impeachment trial could take place.

    • foxyladi14

AMEN.We want real Americans running our country.

  • KenoshaMarge

Interesting questions asked in this article.

    Who Is Barack Obama?
    http://pjmedia.com/rogerkimball/2012/05/19/who-is-barack-obama/?singlepage=true

    • Flop_Flipper

The author believes that even the New York Times and the Washington Post will begin to investigate Obama. The only way either of them would begin any serious investigation is when Romney is so far ahead this fall that running interference for their guy makes little strategic sense.

Perhaps I’ve become a pessimist. While I find all this information entertaining, I’m of the opinion that the few scraps of revealing information left about Obama were left intentionally, because the trail they lead to is a diversion. Whoever planned Obama’s presidency thought this stuff out well in advance.

      • KenoshaMarge

I am a pessimist too. And I don’t even “trust”, I just do my best to verify.

But there comes a time when the lies are so many that even a POS editor like Bill Keller has to actually do some “reporting”.

They have all ready lost so much credibility, and their latest fiasco, 3 days of front page reporting on a Romney attack on Obama that never was, has only made things worse.

They are becoming their own worst nightmare, a joke.

I believe that given time bias is it’s own worst enemy. The NYT may learn that lesson too late. I hope so. Bias and corruption should have to pay a price. A big one.

        • FormerLiberal9

I don’t think that either you or FF are natural pessimists or you wouldn’t be as involved as you both are in this election. You are only pessimistic when it comes to seeing any change in the liberal dominated press.

          • KenoshaMarge

I am not a natural pessimist. I learned over the course of my life to be one.

I am optimistic about a change in the liberal dominated press only because I foresee a time, in the not too distant future, when they will have to be “less” biased out of sheer self-protection.

They know that we are a center right country and not a liberal one. They have been trying to change that for some time and they can see, or should be able to see, that all their biased reporting, and I use the word reporting lightly, hasn’t changed that.

People generally have little respect or trust for the media any more. If the media wants to survive as a viable entity they need to get some of that trust and respect back.

They should know all about that because they hypocritically chastise politicians about it all the time.

We have a corrupt media AND a corrupt government. If we lay down and give up we deserve it.

My children and grandchildren deserve better from me than apathy and acceptance. And my self-respect does too.

          • Flop_Flipper

As a rule, I am an optimistic person. When I see reruns of 2008 playing themselves out I tend to get pessimistic at the state of social and political affairs. The general tendency to repeat diversions of the past that were proven not to work does dishearten me.

  • HARP2

    In Dreams from My Father,
Obama inflated his stint at Business International even more and
transformed it into a faux moment of racial awareness, one of at least a
half-dozen concocted racial melodramas in the book.  As Obama tells the
story, a “consulting house to multinational corporations” hired him and
promptly promoted him to the position of “financial writer.”I had my own office, my own secretary, money in the bank. Sometimes, coming out of an interview
with Japanese financiers or German bond traders, I would catch my
reflection in the elevator doors-see myself in a suit and tie, a
briefcase in my hand-and for a split second I would imagine myself as a
captain of industry, barking out orders, closing the deal, before I
remembered who it was that I had told myself I wanted to be and felt
pangs of guilt for my lack of resolve.

    As
early as July 2005, however, former co-worker and Obama fan Dan
Armstrong revealed Obama’s whole account to be a “serious
exaggeration.”  Obama worked at not a multinational corporation, but a
“small company that published newsletters.”  He was not the only black person who worked there.  He did not, as claimed, have his own office, wear a jacket and tie, interview
international businessmen, or write articles.  He mostly just
copy-edited business items and slipped them into a three-ring binder for
    the company’s customers.

Perhaps this exaggeration, among so many other exaggerations, in lesser mortals known as lies, is the reason his “business” experience isn’t being touted by his campaign.

    • Flop_Flipper

I’m beginning to wonder if Obama just took LOTS of acid.

    • getfitnow

I first read about this here, at NQ during the campaign. I recall one commenter provided a link to a site with a page where employees/former employers of this company checked in. And during the campaign, a number of ex-employees that worked with That One verified his job description.

When Campbell Brown was anchor at CNN, her bias in favor of Barack Obama was shining through.  There was nothing fair and balanced about her that I could tell.  I quit watching her.  Then along comes this opinion piece.  My how the worm has turned:

Pat, I received that video in one of the many emails I get daily from my uncle.  I just went YUCK!  when I saw it the first time.  Now I am really sick since you pointed it out as a good analogy of he way our government operates nowadays.

    • KenoshaMarge

Exactly. They don’t clean up the shit, they just spread it around.

What is even more amazing is how folk believe that voting for either Obama or Romney will actually change anything?

Lets see the House Armed Services Committee this week passed an amendment by Mike Turner (R) Ohio to squander another $160 million in taxpayer money on nuclear boondoggle, the troubled multi-billion dollar Chemistry and Metallurgy Research Replacement-Nuclear Facility (CMRR-NF). (We need this like we need a hole in our heads.)

Let’s see the House is cutting social programs left and right and bending over to defense contractors….

So does any reasonable person think that either of these two numskulls running for office can actually make a difference that is going to be meaningful with how our current government (bureaucracy)  does business?

It does not matter if either if either of these guys was born on Mars…. The fact is they pilot a tall ship that’s rudder is controlled by 200,000 other people…..

          • Popsmoke

Amazing! Simply amazing. Yes Obama has much to be blamed for. But so do the republicans. Both sides put this country into severe economic troubles not just one side or one person.

The real problem is that people like you only see things in a one dimensional setting.

And then you really screw things up by going to the polls to vote….

          • stodghie

in rely to popsmoke. your problem is you see folks who don’t like obama as a problem. that is very clear. then you resort to clueless insults which takes away from any point you wished to make.

what i pointed out in those two news leads of which there are many many more that speak to the dire circumstances of our country is the fact that debate and knowledge are critical. obama is the worst nightmare this country has ever had. take the blinders off and you will see it. what i see you do is just argue for your one sided views. there are many views on here with which i don’t agree. but hey that’s life. you might enjoy the site more if you relaxed a bit. i could load this comment down with a ton of information on the mess that obama and his gang of thugs have done to wreck this country economically, security wise, race wise, emotionally and spiritually. but it is up to you to look at what is out there.
