Happy Father’s Day, Barack + Open Thread [Golf Update]

Updates from Politico / Memeorandum, via Twitter: – Can you believe this? The President of the United States, at a time of too many crises, plays golf instead of doing his job? “Obama plays 100th round of golf as president”:

After a late night at the wedding of senior adviser Valerie Jarrett’s daughter Laura, the president was out of the house just after 10 a.m. Central time for a round with frequent partners Marty Nesbitt, Eric Whitaker and Marvin Nicholson, the White House trip director.

Mark Knoller, CBS News’s longtime keeper of presidential data, says it’s Obama’s 100th round since taking office. And the president picked a nice course … the historic Beverly Country Club [in Chicago].

A reader named Sal comments on Knoller’s Tweet: “Obama hits the magic number — his 100th round of golf as ‪#POTUS‬ while 15 Million Americans are unemployed. …” You have your priorities right, Sal. We wish the Prez did too.

OKAY. I have found so many news stories and posts about Obama’s golf game Sunday that I’m putting it all in a new post.

To fathers, grandfathers, stepdads, uncles, nephews — all of you — a happy Father’s Day. I just hope you don’t get a tie as a gift.

The photo below the fold was taken as the Obama family left the White House to fly to Chicago for the weekend. Maybe President Barack Obama will get a special gift. A boot. And we citizens can hope for a SPECIAL GIFT on Father’s Day 2013, with the Obamas gone from the White House, back home in Chicago, and our nation having a new First Family.

The term “Middle East” generally conjures up images of the war in Iraq,
the Arab-Israeli conflict, the Iranian nuclear threat and the recent
      Arab Spring.

Rarely does one think of Christianity as a minority religion that has
been persecuted, its holy sites vandalized and its worshippers abused
and murdered throughout the Middle East.

Michael Oren, the United States ambassador to Israel, recently wrote an
article in the Wall Street Journal, in which he stated that the Middle
East was 20 percent Christian at the start of the previous century and
      just 5 percent Christian today.

Two hundred thousand Coptic Christians were forced to flee their homes in Egypt within the past year.

The Coptic Christians have lived in Egypt since the first century of
the Common Era and were the dominant religion in Egypt until the
emergence of Islam. The Copts currently consist of 10 percent of Egypt’s
population and used to live peacefully next to their Muslim neighbors.

However, this recently changed when they were attacked by violent mobs
of Salafi Islamists, shot at by the Egyptian army, had their churches
      burned and their priests beaten.

Last October, between 20 and 35 Coptic Christians were murdered by
Egyptian security officers while protesting the government’s failure to
protect Egyptian churches. Egyptian media called upon citizens to defend
the army and attack the Copts. Where is the uproar about the treatment
      of the Copts?

OMG! I’m crying as I write this. What a blessed, blessed country we live in. It’s Father’s day, and Obama just completed his 100th golf game. Surely this is a symbol of the greatness of this administration.
Did you ever hear the joke about the priest and the nun who went golfing together?

      Funny joke!

Watched Romney on Face the Nation. Really liked what he had to say. He comes across level headed, with intelligence derived from a thorough examination of the issues and a flair for joking. VERY likable in my opinion. This should drive the Obots even crazier than they undoubtedly already are.

Yeah, Romney will drive the obots insane. I 100% promise you. And Romney is a smart enough dude to keep his Obot-enraging abilities under cover. For now.
