Open Thread * Bob Woodward’s Vainglorious Indictment of the Clintons

Okay, before we chat about Bob Woodward, we need to discuss the one of the MOST IMPORTANT QUESTIONS FACING US IN THE COMING FOUR YEARS: Where will we go to read truthful and objective reports about the activities and achievements, as well as the problems and challenges, of Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton? Do any of you have any good ideas? WaPo NYTimes A.P. NBC MNSBC CNN Fox HuffyPoop Time Newsweak McClatchy? Times UK? Where?

That is one reason, in an earlier post, I suggested to Senator Clinton that she establish 1) a blog, 2) a YouTube channel, and 3) meetings with “citizen journalists” so that we can get her DIRECT perspective on what she is doing in her job. Hillary needs her own bullypulpit, her own unfiltered message venue to all of us. Now, that would all have to be cleared with the Obama WH Press people, etc. They may say no.

Here’s one more idea, Hillary: Once a month, or every other month, prepare a 10-minute video that can be sent to school teachers nationwide. Tell the kids about some program that the U.S. is undertaking in some country that the kids have likely NEVER heard of. Show them where that country is. Show them a few images or a bit of video of what the people and the country look like.

Include some cute information, like video snippets of some special wildlife. (I’ll never forget your stump speech in which you talked about the ENDANGERED MOUNTAIN GORILLAS! And I saved that speech on my DVR forever, because i planned to write about what you said, but i never did, damn it.)

Anyway, this would be VERY edifying for children of ALL AGES, as long as it’s fun too. I doubt most kids can find Mexico or Canada on a world map, sigh, and this is desperately needed. And if you don’t do it too often, it will be a special treat. Kids LOVE videos if for no other reason than that means, for 10 minutes, they don’t have to listen to their teacher bitching at them (which far too many teachers do ALL the time, which KILLS the kids’ interest in every subject).

You speak very well and very warmly, and the kids will listen to you. Perhaps you can do this in conjunction with the Sec. of Education? ALSO establish a spot on your SecState site where kids can go and learn more about the country, and that includes all past videos you’ve done.

NOW, BOB:

On the little-seen syndicated Chris Matthews Show — in copy sneaked out early to FishbowlDC, via MediaBistro.com — we’re told that Bob Woodward says:

Being president is about control, and tell me who ever controlled Bill or Hillary Clinton. They can’t control each other. … I think it’s because Warren Buffett and Paul Volcker and others have convinced Obama, ‘You’re going to have to focus like a laser on the economy. That’s issue Number One. And give Hillary and Bill the world.’ … I think people are fantasizing or smoking something if they think Joe Biden’s going to call Hillary Clinton up and say, ‘This is what we want you to do.’

Well, I’m sure that Obama’s Secret Service detail keeps a pack or two handy when he needs a smoke. But he’s not “smoking something.” He’s giving “the world” to an incredibly knowledgeable, talented, and extremely well-traveled woman who also knows, personally, both the White House and Congress.

What IS this incessant obsession that the D.C. crowd has with the Clintons? They seem so silly. And, recalling those “18 million cracks in the glass ceiling” as well as President Bill Clinton’s two terms, it’s obvious that voters don’t may them much mind (thank god).

You just have to get a copy of Sidney Blumenthal’s engrossing book, The Clinton Wars, about how the Clintons dealt — let’s make that TRIED to deal — with the D.C. establishment and media during his presidency.

Blumenthal provides the POV you never hear in the MSM, ensconced as they all are with the D.C. establishment, spouting the same rubbish about the Clintons because to do otherwise would sentence them to never being invited to Sally and Ben’s anymore.

Bob Woodward is a joke. He writes flattering books about President Bush when it’s safe to do so. He writes unflattering books about President Bush when it’s necessary to turn on him. I trust no professor assigns Mr. Woodward’s books to students.

naSus, that is an excellent idea, in terms of helping school children to understand what the SOS does, in conjunction with educating them in regard to ways of world government, helping them to see outside the solipsistic vision so many in the US press, and such, possess, unfortunately.

We aren’t a unilateral power, we must interact intelligently with those around us, respecting the people of various nations, even if their governments leave something to be desired.

It is the foundation of intelligent, long term successful policy.

I wonder if she’ll bring Holbrooke on board?

So many of those in the military who supported Clinton are among the best and brightest this country has ever produced, loyal to democracy and the United States…

I respect this article and thought it was well written, but, it seems that some of you still think that Hillary is going to have some kind of power while serving the One. Hillary is going to do what she is told, period! Don’t hold your breath that she can speak for herself otherwise Obama would not have put her as the water gal for the country. Sec of State is nothing but an “errand girl”. Condi Rice is one of the smartest women on this planet and her entire career was based on runnign errands for Bush. Hillary will do the same. I would have rather see her as the House Speaker, or in charge of Health, instead she will be running up and down for the next 4 years speaking for the Almighty and carrying out his commands. Yes, the white woman slave for the black man. Put her in his place, didn’t he? I know that most of you are still in love with her, but, for me, I would have respected her more as a Senator than an errand girl. I guess the supporters just wanted to see her in some position, even if it meant giving up her brain.

  • KarenG

Have you heard any names floated for Education?
The talk in Chicago is that it will be Arnie Duncan, in fact Mayor Daily was asked about it in a
    press conference.

  • KarenG

sorry on spelling there – Mayor Daley.

  • Mo

    Well, time will tell.

  • AngryWhitePerson

Where will we go to read truthful and objective reports about the activities and achievements, as well as the problems and challenges, of Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton? Do any of you have any good ideas?

Yes. The answer is: NoQuarter. Do you guys get one million readers a month? Forget relying on “objective reports” from supposed “news outlets.” YOU ARE THE MEDIA. Use your leverage.

NoQuarter’s writers and readers are the best journalists the U.S. will ever have. The “revolution” against the mainstream media isn’t out there. It’s right here.

  • Mo

The financial team he is assembling is a disaster, IMO.

Look for a lot of smoke but no significant improvement, as these people aren’t known for their groundbreaking ideas, or even their ability to recognize a problem.

It’s the padded resume crowd, those without real accomplishment, coasting in on marginal ivy league pedigrees, somehow thinking a 90′s Clinton solution they weren’t responsible for will suffice here, in 2008.

    But I expected nothing different.

They have yet to realize the treasury is empty, and they’ve offered no indication they understand how the wars, or the corruption, have played into this, in fact, the same obtuse democratic type congressional zeitgeist we saw under Bush is now in the presidency.

  • lorac

Lena, I REALLY like your ideas – not just for the kids, but so that Hillary remains visible.

I’m not sure if Hillary will be able to shine, or be under his thumb, but I truly believe he doesn’t know what he is doing, so I suspect she may be able to blaze some paths.

I finally decided that since I trust and respect Hillary, her familiarity with politics, and her intelligence, she must know what she’s doing. So I decided to celebrate if she takes the job.

  • http://noquarterusa.net/ Nusas

Holbrooke would be lovely. He’s one of those rare thinkers i could listen to for hours and hours and hours and never tire of listening to, nor have my attention wander.

And then there’s Joseph Wilson. Shouldn’t he be a deputy something in the State Dept?

Or perhaps Obama will be big enough to give him a grand ambassadorship to somewhere wonderful.

  • Scranton4Hillary

Very well said AngryWhitePerson. I agree with you 100%. NoQuarter writing/blogging is outstanding–logical and straight from the heart. What MSM outlet can match that? Uhh–that would be NONE!

  • http://noquarterusa.net/ NoQuarter

Yes, well. We need to get that information from somewhere! Since we won’t be sitting in Hillary’s office alongside her, but wish we were. I’m willing to serve as her potted plant. Anyone care to join me in the decorative scheme department? — Nasus

  • HC

This is a good idea for Senator Clinton.

As for Bob. “I think it’s because Warren Buffett and Paul Volcker and others have convinced Obama, ‘You’re going to have to focus like a laser on the economy.”

Sheeple do this all the time – attribute things to Obama just because it makes them feel happy. “I just know hes going to .

    Furthermore, Volcker? What?

  • Peggy Sue

No, Soldier of Christ. I respected Hillary Clinton’s judgment in the past and I respect her now. None of us know what has gone on behind the scenes, the agreements that have been reached. The media least of all since they’ve turned journalism into sheer rumor-mongering and echo chamber gymnastics. And the rest? Complete speculation.

And would you have respected HRC as POTUS? I suspect not.

In any case, the question posed at the start of this essay is really important: where “do” we go for legitimate, accurate and objective reporting? No one in their right mind should trust the MSM anymore; they grind out whatever propaganda that serve their own puny careers and interests of the corporate bosses.

    I look forward to suggestions.

  • ritamary

How could Hillary be Speaker of the House when she is a Senator? Please explain.

  • Chicago Joe

Frankly, I don’t know why Hillary is doing this. It must be a sign that her political aspirations are over and she has rsigned herself to a life of service to her country despite Obama. I don’t trust him and how he will treat her…in fact, I fear him, and think he will use this to finish her off. I pray that I am wrong.

Basically what he is saying here is that his campaign rhetoric dissing her foreign policy experience was nothing but good old politics as usual so he IS as full of it as we think he is.

  • Nocturnal Warrior

Clinton Derangement Syndrome is a like herpes. It can never be cured and it can rear its ugly head at anytime.

As for Woodward a nice case of genital or anal herpes for him would be justice.

  • HARP

1…..Hillary does well and Barky takes the credit.

2….. All Hell breaks lose internationally and Hillary takes the blame.

Mark my words..It is a no win situation for Hillary, not to mention the continuing demeaning of women.

  • Andy

    I love these ideas !!

Hillary needs her own bullypulpit, her own unfiltered message venue to all of us.

Why would the BO’s people say no? HRC will be in charge of her office so what’s wrong with SHE talking to us directly about what’s she’s doing instead of some punk in the BO Adm going to the Matthews of this world and telling them tell us in their own distorted
    interpretation?

Now: how do we let HRC know that “we the people” want this ?

  • Mo

I agree, Holbrooke, I think, is immensely talented, one of those who is able to think, actively.

I listen to him, too, he’s one of those who always has something unique to contribute, along with the skill, and force of personality to succeed, diplomatically.

    The same for Joe Wilson.

At the very least, I hope Obama will help the Wilsons, (and the CIA), to see justice.

The executive did a bad, bad thing, certainly no one has forgotten…

  • ritamary

I agree with Nasus that Bob Woodward is a joke. How many years did he spend sucking up to Bush and selling books glorifying Bush?

And AngryWhitePerson, you have it right. No Quarter is my main source of news now. Sometimes I listen to Lou Dobbs’ radio program, and I listen to John Bachelor on Sundays.

Fox News’ Strategy Room is streamed over the internet on weekdays. Lots of interesting discussion but some Clinton bashing went on this week. They have some technology issues, but no commercials except at the very beginning when you first open the window to the show. I listen to Strategy Room while I am reading No Quarter.

  • http://www.wewillnotbesilenced2008.com OBAMA IS A FRAUD

Okay well I will face the bashing I am about to get…I have not been in love with Hillary since the whole campaigning for Fraudbama thing. I listen to the worship here, and I GET IT. You all went out and fought the good fight. So did I. Now hearts are broken.

But, here’s the deal…My friends just came back from meeting with one of Hillary’s close friends about what we are doing. Obviously we have to change a few things now that Hillary is part of the Fraudulent cabinet. If I said the name of this woman, you would know who it is. Well, now I am outraged. 1) Bill Clinton HAS all the DIRT on Fraudbama and was planning to let it out in early January. 2) It is this woman’s opinion (who no longer is on the HRC bandwagon) that HRC is doing it because truthfully Hillary never wants to be out of the press. She knows she can never run again, so what’s left? She will always be in the media now. 3) The reason FRAUDBAMA did it was apparently soooo many of the world leaders and people we do trade agreements, etc. with are NOT in love with the Fraud, and said they would discontinue trade and good relations with us unless Hillary was around as SOS. Period.

You can look at it that Hillary DID just save our butts with our friends in other countries. But now we know Bill really COULD save us from this mess and he isn’t. Kind of pisses me off. This is such a conflicting POS situation. Don’t kill me. I’m the messenger on this one.

  • Andy

I wouldn’t mind being her desk.

Yes..and a sweet messenger at that!

I choose to live in the world we have than wish and lament what could have been.

I have been on this site since Feb and all we wanted was what’s best for the country and Hillary..

I sleep better knowing that the foreign policy that many of us championed is now the reality.

Obama has to govern form the center…56 million people made sure of that..
Good work Hillary people..We scored a great victory with Hillary being SOS.

  • Mo

    From the uk times:

Black glided over reality by appointing famous men and women as Hollinger’s independent directors. Besides Kissinger and Raymond Seitz, a former US ambassador to Britain, the army of the great and the good included Richard Perle, the former assistant secretary of defence, Paul Volker, the former chairman of the US federal bank, Marie-Josée Kravis, a director of Ford, and Jim Thompson, a former governor of Illinois who chaired Hollinger’s all-important audit committee.

Hollinger media, which owns the Chicago Sun Times, or did, was headed by the now imprisoned Conrad Black, of Patrick Fitzgerald fame.

He, Black, is connected to Chicago, Voelker, and Obama, too, the same IL combine-Washington DC, London two, or three step, we’re all so familiar with, Volcker a former head of the Fed.

    Same old, same old.

But you can kind of see how it ties in together, really, the corruption Fitz has prosecuted.

All we need is some Russian greaseball to head up the thing, and we can call it a conspiracy…

    (Just kidding, I apologize)…

trixta…I didn’t know about the Bill thing until today when Hillary’s friend told us. Wow. So he really did know the truth the whole time. I bet Bush does too. Sigh. How do we not get angry that they didn’t think the best thing for the country was to tell AMERICANS THE TRUTH? Moss, sorry, that logic doesn’t fly. If the Clintons are Americans, and love this country, then they SHOULD HAVE been honest about Fraudbama from the beginning. If they would have…think about this…you might have Hillary as POTUS now.

  • indypol

If Hillary is going to take this stupid position, she needs to ‘Cheney-ize’ the Office of Secretary of State. What does that mean? She needs to have a large staff capable of gathering intelligence in the State Department and she needs to install hard-core, pro-Israel Clinton loyalists throughout the administration, especially in the Vice President’s Office, the Defense Department, the FBI, the CIA and the Justice Department. She needs feelers everywhere in the government, and a bubble of reliable political and bureaucratic protection. All of these precautions will make it clear that she chose Odumbo, not the other way around (ie. you configure this job to her specifications, or there’s no deal).

  • EWard

    Lena & Soldier of Christ

I agree with SOC’s comments. If Hillary accepts the SOS position, she serves at the pleassure of the President. Except for the Republican media, most of the journalists are functioning as media zombies or cultists for BO. I can’t imagine that Cupcake’s administration would allow her to have a blog, youtube channel without Big Brother Barack watching her every move.

As for Woodward, he has no credibility left. Blogs such as NoQuarter, Pumapac, HotAir, GretaWire are all credible. Stanley Kurtz of the National Review has done an outstanding job reporting about the real BO and his connections with Acorn, Ayers, Jones, Pritzker, Alinksky, etc.

  • EWard

With all due respect, BO is the leader of the DP. The infamous meeting in May that decided the votes of FL and MI established that fact. The Clintons are popular with the public, but BO owns the the DP. FDR and Truman would be appalled.

  • Seattle Moss

    I’m not hoping…I’m praying!!!

  • indypol

If Odumbo is going to control Hillary the way that Bush controlled Powell, then Hillary should control Odumbo the way that Cheney controlled Bush.

  • SFIndiePUMA

I agree with you 100% on this, OIAF. My respect for Hillary diminished when she joined The Pretender’s bandwagon, campaigning more strongly for him than even some of this kool-aid drinking surrogates! And now come to find out that Bill had information that the country was entitled to know and held back? WTF???

But I don’t buy into the premise that Hillary has now saved the country by becoming SoS. I don’t trust The Pretender as far as I can throw him (and that’s not very far, believe me). She still serves completely at HIS pleasure. It’s HIS voice, HIS agenda, HIS dictates, it’s all about HIM. She has to play the good girl and do what the boss says, and she’ll do it, just like she acquiesced and didn’t fight back against the voter fraud, the caucus illegalities, the stealing of delegates by the RBC, the sham of a convention. And I don’t want to hear any crap about how she just couldn’t, her hands were tied, she had to play the game, what would the MSM have done to her if she had. No worse than what they do to her every day!

What kind of victory did we, as a country gain, with Hillary as SoS? She’ll have NO power other than that which The Pretender chooses to give her. And anyone who thinks he’s any different now than he has been throughout his life, they’re crazy.

When The Pretender was sitting on different boards with his terrorist buddy Ayers handing out money to people who put it in their pockets, or knocking people off the ballot to start his political career, or sitting in the state legislature for 7 years voting present, or letting his district fall into squalor while he bought a multi-million dollar mansion with the help of a convicted criminal, or accusing everyone of being racist, or being a disgusting sexist/misogynist pig, or intimidating superdelegates into voting for him, or committing caucus fraud, or accepting illegal donations, or stealing votes, or any of the multitude of corrupt behaviors, he was a narcissist who cared only about himself and about winning at any cost. Now, he’s appointed Hillary as SoS, and suddenly he’s proving how much he loves his country, and making such great decisions, and let’s just forget that past silliness and give the poor guy a chance, okay? Hunh!?

I don’t think we’ve gained any kind of victory. I think we’ve proven to ourselves and the world that we adhere to a concept of victory at any cost, that the end justifies the means, and that we’re willing to overlook any behavior as long as we can benefit from it in some way (or hold to the belief that we benefit).

“In keeping silent about evil, in burying it so deep within us that no sign of it appears on the surface, we are implanting it, and it will rise up a thousandfold in the future. When we neither punish nor reproach evildoers . . . we are ripping the foundations of justice from beneath new generations.” — Alexander Solzehnitsyn

“One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we’ve been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. The bamboozle has captured us. Once you give a charlatan power over you, you almost never get it back.” Carl Sagan

  • ranger

If Hillary accepts the SOS position, she will know what she is getting in to.

That is what is probably holding this thing up along with other things like vetting.

Hillary is probably posturing with Obama as to what her role will be as HIS SOS and what latitude she will be given for running her office.

If she is going to be micro-managed as is the style of Obama, I hope like hell she runs as far away from Obama as she can.

We all know that no matter what, if she becomes the SOS the MSM and Obama team members that hate her and anti-Clinton people will be on her ass all the way.

I think Hillary is brilliant and is what this country needs as the top diplomat, however, I fear Obama will not stop the Clinton haters from getting in the way of her effectiveness on behalf of this country.

Hillary should be presidebt and Obama should still be in the senate.

Taking all I have said in to consideration, I hope she stays in the senate and watches Obama fail.

Who said anything about “worshipping” Hillary Clinton?

I can tell you as a single poster, I’ve never worshipped her or any other man or woman. She’s not perfect. She’s not a saint. She’s a tough, savvy politician, a woman of enormous talent who has managed to land on her feet in one of the toughest arenas out there–Washington politics.

I have no idea if your friend has the inside scoop on this info. But at this point in time, I suspect most of what we hear or are told “off the cuff” is mere speculation or crass gossip.

    So, we’ll see what happens.

  • BernieO

You have that right. The media is very disdainful of people from the south or a state like Alaska. (I recently heard Mika Brzezinsky say that Palin was picked from “out of nowhere, Alaska”!)

Remember the disrespect journalists showed Carter whom they liked to mock as a peanut farmer? Or their voices dripping with disdain when they talked about Wasilla? One stereotype about those of us in the hinterlands is that we have a bunch of crazy relatives, thus the media obsession with Billy Carter, Roger Clinton and Palin’s family missteps. It confirmed their stereotype. Contrast that with the almost overlooking of Neil Bush’s admission in his divorce deposition to having consorted with call girls. I recently had a discussion about this with some other women and not one of them had heard of Neil’s behavior, but they all remembered the reports about Roger and Billy.

Remember, these media fools are all about pandering to the coolest kid in class, and that kid cannot come from some small, mostly rural state.

  • felizarte

Hillary will have her own plane traveling to wherever in the world she needs to go, complete with red carpet treatment in her meetings with the world leaders. She will be more in the world’s eye than Obama. Before long, everyone will realize that all the good ideas coming out of the Obama administration are straight out of Hillary’s website or past speeches. Obama will simply regurgitate them without any tinge of shame or embarrassment. In the end, Hillary will still be able to claim more foreign policy experience than everyone else who would run for the presidency.

I would most certainly watch her operate with ease in the world stage.

  • BernieO

Right. Hillary conspired with the DNC and Obama to become Sec’y of State rather than President or even Vice President. This article is bizarre.

Maybe Hillary Clinton will help w foreign relations, maybe she won’t. One thing I do know is, her position as SOS is not going to help us for shit with Obama’s socialist agenda.

I could care less now what Hillary Clinton does. She could have made a subtle showing for Obama after he stole the nomination from her to not be labeled as a sore loser. But 79 times?? To me that is not about showing support for the Democratic party, that is about supporting the person. I will never support Obama. Since she obviously now does, then I can’t support her or Bill Clinton anymore either.

    to each their own….

One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we’ve been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle.

The medical-psychological term for this is “bamboozleamnesia.” Victims of this disturbance are prone to say things like “Fool me once . . . (3 second pause) shame . . . Obama remains the inexperienced first-term Senator he was before November 4th. He should rely on Hillary’s international knowledge and connections, because he has none of his own. We will see what happens.

  • hadenough

    now she works for him.

    Change you can hope in!

    Hee!

  • oowawa

    Then how about this one:

“Say what you want about Cheney, he’s really dangerous with a loaded weapon in his hands.”

  • Galt’s Pizza Parlor

I was thinking about the concept of “moving on.” In a sense I see no reason to move on to anything. I am the same as I was prior to this “election” and still support and oppose basically the same things now as back then. Its sad people fell for the Goebbelsesque change mantra. We’re already seeing this is going to be a shadow Clinton presidency redux. That’s fine with me, its better than the amorphous ethereal blob change that no one, even Obama knows what it means. He wanted to win at all costs and now as I’ve said before, the presidency is fitting punishment for him, as is first lady for his spouse. Can you imagine the two of them, filled with simmering rage, having to pretend to be gracious to people they despise?

  • hillstreetblues

I’m kind of scared to say this because I might be called a “bot” or a “troll.”

but I’m feeling confident right now about the government.

I REALLY thought we’d have a chicago gang of thugs using soaring rhetoric to push an unamerican agenda.

But look at the appointments! Obama is gearing up to start the 3rd Clinton term.

I’m NOT happy about how we got here… But I’m THRILLED at the people in this government (other than Obama…) ESPECIALLY HILLARY.

I voted for Palin/Mcain (lol) but I’m starting to think we’re getting a better team (gasp!) with the One in the white house… and Clinton alumni running the show! Just think, if they had won, Hillary would be a junior senater with barely any power over the national agenda.

Without the centrist Clinton wing the white house, there’d be NO ONE to temper the Pelosi/Reed left wing house and senate… Mcain/Palin and Pelosi/Reed would get NOTHING done together… but with Geithner Emmanuel, and CLINTON in charge of the democratic agenda, I think we’re gonna be fine!

  • LandOLincoln

    Holbrooke? Holbrooke??

    How about Wes Clark? though I think that’s a given…Wes, I mean.

  • oowawa

Can you imagine the two of them, filled with simmering rage, having to pretend to be gracious to people they despise?

Excellent, Galt. There was an old episode of The Twilight Zone where a gambler makes a pact with the devil–his soul for the boon of never losing a wager. He finds himself in a casino and he wins every bet–win-win-win-win-and ultimately–boring!!! He finds the devil in the casino and complains, “I can’t go to hell for this! I hate it!” And the devil tells him: “you ARE in hell!” (roughly paraphrased). So Mr. O gets what he wants, his every wish has been granted, and now . . . boring!!!! I’ll bit Michelle’s face will rapidly start to cramp with that gracious smile she’s always going to have to wear while greeting guests. Oh well! It’s really sad!

  • scorbs

I wonder if there’s some desk shuffling planned. Biden out at some point and Hillary in as VP (which I would like). She gets international cred in the meantime, this way.

IMO, she should keep her head down and do the job, rather than “build power bases” and invite attention.

Otherwise we’ll listen to Chris Matthews bloviate like the CRASS windbag he is, endlessly claiming she’s into self-drama, but which actually Chris Matthews created to draw viewership to himself.

  • wodiej

you must be pretty hard up then.

  • Galt’s Pizza Parlor, nautical division

Its not all bad, I will be serving cocktails. As I ha e been saying:

I shall enjoy watching Captain Trainingwheels pilot the Titanic into the abyss as I serve cocktails on the deck of the Carpathia to the patrons of Galt’s Pizza Parlor, nautical division.

Care for a cocktail or a nice imported beer?

Many or maybe even most of Serling’s TV shows were about Karma. And he is correct, it is a real force in the universe: for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. The Obama’s were willing to win at all costs. The winning is their punishment when they realize its not even close to what they imagined. If they won cleanly like Hillary and Mac were committed to doing, there would be no negative karmic blow back. Its just the way things work in this universe and Serling was a genius at teaching this to humanity.

  • lorac

I would like to think that Bill has the goods on Obama (we’ve heard this for a long time), but then why didn’t he arrange to have it leaked out during the primaries? The best arrangement would have been for it to have helped Hillary become president, not revenge after the fact. So it makes me think what he has isn’t important enough (or at least nothing will be done with it).

  • EWard

This is not going to be another Clinton Administration. BO didn’t cheat and accept hundreds of millions of dollars in illegal donations to give power back to the Clintons. “The buck stops with BO.”

We are all being blindsided by these appointments. The key question is what are the core values of BO? No one knows except for his inner circle.

  • oowawa

Unfortunately, I’m afraid we’re all in the same boat, all in the same Mystery Ship. The mystery will be–who’s really steering this thing? Tweety is having fits cuz he thinks Hillary is going to somehow contrive to take over the helm, with tall Captain Bill standing behind her, his arms around her on the wheel as they steer together (good romance novel cover, no?). Tweety’s scared to death that the Chosen One will be prevented from directing course to the Enchanted Land, of which only He and He alone knows the location. Oh well–I’m rambling. Sure I’ll have a beer–I wish these computers could deliver.

  • LandOLincoln

Moss, we certainly did, and I’m sorry, but anyone who thinks Hillary is taking this job out of desperation, or ego, or just because she loves to see her name in the papers, is effing delusional.

As I’ve said before–and IIRC you’ve agreed with me–I believe the Democratic wing of the Democratic party is quietly moving to retake the party and the country from the corrupt and childish BO and his minions, and every Clintonista Obama appoints to his cabinet, I take as further support for my thesis.

& was I the only who ROFLMAO when the Penny Pritzker trial balloon went down in flames, seemingly within minutes of launch?

  • LandOLincoln

When did he say that? Do you have a link?

  • Galt’s Pizza Parlor, nautical division

Tweety wanted to play kingmaker. He’s got his fucking king. Tweety is yet another victim of their own lust for something at all costs. A toast to Tweety’s karma, may it bite him in the ass as hard as his complicity in defrauding the nation did. We have every right to enjoy watching universal justice handed out. I am. Cheers!

  • snosandy

I really like Joe Wilson. Do you remember how vile the HuffPo group were towards him in the primaries because he supported Hillary? It was disgusting, and those are the people who chose the next leader of our country.

  • oowawa

The key question is what are the core values of BO? No one knows except for his inner circle.

I have a very strong feeling that his “inner circle” knows very little about what O’s core values might be. What if everybody has been projecting their own wishes, their own “hopes” regarding core values into a void? What if there is no “there” “there”?

  • Galt’s Pizza Parlor, nautical division

Watch his actions, the ones he can’t hide. He is basically setting up the shadow Clinton presidency redux. We can survive that.

  • LandOLincoln

Exactly, Galt, except “shadow Clinton presidency redux is–you know–reduxdant. ;-)

I am sooo loving this situation, and every time BO announces another Clintonista appointment I do a little dance, make a little..well, never mind that part of the song.

  • LandOLincoln

    EWard said:

Of course he didn’t, but I don’t think he’s got much choice. I don’t know what Big Stick the Big Dawg used on BO back at their meeting back in September, but it sure seems to have put the fear into that arrogant, corrupt SOB.

  • Trudy

    I agree with you 100%.

  • AOK

Bill Clinton came from Arkansas, one of the most rural states in the union. How did he gain the favor of the media until the Lewinsky scandal hit? They loved Dubya until he lied about WMDs in Iraq and his bumbling response to Katrina. Hell, they loved McCain until he picked Palin. She went from a confident go getter at the RNC convention to a joke in the span of one week.

If Hillary didn’t work to outshine the other asshats that were supporting Obama..who would have gotten the most important appointments? Did you really want Kerry or Richardson as SoS?

She campaigned for him and got her people in as well as herself.

We are in a boatload of a mess. More so than we can ever imagine. They are talking about a “deflationary spiral” now. That would be another word for a Great Depression. When prices fall, wages fall and unemployment goes up. However, the bills you owe are still there.

We have always known about Obama. He is a typical corrupt politician with an over blown ego and ambition to match. OK fine, that is who we have now. We do not have the luxury of wishing him ill. Unless of course you want to start singing “Brother Can You Spare a Dime”.

However, we still need to keep his feet to the fire as well as the DNC . Senator Clinton worked her butt off to keep the party together. If the economy tanked now instead of September, the election may have ended up different.

  • hootnannie

Imagine that Obama could end up being the most strident truth-teller about Hillary’s upcoming success as SoS!
But to think that he will put her in as just as a scapegoat presupposes that he believes he will fail. Obama? Please. If anyone except a Clintonphobe like Matthews or Olbermann claims everything that doesn’t pan out perfectly is her fault, it will just appear that Obama made a bad choice and is as foolish or brazenly politically motivated as his critics claim.
I’m going to love it. Obama will be in the position of telling everyone how wonderful his SoS is. And the racists who trashed HER as a racist will have to eat crow or turn on their messiah! I guess Obama is going to give his worshippers a break by announcing her over the holidays, when Chris and Keith can be on vacation and not have to comment on the choice that very night. Wonderful what dopey excuses these two will come up with for The One’s “mistake”?

Excellent ideas–I hope you’ve forwarded them to HRC’s office.

Blumenthal provides the POV you never hear in the MSM, ensconced as they all are with the D.C. establishment, spouting the same rubbish about the Clintons

Last night I was at an event and a NY financier blurted out: “I don’t understand this Clinton as SOS thing. She’s too polarizing, and I mean, what has she done–traveled with her husband?”

This election cycle has clearly shown me how woefully mis/uninformed people are, and how arrogant they are about their ignorant opinions. This guy thinks he’s being so insightful, and all he is doing is repeated hackneyed media talking points. Does anyone read independently anymore (besides people here)?
