Free Speech for Christians?

How damn dumb is Rahm Emmanuel? A rock is smarter. I am talking about the Chik-Fil-A kerfuffle. I presume most, if not all, of you are up to speed on Dan Cathy’s remarks last week reaffirming his religious belief that marriage is between a man and a woman. Here’s what Cathy said:

I don’t agree with Mr. Cathy, but he is a good man and puts his beliefs into action. He does not discriminate against homosexuals, but asserting that a heterosexual marriage is God’s plan is a religious belief shared by most Christians.

So here comes that turd of a human being, Rahm Emmanuel, condemning Cathy as someone who does not share “Chicago values.”

Not respectful, huh?

So what does Rahm Emmanuel say about the anit-Semite Minister Farrakhan? He embraces the Black Army of Islam:

“You cannot get there on just one piece of an anti-crime strategy,” the Chicago mayor and former Barack Obama aide said. “They have decided, the Nation of Islam, to help protect the community. And that’s an important ingredient, like all the other aspects of protecting a neighborhood.”

“Rahmbo” Wednesday formally welcomed the 500-man Islamic army to assist police and other community leaders. Earlier this month, Farrakhan began dispatching hundreds of “Fruit of Islam” members on patrols in different neighborhoods in the city.

So, in Rahm’s twisted world, a Jew-baiting, white hating monster like Farrakhan gets a big hug. That’s Chicago values?

Today was Chik-Fil-A appreciation day. The silent majority of Americans spoke out and went to eat some chicken:

This incident illustrates why Democrats, like Emmanuel, are so out of touch with mainstream America. Today is just one more shovel of dirt on the grave of Barack Obama’s dead and dying Presidency. Americans will tolerate alot, but they won’t stand for politicians who embrace the hatred of assholes like Farrakhan while condemning good men like Cathy, who puts his money where his mouth is and creates a business that employs people of all races and religions.

He opposes homosexual marriage. But he does not refuse to serve homosexuals. He does not refuse to employ homosexuals. And he does not try to silence homosexauls from speaking out about what they believe in. That’s America. Freedom.

    if tiny dancer and the mayors of SF and Boston had understood that the government in this country does not have the right to bar business because of the owner’s private beliefs maybe it would not have been such an issue.

    As far as tiny dancer outsourcing the Chicago police dept, what happens when the first killing or injury happens involving the nation of islam acting in the name of the city of Chicago?

    Can see many law suits down the line

      Rahm will find out he bit off more than he can chew outsourcing policing to the Nation of Islam. No doubt Farrakhan will use this opportunity to try and recruit new members. But I don’t think the gang bangers can “make bank” dressed in black suits and bow ties selling homemade pies and peddling anti-Jew propaganda newspapers on street corners. Make no mistake, this is a disaster waiting to happen.

      Perhaps it’s an indication that Americans are finally realizing that they’re going to have to make a decision about this country in less than 100 days, a decision which could return this country to a value system that meant something and produced greatness, or send it into a further death spiral, leaving us not much better than other socialist leaning countries.
      It may take us awhile to fight back, but I think it’s started. Who’da thought Chick-fil-A would be that catalyst!

    On the surface, the leftist attack on Chick Fil A seems bizarre. Consider that Obama suppoters need to motivate those young voters who supported Obama in 2008 to come out and do it again. These young liberal people aren’t deep thinkers. They get their news from Sat Nite Live or Jon Stewart and vote their emotions. They see gay marriage as a proclamation of romantic love, and very little beyond that. They won’t pay attention long enough to consider Emmanuel’s relationship with Muslims or what it means. If the young thought about it, they would realize Emmanuel thinks the young are stupid and ripe to be used.

    Once again the left has overstepped and a majority of Americans see it. They didn’t so much attack Dan Cathy and Chick-fil-A as they attacked free speech. And I really doubt that in their rush to secure the gay communities money and votes they even saw that.

      Marge since they see this as a gay rights issue rather than a free speech issue, I wonder if they are now second guessing the idea to put gay marriage on their party platform. I suspect the overwhelming support shown yesterday had to have rattled their chain pretty good.

        Seems the libs are all for “choice” so long as it’s a “choice” of which they approve. Which of course, is no choice at all.

    I looked at a lot of photos from across the country. No one waving offensive posters.
    No vulgar physical displays (remember the OWS guy and cop car incident)
    No chants. Just people supporting a business which has been ‘targeted’.

      I think the vulgar displays and offensive posters will occur during the kiss-in. Of course this will be promoted by the LSM as American citizens standing up for their rights.

      I saw a video that had CBS Atlanta saying they weren’t going to cover the story because they thought it was a protest and instead had discovered it was an appreciation day. People can call it what they like. It was a protest against abusive government religious intolerance and assaults on free enterprise. And it was an astounding success.

    I watched Morning Joe long enough this morning to hear a very even-handed discussion of this CFA issue. Much to my surprise, every single guest or panel member who are Democrats actually agreed that this is a free speech issue on both sides – the right to your opinion as a business owner and the right to protest. Where they came down hard were the righteous Mayors Emanuel, Menino and Gray. The ONLY dissenter was Jonathan Capehart, who indignatly stated that HE will never eat at Chick Fila-A again. Whew! Then I won’t run into the little intolerant runt.
    Got a kick out of an interview done in Atlanta yesterday with an older Black man who said “The Chicken ain’t done anything wrong!”

    The people of Chicago should be screaming and protesting loudly but fear will not let them. How liberal is that?

    I had my first cfa meal yesterday, I can’t really afford to eat out that much, but I wanted to show my support for dan cathy being able to voice his opinion. I’m more for civil unions, my reasoning is that there will always be a segment of population that supports gay marriage, another segment that does not.
    For me, its about legal rights for gay/les couples. I work with a lesbian lady, and I think they should have more legal rights along a partnership like a marriage, I used to be only for gay marriage, but she and her partner changed my mind, they want legal rights, they don’t care if its officially called marriage or civil unions.
    That made sense to me, that way for those who don’t want “marriage” redefined, they shouldn’t really have that much of an issue since its now called a “civil union” and the gay/les couples get that legal protection that marriage affords.

    Anyways, I support CFA’s CEOs right to express his views(same views Barky had up until 2 months ago), the restaurant I went to, long long line, lots of very nice people, all races, all genders, I imagine even some gays/les who may not agree with the CEO’s position but certainly support his right to express himself and his faith.
    The restaurant is not discriminating against any customers or employees, then I would have an issue, but he expressed his view which I imagine is held by many millions of other people as well, and he has every right to express it without being punished by the heavy hand of the govt.

    What next? support Barry Soetero, or you can’t open your business in America?

        Please don’t equate this issue with the civil rights movement. Blacks were marginalizing at every level of society. Today nobody is forced to patronized a business–go somewhere else; and if there’s discrimination in the work place, one can sue. Blacks could only eat in certain places and there was no such thing as suing for being discriminated against.

          This is all so much to do with absolutely nothing. Gay people have civil rights. In many regards they have more rights than “straight” people because they can always pull the gay card and claim discrimination.

          I have no issue with people being openly gay. I do have a problem with lack of professionalism in the workplace. I have a right not to be subjected to barrages of nonsense telling me I hate someone or am afraid of them just because their lifestyle is not my cup of tea and because I have no desire to witness their actions. I do not call them immoral, I do call them immature and intolerant.

    I keep coming back to John McCain. McCain does not believe in gay marriage, but he voted AGAINST the federal ban on gay marriage (he believes marriage is a state issue). He had nothing to gain politically – no gay groups recognized McCain’s vote, but you better believe conservative religious groups punished him for that vote.

    Compare an honorable conservative like McCain to a syphillitic whore like Rahm Emanuel, or the worm in the White House who only flip-flopped on gay marriage because he’s written off the Heartland. I’ll take McCain over a political skank any day.

    Larry, it’s not merely a matter of opposing same-sex marriage; his bigotry goes way beyond that. This guy is giving money to hate groups. Having a mayor criticize him isn’t taking his free speech rights. And “a lot” is two words.

        And if Cathy had simply said that he opposed legal recognition of same-sex marriage, that would be one thing. However, his remarks indicate that he believes that the US should be run as a theocracy, and those who oppose this are “arrogant” and “inviting God’s judgment”. If the guy opposes democracy so much, how about moving to Iran and leaving the rest of us alone? Anyone who goes around insulting people for simply not having the same religious beliefs as him has no respect for basic American values. And what’s this about the Biblical definition of marriage? The Bible is rather clear in supporting polygamy.
