The Treasury Bureau’s Bureau of Public Debt Is MIA

Our own MissPolitico uncovered this absolute gem.

Over at the US Department of Treasury, you can find a list of contacts with web site links, such as:

Bureau of Engraving and Printing

Bureau of Public Debt

Now, if you click on the link to the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, you will see this link in your url line.

http://www.moneyfactory.gov/section.cfm/16

moneyNo kidding.

You can’t make this shit up.

They actually call themselves the Money Factory dot Gov. Actually, this seems rather appropriate, since they have been printing money like crazy with no gold standard to back it up, thus guaranteeing that the dollar should be worth about $0.26 next year at this time.

Well, if you are going to visit the Money Factory, then you might just as well visit the Bureau of Public Debt just to see how things are coming along, right? This seems appropriate considering our debts are piled so high that it will take the next three generations to pay them off. And with Barack, Nancy and Harry looking to pork yet a few more trillions into the Great Home Giveaway and The Socialist Union of Wall Street & Auto Manufacturing, my estimate might actually be rather optimistic.

And then there is Barney Frank, of “Fannie Mae is just fine” fame, saying that we shouldn’t really worry about silly things like deficits and we should spend more money as soon as possible. Borrow, print…..whatever!:

So, is it any wonder then, if you pay a visit to the US Treasury’s Bureau of Public Debt site, this is what you will get???:

This is not very re-assuring, is it?

You would think that, at the very least, they would say something like, “Sorry. Gone fishing.”.

Or “Oy, leave us alone”.

Maybe they should rename it “The Bureau of Public Debt Factory”

Humor — we are going to need to keep a sense of humor as we watch the insanity unfold in the coming days and years.

Thanks making us laugh at the absurdity of the fading days of the bush insanity!

It should say, see Your Wallet.

Ever read the front of a dollar bill? This “note” is legal tender for all “debts” public and private. It says right on the front of them what the real deal is. The more debt there is… the more money there is. If there were no debt… there would be no money Federal Reserve Notes.

My parents worked TWO JOBS, so they could throw money in the money hole. And they never complained!

  • bob

Did they each work one job or did they each work two jobs?

  • xax

I mean they could give me my own printing press and I could do this s–t.

    With stucco CNN headlines like;

“Confidence Builder in Chief” displaying BO at the auction block (read podium) when he is not even elected, once again as Richard Clarke said, “Your government has failed you”.

    Next headline;
“Obama to You: “I’ll be bold and swift”.
Sounds like an auctioneer..mmmm. There goes the tractor Vern!

    He sure is talking fast.

    Then…”Obama to Make More News”…econ.announcement tommorrow…”

and the infamous, “Cool Tools to Reachout”…
Uppity Woman, you know how to pick’em! Only I am wondering where in the Universe the “404 page not found” area code is. The one on Earth is Atlanta, Georgia. Go figure.
    Where dead links go.
Federal Laws and Regulations that has a “Deadline to comply: December 31, 2005″ …ooops

How about “The Bureau of Public there are so many 0′s I can’t count them Dept.”?

  • missy

I do believe Obama promised every US citizen a printing press once he took office and cleared it with Nancy. Whoops, my mistake, I meant every “NATURAL BORN CITIZEN”.

Rest assured all, the Bureau of the Public Debt is back online. Wow, what an amazing site. They even have a quote from Alexander Hamilton: “The United States debt, foreign and domestic, was the price of liberty.”

I also learned a bit deeper in, that the Bureau of the Public Debt was named one of the “Best places to work in the Federal Government”. No joke. I guess they must be busy.

It’s very interesting though how Americans view debt. I never realised this until I moved away. I live in Sweden now, and debt, although becoming more acceptable, is not really deemed to be positive here. It’s the other way around in America I think.
