Gates wasn’t Bush’s Jr’s guy. Someone with a brain picked him after they lost the mid-term and Rumsfeld got pushed out.

I might not have agreed with all of his politics, but I would not have considered a former fighter pilot and CIA director a wimp (who would want to call Putin a wimp ?

Nor did Bush … However, Clarke did agree the strike on the Aspirin Factory in Sudan was justified as he also thought Osama would “Boogie to Baghdad.”

I’m happy that the transition from Bush to Obama seems to be more adult than the transition from Clinton to Bush went. The rancor following the election of 2000 may have contributed to the lack of focus on the threat of al Qaeda. Just my opinion. I could be wrong.

Karma is a bitch. Richardson was a worm towards Hillary and I think it is hilarious that he was second, NOT first choice for Commerce Secretary. Penny Pritzker was Obama’s first choice and she turned it down.
