Want further proof of the ignorance and desperation of the Democrats? Look no further than their frenzy in the aftermath of Paul Ryan leveling a charge about the closing of the GM plant in Janesville, Wisconsin in 2009.
Here’s the Dem claim courtesy of the inmates at Big Orange:
And now? Here’s the actual video of Obama making the promise:
But wait, there is more. Although the Klowns at Kos insist the plant closed in 2008, it actually ceased operations, as Paul Ryan stated, in 2009:
Obama said it and, despite his promise, the plant was closed. I dare Obama and the Dems to push that sloppy mess out to the voters.
Thank you Mr. Johnson for all you do to bring forth the truth.

Beautiful, Annie. The secret is that Larry loves writing these posts … he just wishes he had more time to write them ALL day long EVERY day! And so do we!

Such as?

reminds me of that old joke…about the woman who had been married three times…and was still a Virgin…
“They were all Democrats….and they would sit on the bed, and tell me how good it was going to be…but then, nothing ever happened!”
BronwynsHarbor
HILARIOUS!

Oh yeah, that old classic!

Thank you Larry.

Beyond that, I read an article that GM-Janesville was not reopened when GM got some money because of crony capitalism. Pres wanted to pick winners and losers & Ryan’s district was on “losers” list. If I find the article again, I’ll post it. Don’t know how accurate that analysis.
The thing that is so cynical is that they lie & attack in the face of hard evidence that will blow their claims out of the water. I guess they figure most people won’t check.
HObama HObamanana
A copy of the letter Ryan, Feingold and Kohl wrote to GM requesting the Janesville plant remain open.

WTG, HOHO — can I call you HoHo? It’s a lot easer to type :) And it makes me laugh.
There is also this one. And this just for shits and giggles.

jr i think this ties in with the GM dealerships that were forced to close. FORCED. Yes I said forced, A very old dealership here was forced to close and they sold cars out the ying yang.

That’s what made Matthew Dodd’s appearance on ABC Sunday show so damning. He also accused Ryan of lying. George Will disputed it & was ready with Ryan’s exact quote and with the facts about the plant. So Dowd then said well it’s what Ryan meant.
Dowd was the “republican” on the panel; W’s former political advisor.
Disgraceful
BronwynsHarbor
That show stinks to high heaven. Fortunately, the local ABC affiliate preempts it quite often for golf matches — fine with me. We’re not missing anything anyway.

Sounds like the one-on-one Newt had with Tingles regarding “code” language. Tingles said that Reagan referred to the African American welfare queen. Newt insisted Reagan never said African American and Tingles said, “well, we know what he meant.” WTF?
jrterrier
It’s nuts. They only reveal their own thinking, racist and dishonest. They associate any mention of welfare or food stamps with African Americans rather than with the fact for example that at least in raw numbers more whites than blacks receive food stamps.
KenoshaMarge
Never confuse the obama fans with facts. Or maybe do…
DianaLC
The thing is that it’s strange that anyone would immediately call someone a liar when he is speaking about his home town, the town he goes back to each weekend, the place where his long-time friends and family live. Don’t you think those people would stop and check the facts themselves before they say something mean. I am sick of the people who try to call themselves journaliists nowadays.
KenoshaMarge
They don’t think they need to concern themselves with “facts” since the obamamedia simply parrots anything they say.
I know I have written this before……….My sister works for a subsidary of GM in Ohio. One day the Union leaders came in and said Obama was coming to speak the next day and they had a sign up sheet for those who wanted to see him. Space was limited and they should sign up immediately. Well by the end of the day word was sent down it was mandatory attendence. At a plant of 800 they had less than 50 sign up. This was back in 2009.
So I said to my sister……you were at Obama’s speech? She said…….NO I punched out and went home like most of them did.

People have had more fun with “EMPTY CHAIR DAY”! Matthew e-mailed us today to ask us to be sure to post that story, and I regretted telling him that I’d posted it in the open thread. I just know that Matthew would have LOVED to have written that up. Matthew has such a great sense of humor.
As he arrived on hot, sunny day, Obama saw evidence of the storm’s fury – twisted road signs, toppled trees and pools of water beside the road.
The White House has taken pains to depict Obama as deeply engaged in the government’s handling of Isaac and its aftermath. His Republican predecessor, George W. Bush, was heavily criticized for the sluggish federal response to Hurricane Katrina, which devastated New Orleans in 2005.
Being cast in the role of consoler-in-chief could have
political benefits for Obama, who is locked in a tight race with Romney and will accept his party’s nomination in a prime-time speech on Thursday night in Charlotte, North Carolina. The convention begins on Tuesday.
jrterrier
it might as well be a campaign press release.
HObama HObamanana
The AP version is worse.
BronwynsHarbor
“Consoler-in-chief” is a biting remark. Good.
HObama HObamanana
And here is how the AP covers it. Not the least bit politically slanted.
Here is one adoring Obot gushing about her hero (the dude that took until Monday to show up because he was too busy campaigning).
“It’s gross,” said Barbara Melton, 60, who has lived in her home for 23 years and never experienced flooding. “It’s hot, it stinks, but I’m trying to get all this mud and stuff out of my house.”
Melton, broom in hand, smiled when talking about Obama visiting the area.
“Having him here and seeing the situation really helps people be able to cope with what’s going on, what’s happened here.”
BronwynsHarbor
Huh? Barbara, I am heartsick you are facing such a terrible situation, but if only you knew how little Obama cares about you. You can trust us when we tell you that he NEVER gives you a thought except when there’s a camera around. HELL, last week he was too lazy to even campaign! Let alone go to NOLA, even when Mitt Romney beat him to it. He needed the weekend to campaign before he could fit you in, Barbara … and then today, he spent less than an HOUR with you.
shelldoll2
These people will lie about the time of day even if you’re all looking at the same clock.

FYI: Steve Cowell’s Labor Day post, which he puts up every Labor Day, is here.
Tomorrow, “stay tuned” — as they say — for Matthew Weaver’s in-depth analysis of Mit Romney’s campaign and what he will do when HE is in the WHITE HOUSE, along with Ann Romney (!).
And Paul Ryan and his lovely wife and children have let Joe Biden go back to Connecticut, so that the Secret Service doesn’t have to pay Biden $2,300 a month to RENT his cabin so that they can protect him (from what, I cannot imagine, well … unless someone … never mind … I don’t want the Secret Service to knock on my door. Let’s see –> I hope someone tapes his mouth shut! That’ll do just fine! HA!!!!
BronwynsHarbor
ALSO TOMORROW: Do not miss John Batchelor’s “preview” of the Democratic convention. It’s, as usual, a highly perceptive look at Obama et al.
jrterrier
I bet Romney won’t charge the secret service when they stay at the NH home. And he probably won’t take a salary. I don’t think he took a salary when he was MA governor.
BronwynsHarbor
Why on earth are so many of the Romney/Paul YouTube videos set with volume so low that it is hard to hear them? The first video that Larry posted above could be louder. I encounter that all the time … i didn’t post one Romney video because it was nearly impossible to hear it. Ditto one Romney video posted along with the press release at their own campaign site — which is NOT good.
There is nothing wrong with my hearing or with the volume controls on my computer, and the speakers work just fine. I actually wrote an e-mail to Romney’s Web people to complain. Geesh. But that one time the video volume was too low in the video posted at the campaign site, it came from YouTube. Hmmmm … you don’t suppose YouTube is messing with the audio on the Romney and Ryan videos, do you? Naaaaaah. (I feel like an idiot conspiracy theorist now, but it is so odd.)

I just got an e-mail from Paul Ryan:
President Obama and his liberal allies just don’t get it.
The middle class has been crushed under his administration. Gas prices have doubled, incomes have dropped, poverty is headed toward fifty-year highs, and unemployment has been above 8 percent for 42 straight months.
And yet, he still wants you to believe you are better off now than you were four years ago.
Americans deserve a president who gets it: a leader who understands we’re not better off, and who has a plan to fix it.
The present administration has made its choices. And Mitt Romney and I have made ours: before the math and the momentum overwhelm us all, we are going to solve this nation’s economic problems and get America back on track.
Our Plan for a Stronger Middle Class means more jobs, more take-home pay, and better opportunities for all Americans. And we will restore, protect, and strengthen Medicare — for my Mom’s generation, for my generation, and for our children’s generation.
With your help, the Republican team will begin to undo the damage of the last four years. If we’re smart and we’re serious, together we can fix this.

they are doing a good job responding to attacks and pressing the points.

and look over there Sandra Fluke is whining about free birth control…
and lastly, romneys are racists! so is anyone who opposes Barry Soetero!
so there!.

There was no “promise”. Saying “I think you guys are gonna be OK” is not a “promise”. Larry, you’re not this stupid.
http://noquarterusa.net Larry Johnson
No, but you are.
arturo_ui
So poignant, Larry. What you learned in the 7th Grade, we can all benefit from. Thank you, and godspeed.

He said that if the government gets involved, “this plant will be here for another hundred years.” Obama lied and Ryan did not or are you deaf?
LouFilliger
Don’t these people have anything better to do than pick nits? (And I might add, don’t we have anything better to do than defend them? …. remember that if they level 10 charges and we defend 6 of them and are silent on the other 4, you’re going to be able to hear the crickets chirping on the 4 we don’t defend.) Better to just say, Ah, they’re a worthless pack of idiots, to hell with them.
skinny_malinky
I’m sorry, where in Barack’s speech did he make a promise? And in the news clip you posted, they state that 1200 workers were laid off before Christmas, aka before Obama was inaugurated, and a small staff of 100 was kept on to fulfill an order.
So one part of Ryan’s allegation is pretty false, and the other part is mostly false. If you want to add those two things together and say Ryan was telling a whole truth, then I think you’re just trying to see things as you want them to be.

Paul Ryan is turning into the Sarah Palin of 2012.
The GOP got zero bounce from putting Paul Ryan on the ticket. And now his lies are beginning to pile up. His complete distortion of this GM plant closing, trying to blame the closing on Obama, has been accurately called out. Voters in his own district are mad, as he was either completely lying or did not know the facts about this plant in his own district. Either way he is a moron. Add the recent lies about his 2 hour and 50 minute something marathon and his statement that he did not request stimulus funds for his district and the lies are pilling up. Paul Ryan is sinking fast.
The announcement of the plant closing was in June 2008. The majority of the workers had been laid of by December 2008. There were a few workers left to complete the shut down and the final workers left the plant some time in 2010. From late 2008 through the final shut down in 2010 there were a couple hundred workers left out of nearly 3,000 as of June 2008 when the shut down was announced. Continuing to present this plant shut down as something that happened during the Obama Administration is a misrepresentation and a lie.
