Obama Surrendering to Terrorists

* Bumped Up From 09/22/12 *

Despite Obama’s attempt to position himself as a hard-hitting, pipe laying killer of terrorists, his actual policy is helping fuel a resurgence of terrorist strikes. It is true that CIA drone strikes in Pakistan and Yemen have killed a raft of suspected terrorist operatives. Good. It is true that Obama, after much foot dragging, finally was pressured into giving SEAL Team Six the greenlight to kill Osama Bin Laden. But playing whack a mole is not a policy for combating terrorism. On that count, Obama is a failure and is endangering America.

The murder of US Ambassador Chris Stevens in Benghazi, Libya on the anniversary of Al Qaeda’s terrorist strike in America was a stark reminder that the Islamic terrorists remain capable of inflicting harm if given the right environment. And what is that environment? A government that provides terrorists safe haven. Despite US efforts to help oust Libya’s previous tyrant and terrorist supporter–the inimitable Moammar Quaddafi–Obama and his national security team decided to be little more than spectators in helping install a new regime in Tripoli. Unfortunately, the new rulers in Libya had no effective control and Islamic radicals were given space to train and reconstitute.

Rather than take precautions and adopt a policy to identify and destroy the Libyan radical Islamists, Obama and Hillary decided to accommodate and ignore. The payoff for that policy came last week as the US consulate was torched, our Ambassador slaughtered, and other US citizens working for the US Government slain.

And what was Obama’s initial reaction to this?

As I correctly reported, Obama and Hillary tried to deny it was a terrorist attack and lamely characterized this as a spontaneous riot sparked by some obscure anti-Mohammed video no one had seen. But that story now has been completely discredited and, after repeated denials that this was terrorism, the Obama team have reversed course:

Despite clear indications that the attack in Benghazi was an organized, pre-planned terrorist strike, Obama and Hillary and UN Ambassador Susan Rice tried to push the lie that this was just an isolated, spontaneous act of violence. To admit that it was terrorism would be to concede that the Obama team was caught unprepared for terrorism and that appropriate countermeasures and security procedures were not in place. This is worse than mere negligence.

Obama has time to play multiple rounds of golf, but has no time for daily intelligence briefings (which included warnings of possible threats in Libya) and was completely out of touch with the absence of adequate security for his personal representative to Libya.

What is transpiring in Libya is not an isolated incident. With the tacit support of the Obama Administration, the Muslim Brothers have taken control of Egypt and are encouraging the resurgence of the radical theology that gave birth to Al Qaeda more than 20 years ago. The United States policy is, at best, one of idle spectating. Rather than trying to promote a clear vision of secular government based on the rule of law, Obama’s naive, leftist vision is passive aggressive. He cedes political power to tyrants in the name of allowing democracy to go forward. The leaders throughout the Middle East clearly understand that the United States is no longer engaged nor a dependable ally.

The result? Each country moving to pursue their own interest without regard to what the United States might think or desire. Consequently, simmering sectarian strife is boiling over across the region. Sunnis battling Shias in Syria and Iraq. Kurds battling Turks and Iraqis. Taliban rebuilding in Afghanistan as the United States withdraws without securing a peace or a ceasefire.

The situation in Afghanistan and Pakistan is very alarming. Pakistan remains the most active sponsor of terrorist activity in the world. Without money and protection from Pakistan’s Intelligence Service, the Taliban would be far less effective and deadly. While Obama is already celebrating as “victory” his decision to withdraw US forces from Afghanistan. All this does is prove to the religious extremists that Allah is on their side and that the infidels of the West are being vanquished.

Back in Washington, the Obama policy on counter terrorism is in disarray. No one is in charge. State Department, which once was given the lead for coordinating US international policy on this matter, no longer wields any effective leadership. In fact, the current Coordinator for Counter Terrorism, Dan Benjamin, has been effectively sidelined as a player in the Washington bureaucracy. Like Barack Obama, Benjamin is an empty suit in an empty chair. Want proof? Just this week State notified Congress that it is removing a terrorist group–the MEK–from the US list that identifies groups responsible for international terrorist attacks. They are doing this after a coordinated propaganda campaign backed by conservatives and neocons even though the MEK is implicated in recent terrorist attacks inside Iran. The Obama team is sending the message that terrorism is okay as long as you attack our adversaries.

Well, that mindset is why countries like Pakistan and Iran also sponsor terrorist attacks. As long as violence serves your national ambitions and purposes, killing innocents is okay. That is the message being sent by Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. Rather than take a hardline against terrorism, we are back to the vacillation and confusion that was the hallmark of the Presidency of Jimmy Carter and the first term of Ronald Reagan. (Despite popular mythology of Reagan as tough on terror, it was not until halfway through his second term that Reagan finally took steps to organize the United States government to confront the threat.)

We cannot kill our way out of terrorism. While I am all in favor of killing active and prospective terrorists, the key to effectively countering terrorists is to persuade countries to deny all support and protection to those individuals and groups who want to engage in such activity. The reason that Islamic radicals still retain the capability to mount strikes like the one last week in Libya is that the host government failed to make such activity unacceptable. Instead, the radicals were allowed access to funding and training. With safe haven, terrorists can thrive and prosper.

The policies of Barack Obama in the Middle East are creating an opening for Islamic terrorists to reconstitute. What happened last week in Libya is a preview of coming attractions if Obama is reelected.

In this photo posted on the U.S. Embassy Tripoli Facebook page on Aug.
27, 2012, U.S. Ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens, left, shakes
hands with a Libyan man in Tripoli, Libya.

LOS ANGELES — CNN reported on the personal journal of slain American
ambassador Christopher Stevens over objections from his family, a State
    Department spokesman said Saturday.

The news channel, in a story posted online Saturday, said that it found
a journal belonging to Stevens four days after he died in a Sept. 11
attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya. Three other Americans
    also were killed.

CNN broke a pledge to the late ambassador’s family that it wouldn’t
report on the diary, said State Department spokesman Philippe Reines, a
senior adviser to U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.

In a blistering statement, Reines called CNN’s actions “indefensible.”

The channel said in the story online that it took “newsworthy tips”
from Stevens’ diary and confirmed them with other sources. Citing an
unidentified source “familiar with Stevens’ thinking,” CNN said that the
ambassador was concerned about security threats in Benghazi and a “rise
    in Islamic extremism.”

In a statement Saturday, CNN defended its use of the journal’s contents
and asked “why is the State Department now attacking the messenger.”

“CNN did not initially report on the existence of a journal out of
respect for the family, but we felt there were issues raised in the
journal which required full reporting, which we did,” the channel said.

The public has a right to know what CNN learned from “multiple sources”
about fears and warnings of a terror threat before the Benghazi attack,
the channel said, “which are now raising questions about why the State
Department didn’t do more to protect Ambassador Stevens and other U.S.
    personnel.”

“US says Libya attack was terrorism: Was it unprepared for Arab Spring fallout?
    . . .
The repercussions of declaring that the Benghazi attack was a planned terrorist assault on the United States would be extensive. For starters, it would raise questions about the Obama administration’s precautions in a volatile region and its preparedness for anti-US strikes in an area known to harbor Al Qaeda and other Islamist extremist elements.

More broadly, it could call into question President Obama’s Middle East policy in the wake of the Arab awakening. Some Republican critics are already tarring the policy as too weak and dismissive of the threats that the region’s tumult presents.

Far from clarifying the situation, the White House characterization of the Benghazi attack as self-evidently a terrorist attack only muddies the waters further, some foreign-policy experts say.

“I heard that phrase, and I thought, what do they mean? Are they using ‘self-evident’ as kind of a throwaway phrase to say, “Well, this was a situation where violence was used with intent against a US facility”? Or are they saying, ‘We’ve got evidence that this was a preplanned event’?” says Wayne White, a former State Department official with experience in intelligence gathering in the Middle East. “It’s just not clear what this statement really says.”

There have been nearly 33,000 opinions expressed about Obama: Of those, 40 percent are positive, 60 percent negative. Regarding Romney, 21,500 opinions have been posted: 51 percent positive, 49 percent negative. If these numbers are accurate, it tells me this: People aren’t agreeing with what they’re seeing and hearing from the mainstream media. And they feel strongly enough to post something online about it.”

” helping fuel a resurgence of terrorist strikes.”

Bullshit. How about you give us some actual facts or numbers to prove that terrorist strikes have “resurged” or gone up?

“A government that provides terrorists safe haven. ”

    You are completely nuts.

Sorry Larry Johnson if an ex-CIA guy like you cannot deal with a changing world. Your old means of proping up dictators is long gone. The world is a more complex and less dependent on the U.S.

Not clear what you are suggesting. Are you suggesting that the U.S. should have intervened to keep Mubarak, Gaddafi and other dictators in power so that they could have continued to surpress their populations so we would have no riots in the streets? You are completely ridiculous. What would you be doing differently? What would Romney be doing differently? Easy to talk a good game, but you are also an empty suit.

” and are encouraging the resurgence of the radical theology that gave birth to Al Qaeda more than 20 years ago.”

Really? You really believe that. You are nuts. You conveniently leave out that Libya just elected a moderate President and rejected the Muslim Brotherhood candidate.

The fact is that Obama has done a very good job at eliminating Al Qaeda and protecting the homeland from international terrorist attacks. Sorry if that burns your ass.

    • Hokma

What has Obama done sine coming to office?

Obama likes to talk about what he inherited. What he inherited in foreign policy was a stable Middle East. He inherited a plan to withdraw from Iraq which Obama followed but screwed up. He inherited an ex exceptional intelligence apparatus that Obama used and followed through on Bush’s drone strategy. Israel and the Abbas in the West Bank had been going through a process of normalizing relations through economic partnerships. Most importantly, following 9/11 Bush with the bi-partisan support of most laid down a clear red line that your are with us or you are against us in regard to terrorists. Bush reflected the waking of the sleeping giant and it sent confidence with all allies and sent shivers through all enemies. Ghaddafi surrendered his WMDs as a direct result to try and normalize relations with this woken giant.

Iraq? That is a situation that you establish red lines and then become bound by them or lose all credibility. Those were red lines first established by George Bush Sr., and then more by Bill Clinton. As far as the Monday Morning QBs that flip-flopped on Iraq, they have zero credibility and that includes 90% of Democrats.

All Obama had to do was to follow through on what was left by Bush and keep the progress on a stable M.E., finish bringing Israel and the West Bank together in an peace agreement, and to keep going after terrorists and keeping the pressure on other government for not allowing for them, as well as further isolate Iran.

But Obama is a average academic who believed that his presence would convince Muslims and in particular fundamentalist Muslims that he was their friend and the U.S. would not bother them. His speech in Cairo was the beginning of a drastic change in how the U.S. was perceived. To Muslims it appeared the U.S. was admitting that they were wrong and that the radicals were right and that speech empowered all the radial Muslim organizations who used it to recruit and incite – especially the Muslim Brotherhood who had been dead in the water.

That speech was followed by disconnected and confusing actions by Obama:
      - making his first call to Abbas and not calling Israel
      - Making a trip to Cairo, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia and intentionally not going to Israel
      - the white flag surrender in Iraq which paved the way for Iran to fill the vacuum.
      - Afghanistan has changed for the worse
      - turning on Murbarak and backing the radicals
      - backing the Iran regime but turning his back the protesters begging for U.S. support
      - treating Israel like the unwanted ally and intentionally embarrassing Netanyahu on multiple occasions.
      - and there are many more actions

Then there was the order, under great pressure from Clinton and Panetta, to order the raid on Bin Laden. What followed will give you the final piece of what is happening and why.

For weeks and months after the killing of Bin Laden Obama began a glory-seeking campaign of an endless end-zone celebration that included “I” killed Bin Laden and made it an integral part of his campaign. He released classified information to try and establish his image as a CiC going for re-election and in the process exposed the doctor who was integral in finding and confirming Bin Laden and who Obama turned his back on while he sits in Pakistan jail.

In the streets of all these Muslim cities you see cries that now there are thousands of Bin Ladens and if you cannot figure out why, then you really need an education badly.

International relations is based on respect and respect is not based on weakness it is based on power and the perception of power. That is a fundamental axiom that Obama does not understand and why the ME is in such turmoil and why we are now on the precipice of a major war.

I have no doubt if World War III broke out, the feckless fool in the Oval Office would find a way to blame it on Bush.

      • HObama HObamanana

I don’t believe for a moment that Pakistan was not aware of OBL’s residence there. That is why the doctor that helped us has been sentenced for treason. Does anything else make any rational sense? You make tons more very good points. That’s just something that has bothered me for some time now.

    • Theymustbemorons

After last week’s in your face lies about what happened in Libya, can we believe anything about the official story? And why should we place our trust in the official strategy? Or the official leaders?
We are told: Obama gives the order to kill Bin Laden (was he really dragged from the golf course to do it?). He thinks that’s it. The end of Al Qaeda. But Al Qaeda is a Hydra and Obama has only cut off one head. More heads grow back. Obama ain’t no Hercules and he never intended to labor over this. The evidence says he labors over nothing but his second term. Back to golf, back to campaigning.
Obama just wanted “the I-killed-Osama moment” so he could capitalize off it politically. Instead he’s taunted with “Obama, Obama we are all Osamas!” (Back in the Oval Office, does he finger his Nobel Peace Prize and wonder aloud: “Why? Why? I bowed … low. I apologized … loud. I made my magic speech in Cairo once upon a time … millions cheered when I spoke a few words in their language. So why? WTF? Don’t they know who I am and what I mean to everyone on the planet?”)
Still, despite these disturbances in the force, Obama’s eyes are never off his prize, a second term. Not even the brutal murders in Libya can keep him away long from his appointed rounds on the campaign trail. A quick trip to the hangar. A few words in front of the coffins. Make sure Hillary is in the center of those camera shots. And off he goes to Las Vegas. Gotta keep raising the money.
Oh but wait, let us remember, as he often reminds us … he is consumed by the never ending work of preserving the security of the nation. Preserve, protect and defend he swore. Which nation we wonder? Haven’t you seen Obama’s new flag yet? It ain’t ours.

Webster Tarpley’s theory about the CIA’s Mormon Mafia and an October Surprise really makes more sense to me. Of course, that would be the case for someone who doesn’t believe the official 9/11 story or who doesn’t believe that Osama bin Laden died in May, 2012. It’s really not possible to try and defend Barack Obama, but, on the other hand, it’s totally gut-wrenching for me to accept any foreign policy position apparently dictated to Mr Romney by a gang of Neocons and buddy, Bibi.

And most disturbing of all are the statements of Steve Pieczenik on the Alex Jones Show and, who describes himself as a Diaspora Jew and who has some impressive credentials, as far as I am concerned. He had some very harsh words for Netanyahu and clearly laid the blame not only for the current Mideast turmoil but for the 2001 9/11 as well at his feet. Unlike this website, Mr Pieczenik did not seem partisan to me. Maybe he is, but he didn’t seem that way.

          • DianaLC

I know it’s not supposed to be a mosque. Last I heard there isn’t any funding for it anyway???
When my lib family member–married into the family–made fun of me for agreeing with the families of the thousands of victims who overwhelmingly did NOT want it built so near, I asked him how long the resentments lasted between the Irish and the English (he’s from England). In other words, how long did the “Troubles” last?
This is not a question of freedom of religion. It’s a question of good taste and common courtesy.
Your response was not in good taste.

In the Islamic culture only women apologize. Obama is a Muslim woman. We know how much Muslim Men respect their women.

      • http://twitter.com/thebigotbasher The Bigotbasher

So how about the residents of Benghazi forcing the Islamist militia out of town? I guess they a “women” to people like you. We know how much the GOP respect “their women”. See Idiot West and Rush blame women for his Limpballs.

        • Hokma

You really are a fool to believe the B.S, propaganda coming out of Obama media. Actually al Qaeda and their affiliates are getting stronger in Libya.

Okay. Now where are they now that so-called anti-Al Qaeda drove that out.

Not real quick on the draw are you slick? What a moron.

          • beachnan

Jterrier, and you forgot Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin-two women called the c word by the left. You know the same ones who accuse others of a “war on women”. • KataKimbe

All these idiots from the ME come here to lecture us on how we should behave.. and then we have a POTUS who apologizes for the behavior of one of our people? It never seems to end. Just imagine if he is re-elected.

Maybe he will apologize for Bin Lade at the same time.

            • Hokma

In some sports over celebration is a penalty.

In foreign relations the penalties are far worse. I do not expect light on their feet lefties to understand that.

Obama has no guts – not class – and no brains.

            • DianaLC

Playing whack a mole under duress from Gates and Clinton is a different thing. Leaking information about how he “gets” to select the drone targets and has fun doing so is a different thing.
              You’re the bigot.

    • http://twitter.com/thebigotbasher The Bigotbasher

I thought the Iraq war was sold on the basis of selling “democracy to the Middle East”. Now CONs in the US say they didn’t actually want that they in fact like Mubarak and Ghadaffi.

      • HARP2

Why then did the idiot vote to fund it ?

        • http://twitter.com/thebigotbasher The Bigotbasher

As the GOP that thought Palin could have been a great leader kept Iraq off budget. Then when it was added to the budget the TeaTards started complaining about deficits.

          • HARP2

You are starting to babble. We can only hope you don`t start to drool like Chris Matthews.

            Lobotomy hurt much ?

            • Stopthemadness

Well, it is dead as Bin Laden over at the daily kos…so the blathering needs a forum.

        • http://twitter.com/thebigotbasher The Bigotbasher

Rereading, it was a babble, Iraq became fully funded on the first budget of President Obama. Before then it was “off budget”, The GOP now thinks that al that money “spreading democracy to the Middle East” spent during 2003 to 2011 was an entire waste of money and somehow President Obama was to blame for all of it.

          • HARP2

He voted to fund it as did Hillary.
I guess he`s what we call a hypocrite.

            • http://twitter.com/thebigotbasher The Bigotbasher

I am guessing you mean the then Senator Obama. The war was live. He voted to pay for the bullets, weaponry and equipment needed to win the thing when in. It was a vote required in order to keep American troops safe (something Rumsfield failed to do). Not funding the Iraq war would have left soldiers in Iraq without weapons. If the vote failed the GOP would have licked the blood off the floor from 2006 to 2016.

              • HARP2

What a typical liberal explanation for hypocrisy.

The US launched 44 distinct drone strikes in Pakistan in 2009, far more than in previous years.

The vast majority of the deaths, around 700 according to one estimate, have been innocent civilians.
With such a massive civilian toll and so little to show for it, it is
no wonder that Pakistani people have been up in arms over the continued
                strikes.

Don`t come here spouting platitudes about violence when you can`t even admit that your idiot leader is destroying MORE innocent lives, just to get elected.

                Pathetic

                http://news.antiwar.com/2010/01/02/us-killed-700-civilians-in-pakistan-drone-strikes-in-2009/

              • HObama HObamanana

You start by claiming Obama supported the war because soldiers were in the field. Then you state that it was a political decision. Which was it?

              • FLDemFem

Given the overwhelming majority that the funding bills had voting for them, it would have been easy for Obama to vote against them on principle, if he had any. He didn’t. Instead, he said he was against the war while voting for it. Flip flop, flip flop.

          • Hokma

That is because Obama went over with his feckless tail between his legs and begged the entire Muslim world for forgiveness.

When you stop supporting your allies and empower your enemies this is the result.

Add to that his sophomoric gloating campaign over the killing of Bin Laden.

            • http://twitter.com/thebigotbasher The Bigotbasher

and just in case you missed it from watching all that MSNBC, 10 days ago, there was a terrorist attack that killed 4 americans, one of them Ambassador Stevens. First time since 1979 that a US Ambassador was killed. Coincidentally, it happened on 9/11.

  • Cocotrini

All the news today of the Libyan people in their thousand taking to the street and running out the guys that killed the US Ambassador, sorry I don’t buy it, I feel this is just a feel good bit of news from Obama and crew to make us believe everything is alright.

Isn’t it a criminal offense when somebody deliberately causes the death of another for profit?

      • Hokma

The blood of those thousands killed on 9/11 is on Bill Clinton’s hands for not having the guts to kill or capture Bin Laden the multiple times he had a chance. The blood is on Clinton;s hands for also refusing to push forward all of the recommendations from his commission for airport safety that would have prevented these hijackers from being there.

So take your snake oil lies and go peddle it to your fellow basement dwellers at Daily Koz.

        • jrterrier

Of all the concern about the Muslim Brotherhood and Al Qaeda in the ME, I’m seeing very little, if anything, in the news about the MB here at home. Is it fear of being attacked by prominent members of Congress? I am still in shock over the treatment Michelle Bachmann got from her own party when she and 4 other representatives tried to sound the alarm a month or two ago. Is it ignorance, laziness or something more sinister?

    • Hokma

There needs to be more of an alarm and action. Obama does not get it.

    • HObama HObamanana

Because the MB are friendly moderates, doncha know. Just ask Barry the Choom. Or Valerie. Because you know neither one of them would lie. Ever.

Correct me if I am wrong, but didn’t the MB put out one message in English telling people not to protest at the Embassy and another message out in Arabic telling all to join in? I seem to recall that our Embassy caught them doing this.

    • jrterrier

I know persons in law enforcement in AZ and elsewhere along the southern border. they tell me that it is not unusual to find Muslim artifacts along the entry trails into the USA.

I see no reason why Muslims would be entering the USA from that direction except to do us harm.

  • binky354

O/T: If you haven’t seen 2016, you can now watch it on your computer, but it’s not listed so you must have the link. Pass it on, especially to any liberal friends you have left and to independents you may know:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tDY6v8KdSYs&feature=youtu.be

    • binky354

Oops; it was just taken down and no longer available on Youtube. I did get to watch it before it went off! Here is a piece from the author rebutting AP’s Fact Check hit piece:
      http://www.dineshdsouza.com/archives/news/fact-checking-ap-2016-film/

    • KataKimbe

I’d prefer to pay for it to reward the filmmakers. This is why the link is now obsolete.

      • binky354

Don’t you think I’d be happy to pay for it if it was showing in a theater near me? The closest one to me and my friends is 100 – 125 miles. One of the objectives of the movie is to make people think and to warn them. As close as the election is, making it available online would assure that it would reach more people. From what I’ve read, it’s been a smashing economic success so far.

        • KataKimbe

Yes, I do. It’s not playing close to where I live either. I will wait until I can pay to watch it to reward the film makers and show those industry people that not only movies to the left sell. It’s unfortunate. However, it won’t change my mind… because the movie is kind of like preaching to the choir. It has done great so far and could do better if in more outlets… however, ‘stealing’ profits is not the way to go. It is now the 2nd highest in revenue after Fahrenheit 9/11 in the field of Documentaries. It has even outsold An Inconveinent Truth.

          • binky354

In the first place, I didn’t know it was on there illegally. Please don’t sound so damn high and mighty!

            • KataKimbe

Don’t be so defensive. But it is a crime to share movies like that for free on the internet and this link has been going like crazy on FB. Eaxctly why would a movie that is still in theaters be showing for FREE on the internet? It makes no sense, because there were people investing in having this made.

O.K. Now I have another idea. On a recent thread, I suggested a ear plug feed from Newt to Romney so Newt can feed him something to say when the MSM questioner asks a foolish or underhanded question. Now I want Larrry Johnson to have access to the same ear plug to give Romney great comments to make about any foreign policy questions. I just really, really want Romney to accuse Obaby of playing “whack a mole” while what we need is an adult who attends his intelligence briefings and develops a sound foreign policy. I can just see the MSM snoots get their panties in an uproar if someone actually accused Obama of thinking he was playing “Whack a Mole.” (True as it is!)

    http://pjmedia.com/barryrubin/2012/09/21/what-does-israel-do-if-obama-is-reelected/?singlepage=true

    really good question

what does Israel do if backtrack is reelected?

    • Hokma

I truly believe that there will be a war and Israel will likely be battling Iran, Lebanon (Hizbollah), Egypt and possibly Syria depending on what happens there – in addition they will be battling imported fighters from Pakistan and from other Muslim countries.

This is not just about Iran anymore and Obama has allowed this to develop.

The air strike on Iran will likely precipitate this. I expect Great Britain and France to aid Israel while Obama keeps us non-committal except for protecting the Straits of Hormuz.

      • HObama HObamanana

It’s almost got to the point where it would be foolish of Israel not to attack Iran. I never thought I’d say that.

        • Hokma

on behalf of the rest of the world

          • HObama HObamanana

If she did it merely to protect herself I would certain understand and approve of such conduct. Perhaps years later the world would thank Israel. In this current environment I think it safe to assume that condemnation would follow. Frequently and from all quarters.

    • Hokma

      Also saw this:

Mohammad Ali Jafari is the commander of Iran’s Revolutionary
      Guard and said the following:

“Their threats only prove that their enmity with Islam and
the revolution is serious, and eventually this enmity will lead to physical
conflict. We are making all efforts to increase our defensive capabilities so
that if there is an attack … we could defend ourselves and other countries
that need our help with high defensive capabilities.”

      http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/09/22/us-iran-israel-idUSBRE88L04H20120922

      Note
how he is making this a war against Islam and also an engagement involving
      other countries.

      Morsi
of Egypt has already traveled to Iran and I am sure this was the beginnings of
an alliance. Egypt has already moved tanks into the Sinai in a clear violation
of the treaty with Israel although under the pretense of preventing terrorists entering
      Israel.

      While
Muslims may have disagreements amongst groups they are all in agreement with
their hatred of Israel, the U.S., and the West.

      My
concern is that Obama and his weak administration have no clue what is ahead
      and is totally unprepared.

      • Garookie

Perhaps this will give you a clue:
Exerpt from the meeting where Netenyahu made a statement regarding Iran. Obama’s reaction to the statement were, “agitation followed by derision”. Obama then leaned toward the Prime Minister and said:
“You have just as much blood on your hands as they do. They got a right to exist as well. Everybody does. And I don’t want this thing…this back and forth…you and them…I don’t want this turning into an election issue for me, right? I can’t be telling those people how to treat your country any more than you want me telling you how to treat them, right? You see where I’m at in this?
Don’t you turn this into something that might take away Jewish votes for me. That’s what you got going here – I know what you’re up to. Don’t do it. This thing…Iran…don’t try…don’t hurt me politically with it. You need us. We don’t need you.”

        • Hokma

          I believe it.

        • elizabethrc

If there is concrete evidence of this lecture by Obama, it needs to go viral. It’s a clear case of Obama caring only about his reelection, not events around the world.

      • binky354

Or, maybe they know exactly what’s ahead and have plans of how to dispose of America.

My concern is that he knows exactly what is ahead and is totally prepared.

the free syria army just moved it’s command center from Turkey to liberated areas of syria.

how come it was allowed to operate in Turkey????

  • HObama HObamanana

But how do you persuade countries to deny support and protection to these individuals when the governments themselves are the enablers, if not the perpetrators? Efforts in the past have relied upon buying them off with aid, financial and weapons of war. With someone like Mubarak in power those efforts worked. I don’t sense that Morsi would go for anything similar. Sure, he will happily take the money but anyone with more than a few brain cells can tell that this dude is no friend to America. The same can be said about Prime Minister Ashraf of Pakistan and, to a lesser extent, Karzai in Afghanistan.

  • no_longer_a_democrat

Barry Soetero cares so much about diplomats, when he heard the Libyan consulate in Benghazi was under attack, what did he do?? GO TO BED. Heard that 3am call, didn’t give a damn! He had to be fully rested for his fundraisers the next day!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMW0pr296C8&feature=player_embedded

    • HObama HObamanana

I’ve seen this rumor spread about him going to bed but I’ve yet to see any proof. The video certainly doesn’t support that. Are you aware of verifiable proof that Obama heard the news then went to bed?

I’m all for hitting Obama hard and often but I can’t support accusations like this without some verification. That he was asleep at the wheel is without question. Either that or it has been his intention all along to let our enemies win.

      • no_longer_a_democrat

I’ll try to find the link.

    • Stopthemadness

That moment identified his personal values and moral life.

  • Hokma

“host government failed to make such activity unacceptable”

My concern is that host countries are now more than ever being run by terror sympathizing governments. Certainly how do you stop Iran or even Pakistan?

I am not as optimistic as you and believe we (U.S., the west, Israel) are headed inevitably into a major war now. Obama’s feckless and foolish policies opened a Pandora’s box that you just do not put back in and close the lid. Worse than the drone attacks I believe was the reckless campaign to spike the ball over Bin Laden. I believe that did more to inflame this situation than anything else.

As you said, these people cannot be ignored or placated with soft rhetoric.

    • DianaLC

I just think that if these foolish, nonsensical protests purportedly over some dumb Youtube trailer that most of the rioters didn’t see don’t stop, our government should say. O.K. Now we’re going to “take our ball” home, stop giving you any aid, and then use all that extra money to beef up our nuclear weapons capabilities because we don’t like those signs about beheading Americans. Then we should ask them to guess where the bullseye will be.
I am not a violent person. I really am not. I read the book Hiroshima. I studied it in history class when schools still taught history. I sent kids to Japan in a student exchange during the month of the anniversary of the bomb drop. Each one was questioned angrily about it, though they were each only 13 at the time they went. Only my son knew enough to be able to give an opinion. But what was clear at the time they went was this: At that time Japan respected and emulated the U.S.
It doesn’t mean I want to drop the bombs, but they do need the threat, as that is the only type of thing they seem to understand. And we should constantly remind them that in the past, in order to save even more lives than we took, we have a record of making that decision.

      • DianaLC

And I want to bring out our holy books. All the atheists in the progressive wing can deny that the Christian religion was important to the founding of this country, but those of us who have read history thoroughly–not taught through progressive Marxist theory–and who have read our literature thoroughly know that the Christian religion was important to the idea of the representative republic we founded. I say bring out Moses’ s eye for an eye rule. I know Christ said to turn the other cheek, but he also chased the moneychangers from the temple in a fit of rage. There is also the living and dying by the sword statement. They want a holy war. This earth is indeed His Father’s house, and we don’t need these hateful idiots in it.

        • Hokma

          Awesome. Very sagacious.

        • elizabethrc

You speak with more sense than any politician I’ve heard in 3 1/2 years.

      • Hokma

That’s incredible. What an experience. I cannot fathom the enormity of the decision Truman had to make balancing the loss of lives of Japanese citizens versus American soldiers in this unending war – and it still took a second bomb.

      • HELENK2

rabid animals always sense weakness. Since backtrack was installed he has telegraphed weakness to our enemies. For the first time in our history we have a president who shows no interest in securing our borders, protecting our people and has made this country “fair game”

      • binky354

I’m expecting our generation to see World War III.

      • HObama HObamanana

I feel similarly. I don’t condone violence but I do believe in protection and the use of overwhelming force to do so. You are absolutely correct, these maniacs are threatening us every day with their signs, directly provoking us. Yet our government sends them our tax dollars. I don’t care much for it.

Unless these barbarians understand that there are consequences to murdering Americans they will continue to do so. I feel exactly the same about those that threaten to annihilate the Jews. The civilized people of this planet need to stand up and send a very clear signal to these uncivilized barbarians that we aren’t going to put up with any more of their shit.

    • HObama HObamanana

Yeah, Muslims seem pretty riled up all over the globe. And it sure as hell isn’t spontaneous and has nothing to do with that video.

  • HELENK2

I am beginning to believe his is the Manchurian Candidate

    • foxyladi14

      I always thought that.

      • HObama HObamanana

On the other hand, he could be the Munchkin President with Valerie Jarrett as the Wicked Witch of the West and Michelle as Queen of the Flying Monkeys. I knew she got those biceps doing something evil.

  • HELENK2

Is there no one with an ounce of common sense or loyalty to America that advises backtrack or is it that he just will not listen or is not really in charge?

    • DianaLC

      Both, I think.

    • binky354

He’s surrounded himself with those of like ideology.

    http://hotair.com/greenroom/archives/2012/09/22/why-didnt-the-state-department-say-this/

Why didn’t the state dept say this,
please read the one comment highlighted. this was written by a Muslim. he said what the state dept should have

    • HELENK2

      1. Just as Muslims believe that Quran is revealed by God, Americans
believe that freedom of expression is an inalienable riht that flows to
them from God and hence cannot be legislatd by a human.

      2. Freedom of worship (which also includes freedom to not worship) is
seen as a subset of freedom of expression. It is thus unsurprising that
in countries which includes most Muslim majority countries where freedom
of expression is not absolute, the freedom of worship for people not of
majority faith is also severely abridged.

      3. Freedom of expression is tested only during times of conflict. IT is
not much of a freedom to say ” I love my mother and gaajar ka halwa”.
USA does not prevent people from creating videos that offend Christians
either. Please google ‘stand up comedians atheist’ and see what you come
      up with.

      4. Freedom of expression is an empowering tool that allowed ordinary
Americans to fight powerful clergy whose oppression they escaped (refer
Pilgrim Fathers). Today too it has allowed gay right activists to stand
up to priests who totally are against homosexuality because it is
against what is stated in Bible. The opposition to gays is high among
right wing Christians and this also is a huge politicial issue – yet no
one has been able to muzzle the rights of gays BECAUSE of freedom of
      expression.

      5. You have a right to be offended. You do not however have a right to
‘never be offended’. Thus a video that offends you does not violate your
      right.

      6. Finally while you have not mentioned it, someone is sure to bring up
holocaust denial laws as one form of abridgment to freedom of
expression. They should be aware that there are NO holocaust denial laws
      in USA.

        Great points all!

  • kinthenorthwest

Larry why do you think so few in DC are speaking out, even most republicans will not tell the truth.
Seems that we all have to search high and low for the real truth behind what happened over there…
Mean while Obama runs around doing his TV appearances and campaigning…
Obama is NOT answering his 3 am call…
One last question…It is said that the White House knew 90 mins after the initial attack started…So why did we not do anything??

  • MarkFtLaud

I know we need to stay engaged there Larry but my heart says screw them all. We could have a surplus of oil, natural gas and coal if we had the right leadership in DC. I say reduce or even close our embassies in Egypt, Pak and elsewhere. Stop aid from borrowed Chinese money. If they want to live in the 8th century so be it. Allah be praised and kiss my ass.

    • felizarte

I still have to hear from ANY of those in leadership positions articulate a coherent U.S. foreign policy. One would think that it is simple enough to say that it is to protect American interests–its people, collectively and individually.

But it seems that U.S. Interests have come to mean only business interests, which in turn translates to multi-national corporations hardly having any loyalties to the U.S. or its citizens. It is a foreign policy that has not always reflected the common decency of its people as reflected in the constitution. It allows enemies to be given greater consideration than steadfast friends. Recent events demonstrate the pain suffered by U.S. citizens resulting from these policies. Between the financial institutions that seem to control the State Dept. and the military-industrial complex that controls the pentagon, what choice or recourse does the average individual citizen have?

Obama and his subordinates need to explain their governing philosophy when it comes to formulating and executing their policies. We The People, should try harder to make our voices and wishes heard and heeded.

      • jrterrier

I think we have a coherent policy. Cower in fear, appease the mobs, and from time to time deploy drones to assassinate those on some unknown list of enemies.

    • elizabethrc

Mark, the people get it. Obama doesn’t. Congress doesn’t.
Shut them all down and put new people in Congress who are not in Obama’s pocket. His empty suit has very shallow pockets.
Force Obama and the liberals to drill and develop our huge energy resources by taking control of the country Nov. 6th….or tell them to step aside.
Mr. Holllywood can spend 100% of his time boring his celebrity friends with just how terrific he was and how misunderstood he was. Frankly, a growing majority in this country just don’t want to hear his selectively folksy sing song speeches anymore.

      • MarkFtLaud

Lets get the most anti-American apologist out of the White House and into his Hawaii mansion

        • Garookie

Mansion? What’s wrong with a federal prison?

          • MarkFtLaud

            Shame.

        • http://twitter.com/thebigotbasher The Bigotbasher

A conspiracy theory from a GOP con artist that even Larry and “Bronwyn” no longer associate with.

          • MarkFtLaud

How odd. Ok. It you so believe. We Americans have may enemies. Shame they hate us. I grew up in Laos, Singopre and Holland. Probably hit more countries than Larry. Let’s not be naïve here. Its all a shame but just the facts Maam just the facts.

      • MarkFtLaud

I once worked in the 0il industry. We have so much oil. Eliz I’m now in TV. Just there is media basis. I can’t believe I only have 25 percent of Jews when Isl. Is a goner. Another shame they don’t care. I do electoral projs everyday. I expect favorable landslide. Mark

        • beachnan

We need to hear more from you Mark. What information are you getting about the polls?

    • http://lesstalkmoreactivism.blogspot.com/ Canaan

That’s Pat Buchanan’s position. And he’s been consistently right on foreign policy, in my view. $16 trillion in debt and we borrow from China to give to the Muslim Brotherhood? We can’t be held hostage to the idea that we have to be there — that fuels Morsi’s incredible arrogance.

  • mgm

Larry, do you think a Republican administration headed by Romney will be better able to deal with the ME and American security/interests? (History suggests this could be true.) Or is it the case that anyone-would-be-better than Obama

    • Hokma

Romney is analytical and a problem solver.at his core. He would approach this the way Larry presents it in order to best resolve it and then deal with the politics later. With Obama, Bush and prior Presidents it has been primarily dealt with as a political issue without trying to understand what would work.

      • elizabethrc

He would also ask for, listen to, analyze and act on the advice given him by his generals.
        Obama already knows it all!
