Congress is spending a lot of time and taxpayer money on hearings which go absolutely nowhere because of Bush's executive privilege and the Justice department's refusal to prosecute. I think it's time for Congress to start calling the private citizens.

You think? That pig-headed, hard-hearted SOB? Kos believes that Stevens is toast. That'd be great but I wonder if someone that stubborn will give up.

He's also a fossil. He's 83 and considering running again for the Senate in '08. Kos says that the mayor of Anchorage is very popular and may run for the seat. Let's hope. (I can already hear Alaska's wolves howling in delight. Stevens is one of those who champions aerial hunting of wolves.)

From the Anchorage Daily News:

Neighbors said agents showed up between 11 a.m. and noon and that a commercial locksmith was called to open the front door. Some two dozen agents were still there at 9:30 p.m.

Stevens, 83, has long been the most powerful political figure in Alaska and a major force in Congress. A swarm of federal agents serving a search warrant at his home is unprecedented in Alaska politics and is part of what appears to be a widening corruption investigation that first burst into view last August. That's when agents raided the offices of state legislators and oil field services company Veco, among others [...]

The agents were obviously cataloging the house and its fixtures, from light switches and electrical outlets to a big stainless steel barbecue grill on a second-floor deck that neighbors said was hoisted there with a crane. At one point, agents climbed on the pitched metal roof to take pictures of heat tape in the gutters.

One agent carried a full large black garbage bag out of the house and put it in the white truck.

A half-dozen federal vehicles, including a white panel truck with a satellite dish on the roof, were parked in front of the house most of the day. At least 10 more federal vehicles were parked at the ski resort's day lodge a couple of blocks away.

Now he’ll be able to actually, not just figuratively, walk all over the Constitution.

I'm guessing he'll use it in his bathroom. That way he can urinate on it, too.

O/T, (i'm posting here because this is the current top entry.)

susanunpc/all, there is a most fascinating 2 page ad in the main section of my new york times today. on pages 16 & 17 in my midwest edition.

by a guy named paul kuntzler. open letter to donald graham, chairman of the washington compost. about the jfk assassination. i have NEVER seen this stuff mentioned in a msm outlet. this is wild!

susan, i mention you because you said you had two friends who were big jfk buffs. they would love to know about this. this was at the time of the post here on no quarter by david talbot. talbot has written one of the most dangerous books in american history. his magisterial "brothers. the hidden history of the kennedy years."

and to all of you. imho, the jfk assassination was the pivotal event in american history in the 20th century; talbot's book is one of the most illuminating books you will ever read about america.

link to amazon: crossing my fingers.

Wow, Leslie. Gonzales must be quite excited. Now he'll be able to actually, not just figuratively, walk all over the Constitution.

Btw, Inslee's move is the top story at the Seattle Times. Guess I'll have to turn on C-Span!

For Inslee's resolution to grab attention, Just remember that by mid week after the Saturday Night Massacre in 1973, there were about 125 co-sponsorships, or additional resolutions in the hopper.

Time for the demands to be placed on the Congresscritters to either put their name on an existing resolution, or write their own.

It is an excellent resolution, tracking all the best previous practices on impeachment.

From TPM Election Central:

Edwards Campaign To Deliver Giant Constitution To Gonzales
An e-mail from Joe Trippi of the John Edwards campaign has asked supporters to sign a petition calling for Attorney General Alberto Gonzales to resign if he doesn't "remember the constitution that you have sworn to uphold." The Edwards camp promises that "we will send one copy of the Constitution to Gonzales' office for every person who signs our petition. If we reach our goal of 25,000 signatures, we will add all the names to the biggest copy of the Constitution you have ever seen — and send that to his office too!"
