Stand by Me & Each Other * Open Thread

Dr. Kate sent this to me, and that’s so lovely of her to do:

Playing For Change: Song Around the World “Stand By Me”

Text:

(playingforchange.com)

From the award-winning documentary, “Playing For Change: Peace Through Music”, comes the first of many “songs around the world” being released independently. Featured is a cover of the Ben E. King classic by musicians around the world adding their part to the song as it travelled the globe. This and other songs such as “One Love” will be released as digital downloads soon; followed by the film soundtrack and DVD early next year.

I have seen this before and was so impressed with the message that I forwarded it on to all my friends. I will make sure to see the documentary when it is released. It just goes to show there can be harmony in the world, even if it is through music.

Its confirmed that Bush has asked Rice to go to India immediately. He must be worried that the Indians are gonna escalate tensions with the Pakistanis after Indian intelligence proved that the terrorists that attacked Mumbai came from Pakistan.

Nothing like the last election to make you look for the faces of women. We don’t want to be superior … just included.

Maureen Dowd is incensed that one small newspaper in Pasadena is outsourcing their writing to India. Here’s the best line ….

‘I wondered how long it would be before some guy in Bangalore was writing my column about President Obama.’

Hey! Mo! Whoever it is, maybe they will be a little more interested in a fact based content!!!! You have outlived your journalistic usefulness.

      well said

I hope that person in India knows that despite the books and schools now claiming this as fact, Barack Obama is not the President; he is not even the President-elect. He is only the person whose name was on the general election next to the letter D – not all states require the printing of the names of the electors on the ballot – who received more popular votes than any of his opponents. (Ms. Dowd was only a columnist, anyway, and not a hard news reporter.)

By schools, I meant, school buildings bearing his name.

Thank you, the video is very touching. I can’t wait to see “One Heart.”
It reminds me somehow of these lines from Wooden Ships:

Stills: If you smile at me, I will understand
‘Cause that is something everybody everywhere does
    in the same language.
Crosby: I can see by your coat, my friend,
    you’re from the other side,
There’s just one thing I got to know,
Can you tell me please, who won?
