Election Open Thread

I am checking with family and friends in Florida, Maryland and Missouri. Missouri is turning out to be quite a story, with heavy turnout in the Independence/Blue Springs area. Evangelical Christians are out in force and they ain’t voting for Hawaii’s Golden Child. This may also bode well for the Senatorial ambitions of Todd Akin, who, despite his bonehead statement on rape, may actually prevail over Claire McCaskill.

So, what’s going on in your area?

Is turnout up or down? How do you rate the enthusiasm?

  • PainKillerJayne

well no need to play nice anymore………….fatass Mooch has a go to screw American taxpayers out of more cash. Trips for everyone!

  • PainKillerJayne

I just feel sick. I actually went outside cause I felt the need to puke. I did Puke. I can’t believe Ohio would be so stupid.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Ryan-Holley/550626733 Ryan Holley

I don’t understand it. Obama is the most radical, divisive president in our lifetimes, and the economy is in the toilet thanks to his redistributionist policies. Yet Americans want MORE of this?

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Ryan-Holley/550626733 Ryan Holley

What will happen of America now?

  • binky354

Well, I’m through. Low-information voters and fraudulent votes won the day. The winner though is the MSM, damn them to hell for hiding the truth.

    • randi

I just call them the no-longer-free-press. Mainstream..no longer fits. Much of the media seems to answer to elected officials.

  • TexMexSoup

sorry folks, I’m pissed and basically in shock and awe at the reality that is setting in, I truly did not want to believe what I have known for the past 4 years…… I apologize if I am offending anyone tonite but at the same time, Frankly I don’t give a damn ……..

  • HoosierinDixie

Well we tried. I wish I had something encouraging to say about the outcome but I am kind of at a lost for words. Hopefully Obama will realize he does not have a mandate here and will work with the Republicans in Congress as he trys to boost his legacy for the history books.I know it doesn’t sound like much but it is what it is. It certainly was a pleasure getting to know all of you people here at NQ and I sincerely hope we and our country all have brighter days ahead. Good Night and God Bless.

  • jemblue

We are probably headed for four more years like 2005-08. Now that they’ve ushered him through to re-election, Dems have cover to flee Obama when the Beghazi s**t hits the fan and when the true costs of Obamacare become known. We will have an inept lame duck of a President with lousy approval ratings. Obama won’t get much done the next four years. However, he will obstruct Congress’s ability to undo his failed policies. It’s not going to be a lot of fun for anyone involved. Sigh.

  • sowsear1

I read earlier that the plan was to have Obama declared the winner early so that the western states would be demoralized. What happened to not declaring anything until after all of the polls closed…Yes, I know the answer to that!!!

    • stodghie

      yes so did i soweart

  • win43

Sorry, I shouldn’t be here dancing on graves. Glad everybody voted — good night all.

  • jrterrier

Ridiculous. Fox called OH for Obama with a razor thin lead. Rove thinks it’s premature.

    • stodghie

i read that the obama campaign planned on declaring an early victory whether they had it or not
that was a couple of days ago. now you see why i say the polls are riggned and so are the computers the cable shows are using.

  • TexMexSoup

well…… as I have said for the past FOUR years…. I FUCKING TOLD YOU SO!!!!!!!! and I am not cussing at anyone here, I am so pissed at this country….. We are so going to pay now. I knew deep down inside, the USA is just so fucking dumbed down now with stupid uneducated illegals lowering our standard of living, to stupid white people trying to be black…… We are SCREWED…. May God have mercy on our souls. I am so very sorry that my prediction became a reality….

    • win43

You know highly educated whites are a big part of Obama’s coalition, right?

You need to check your assumptions about why your party keeps losing.

      • TexMexSoup

yes and the educated whites are going to burn in hell just like you are punk…..

Oh no comment on the dumb uneducated illegals? just on the whites? FUCK YOU

      • jrterrier

Highly educated people are part of the Romney coalition. And we don’t define ourselves by race, ethnicity or gender.

      • D.A. Smith

Obama’s coalition are called ‘educated idiots’.

        • PainKillerJayne

          lmao………..’educated idiots’.
I liked this analogy……Voting for barry is like an old string of Christmas lights. a lot of them don’t work and the ones that do aren’t so bright.

  • OBAMAISGOD

Obama is better than jesus and god combined

    • win43

      hey look, a crazy person

      • OBAMAISGOD

I am only as crazy as you want me to be

        • win43

I’m actually on your side. You’re just making an ass out of yourself, is all.

          • MG6

How much more debt you think we can handle? Why did the military did not get a chance to vote?

            • win43

Deficits as a share of GDP are essentially the same as they were under Reagan, and interest rates continue to be very low by historical standards. Debt’s not the crisis you think it is, sorry.

              • jemblue

The party in power (whether Dem or GOP) always spews this nonsense . . . “the national debt doesn’t matter.” When 20% of our government’s budget goes to servicing the debt, yeah, it matters. And it’s projected to get a lot worse down the road. Our ability to fund our own government is going to be lost if we don’t make serious changes.

    • D.A. Smith

Add the False Prophet while you’re at it.

      • OBAMAISGOD

so what if i worship satan

      • OBAMAISGOD

so what if i worship satan

        • D.A. Smith

That’s fine, you’ll go down with him when he goes.

  • jrterrier

Fox is projecting OH for Obama.
Call it sour grapes but so much from this administration is fraudulent. the sudden drop in unemployment numbers; the benghazi lies aided & abetted by the media, all the crudeness.
How can American elect a president that calls its oponent a bullshitter and that runs ads that accuse him of murder and a felon?

    • MG6

Well, we the people will suffer because of the fools we have in country. He will drive a bigger debt until this country collapses. The illegals who voted will rue the day they voted for Obama because there will be no jobs for them or the citizen in this country.
He will empty out our banks and places all under the government.

      • MG6

One more thing how can the black community reelect someone in a psych center.
As my Chinese driver (with laughter) said the Americans are committing suicide. The US will be no more hahah…..
Lets see if he can be impeached because of the Bengazi and fast furious.

  • TexMexSoup

God, please don’t get this be a I TOLD YOU SO moment. Please let me be wrong.

  • jrterrier

Tim Kaine (DEM) wins VA. of course, again, couldn’t the Republicans field a better candidate than George Allen, a man who lost his Senate seat 6 years ago because he used an ethnic slur.

  • jrterrier

    Romney wins NC.

OH, IA, FL & VA need to fall in line. I’m still holding out hope for WI & CO.

    • win43

WI and IA already called for Obama. Romney needs every single one of the others you named, now.

      • stodghie

just because an unreliable cable show calls something doesn’t mean you buy it.

  • jemblue

Romney is coming back in FL, OH and CO and has the lead in WI . . . it’s not over.

    • win43

CNN has already called WI for Obama. Romney now needs to run the table: FL, VA, OH, CO.

      He won’t.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Ryan-Holley/550626733 Ryan Holley

I am sweating bullets at the thought of an Obama second term. If you think the first one was bad, just wait until the second when he doesn’t worry about re-election. Remember, he told Putin he would be more “flexible”.

    • randi

Relax and have a drink of your favorite beverage. And wait.

  • http://twitter.com/jbjdjbjd jbjd

Face it. Unless everyone uses paper ballots, in each state; and dozens of us observe the vote count; no one knows what was the actual vote. But this won’t happen as long as we have no idea the dangers of electronic voting.

And unless we implement laws checking whether our candidates are even eligible for the job; we have no idea whether they are.

We just need to work harder…

(Wait till I tell you why TX never filed the ballot challenge I formulated, which would have ‘outed’ BO as not having satisfied eligibility to get on that state’s ballot…)

  • jrterrier

Rove still thinks its doable. So I’m holding out hope.

    • http://www.facebook.com/mary.cusack Mary Cusack

We lost Ohio and Wisconsin we are lost an shariah law is coming say goodbye to your guns

  • D.A. Smith

Elizabeth Warren? I think I’m going to puke.

    • http://www.facebook.com/mary.cusack Mary Cusack

      Mass holes

    • DDDDSSSS

I don’t get that one either. Her personal actions are 180 degrees from her words. But, some people like to believe the words.

      • MG6

No it about voting Dem no matter what!

    • jrterrier

      wait, i’ll join you.

  • jemblue

They say Miami-Dade County is 54% counted . . . anyone know which areas haven’t been counted? Right now Obama is ahead of his own 2008 numbers in the county, which suggests that perhaps the uncounted votes may be in the Cuban-American areas (which of course should go R).

  • jrterrier

McCaskill beats Akin. Total disaster. Gingrich supported Akin when the rest of the REP party told him to step down. Argh

    • TexMexSoup

Ugh another stupid screw the pooch moment for the republicans. Flash back to Nevada where we got screwed with Sharon Angle running against the ultimate weasel, Harry Reid…….hence we have that creep Harry for another go’round.

      • jrterrier

        absolutely.

      • jrterrier

whoever is nominating these idiots have got stop. today harry reid is talking about reconciliation, after spending the entire campaign season telling falsehoods about Mitt Romney.

  • BronwynsHarbor

    OHIO? F—–k

    • jrterrier

Rove says it’s still doable. Hamilton county, suburbs outside Cincinnati haven’t all come in. Hamilton County is Sen Portman’s home area.

  • jrterrier

Fox called WI for Obama but CNN still has not called it.

  • jemblue

Should the GOP think about putting more of an emphasis on early voting in the future? Is it too much of a gamble to wait for your voters to show up on one particular day (when crazy things can happen and prevent some from casting ballots)?

    • DDDDSSSS

It’s partially a state issue. In my current state I couldn’t vote absentee without an approved excuse and notarized ballot. In previous states I have voted early.

    • jrterrier

GOP needs to start to reform the media. FOX is no where as partisan as the combined effect of the others. And it has to work on safeguarding the electoral counting system.
What about the armed forces vote? There were reports that a number of servicemen’s ballots hadn’t been delivered.

And it needs to worry about it’s position with minority voters.

    • BronwynsHarbor

Uh yeah. There are many things i havent posted about but if this goes down badly, I will. A lot of things coulda/shouda … and now we have to bite fingernails? I may watch a TV show for a while… not news.

      • jrterrier

post now. i need to be diverted from this disaster.

    • binky354

I think this ridiculous early voting should be outlawed. It’s ripe for fraud!

      • jrterrier

        agree 100% and photo id.

        • FLDemFem

Here in FL, I had to show a photo id with signature to vote. Was happy to do it.

        • TexMexSoup

Agreed, was at a large Latino grocery store yesterday, the parking lot was just littered with trash, classy, anyway courtesy clerk had an “I voted” sticker on his apron. Um…. This dude is straight up illegal as 90% of the workers are there. I’m sure he voted, this is why the dems blocked voter ID laws, so all these illegals can vote.

  • jrterrier

Wow, CNN projects that Mitt carries Utah. :)

  • DDDDSSSS

Anyone know why NH results come in so slow? They only have 301 precincts and they closed almost 2 hours ago.

    • http://twitter.com/jbjdjbjd jbjd

Maybe hand counted paper ballots? Just guessing…

  • http://twitter.com/jbjdjbjd jbjd

Even assuming people who voted for Obama in 2008 did no vetting of the candidate on their own, relying solely on the conspiratorial press; they still knew he had no executive experience. And they were entitled to do so. But of those people; how many would have voted for him in 2012 if they had known, for example, he was lying to them about Benghazi? (And how many of them would have undertaken such vetting, had they known that the once-esteemed-but-now-totally-discredited CBS 60 Minutes covered up his lie?)

    • binky354

Low-information voters are killing this country.

  • http://www.facebook.com/mary.cusack Mary Cusack

I knew Obama would steal this thing

  • jrterrier

Just lost the Senate seat held by Lugar in IN.

    • HObama HObamanana

Did you really expect that idiot Mourdock to win?

      • jrterrier

Didn’t know much about Mourdock until he shot himself in the foot.

  • jrterrier

Fox just called WI for Obama. How can that be? Walker just beat back the onslaught.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Ryan-Holley/550626733 Ryan Holley

It doesn’t make any sense to me. How can they accept Obama after re-electing Walker by a landslide?

      • jrterrier

CNN hasn’t called it for Obama yet.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Ryan-Holley/550626733 Ryan Holley

Obama just won Wisconsin. Game over. Obama wins.

    • DDDDSSSS

So, I’ve decided you’re a troll. If not, seriously, have a drink and chill out. The earliest polling places haven’t even been closed for 2.5 hours and many are still open. Take a breath, and wait.

    • randi

      Wisconsin (10)48.850.2(3%)
      Called with 2 percent reported?

They can’t call VA with 70% – interesting, huh?
I’ll wait for the votes to be counted.

    • stodghie

ryan you are pathetic and deserve every bad things that happens to your sorry backside if obama gets back in.

  • http://twitter.com/jbjdjbjd jbjd

Ahead in FL; even if no OH, CO and WI takes it (as long as he wins both FL and VA, where he is also ahead).

    PA was always iffy…

    • http://twitter.com/jbjdjbjd jbjd

(…and he must also win NC, where he is also ahead…)

    • jrterrier

      Supposedly FL is now iffy.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Ryan-Holley/550626733 Ryan Holley

I am not usually this much of a nervous wreck, but this election has my stomach in knots. We can’t survive 4 more years of Obama.

If Obama wins, is it because the media covered his ass the entire way? Or is it because Americans have become entitled and look to government for everything?

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Ryan-Holley/550626733 Ryan Holley

Looks like we have 4 more years of Obama. I don’t know how else to spin it.

    • jrterrier

OH, FL, NH, VA, NC and CO, WI, IA have yet to be called. we are still in it.

  • Cold&Tired In PA

Fox just called PA for Obama with 7% in. I think I’m going to bed. I can’t stand it anymore!

    • jrterrier

      hang in.

  • jrterrier

shoot. Fox just called PA for Obama with only 7% of vote in. I hope they are wrong.

  • http://twitter.com/jbjdjbjd jbjd

    49.6 tie with 63% counted. I feel better…

  • jrterrier

VA: hundreds of people still on line waiting to vote in Norfolk, VA.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Ryan-Holley/550626733 Ryan Holley

Is anyone else feeling uneasy right now?? I am a nervous wreck.

    • D.A. Smith

My stomach is in knots. The thought of four years of BHO makes me ill!

    • http://www.facebook.com/margaret.maree Margaret Maree

I’ve been on edge for a couple of hours. Shallow breathing and fluttery stomach. Too bad I quit smoking 3 years ago– I don’t know how to channel this nervous energy.

  • BronwynsHarbor

Eric Bolling had a good, quick method he told viewers on The Five:

If Florida goes late, maybe RR in tight race
Ditto Pennsylvania — if it is called for Obama, early, not good — but NO CALL yet, 9:10 p.m.

P.S. He is Tweeting all day, as he promised.

    • MJP

On Redstate, with 57% counted, Romney down by 0.2%. 49.7 to 49.5.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Ryan-Holley/550626733 Ryan Holley

Looks like the “war on women” is paying off for the left. Scary scary scary.

  • http://twitter.com/jbjdjbjd jbjd

FL: 53.6% of vote counted, R and O tied at 49.6%!

    • http://twitter.com/jbjdjbjd jbjd

This means, R is getting more votes TODAY, because when the count began, O was way ahead, with the early voting tallies!

      • jrterrier

panhandle votes aren’t all in. also think they are still voting in the panhandle (because people were on line when polls closed).

        • http://twitter.com/jbjdjbjd jbjd

How can the totals be running while people are still voting? (Is the Panhandle R or D country?)

          • jemblue

            The Panhandle is strongly Republican.

  • BronwynsHarbor

DrudgeReport.com is fun to check in on. Simple:

ROMNEY WINS: AL, AR, GA, IN, KY, MS, OK, SC, TN, WV…
OBAMA WINS: CT, DC, DE, IL, MA, ME, MD, NJ, RI, VT…

    ENOUGH! LET’S COUNT!
    R 51% O 48%

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Ryan-Holley/550626733 Ryan Holley

MI is a huge disappointment. I hoped it would go to Mitt.

    • http://twitter.com/jbjdjbjd jbjd

I like to see whether the win beat the projected spread. (I anticipated that R would beat the spread…)

  • Cold&Tired In PA

Huh? How can they call Casey wins over Smith when there is only 1% in? I hope this isn’t a bad sign for Romney in PA. I really thought he could do it!

    • http://twitter.com/jbjdjbjd jbjd

They look at the voting composition of that district and extrapolate from that whether the candidate is underperforming.
