I'm male. I <em>deplore</em> violence against women. I <em>detest</em> the men who commit it, and take a zero-tolerance position toward them. I look upon anyone who suggests that women should "know their place" with contempt. I also happen to be an Obama supporter. No doubt there are plenty of Obama supporters who are total jackasses, just as there are plenty of jackasses of <em>all</em> political persuasions. The sort of generalization implied by some here is offensive. I'm on the same side of this particular issue as you are. Do you really want to classify me as an enemy, soley on the basis of my political position or gender? That's counter-productive, to say the least. But I do think if even a 100 pound petite female carries herself with self confidence, she will be less likely to be harrassed. We must DIVEST FROM MISOGYNY! Stop supporting companies that have men that sing songs calling women misogynistic/sexist names. Stop supporting companies based in countries that don’t value Women as Human Beings and don’t afford them Human Rights.
