Dr. Benjamin Carson Shames Obama

Several of you have commented on the following video and it certainly is becoming a viral sensation. It is the speech of Dr. Benjamin Carson before the National Prayer Breakfast this week. His remarks, while delivered with the calm logic of a skilled surgeon, were passionate and hard hitting. Carson, in case you’ve never heard of him, is the exact opposite of Barack Obama. He is a man who genuinely overcame poverty and, through determination and hard work, became a world renowned neurosurgeon.

Many have commented on the video but most seem to have missed the key moment. It came when Carson described what it was like to grow up in poverty with a single working mom. The contrast between Carson’s mother and the batshit broad who birthed Obama was the elephant in the room. Obama was lucky that he had his grandparents. They were the ones who effectively raised him. He did not have the type of mother that Carson did and, if you look carefully, you can see that fact eating away at him.

Carson spoke truth to power.

He came with no ideological agenda. His concern is solely with creating opportunity and independence. He reminds all who take time to listen that teaching slaves to read once was a crime. Why? Because slaveholders understood that literate blacks could not be kept in chains.

Today we have reached the point where the liberal, black establishment have become the new slave masters. Their strident support for teacher unions and tolerance of underperforming public schools is creating a new generation of slaves–black boys and girls who cannot read and will be nothing more than chattel to their new massa–the Federal Government.

God bless Ben Carson. Too bad he did not run against Obama. He would have my vote.

THE PROBLEM WITH BLACK AMERICANS IS THAT THEY PUT ALL THEIR EGGS IN ONE BASKET. BLACKS DO NOT FIGHT AND DEMAND ANYTHING FOR THEIR PRECIOUS VOTES. THEY DO NOT READ HISTORY AND DO NOT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE PARTY THAT THEY HAVE BEEN LOYAL TO FOR DECADES. THEY DO NOT KNOW THAT THE DEMOCRATE PARTY IS THE PARTY OF THE KKK. THE DEMOCRATES KNEW THAT THEY WERE LOSING THEIR GRIP ON BLACK AMERICANS , SO THEY SENT OBAMA OUT TO TRICK BLACK AMERICANS AND TO HOLD THEM IN SLAVERY AND BONDAGE FOR THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY.THE MORE EDUCATED THAT BLACKS BECOME THE LESS USE THAT THEY HAVE FOR THE DEMOCRATIVE PARTY. THEY DEMOCRATES HAVE DISGRACED AND DEMOLIZED BLACK AMERICANS. THEY HAVE MADE BLACK AMERICANS OUT OF IMMORAL DEGENERATES. THEY USE TOOLS LIKE RAPPERS, BEYONCE, JAY-Z, PUFFY, RIHANNA, KATY PERRY, KIM KASDSIAN, ETC, TO PLAY ON THE LUSTFUL SIDE OF THE BLACK MAN.
BLACK ARE IN A WORST CONDITION THEN THEY WERE WHEN LINCOLN WAS ALIVE. NOW THE ILLEGAL ALIENS ARE TRYING TO RIDE ON THE BLACK MAN’S COATTAIL , LIKE EVERYONE ELSE HAVE. THAT IS WHY OBAMA WANTS IMMIGRATION SIGN NOW. NO PARTY CAN WIN ANY ELECTION WITHOUT THE BLACK VOTES. ASIAN , WOMEN AND HISPANIC VOTE DEMOCRATES BECAUSE THEY KNOW BLACKS VOTE IN LARGE BLOCKS FOR THEIR CANDIDATES. THEY JUST ADD THEIR VOTES TO THE BLACK VOTES AND WIN. ONCE THEY WIN THEY DEMAND THEIR PLATFORMS AND AGENDA FOR THEIR VOTES. THE BLACKS HAVE BEEN WITH THE DEMOCRATES FOR 5 DECADES AND HAVE NEVER FOUGHT AND DEMANDED ANYTHING. THAT IS WHY THEY ARE IN THE SHOES THEY ARE IN. BLACKS ARE SLEEPING GIANTS THAT ARE AWAKING AND OBAMA WANTS THE ILLEGAL ALIENS TO RIDE ON THE BLACKS BACKS LIKE A DOG IN HEAT. IF THE BLACKS WAKE UP, AND SUPPORT DR. BEN CARSON FOR PRESIDENT, BLACK WILL COME OUT OF THEIR DEEP SLEEP. THE DEMOCRATES WILL LOSE EVERY ELECTION AFTER THIS ONE. EVERYONE WILL BE CONFUSED AND NOT KNOW WHO BLACKS ARE VOTING FOR. .

I thought Obama came from Kenya. So not bad of an achievement by Obama to come from Kenya to be the President of the United States. That is a bigger achievement than anything Carson has done. Deceiving all us Americans to vote for a foreigner…. and a commie at that.

At least both Carson and Obama had to pull themselves up by their boot-straps, whereas your heroes Romney, Reagan and most of your Republican party were born with a silver spoon in their mouths with all the advantages and privledges.

Why do you think some schools underperform? I bet you think it is all because of the Unions? Those bad mean Unions! Seems too easy to just blame the Unions. Why do you think black illiteracy is so high? It must also be because of those Unions? Right Mr. “Conservative”. If only the world was so simple Larry Johnson. • DianaLC

I have to agree with you that the major reason that Dr. Carson is who he is and Obama is who he is comes from the differences between the two mothers and their influence on the two men at an early age.
I was in awe of Dr. Carson’s mother as he described her. I could only wonder if I would, in the same circumstances, be as strong and wise as she was at such an early age.
Then when he described her requirement in regard to the book reports, I thought of my own mother taking us to the local library every week and of the impact of books on my life.
I am so saddened by the neglect of reading nowadays. Sure people read tweets, emails, and short news blurbs. But so few read from the minds of all those wise people who have so much to tell us from ages past because they can’t concentrate long enough to get through a book or they feel they are too busy with their lives, which they have often deliberately made too busy in an effort to meet some politically correct standard of what one’s life should be.
I came from a poorer household than most of my classmates’ homes. We were in no way as poor as Dr. Carson’s. If I had not read so much and if our puclic schools had been as bad as they are today, I would never have moved at all towards the life I lead today, one that satisfies me and makes me proud.
During the last years of teaching, I often became terribly unhappy with the situation that Dr. Carson describes: the absolute deification almost of athletic achievement (Roman gladiators, anyone?) and the neglect of the academics. I watched year after year during my last years of teaching students who were not really good students getting big buck athletic scholarships while my best and brightest students had to struggle for scholarships and grants, etc. I watched even poorer students (in the sense of not being as bright) get more financial help since they were “first generation” or because they came from a certain ethnic background.
I watched as “nerds” became the butt of jokes.
I see Dr. Carson as the quintessential nerd. He is successful, and he is right in his thinking about the state of our country and its inability to have rational discussions.
And it makes me very sad that on the Hannity clip that HELENK2 provided he says he would consider running for POTUS only if God took him by the collar and forced him. Think back and remember his point about doctors being among the framers of the Constitution in large numbers while nowadays lawyers are in control.
I am so happy that we still have people like Dr. Carson to listen to. I am afraid, however, that the majority won’t appreciate people like him until after they have to go through the trial by fire, so to speak, of living in a totalitarian, communist country. I am worried that it’s too late.

victor davis hanson and allen west on the decline of education in this country

      • DianaLC

        HELENK2,

I hope I am not being too pedantic here. So my response to your excellent link will be a long illustrative response.

I agree completely with Davis Hanson about the time period for when our educational system went down the tubes, I was teaching during that time. I began teaching when some of Jackie Kennedy’s (and many others’) opinions about the importance of a good classical style of education to a free society–art, literature, philosophy, etc.–were considered the cornerstones.

Teaching English was exciting as we were teaching the building blocks to great literature–how to analyze plot, character, theme, setting, point of view, etc.–of a piece of literature. Our text books (as they still do) contained only time-tested great literature.

Nowadays, most young teachers hardly use the texts and instead pick current facile, superficial, simplistic books that are, in their minds, relevant. Most of the plots, dialogue, themes, are also facile simplistic and supeficial and will not be remembered two years later. But they get great class discussions that have nothing to do with literature and what a great piece of literature will give them in terms of insight to the ways to lead lives.

I remember being waylaid by some young teachers in the teachers’ lounge about Romeo and Juliet, since we were all teaching that to ninth graders. They were so proud of themselves for the great “creative” responses they got from their students from an assignment that asked the students to choose what they thought was the turning point of the play and defend their decision.

I dismissed them and said that their job had been to show them the turning point and to explain why it was the turning point because that is the reason this play is always included in the ninth grade texts.

First, Shakespeare always notoriously took the stories for his plays from popular poems and stories at the time. The most current popular poem of his time as he was writing that play had a clear moral–the dangers of the irrational actions of youth, of not listening the wisdom of the past. It was a poem meant to teach young people to listen more to their elders. It was not, as we like to think, only a story of young beautiful love.

Second, Shakespear had read Aristotle’s Poetics and his theories about tragedy and the “tragic flaw” of the tragic hero. That meant that Shakepeare always followed the idea of symmetry in his plays, meaning they would be five acts with the turning point in the middle third act. (Shakespeare could not always follow all of Aristotle’s rules, but tried to follow what he could). That left an equal rising action and falling action.

From that it was easy to see that Romeo’s flaw, his youthful emotional rashness had to be at the root of the turning point. It came after he turned away from Tybalt, Juliet’s cousin, who challenged him to a fight. He said he had more reason to love Tybalt then than to hate him because of family feuds. Romeo’s best friend Mercutio (the Prince’s cousin) then thinks Romeo is being a coward and so fights Tybalt and is killed. Then Romeo abandons his first mature answer and irrationally and emotionally fights and kills Tybalt and brings down the banishment of the Prince. From there it’s all down hill.

I then took apart all the illogic of some of the beliefs their students had posited, blaming it on the nurse or on Friar Laurence, etc.

I remember the silence as I left the teachers’ lounge. Maybe teaching English was about more than eliciting creative responses, though illogical ones. Maybe it is about more than discussing current teenage feelings.
These young teachers are learning only stupid critical theories, as Hanson said–gender studies, post-modernism, deconstructionism, marxist critical theory, etc. None of them know about the classic building blocks of great literature.
But that period of time when I first taught didn’t last long for me. Funding for arts and humanities was dropped for funding for mathematics and science (all good because they of course also teach logic) because of the arms race. The importance of the arts and humanities for keeping a culture unified, however, was dropped, and in its place those fields of study became nothing but the teaching of pablum.
Who killed Homer, indeed! And who killed Virgil? Who killed the long ago author of Beowulf? Who killed so many writers that no one reads any more? I always feel like a throwback to another time, though in my mind a better time.

        • HELENK2

I get so angry at times, because I feel we are really cheating our kids by not giving them a good education and not teaching them to want one

          • buzzlatte3

It was the kumbyah and service projects that annoyed me – time taken away from education for things that needed to be taught at home. The other thing was the time spent in behavioral intervention that took away instructional time from the group as a whole. The kids saw that being disruptive got the whole class off track and they used to distract from the subject of the day. The Dept of Ed silliness killed American Public Schools.

            • DianaLC

I agree, but think about the rise in the power of the Dept. of Ed. and the power of the unions. It came after the Academic Departments lost their control over what should be taught and then went down the road of social engineering. Give kids pablum for education and they react as temper tantrum throwing toddlers.

        • Justine00

So well put, DianaLC: “The idea of teaching children rather than making children think they are already budding geniuses was beyond them. ”
          .

      *****************

I know what you mean. On the other hand, it’s hard to believe today, but this is what black families did. Those who were ‘uneducated’ understood how important education was. and that to have a chance in life, their children would get an education–some how; some way. It was the prority.

My grandmother (who raised me) and great grand parents, migrated from Louisiana to CA when my father was young. Her best friend, Mattie Pearl, who had a grade-school education, ran a one-room school in her basement. At the time, there was no formal setting for black kids to go to school. So Mattie set up one. I don’t recall the number that attended, but all of them, including Mattie’s daughter, went on the college/university. ALL OF THEM.

      • DianaLC

I remember that at the start of the drive for voucher programs and charter schools, an inner city Black Woman was in the news because she began on her own taking in children to school. And her major reading requirements were from Shakespeare. Her point was that the reading could be handled by these students whom everyone had already marked as impossible to educate and that they deserved a real education instead of the things they were getting in schools.

I’ve often thought of that woman and wish I could remember her name. It was during the first part of my turning away from the Democratic Party platform. I had a young son who was also suffering from the junk being provided him and the emotional scarring of being in a small town school. I wished at the time that I could have stopped earning a salary and established my own home school.

the democrats are scared to death of a man like Dr Carson. they could never control him and his message. His accomplishments are so amazing that he should be a role model to all. He gives his time and money to give many a start. He believes in lifting up not holding down.

Dr. Carson would have my vote too. He not only speaks truth to power, he speaks it simply and with passion and with humor. No whine in Dr. Carson.

I noted the difference between his mother and the dingbat that birthed Obama. Dr. Carson’s mother prepared her children to face the world and succeed. She didn’t make them dependent, she made them strong and independent. What a woman!

Obama was fortunate to have his grandparents, as you said, as his mother seemed to care about little except what ever it was took her fancy at some point in time. The slice didn’t fall far from the ham.

    • getfitnow

I loved the way Dr. Carson damned PC right out of the gate?

      • KenoshaMarge

So did I! Too bad there aren’t more with the courage and integrity of Dr. Carson!

      • DianaLC

And he did it in such a way that prevents smart people from claiming he shouldn’t be saying what he does in the speech.

Yesterday on The Five, dumbo Beckel tried to get his “one more thing.” It was going to be a jab at Dr. Carson over Carson’s statements about tax codes and the class warfare and tithing. He started by pretending to be so Christian and referring to the Apostle Paul’s teaching about paying the government. And then he tried to go into a diatribe about how wrong it was to try to embarrass THE ONE on that stage. The other’s quickly shut him down.
I wish there had been time and that someone had enough knowledge of Biblical interpretation to have countered what he thought was the lesson in the Bible that he was referring to. It would have been a perfect chance to show the stupidity of the left in this regard.
Most people don’t realize that at the time Christ made the “render unto Caesar” statement, the Jews were not only paying extremely high taxes to the ROMANS (and thus connecting it to Carson’s implications about the fall of Rome) and then having to tithe for their religious leaders (many of whom were at the time very corrupt). These people were being taxed to death. Christ was trying to get them to see that the revolution should come in the manner of their attitudes and in their faith.
What does history teach us but that Christianity often grew and took over not through rebellion so much as through the truths it teaches?
A history lesson for Mr. Beckel through non-politically-correct speech might go a long way.
It’s sad for me that television itself with all the interruptions for ads and with the time constraints for each show doesn’t allow for good clear lessons.
I am sad that Dr. Carson’s speech couldn’t have been much longer.

Barry needs minorities, especially blacks, to feel not empowered, to stay on the dimocrat plantation.

I have black members in my family and many voted for Barry the first time, and were stunned when they saw how he spoke to the less educated blacks, he talked down to them, like they were to be herded.

Dimocrats need blacks to stay poor, uneducated, dependent on the govt, how else can dimocrats control them? They send their own kids to private schools, but cut off chartered schools so that kids in inner cities have no way to get a better education and make something of their lives.

Amen to that. The man is a true example of an american success story. He doesn’t race bait. All conservatives, especially minority ones like Dr. Carson, Senator Tim Scott, Dr. Thomas Sowell make Barry Soetero look like the ignorant arrogant Chicago thug, punk that he truly is.

I loved his comment about lawyers who are politicians–’the problem is they’re only interested in winning!’ Ain’t that the truth–by any means necessary.
