State of the Union–Open Thread

Okay ladies and gents. Here you go. I can’t bear to watch the arrogant ass. My tolerance for listening to a litany of lies was surpassed months ago.

The yawning gulf between the myth of Obama pushed by the fawning media and the actual reality of a disengaged egotist puts the Grand Canyon to shame.

We learned last week from the outgoing Secretary of Defense that Obama was missing in action while American citizens in Benghazi were under attack and Ambassador Stevens had gone missing. Rather than order U.S. military forces to the scene to seize, hold and protect the two U.S. facilities in Benghazi, Obama hopped a plane for Vegas. He had fund raising to do.

And now, tonight, we get to hear him once again insist that the economy and jobs are his top priority. That is one steaming pile of bullshit.

Tonight we will get pandering, posturing and jutting jaw mixed with fake tears. What a gawdawful spectacle. Your thoughts?

    Happy Valentine’s Day! Everyone!!!!!

  • Ian McCloud

Your blind hatred of Obama is a joke. I guess that is what happens when you run a hate-Obama website for 5 years. You have gone full Tea-Party nuts.

Funny, but your GOP stopped talking about jobs after Romney lost. All they talk about now is the deficit and the austerity of spending cuts, which would hurt jobs and the economy.

Keep on with your Benghazi bullshit. It does not help your cause. Just makes you look very very small.

Dana Milbank has an excellent piece on the speech. He said it’s appropriate that the State of the Union speech and Mardi Gras fall on the same day.
He said one is a display of wretched excess, when giddy and rowdy participants give in to reckless and irresponsible behaviour.
The other is a street festival in New Orleans.
He said that what went on under the Capitol Dome was as as debauched as anything on Bourbon Street.
He then went on to use both barrels on both parties as well he should.
It’s a shame that 61 million Americans won’t be swayed from their adulation of this pitiful leader who doesn’t have a clue about how to lead. Liberals quite clearly have no sense of shame, their standards are dropping like a stone and their thinking will never rises above the level of Obama’s meaningless promises.
What staggers me is that some 66 million people voted for Obama while 61 million voted against him. That 5 million doesn’t even equate to the population in New York City.
I continue to wonder how those 66 million are going to react when THEIR rights and their freedoms are curtailed right along with ours.

    • DianaLC

I don’t care about the rights of those who voted for Obama because they sure didn’t care about the rights of those who have brains.

Canada Post cuts likely as Crown corporation faces $327M operating loss

In order to stay afloat, Canada Post is considering:

reducing home delivery from five to four, or even three, days

closing some of the 6,500 retail outlets across the country

consolidating its 21 sorting centres to just major cities.

I just hearc a CNN interview over this cop who was taken down. Why CNN brought in former SEAL sniper for comment is way above me. Additionally, while we need guys like this SEAL in the military. His comments were way the fuck out if line. Meateaters are trainer very differently than law enforcement and should remember that.
So this seaweed picker believes eveyone who was not there should shut up? Really? So the recording of the cop yelling burn the MF out should be overlooked..eh? Just because this cop had a manifesto does not mean its fucking ok to judicially kill him or anyone else. I will wait and see what the investigation turns up. But special operators should comment on the areas they are trained and operate in otherwise they should shut the fuck up.

“We suspect that our kids would be better off at forty for spending a summer on a tractor at fifteen, but we just can’t seem to risk the loss of a season’s computer camp or eco-camp in the bargain.”
I loved this one, as I remember my own father becoming a little annoyed with me since I just could not make those straight rows in the field driving a tractor.
I remember two Japanese exchange students on a trip to my sister’s farm/ranch. My fourteen-year-old nephew drover them all over the ranch and showed them all the animals and let them help as he fed the calves while the cows were being milked. All the 175-mile trip back to my house, I heard them jabbering together in Japanese, but I could pick out one word: the name of my nephew, who was obviously the topic of their discussion.
I recently finally made copies of my family history on my father’s side. With that I included a small autobiography of my uncle that I helped edit. He’s my dad’s last sibling living. My two sons read that and both of them had the same comment–as they read about all the things he got to do growing up on the farm and about how all that helped him during his tour of duty in the Navy and for getting jobs later in those good old days. They both said, “I wish I could have grown up in those times.”

“steaming pile of bullshit.” ‘nuf said.

We’ve been watching the new version of House of Cards (Kevin Spacey, Robin Wright) on Netflix. It’s good and getting better at episode #4. Also downloaded and am getting caught up on Justified (fantastic!) and the brand new series by the Justified team titled The Americans – a Cold War yarn that shows a lot of promise at episode #2. Then there’s my continuing delight rewatching the #1 favorite TV series of my youth – My Three Sons. I know, weird. But I love it. A friend taped most of the 12 seasons and I find it to be a complete escape. It is utterly without guile, and hence the perfect antidote to the steamin’ pile in which we find ourselves immersed.

Yep, just another corpse on the ash heap of Leftism.

  • elizabethrc

I heard Hoyer said that we don’t haved a spending problem, we have a paying for it problem. This even tops Pelosi’s frankly stupid comment that we don’t have a spending problem, we have a deficit problem.
If I could take a look at the “are you qualified to be a Congressperson” regs, first on the list would be: you may not have an IQ above 80. These are stunningly stupid people.

    • KenoshaMarge

But they are speaking, for the most part, to stunningly stupid people who swallow the swill they recite.

      • elizabethrc

And they will give Obama’s second vacation of the year, which is 6 weeks old, a total pass.

  • elizabethrc

I particularly liked his comment that his programs wouldn’t increase the debt (paraphrasing). Didn’t he also say, right after he became President, that he would cut the deficit in half by the end of his first term? Look how effective he was with that!
Believe nothing this man says. His words are nothing more than expedience to impress his audience at the moment. No matter how dramatically they are delivered, upon reflection, they’re still a whole lot of nothing. It’s such a shame that independent thinking has become an American dinosaur.
    I will not watch him.
Apparently, off topic, but not quite, he’s issuing an executive order to cut our nuclear arsenal by a third. Russia and China must be thrilled that he will make us highly vulnerable.
A well spoken charlatan is still a charlatan.

  • HARP2

Damn…..I missed it. Oh well, I can watch last years or next year and hear the same damn thing.

  • Van_Dessel

I really don’t like Obama and watching the idiots get up and get down like they are at a Carey Wells concert. But Rubio’s “forceful rebuttal” was a waste of time. Don’t these guys get tired of talking and maybe start doing something that backs up their words. 1/2 the country is tired of these pontificating ******** and 1/2 the country believes every word that’s being sold.

    • getfitnow

Rubio’s speech hit all the right notes- the best response to SOTU I can recall hearing. However, anyone who isn’t skeptical of all politicians, at this point, might possibly have some kind of attention deficit issue.

  • Justine00

I can’t watch/listen to Obummer either. Waste of time.
    .

  • DianaLC

I couldn’t watch any of the politics. It’s just too disappointing. I caught a bit of the Luntz poll stuff. It seems they are giving a favorable reaction to both Obama and Rubio. But what was funny was that though they gave Obama a favorable rating for what he said, they also don’t believe he will do anything favorable for the country.
That’s been Obama all along. He talks, talks, talks, but he just lets everything go to hell because he doesn’t know how to accomplish anything constructive. At this point D.C. is just a totally plugged up toilet as far as I can tell.

    • KenoshaMarge

I just don’t understand that kind of crap. How in hell can you perceive someone favorably and not believe what they are saying? What is wrong with people?

So what is the other language French? I went to school with bi-lingual students. There were students that were Swedes,, Spanish, German etc. Popsmoke you don’t seem to like this country or it’s peoples at all. Live overseas for a few years. . You can always become an expatriate. Talk about a carbon footprint.
