On Thursday night’s Daily Show, correspondent Aasif Mandvi tried to understand what type of crazy person wouldn’t want to give up their career in local politics to join the ineffective, corrupt, gridlocked, partisan Congress. He spoke to one state official who was approached by the Democratic party to run for office, and a former Republican congressman who said the only people who would ever join Congress are “assholes.”

Former Republican congressman Steve LaTourette told reporter Mandvi that, “given the current climate in Congress, the only people who’d seriously want to run are assholes.”
