O/T All, caps on purpose.

PLEASE CONSIDER SAYING A PRAYER FOR OUR ASTRONAUTS UP IN SPACE. THERE ARE DIFFICULTIES WITH THE MISSION. SOME PREVIOUS MISSIONS RESULTED IN LOSS OF LIFE FOR ALL ON BOARD. AND TELL YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS TO SAY A PRAYER ALSO. I'M TOLD THEY ARE DUE TO COME HOME TOMORROW, TUESDAY.

I AM WORRIED & CONCERNED.

I WISH THEM GODSPEED.

I guess one of the underrated benefits of NOCdom is that you don't feel compelled to walk around town with a badge proclaiming you a target for the nuts du jour. Or at least you didn't used to. On the other hand, there are some ladies who are still impressed when they spot your lanyarded badge ever so casually layed out in suggestive submission on the bar of a Georgetown watering hole.

I come from the Old School, however. I would always stop just outside the door, wind the chain around the damn thing and put it safely in my pocket. Then I would consider that my reward for defending truth, justice and the American Way was to crawl into a car hot enough to fry an egg and fight my way home with a million other public "servants". And they ask me why I like Beirut better than Washington!

Now we have Joe Lieberman complaining on Fox News that Alitalia airline flies in and out of Damascus. YES, IT SURE DOES, JOE! The Syrians have Italian blood. The city of Aleppo has cuisine that rivals Italy's. From whom do you think the Syrians learned to cook?

And let's not forget the Alitalia pilot a few years back who flew his planeload of American Jews from Rome to Tel Aviv and said, "Welcome to Palestine" when they landed. You really got to LOVE that guy! By the way, he KEPT his job.

If your badge lanyard does not have a safety-release clasp on the back, then you've got a lot more to worry about than your seatbelt retractor. Ever visit the document shredder?

LOL, that always happens.... Maybe it's the universe's way of laughing at us.

OT, HURRAH, I can finally see both versions of the blog. I mean, there's only one version now! I used to see one version at work, which was in a time warp with the last post dated 8/14, and another version on my home computer. But now there's only one version. HURRAH for version mergers!
