Now For Some Fun

The news on all fronts is so grim and disgusting that I thought we needed a lift. So let me introduce you to a young old friend–Marsha Posner Williams. Marsha and her husband, Wayne, produced the first Rewards for Justice terrorism ads back in 1990–Are You the Next Hero–which featured Charlton Heston, Charles Bronson and Charlie Sheen. That’s where our friendship started.

Marsha has a couple of Emmys sitting on her mantle in Los Angeles for her stellar work as a producer of the Golden Girls. She got her start in Hollywood thanks to Danny Thomas and worked from the beginning on the path breaking show, SOAP.

I stumbled across this interview at tvseriesfinale.com

Here’s Part 2:

If you were ever a fan of SOAP you’ll love this.

Obama couldn’t find enough vets still living to make a good wallpaper backdrop for a press conference. Therefore, the recognition is no longer on his agenda.

At least ValJar scotched the idea just showing Obama in Hawaii on the front porch of his 7 million Oahu vacation abode making his gratuitous statements would not make a good substitute for the real wreckage at Pearl Harbor.

70% of California doctors are refusing to participate in Obamacare.

It’s called extortion. They will participate if/once they get enough money. Well, there goes Obama’s cost-neutral Obamacare projections.

He should have brought real doctors to the table instead of his stuffed union-doc penguins in lab coats he used for his Obamacare roll out wall-paper.

        • DianaLC

One on the Kelly File estimated the payment would be about $6.50 an hour.

    O/t. We all knew this.

Written by Dr. Michael A. Haberman, M.D.
This Israeli doctor says Obama has a mental disorder. Labels him a pathological narcissist and there is no greater insanity than electing one as President said Dr. Sam Vaknin who is an Israeli psychologist. Interesting view on our president.

Dr. Vaknin States, “I must confess I was impressed by Obama from the first time I saw him. At first I was excited to see a black candidate. He looked youthful, spoke well, appeared to be confident, a wholesome presidential package. I was put off soon, not just because of his shallowness but also because there was an air of haughtiness in his demeanor that was unsettling. His posture and his body language were louder than his empty words. Obama’s speeches are unlike any political speech we have heard in American history.

Never a politician in this land had such quasi “religious” impact on so many people. The fact that Obama is a total incognito with Zero accomplishment, makes this inexplicable infatuation alarming. Obama is not an ordinary man. He is not a genius. In fact he is quite ignorant on most important subjects.” Dr. Sam Vaknin, the author of the Malignant Self Love believes “Barack Obama appears to be a narcissist.” Vaknin is a world authority on narcissism He understands narcissism and describes the inner mind of a narcissist like no other person. When he talks about narcissism everyone listens. Vaknin says that Obama’s language, posture and demeanor, and the testimonies of his closest, dearest friends suggest that the man is either a narcissist or he may have narcissistic personality disorder (NPD).

Narcissists project a grandiose but false image of themselves. Jim Jones, the charismatic leader of People’s Temple, the man who led over 900 of his followers to cheerfully commit mass suicide and even murder their own children was also a narcissist. David Koresh, Charles Manson, Joseph Koni, Shoko Asahara, Stalin, Saddam, Mao, Kim Jong Ill and Adolph Hitler are a few examples of narcissists of our time. All these men had a tremendous influence over their fanciers. They created a personality cult around themselves and with their blazing speeches elevated their admirers, filled their hearts with enthusiasm and instilled in their minds a new zest for life. They gave them hope! They promised them the moon, but alas, invariably they brought them to their doom.

When you are a victim of a cult of personality, you don’t know it until it is too late. One determining factor in the development of NPD is childhood abuse “Obama’s early life was decidedly chaotic and replete with traumatic and mentally bruising dislocations, “says Vaknin. “Mixed-race marriages were even less common then. His parents went through a divorce when he was an infant two years old. Obama saw his father only once again, before he died in a car accident. Then his mother re-married and Obama had to relocate to Indonesia , a foreign land with a radically foreign culture, to be raised by a step-father. At the age of ten, he was whisked off to live with his maternal (white) grandparents. He saw his mother only intermittently in the following few years and then she vanished from his life in 1979. “She died of cancer in 1995.”

One must never underestimate the manipulative genius of pathological narcissists. They project such an imposing personality that it overwhelms those around them. Charmed by the charisma of the narcissist, people become like clay in his hands. They cheerfully do his bidding and delight to be at his service. The narcissist shapes the world around himself and reduces others in his own inverted image.
He creates a cult of personality. His admirers become his codependents.

Narcissists have no interest in things that do not help them to reach their personal objective. They are focused on one thing alone and that is power. All other issues are meaningless to them and they do not want to waste their precious time on trivialities. Anything that does not help them is beneath them and does not deserve their attention. If an issue raised in the Senate does not help Obama in one way or another, he has no interest in it. The “present” vote is a safe vote. No one can criticize him if things go wrong. Those issues are unworthy by their very nature because they are not about him.

Obama’s election as the first black president of the Harvard Law Review led to a contract and advance to write a book about race relations. The University of Chicago Law School provided him a lot longer than expected and at the end it evolved into, guess what? His own autobiography! Instead of writing a scholarly paper focusing on race relations, for which he had been paid, Obama could not resist writing about his most sublime self. He entitled the book Dreams from My Father.

Not surprisingly, Adolph Hitler also wrote his own autobiography when he was still a nobody. So did Stalin. For a narcissist no subject is as important as his own self. Why would he waste his precious time and genius writing about insignificant things when he can write about such an august being as himself? Narcissists are often callous and even ruthless. As the norm, they lack conscience. This is evident from Obama’s lack of interest in his own brother who lives on only one dollar per month. A man who lives in luxury, who takes a private jet to vacation in Hawaii, and who raised nearly half a billion dollars for his campaign (something unprecedented in history) has no interest in the plight of his own brother. Why? Because, his brother cannot be used for his ascent to power. A narcissist cares for no one but himself.

This election was like no other in the history of America. The issues were insignificant compared to what is at stake. What can be more dangerous than having a man bereft of conscience, a serial liar, and one who cannot distinguish his fantasies from reality as the leader of the free world? I hate to sound alarmist, but one is a fool if one is not alarmed. Many politicians are narcissists. They pose no threat to others. They are simply self-serving and selfish. Obama evidences symptoms of pathological narcissism, which is different from the run-of-the-mill narcissism of a Richard Nixon or a Bill Clinton for example. To him reality and fantasy are intertwined.

This is a mental health issue, not just a character flaw. Pathological narcissists are dangerous because they look normal and even intelligent. It is this disguise that makes them treacherous. Today the Democrats have placed all their hopes in Obama. But this man could put an end to their party. The great majority of blacks voted for Obama. Only a fool does not know that their support for him is racially driven. This is racism, pure and simple.
The downside of this is that if Obama turns out to be the disaster I predict, he will cause widespread resentment among the whites. The blacks are unlikely to give up their support of their man. Cultic mentality is pernicious and unrelenting. They will dig their heads deeper in the sand and blame Obama’s detractors of racism. This will cause a backlash among the whites.. The white supremacists will take advantage of the discontent and they will receive widespread support.

I predict that in less than four years, racial tensions will increase to levels never seen since the turbulent 1960′s. Obama will set the clock back decades. America is the bastion of freedom. The peace of the world depends on the strength of America, and its weakness translates into the triumph of terrorism and victory of rogue nations. It is no wonder that Ahmadinejad, Hugo Chavez, the Castrists, the Hezbollah, the Hamas, the lawyers of the Guantanamo terrorists, and virtually all sworn enemies of America are so thrilled by the prospect of their man in the White House. America is on the verge of destruction.

There is no insanity greater than electing a pathological narcissist as president .
    Michael A. Haberman, M.D.

    • DianaLC

I agree with most everything. However, I put much faith in the many, many, many well-educated and, if not well educated, well-brought up Blacks who are hardworking and logical in their thinking. I do not believe that the blacks will riot over a fall from grace of Obama. In fact, I am guessing that many know that this half-white man is not really one of them.

      • Deapster

Shall we remind ourselves of the all too recent pre-trial George Zimmerman lynching mobs? Yet, at least that verdict did not set off a huge firestorms like other outcomes did. http://www.newyorker.com/online/blogs/newsdesk/2013/07/george-zimmerman-verdict-riots-trayvon-martin-protests.html

Except these “knockouts” are troubling since they are black on white intentionally random violence.

One can only hope there are enough in the A-A community who have moved on to more mainstream lives who remember the A-A neighborhoods never recovered after they were burned down in rage a few decades ago.

        • DianaLC

Yet, I have watched numerous Blacks on television speaking out against these Knock-out Game attacks.
The story of the rise of Black Middle Class has not been given enough attention. All we see on television are the stories coming out of troubled area in large cities.

          • Deapster

Not only the rise of the black middle class, but the prominence of conservative black intellectuals. All of which show we have less of a racial problem, than a lack of shared values problem.

And thank you very much, but I have no interest sharing ghetto defeatist resentment, blame, drugs, violence, vandalism, blight and teen pregnancy values.

      • ME

Yep, I agree. President Obama belongs more to wealthy liberal white baby boomers then black folks. I don’t see black people “rioting” in support of him. He hasn’t ever really given them anything worth fighting for. You can’t really riot because you’re really happy about the huge rate of unemployment, the decline in incomes, the continued destruction of families, youth violence.

        • 0getfitnow1

If the rioting were to occur, it wouldn’t be in support of him, but he would be the excuse.

Logic and right thinking doesn’t enter into this.

As I mentioned before, some of these knockout games have been in the name of Trayvon.

          • S7teen70six

I suspect he will egg the riots on if not call for them directly. This narcissist seeks vengeance for being unable to become an elected dictator.

That was fun, Larry! There’s an old song, “Sure could use a little good news..” LOL, the problem is people say that, but it’s not what sells. We all want our daily dose of dirty laundry. I’d prefer mine to be limited to the realm of entertainment and fiction rather then national affairs and reality, but it is what it is. I loved Soap and the Golden Girls. Golden Girls is still on, but I haven’t seen Soap for a long time.

  • DianaLC

I liked Soap, but I always preferred Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman, which WAS a parody of a soap opera. It was produced by Norman Lear and starred Louise Lasser. It came on the scene before Soap, but it was aired during the day, as soap operas are. My older son was just a baby, and I was a full-time mom at the time, I couldn’t stand regular soap operas because their plot lines were so contrived but we were supposed to take them seriously. So I loved Mary Hartman with its sometimes totally bizarre plot lines. It was hilarious! I remember often sitting with my lunch in front of the t.v., my baby son beside me in his play pen, watching that show as a great break during the day.

Perhaps that is why people thought Soap was a soap opera parody, too.

The spin off of Mary Harman, Fernwood Tonight, starring Martin Mull was absolutely a riot. Fred Willard as Jerry Hubbard was so good, and Happy Kyne (I forget the actor’s name) was good too, especially since he was nasally challenged (due to his cocaine snorting ways).

Then sometime during those years, Dinah Shore’s daytime talk show was on during the day and gave me a break from cleaning, cooking, yard work, etc. It was during the time Dinah became the envy of all “older” women because she was at the time dating Burt Reynolds.
Those were really the good old days of television.

Those were the days of really, really funny television.

    • jbjd

I am not sure whether this line comes from Fernwood Tonight; I cannot recall the context. But every time I think of Martin Mull, this comes to mind:

“I’d rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy.”

      • DianaLC

I remember that line. LOL! am not sure where it comes from either, but I did love him in that series. And talk about show endings. How crazy was the ending of that show? They were going to be cancelled (it was a take off of the Johnny Carson style talk show) so they were having a telethon to try to raise money to keep it on the air. Nobody called in. I was laughing and crying at the same time. I actually met a guy really named Jerry Hubbard at the time. He got so much kidding. Fred Willard was great in that Ed McMahan sidekick spot. And Happy Kyne and his Mrth Makers. How funny.

Great career story. Start anywhere in a field you think you will enjoy and work your way up. Obviously a talented lady but even she had to start at the bottom.

Message to young people: just get in the front door. The rest is up to you. No one owes you a job; but a career is what you do after you get the job.

    • http://noquarterusa.net Larry Johnson

      Amen!

    • 0getfitnow1

Exactly! I believe sometime soon fast food workers are being encouraged to strike for increase in min. wage. I recall not long ago something like this was planned and it fizzled, but I read a short article about a man who supported the strike. He’d been in the same low paying job for over 20 years. Yet, during that time, digging deeper, he never took any training, offered by the company, to advance himself – stepping stone to being a manager or franchise owner one day.

      • KenoshaMarge

I was raised that you have to do something to getsomething.
Oh and FYI – some of those striking for higher wages have said that if they get more they will work fewer hours. WTF?

        http://i43.tinypic.com/2lk8ody.jpg

        • ME

I live in a depressed area, unemployment is around 16%. Some of the people working at McDonalds have advanced degrees. So minimum wage does not equal minimum skills, it can be a reflection of the economics in your area. The problem is, back when people were making 2 bucks an hour, gas only cost 49 cents. The more we raise the minimum, the worse off we all become because the cost of goods soars. You can pay me 30 bucks an hour, but if milk now cost 10 dollars, I’m not getting anywhere.

          • KenoshaMarge

Fast Food jobs were never meant to sustain a family. They were always supposed to be a “start”.

Those with advanced degrees that take these jobs that are so far beneath their education and talent will leave the minute something better comes along. As it should be.

McDonalds jobs should be a job stepping stone not a destination. And inflating the wages will only make more people stay right where they are – in a dead end job.

And as you say – it will only inflate prices and I suspect lead to fewer employees who will be expected to multi-task.

            • Deapster

Excellent, Marge. And my sentiments exactly.

We need low-skill jobs with high turnover so there can be entry jobs for a new workforce; not a life-time lock for only a few who never move and demand they get taken care of for life regardless of the nature of the business.

If this is what they wanted, they should have looked for a government job.

    • DianaLC

There is a slightly other side to the story of trying to get ahead.
When I worked as a documents editor, I got the job after a series of younger people were let go. The company kept advertising for a document editor. They got only young people who were good at computer software, formatting Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc. But they absolutely couldn’t correct the terrible sentence structures, spelling, and punctuation of the consultant’s documents.
They hired me when I decided I really needed a break from teenagers during the day since I had two often troublesome teenagers at home. The company finally put out an ad asking for someone who had the ability to correct writing. I was put through a series of tests, and they were excited to finally find someone who knew grammar.
I worked side by side with a young girls, who came over to the U.S. from Thailand with her parents. She was then working on her Masters in Mass Communication. She was an absolute whiz at software. She taught me that, and I taught her grammar. She was the brightest student I ever had, she never had to have something explained twice. We double-checked each document.
She gained skill, and I gained skills.
But at the time I was dating a man whose father founded a big company in the Denver area. He told me bluntly that I would never move up because I fit a skill set that the company needed badly and that they knew few other people could master.
But I realized that it didn’t matter to me. I loved my work there. I made enough money for my needs. I had never been a person who wanted to be rich.
So the other take away is to find what you do best and like to do best and get a job in that and quit worrying about the bling you can’t afford.
