Sorry for your loss. I don't know what I'd do if I lost Henry (but he's only a year and a half old)...he's such a sweetheart.

My eldest cat is 10. He's getting up there. I don't want to lose him, either. He's saved my life twice. He put us in debt last year to the tune of $3K becuase he was horribly sick...but he's better now. I just hope he's got at least 5 more years.

Sorry about your loss. Losing a pet is so hard, but all the joy and laughs they bring are well worth it. I have a Rottie/Chow/Lab mix; I prefer mutts, I guess. His name is Bhima, and he is the best dang 'ol muck pup anyone could ask for. He is an avid boater. He has three cats and three chickens and he guards them along with the rest of his property very well. He doesn't like squirrels, though. Squirrels aren't on the list. He's about ten years old now, and I'm hoping I can get a few more years with him. I avoid thinking about his age because I never want to spoil the present.

Thank you for sharing those two sites...

And to everyone else here, I am moved by your kindness and the stories of your pets/family. I told Larry after learning of his loss that I can appreciate it - we lost both of our greyhounds and our oldest cat all within one year. One greyhound was expected - he was a 90 lb 13 yr old dog who spent 5 years on the track before mandatory retirement. The girl was a surprise (brain cancer). We still miss those wonderful dogs (though they are more high maintenance than they are billed to be - just sayin'), and our old cat, who also died of cancer (we lost her brother several years ago to renal failure). Thank heavens we have our other 3 dogs, 2 cats, and 2 kittens, but we still miss the others...

Larry, Ceasar was lucky to have found you, and vice versa. What a gorgeous dog. What a gorgeous breed. I had to stop looking at the NoVa site before I ended up with one of the rescues...

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family...

I went to the store and got the kitten food. While there, I looked at the fat content of what I was feeding her and noticed that the fat content was very low. I found other soft cat food with much higher fat content. She now has the soft and the kitten food. I'll also try Stodgie's idea of baby food. She'll have quite the buffet!

Larry. You have my heartfelt smpathies. Losing a part of the pack is always tough, but especially a loyal, tried and true guardian of hearth and home.

As someone who has worked with rescue agencys for many years, I feel compelled to make a fervent prayer that the memory of Ceasar will lead your heart and pave a path to your home for a new pack member. There are so many truly awesome dogs and cats that are in desperate need of a home. And as this economy gets worse, they are becoming homeless at a ever increasing rate and are truly helpless victims. Please consider contacting a rotweiller rescue group in your area.

Larry, I am so sorry for your loss...had to put 5 dogs in 6 yrs to sleep...one being my late son's rottie Alexia..she was only 5 and cancer ate her up..never cried so hard... I worked in the Veterinary business for 6.5 yrs always was the hardest part of the job...but I always offered to go in with owners and hold their hand or hug them thru it, never failed I always cried right along with them..it seemed to help them, guess it was just an understanding between animal lovers.... you have to be one to understand the connection..My advise which I gave quite often is to get another one...it's the best medicine..here's how it works...the new baby does their little things and you will smile at first and go remember when Caesar did that it helps heal the heartache and in time it fades but the loss will always leave a void...Said to my vet one time as she was putting Nikita,( the first one ) to sleep...Why is it that all the bum reeming AH's get to live a long life and my boy has to leave me so early?? He had no answer for that, so I figured out that they are put on this earth for a short time but long enough to show us what unconditonal love is and if we never see it again at least it happened once in our life time............God speed.............
