I Love This Girl

If you haven’t seen this, must see.

I don’t blame young folks for buying into the Obama bullshit. But I do applaud the ones capable of objective thought.

    Math from Common Core:

    • DianaLC

I have mentioned this before. My younger son has dyscalculia. It’s not so much math that confuses him, but sequencing. This modern math with its terribly complicated number of steps to get to an answer makes it even harder to do math for him than the method we all followed. And actually, for something like this, he can now easily use a calculator.
But the real stupidity is that school systems all across the country now swear by this method, and we all know the result in terms of what our kids know.
In the largest school district in our state, where I last taught, there is a “back to basics” parent controlled elementary school and a middle school/high school as a “school of choice.” It has a very long wait list. I is always one of the highest scoring schools on the state NCLB test–especially in math and the only school that does not teach this modern method of math.
Save money, America. GET RID OF THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION.

      • Dave L.

        Amen !!

  • binky354

OT- From Facebook, the poster said this was from the Common Core Curriculum:

  • KenoshaMarge

OT and of importance to no one but myself – I HATE BASKETBALL!

I hate brackets and all the other bullshit associated with basketball.

I don’t hate the obsession with NCAA basketball quite as much as I hate the lack of obsession with decent grades and well-educated college grads OR the mindless obsession with a missing plane.

Once again Greta Van Susteren is obsessed with an issue, as she was with Casey Anthony. It is nearly all she talks about. And talks about and talks about. Et Tu FOX!

    • S7teen70six

It has been such a tragedy that Greta has jumped on the Malaysian bandwagon. Her show used to be something I looked forward to. Over the past few weeks I’ve found better things to do. Much better things.

    • DianaLC

I agree with you about basketball and about the news coverage over the Malaysian lost plane. Megan Kelly is as bad as Greta, and Hannity is to some extent. O’Reilly is a hypocrite about it by claiming to give only the facts, but then covering the rest of it by claiming he’s only showing how it is wrong to speculate.
I was a high school cheerleader, and the highlight of our senior year was winning the state baskeball championship in our division. The best thing about it was that all the boys on the team were my friends, since our class had only 63 students. None of them was a superstar. They just knew each other so well and played together so well. The teams we played in the state tournament all had at least one tall lanky superstar on the team on which the whole team relied. None of our boys got a basketball scholarship, though most went on to become highly educated successful people.
College and professional sports get way too much attention, and when I was still working, I really resented the time others spent on those stupid brackets rather than doing their work.

    • foxyladi14

      Amen!!!

    • binky354

I like watching the NCAA, but when my team gets beaten I probably won’t watch it too closely. Basketball is the only sport I like to watch.

Russia, and Putin and particular, has been receiving consistent criticism for the buildup of troops just outside Eastern Ukraine. But what has received little notice is the sequence of events that led to the buildup. Remember hearing about that hour long call between Obama and Putin? I highly doubt it. I wouldn’t trust any of the ‘reporting’ coming from BBC. These guys work hard at using the most sensational language they can muster, reality be damned. Other reporting says that approximately 2K of 18K Ukranian military stationed in Crimea have taken up Putin on his offer of safe transport for themselves and their families to the Ukranian border, while the remainder are requesting admission to the Russian military. There are plenty of Ukranians who have no use for this gang now controlling Kiev, but all you will hear from the BBC and their ilk is about the valiant struggle for ‘freedom and democracy’, as if all Ukranians think the Kiev gang represent freedom and democracy. Having said that, I do think it likely that ‘stagehands’ are working behind the scenes in this drama to to create a situation forcing Russia into other parts of Ukraine. Putin surely knows this also.

  • binky354

OT: My son’s friend, a Paraguayan election watcher, was killed Thursday, along with a journalist, his wife and two children and others in the hotel attack in Afghanistan. I was so tuned out of the news channels I hadn’t even heard of another Taliban attack. Sad. IMO, it was a big mistake to leave Afghanistan to go after Sadaam. I’m having my doubts about going into Afghanistan in the first place. These countries have been torn apart and left that way.

The National Democratic Institute decided on Friday morning to pull out staff members who were staying at the hotel after one of them, Luis María Duarte, a former Paraguayan diplomat, was killed. Mr. Duarte and the other staff members were in Afghanistan to observe next month’s presidential election, and the organization was reassessing its election monitoring activities.

This was my comment on the article that immediately got put into moderation: “”Symbolic” racism? WTF. The stats at the bottom of the article tell the truth – I am not one of those troglodyte white supremacists who think blacks are inherently inferior, but clearly there is a massive cultural problem with the inner city black communities that leads to violence…and that violence leads to the “stereotyping.” Deal with gang culture – and stop glorifying violent rap artists – and this “stereotype” will change as young black men spend more time in school and less time killing each other.”

I hope they post your comments on that article. They’re good and insightful. One especially hateful comment by someone calling himself a Tea Party Patriot (clearly a troll) should have been moderated and removed, but was published.

  • beyond partisan

I’m surprised at some of the petty and short-sighted comments here. I don’t know if some of you remember how hard it was to leave the Democratic Party and go against friends and family to speak out against Obama in 2008. I do. It was extremely difficult – not just from the social level of people disowning me in anger but on a personal level as I had to go through a complete identity crisis. I turned away from being lifelong liberal to reading conservative websites regularly (I consider myself a libertarian).

For years I have tried to explain all of Obama’s hypocrisy to my remaining liberal friends and they are supposedly smarter and definitely older than she and they still refused to see. (I’m talking scientists, PhDs, high school valedictorians).

So those of you who are calling her an “attention whore” – do you even realize how much hate she’s just set herself up with by doing this? She’s stepped off the Obama reservation – she’s now going to get called a traitor and worse.

    • KlugerRD

I recall the days after Obama got elected and spoke to friends who voted for him – some were from GOP. I asked them how they felt coming out of the voting booth. Based on the reactions I received it could be condensed to their vote was for a fairy tale final chapter of the civil rights movement. Nothing more than that. The problem with fairy tales is they are just that.

No one who voted for him paid any attention to who he was or was not. It was the idea they liked.

No one paid any attention to the fact that he was grossly inexperienced, especially in managing anything.

No with Obamacare I now know 3 Obama Democrats who have been screwed royally and will not vote for a Dem at least in the next election.

What you have on your side are numbers and after the next election, many more numbers.

      • 0getfitnow1

I also remember the grief Rush Limbaugh got for saying, shortly after the swearing in — “I hope he fails.”

I wonder how many can truthfully say they are happy with this “transformation.”

    • binky354

You made some good points here; you reminded me of friends lost, some forever.

    • S7teen70six

It was not difficult for me to leave the Democrat party. It left me. I had no other choice. And yes, it changed some relationships and caused some hardships. But I wouldn’t trade a moment of what I had to go through for any alternative reality. The experience woke me up and for that I am thankful.

I didn’t wait until 2008 to speak out against tell the truth about Obama. And I have never considered the consequences of telling that truth.

    • DianaLC

Absolutely correct! The rift between friends and family has been hard these last few years. The respect I had for some friends and family has been cracked. I do my best to see the ways in which I can still respect people who have made fun of me, called me silly or dumb, etc., but it is very hard.

“it’s not really the President’s fault—it’s the institution of government that kills them…”

Please listen to the last part.I showed this to my 20-somethings at work–you know, not the middle class or upper middle class cuties who have the time to make a slick video, the ones who look like they are really suffering and who are being laid off and cut to part time every day of the week. The uncertainty at my work is so bad you can cut the stress levels with a knife.

They laughed that some hot chick with her valley girl accent is self-promoting and then at the end sounds like an anarchist or leftist libertarian. They readily admit they were excited to vote for something different in 2008, like a high, some of them say, that they were stupid and now are screwed. But this kind of nonsense and theater does not reflect at any level the real pain they are in–I see them depressed, drinking alot, overeating(yeah could we please have a size 14 woman who has a degree in phsyics working at a $14.00 an hour job??)and shell shocked at what is going on.

This woman in the video is the worse kind of recovering Obama supporter. She’s a phony probably working for Rand Paul or she’ll land a job at Fox. When I see a mess of 20-somethings on a video really sitting in it and feeling suicidal over what they have done to this country by voting that loser in then I’ll watch.

    • DianaLC

I agree, but I had to learn as a teacher that it’s not right to blame people for their birth parents. The hippie movement was fuelled by rich trust funders who didn’t trust their rich parents. I was working 20 to 25 hours a week to get through college while they were having protest “parties.”
Everyone has a unique path. The message is still good, and what is wrong with Rand Paul? (at least at this point)

      • cathnealon

Hey–you made my point about the hippies and their trust fund parents. This woman is exactly what you are talking about–and not even as convincing as the Bill Ayers type. She would vote for Obama for a third term in a heartbeat–at the end she said she doesn’t “blame him”–ha! I wouldn’t be surprised if OFA isn’t behind this..

Here’s a 2010 article from David Horowitz’s newsrealblog. I have not looked at Dr Rand and his Dad the same way since.

        http://www.frontpagemag.com/2010/lisa-graas/rand-paul-tea-party-candidate-or-leftist-machine-darling/

        • beyond partisan

That article is a poorly written piece of pro-NeoCon crapola that has no actual SUBSTANCE about Rand Paul himself but cherry picks some leftists pushing him as reason to dislike him. Guilt by association. So WHAT if some people on the left want him to stir up crap in the Republican Party? Frankly, if all my options are to vote Republican are the Mitch McConnells and John Boehners of the world, then I’ll be happy to see the Republican Party die a slow, painful death.

        • DianaLC

The article is interesting, and I do understand the fear conservatives have for the Paul family. It’s much like the ‘fun” O’Reilly pokes at Stossel, however.
The analogy between the differences of Lincoln and Davis is just that, an analogy. In logic, we’re taught that eventually all analogies break down.
Those who like Levine’s idea of pushing again for more states rights doesn’t not mean to me that we would then turn against the 14th Amendment at this stage in our history.
The anti-war movement is not one I fear that much. We were isolationist right before we entered into WWII. Hitler did his best to keep us that way. It was Hirohito mistaking something that Hitler said to him that caused Pearl Harbor. Americans will become angry and will fight when necessary and will even fight for the downtrodden when the situation is egregious. But except for keeping a good sound defensive posture for our military, I disliked absolutely the neo con intervention in not our business philosophy.
I am still wavering between the conservatism of Cruz, and Lee, simply because of the backgrounds of those two. But I do also realize that we need the young people in large numbers to give clear message to the Dems and to the old farts of both parties who have become so ensconced in the DC mindset.
There is much about libertarianism that I find appealing, as long as it doesn’t lead to the real libertine ideas of the hippie movement.

    • wyntre

My point exactly. She turned me off from the beginning but I was ready to give her the benefit of the doubt until she revealed her true convictions at the end of the clip.

      Just another attention-whore, IMHO.

    • beyond partisan

What does being a size 14 have to do with anything? I’m a tall woman with wide natural hips (42″ and not because of fat but because of bone structure). I’m not fat by any stretch but depending on the brand I might buy a size 14.

      • binky354

I wish I could get into a 14! Lucky you.

      • DianaLC

At my age, I am no longer what I used to be. When I was fifty, however, I still got sarcastic comments from from old high school classmates about how I hadn’t changed. Because I looked young still, was five foot two and 112 pounds, they assumed I could not have matured at all, even though I had been the class valedictorian.
Don’t underestimate the power of jealousy and spite that can be directed at someone who appears petite and slim.

    • beyond partisan

As for this: “She’s a phony probably working for Rand Paul or she’ll land a job at Fox.” I can’t even begin to clear up all the misconceptions and contradictions in this one line. First of all, what is your beef with Rand Paul? Second, Rand Paul is a more libertarian Republican and this young woman is clearly not a NeoCon, so she’ll never land a job at Fox unless Fox changes dramatically from its war hawking.

  • wyntre

I don’t find her cute, adorable, brave or any combination of the three. Maybe you didn’t listen all the way to the end where she says all politics is the same, it’s not entirely the POS’s fault and she just want peace, love and happiness.

Just another attention babe seeking her 15 minutes.

    • DianaLC

This young woman is growing up in a far different time from the time when I was her age. We didn’t have the technology to put something like this video together. And, we certainly wouldn’t have been encouraged to spread our image across the world like that. It was a more modest age.
But when I was her age, I was very “into” politics. And of course I was a Democrat. And who doesn’t want “peace, love, and happiness.”
As far as her 15 minutes, I say she should have it, as I wish the PUMAs had been allowed to really have it after the primary that put that idiot into office. No one listened and no one noticed.
I also dislike politics. What I want are citizen politicians, people who truly take a political office in order to serve because they have an idea about how to make something work and because they really understand and believe in the ideals of the Founders who crafted the Constitution
It the political class, the ones who get there and stay and stay and stay and play games with our tax money that we have far too many of. It’s clear that Obama figured that out, that it was a way to make a fortune without doing anything but getting elected.
There is the irony–that he was touted by so many for his “brilliant” campaign. No one paid any attention to his track record and noticed he had no track record of accomplishment.
Trying to find a politician now who is in it to serve rather than to win is very hard..

      • wyntre

Maybe I’m overly cynical but I am in a lousy mood and not ready to forgive idiots like this who helped get this country into the position we’re in today.

I understand completely. I watched the video and left the site to think about it. As a teacher, I often had to remind myself of myself as a younger me so that I wasn’t overly critical of my students’ idiocy at times.
She just came to her disillusionment later than we PUMAs did. But we were older and had more time to investigate and had more experience to give us understanding.
I think this is a clear sign that the libertarian/conservative movement is the way to follow at this point.

I can relate to your cynicism. I also find it hard to forgive the obots who knew nothing and chose cool and color above all else.
I can understand if they could not, would not vote for or support John McCain in 2008. Without Sarah Palin I could have only voted for him as a vote against Obama.
That is the extent of my understanding. If they voted for the big zero over a competent, decent man like Mitt Romney in 2012 then forgiveness is not really deserved.

Your comment really sums up my feelings about both the 2008 and 2012 general elections, and about Mitt Romney. True, at first, I supported Buddy Roemer in 2012; but he shares some of those same qualities you cite: he is a “competent” “decent” man. I so wish we would ‘hire’ a competent executive as our Chief Executive. And if s/he’s also decent, well, as Shakespeare said, “‘Tis a consummation devoutly to be wished.”

I just sent this video to a friend of mine who sees and talks with lots of policemen, firemen, every day folks and the ceo of a major company here in Connecticut. We are all of like mind as regards politics.
I feel as though I’ve done something good today in sending this to her because I know she get it out there in ways I cannot.
Thanks Larry. I fully expect this to go viral, as it should.
And thanks to that young lady for seeing and speaking the truth.

I sent it to my brother who is older than I and who voted for Obama because the young people thought he was so cool. I asked him if he was going to change his mind now that some young people think he’s a jerk.

I am overwhelmed with joy that there really are some wonderful young people out there capable of thinking for themselves and see through the bullshit. Brava young lady – brava!

    That about sums it up.
My guess is there are millions just like her.

I hope you are right because that gives me hope for the future. I won’t be around to see it but I sure want it to offer my granddaughters the same chances that I had. If they can take their cell phones out of their ears long enough.
