Cliven Bundy, Terrorist? Harry Reid, Fucking Moron!

If there was ever any doubt that Senator Harry Reid is a dangerous, twisted person, he removed any doubt with this bit of demagoguery:

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) intensified his criticism of armed militia members supporting rancher Cliven Bundy, calling them “domestic terrorists.”

“They’re nothing more than domestic terrorists,” Reid said Thursday at an event hosted by the Las Vegas Review-Journal, according to the newspaper. “I repeat: what happened there was domestic terrorism.”

Reid specifically criticized Bundy supporters for bringing guns and their children to the ranch to defend him against the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). BLM officials and contractors started rounding up Bundy’s cattle last week because of his refusal to pay $1 million in grazing fees, but they backed down Saturday due to safety concerns.

This is an affront to every American. Reid has spent too much time in Washington and needs to go back to Nevada.

I am not enjoying the irony of our media and pundits decrying Russia for its abuse of human rights and spying on its citizens while blithely ignoring those same occurrences in the United States. The assault on the Bundy family is but the tip of the iceberg. Obama and his thugs also are going after reporters who dare report actual news that challenges the lies of Obama and team. Obama chooses wily nily to enforce laws he likes and ignores ones he doesn’t.

Let’s face it–Obama is what Putin would be like if Putin were incompetent and lacking in testosterone.

Your thoughts?

  • Haker53

Put Harry Reid in the next cell. Either for his ethical transgressions or just because he is a moron and is not qualified to lead.

    • djred678

And then put Cliven Bundy in the same cell with a Black guy and let Cliven explain his views how Blacks lived a better life on plantations.

  • BannedAgain18

Cliven Bundy may not be a terrorist, but he is a freeloader. However, bringing guns to threaten our public servants is an act of domestic terrorism. By the way the Bureau of Land Management has been on the Bundy case well before Obama was President. The Feds have been in the courts with Bundy for more than 20 years. I thought all you conservatives were for enforcing the laws. Bundy lost in the courts under Republican Administrations, so now he threatens our public servants with guns. Throw the clown, his family and the loonie militias and Tea Partiers he attracts in jail.

    • beyond partisan

Wait…all the millions of people engaged in welfare and social security fraud…and yet, they aren’t “freeloaders” to the Democrats…but a guy whose family has been grazing cattle on these lands for over 100 years is a “freeloader”? Be consistent, dude. Do you honestly think Americans should have to pay just to use *public* land that everyone owns? Or just Americans that *you* personally don’t like? And are you one of those selfish progressives that somehow thinks that you have more say about what happens on public lands than the rest of us?

    • chrissy

How about those illegals who cross BLM land and become freeloaders? How about those cartels who cross BLM and become your neighbors? How about Reid having no problem with federal lawbreakers crossing our southern border?
Only Reid could pick and chose his domestic terrorists while avoiding his reflection in the mirror.

Harry Reid is the epitome of all that is wrong in politics in this country. Ditto Nancy Pelosi. No attempt to govern, no attempt to lead, just an endless stream of smears and name-calling from a pair demented septuagenarian adolescents. They spew lies like a sewer spews liquid shit. No proof, no facts, just lies, distortions and hyperbole.

They offer proof, if nothing else, that for some growing older doesn’t mean growing wiser. Two truly despicible human beings.

Granted there are many despicible elected Republicans too, but not in “leadership” positions. I don’t like Mitch McDonnell but he does not do the name calling like Reid. Boehner is apt to cry if Ninny Nancy treats him too harsh.

Obama attends what appears to be a non-diverse, non-inclusive Baptist Church for Easter services. Lo, the good word of the day from their website follows:

Selective enforcement of our laws for political gain or punishment is one of the most corrosive attacks on our fragile system of governance.

Both parties do this; but we must always guard against wherever it occurs. Because next time it can be our turn to be on the wrong end of someone else’s selective political agenda.

Equal Justice Under the Law is inviolable if we are to survive as a nation. Sort out the Bundy case against this standard.

    • BannedAgain18

Bundy has been in the courts fighting the BLM for more than 20 years under both Republican and Democratic Administration. I hardly think it is political. If anything it is Bundy who is making it political. This moron just wants to freeload of the backs of taxpayers and not pay for what he uses.

    U.S. Code — 43 U.S.C. Section 1733, Subsection C

“When the Secretary determines that assistance is necessary in enforcing Federal laws and regulations relating to the public lands or their resources he shall offer a contract to appropriate local officials having law enforcement authority within their respective jurisdictions with the view of achieving maximum feasible reliance upon local law enforcement officials in enforcing such laws and regulations.”

BLM, as far as I know ignored local law enforcement.

    • Deapster

Hasn’t the US Code gotten rid of gender specific language yet? Obama must really hate women.

    • PoliticalWaif

I posted the link to the FLPMA law below. What is ignored is Sec. 303(c)2 which states the federal authority includes bringing in federal enforcers for the court ordered cattle remover.

What appease to be the case is that Sec. 303(c)1 says the feds “shall offer a contract” for the enforcement to the local authorities. However local authorities are not required to accept that contract. It seems like the Clark County Sheriffs have really wanted to steer clear (pun intended) of this.

So, via federal law, and also granted in the court order, the feds may pull in federal enforcers.

There might be a case if the feds did not offer a contract to the sheriffs, but the way the July 9th, 2013 court order reads, it suggests that the local authorities requested the renewal of the old 1998 court order. The interaction between the feds request and local agencies is one that should be explored tho. Thus far, the sheriffs do not indicate the feds have bypassed them in offering such a contract.

    • HELENK2
    • jbjd

…and how does Reid know Bundy owes taxes, anyway? According to the court cases, the issue is grazing fees.

      • S7teen70six

      • Justine00

IRS in control of confidential medical records?
        .

        • jbjd

Reid is not authorized, by law, to see an individual’s IRS records. The IRS is prohibited from sharing these records. If only more voters understood the integral role that a robust separation of powers was envisioned by the Drafters to play in our Constitutional Republic…

    • PoliticalWaif

Taxes owned and the cattle round up are two different issues. The BLM enforcers were not there to collect outstanding grazing rights, but to enforce an original 1998 court order for removal of the Bundy cattle, and renewed again in 2012/13.

The BLM is allowed to enforce the court order via the FLPMA of 1976, Sec 303(c)1& 2. Under (c)1, they offer the local enforcement agencies the contract for the enforcement, but locals are under no obligation to oblige. Under (c)2, the BLM may have federal enforcers come in instead.

The BLM can also opt to go thru the US Treasury and file a lien against the Bundy 160 melon ranch (he doesn’t run his cattle on his own land… only public lands). In which case, after time, they can seize his melon ranch for non payment.

Bundy refused to renew his grazing rights annually since 1993, after decades of paying them, as a matter of civil disobedience. He was always allowed to graze, but not necessarily the amount of head he wanted to. Civil disobedience is as American as apple pie, but it doesn’t come without repercussions. And in this case, Bundy has lost his lawsuits over the years, including in the 9th Circuit. There are no attorneys coming forward to represent him since most know he doesn’t have a legal leg on which to stand.

While I think there is plenty of bad behavior on both sides of the Bundy issue – most especially motor mouth Harry Reid – the simple fact is that if Bundy wants to run a side business of cattle using public lands, he needs to pay grazing rights like every other rancher who uses any public land acreage for their cattle business. Many ranches have sufficient acreage for their cattle, and keep them confined to their private land only. In Bundy’s case, his 160 Virgin River front acreage, and 11 registered water rights, is not for cattle, but his melon business. His cattle ranching exists solely on public land.

While emotions tend to run high in what they see as a government agency run amok, fact is there has been no rush to enforce decades old court orders or to attach his property until now. I can’t get behind Harry Reid, but I can’t get behind Bundy either.

If a time comes when Al Sharpton has a court order to evict any seized property, the feds can indeed come, armed, to enforce that eviction. To my knowledge, there is no court order. Might be a judgement/lien, which will prohibit clean title of sales of any real estate involved tho.

Thank you so much. This article contains images of the relevant court documents, as well as a concise history of the present dispute. I wish the BLM would print flyers with this information to distribute to the main characters in this drama. Right or wrong; two armed camps facing off is a disaster waiting to happen.

            • PoliticalWaif

You’re very welcome. And yes, the Breitbart duo did a very good job in a relatively neutral presentation of facts. I’m with you in alarm as to how emotional heads can cause this to be an unneeded escalation.

Oddly enough, the link Helenk2 below provides goes right back to this same Breitbart article.

Where the Western Journalism article gets it wrong is that they are unaware that the 160 acres that Bundy owns is a dedicated melon ranch with a “scenic river” running thru it’s backyard, and that the Bundy’s have 11 registered water rights…. presumably used for their farming/irrigation.

State and County governments have fabulous GIS tools these days. You can locate the Bundy property, and see the overlays on the Clark County GIS maps via the Clark County tax assessor’s office. You can also go to the Nevada State Water Resource agency and search water rights, and see all the water rights that the Bundy’s hold. Cattle ranching aside, their water rights and melon farm business is a valuable asset in a desert state. And this is not being touched by the feds.

When you look at historic Google Earth photos of the Bundy ranch back thru time, you’ll see they irrigate their 160 acres, and they remain green thru the summer months. If they had cattle on that acreage… especially the
size herd that Bundy has… that greenery wouldn’t last a month.

But then, there are many articles, plus business profiles that note the Bundys primary business on their private land is their 19th century organic melon farm. The cattle is run on public lands only.

This means his primary farm stays in operation, untouched, and his sideline cattle business, dependent upon use of public lands, must downsize via federal regulations. One can argue whether the federal regs are justified, as we all do. But it has nothing to do with cattle removal for non payment of grazing fees.

The sad thing to consider is Bundy, risking his century old melon business for this, if the BLM decides to turn over non payment to the Treasury, and the IRS decides to attach liens on his melon farm asset. Risky roll of the dice to play because of a smaller herd size, IMHO.

I never read anything sourced to Joseph’s Farah, including both his Western Center of Journalism and World Net Daily.

                • PoliticalWaif

I’m with you canning Farah etal, along with Alex Jones InfoWars/BeforeItsNews BS too. Still laughing at the BINs link saying Bundy was supposed to be developed for a freeway loop extension. Problem being they apparently don’t know where the Bundy melon ranch is. The map they provide doesn’t even show the Bundy 160 acres, which is about 1.5 miles SW down New Gold Butte Rd from where SR 170 bends east towards Riverside and Mesquite. And that Gold Butte/SR 170 intersection is about 3 miles south of where SR 170 loops to the south off I-15. i.e., Bundy land no where near being involved for Interstate, or State Road, development.

    • KenoshaMarge

Bundy doesn’t owe taxes, he owes “grazing fees”. Whether that is under the gentle touch of the IRS I do not know.
As for Sharpton? He’s Obama’s pal thus he doesn’t have to obey the law.
As Ted Cruz said: we’re still a Nation of Laws, we just have to wait until Obama tells us what they are on any given day.

      • binky354

I’ll bet all the cattle killed by BLM cleared up the grazing fee debt. Books balanced.

        • Justine00

People should be able to decide how to pay their debts — if deemed legitimate in court. (And which debt to pay first. Debt-holders can’t just take.)
          .

        • KenoshaMarge

I don’t know how many cows the BLM killed, nor do the Bundy Family at this point since BLM buried the evidence. What makes their “crime” worse is that they killed breeding stock.

For all those who think “meat” arrives magically on their plate the cattle need to be bred and have calves to perpetuate a herd. The BLM killed female breeders and thus all the calves those cows would have had in the future are lost too.

Showing what the BLM did is good politics in the west where it is better understood than in some newsroom in NYC.

“Obama and his thugs also are going after reporters who dare report actual news that challenges the lies of Obama and team.”

The only reason thugs like Reid and Obama succeed in their lying and demagoguing is the news media. THIS is the problem.

When the fourth estate is as corrupt as the people they are supposed to be reporting on and exposing then it is a crisis of our democracy.

Almost ALL of the reporters of ALL of the news broadcast networks and newspapers have been complicit in protecting the lies of Democrats for years and especially since Obama became President.

Rare reporters like Jonathon Karl, Sharyl Akkinson, Jake Tapper are quickly marginalized by the WH and the DNC which is then aped by their news media cabal.

Because of the dominance of liberal network and local news media average people are indoctrinated into a distorted reality . . and it is getting worse.

Republicans should copy what Newt did in the last election and call out these news media toads and especially compromise Media Matters on every issue.

Harry Reid is a Domestic Derrierist. The federal government shows up with dogs and guns drawn at this guy’s ranch because apparently this guy Bundy has been threatening a desert tortoise. And well, we can’t have people scaring turtles. Cause them to withdraw into a shell. Scar them for life. So they take away Bundy’s cattle at gunpoint. Knock his sister, Margaret Houston, to the ground in front of everyone. Then tell those that object that if they would like to express their constitutional rights they can do so in a federally provided area roped off down the way. Surrounded by guns. Of course.

I may not fully agree with Clive Bundy, or Al Bundy for that matter, but I will agree with him that a federal government that abuses its defined responsibilities of power is a threat not only to the citizenry that oppose it, but to very heart of the republic.

  • KenoshaMarge

Victor Davis Hanson had a good, IMO, article on Cliven Bundy. I thought the best paragraph in the long piece was this:

So we are not threatened by the likes of Cliven Bundy. Instead, the scary lawlessness extends to the bureaucracy itself, given that under Obama the government is becoming tainted and an ideological tool of social transformation. After just six years, we shrug that, of course, the IRS is biased. The Justice Department is politicized; ask Dinesh D’Souza or the AP reporters. No need to mention the NSA. The EPA makes laws up as ideologically required. No one believes the State Department that in the weeks before the election a video-caused “riot” led to expert jihadists zeroing in with their GPS-guided mortars on a CIA annex in Benghazi. And so on.
