Cliven Bundy Joins Reid as Fucking Moron–UPDATE

While I initially thought Cliven Bundy deserved sympathy in his battle with the Federal Government, especially after being labeled a “terrorist” by that idiot, Senator Harry “The Thief” Reid, he has squandered the sympathy vote. Harry Reid had no basis for calling him a “terrorist,” but this bonehead, with his stupid comments, has given Reid the highroad to label Bundy as an extremist and racist.

Picking cotton?

Bundy and his family are now pariahs. Deservedly so. There is no room to tolerate such intolerance and ignorance. Bundy should keep his mouth shut and worry about his cattle business. What could have become a major headache for Obama and the Dems is now a toxic mess for Republicans.

UPDATE

Some of you, who apparently do not understand English, insist that Bundy was just misunderstood or a victim of selective editing. Horseshit. Here’s the full piece. You decide for yourself:

This ignorant clown did say what he said about blacks today being better off as slaves. They’d be much happier if they had learned how to “pick cotton.” I fully understand and support the idea of limiting and restricting the power of the Federal Government. But a dumbass rancher like this certainly does not help make the case.

His comments, especially about slavery, are flat out wrong. Not supported by any historical fact. This is why some on the right have no credibility. They defend stupidity like this, just as Democrats defend the stupidity of Obama and Reid. I despise anyone who embraces stupidity.

Walter Williams, Thomas Sowell, E. W. Jackson, Jason Riley….none of these people are stupid. They are in fact quite literate, and Williams is a highly respected Historian, as is Sowell. So I wonder if you can distinguish ANY difference between what they say and what Cliven Bundy said; other than the fact that they are black and Bundy is white. So, here is what is TRULY STUPID: People who don’t have a clue, ranting about other people’s ” stupidity.”

    http://townhall.com/columnists/walterewilliams/2013/07/31/black-selfsabotage-n1651550

In his 2008 book Let Them In, The Wall Street Journal editorial board member Jason Riley argued that the Great Society programs of the 1960s were ultimately worse for black families than slavery, writing “The black family survived slavery, Reconstruction, and Jim Crow, but the well-intentioned Great Society sounded its death knell.”

George Mason University’s Walter Williams stated that because more black children live in single-mother families now, welfare “destroy[ed] the black family” more than slavery:

During Reconstruction and up until the 1940s, 75% to 85% of black children lived in two-parent families. Today, more than 70% of black children are born to single women. “The welfare state has done to black Americans what slavery couldn’t do, what Jim Crow couldn’t do, what the harshest racism couldn’t do,” Mr. Williams says. “And that is to destroy the black family.’

a lot still squirming on NQ to justify Bundy’s remarks… hilarious. here is some of what we got so far:

    1) he never made the remarks.

    2) the remarks were taken out of context.

    3) they were not racist remarks. “He said nothing racist.”

    4) Harry Reid is evil.

    5) It was just a “frank conversation”.

    6) Bundy hired a black person.

    7) A black person says the comments are not racist.

    8) Benghazi.

    9) Biden said something.

    10) What he said was accurate about black “culture”.

    11) It is about “race-baiters”.

    12) “Bundy needs to get himself a PR manager. ”

hahaha! I particularly like the last one.

    Does context matter?

FYI the second video posted does not provide the full context.

In that regard, read the following post by Renee Nal who writes for Liberty Unyielding

The New York Times Turns Tabloid And How Context Matters
    http://libertyunyielding.com/2014/04/26/the-new-york-times-turns-tabloid-and-how-context-matters/

Bundy asks for forgiveness, refocuses on land rights
    http://www.fox5vegas.com/story/25344652/bundy-asks-for-forgiveness-refocuses-on-land-rights

A bit of context. On Thursday afternoon, the Las Vegas Review Journal posted the following article:

Black congressional candidate talks with Bundy about racial remarks
    http://www.reviewjournal.com/news/bundy-blm/black-congressional-candidate-talks-bundy-about-racial-remarks

The black congressional candidate is Niger Innis.

Then on Friday afternoon, Newsmax posted the following:

Niger Innis: Cliven Bundy ‘Clumsily’ Stated an Important Point
    http://www.newsmax.com/us/cliven-bundy-niger-innis-racism/2014/04/25/id/567836/

According to that report, Niger Innis (who has met with Cliven Bundy in the past), had an hour long telephone conversation with Cliven Bundy about the offense he caused in using the slavery analogy the way that he did. According to Niger Innis, Mr Bundy realized that he was wrong to use that analogy in the manner that he did and apologized.

Also, here is a video of part of the press conference he had on Thursday after his discussion with Niger Innis:

Cliven Bundy repeats racist comments in press conference

    Note the headline.

In response to this press conference, FWIIW and YMMV:

Then on Friday afternoon, as I wrote above, Bundy held another press conference and apologized:

Bundy asks for forgiveness, refocuses on land rights
    http://www.fox5vegas.com/story/25344652/bundy-asks-for-forgiveness-refocuses-on-land-rights

FWIIW and YMMV, Derrick Grayson who is an African-American running for the U.S. Senate in Georgia posted the following on Friday:

    Cliven Bundy, The Racist
    http://youtu.be/7cd3TG9uoMg

Now, let’s go back in time a bit. On January 22, 2011 the Wall Street Journal posted the following interview with Walter E. Williams, Phd.

    The State Against Blacks
‘The welfare state has done to black Americans what slavery couldn’t do. . . . And that is to destroy the black family.’
    http://online.wsj.com/news/articles/SB10001424052748704881304576094221050061598

    The article reads in part:

“We lived in the Richard Allen housing projects” in Philadelphia, says Mr. Williams. “My father deserted us when I was three and my sister was two. But we were the only kids who didn’t have a mother and father in the house. These were poor black people and a few whites living in a housing project, and it was unusual not to have a mother and father in the house. Today, in the same projects, it would be rare to have a mother and father in the house.”

Even in the antebellum era, when slaves often weren’t permitted to wed, most black children lived with a biological mother and father. “And that is to destroy the black family.”

    Questions:

    1. Was Cliven Bundy trying to make the same point, but did it in such a clumsy fashion, that he came across as racist?

    2. Do we now live in a world where a white American can’t say what a black American says without being accused of being racist?

    3. Why are some black American conservatives coming out in support of Bundy, or trying to help him understand that the way he said what he wanted to say was wrong, but white American conservatives and libertarians like Glen Beck are saying yup, Bundy is a racist and then figuratively running for the hills?

In that regard, referencing again the article by Renee Nal posted above, after pointing out the obvious lack of context in the NYT piece, she goes on to write:

“The witch hunt was on for Cliven Bundy the moment he dared to challenge the federal government. Cliven Bundy may not be the most politically correct individual, but he certainly can not be called a racist based on the “gotcha” quote so excitedly and irresponsibly reported by Adam Nagourney.

    Yet, as J.E. Dyer observed,

“After the selectively edited comments of Cliven Bundy
were presented to the world yesterday, by our biased and frequently
discredited mainstream media…high-profile conservative pundits and politicians suffered a complete loss of intellectual function.”

Dyer makes the point that the mainstream media has already
vastly discredited itself. Yet, instead of some of the strongest voices
for freedom jumping at the chance to call for context and focus on the very real issue of government overreach, they sickeningly joined the witch hunt.

    Dyer continued,

“It was as if a bell rang, and they all went limp and inert, incapable of giving more than a single, conditioned response.”

People can read the rest of J.E. Dyer’s article here:

Bundy crisis I: Conservatives throw the republic under the bus
    http://libertyunyielding.com/2014/04/25/bundy-crisis-conservatives-throw-republic-bus/

The blurb on J.E. Dyer reads:

J.E. Dyer is a retired Naval Intelligence officer who
lives in Southern California, blogging as The Optimistic Conservative
for domestic tranquility and world peace. Her articles have appeared at
Hot Air, Commentary’s Contentions, Patheos, The Daily Caller, The
Jewish Press, and The Weekly Standard.

The Wikkipedia description of Niger Innis reads:

“Niger R. Innis is an American activist and politician. He is the National Spokesperson for the Congress of Racial Equality, MSNBC commentator, and political consultant. He was born in Harlem, New York, and currently lives in North Las Vegas, Nevada.”

    Totally OT….

For anyone that has ever wondered why Putin is willing to put up a fight, if need be, to stop the EU/NATO expansion into Ukraine? You see folks, this “spontaneous uprising” had been planned for nearly a year, if not longer. The uprising was as spontaneous as the “protest” in Benghazi.

Carl Gershman, a leading neocon and longtime president of the U.S.-funded National Endowment for Democracy, took to the op-ed page of the neocon-flagship Washington Post to urge the U.S. government to push European “free trade” agreements on Ukraine and other former Soviet states and thus counter Moscow’s efforts to maintain close relations with those countries.

The ultimate goal, according to Gershman, was isolating and possibly toppling Putin in Russia with Ukraine the key piece on this global chessboard. “Ukraine is the biggest prize,” Gershman wrote. “Russians, too, face a choice, and Putin may find himself on the losing end not just in the near abroad but within Russia itself.”

In furtherance of these goals, NED funded a staggering 65 projects in Ukraine, training activists, financing “journalists” and organizing business groups, according to NED’s annual report.

    Subject: BLM and Bundy Ranch

Is Congressman Chaffetz concerned about federal overreach at Bundy
Ranch? My father grew up as a rancher on the Utah/Arizona border and my cousin,
who grew up in Kanab, just posted some of his personal research regarding the
Bundy story. I respectfully request that Congressman Chaffetz look in to it and
see if indeed Senator Reid’s financial interests are at play

I don’t usually like to use social media to rant, but I feel I need to
share some important info that I have found concerning the BLM and their
treatment of the Bundy family concerning their “trespassing cows.”

    What
our nation saw last week was deplorable. With all the major issues our nation
faces to see hundreds of armed agents descend on one family over cattle and
scrub desert was sickening to say the least.

    Toward the end of the
situation rumors started flying that the real reason the feds were going about
this with such vitriol was due to the fact that there was a deal in place
between Nevada interests including Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and his son
Rory with a Chinese firm to build a Solar project near the area.

    That
peaked my interest so I decided to do my own poking around to verify this
situation. In the meantime as the situation suddenly dissolved as soon as the
Reid’s name was brought into the scenario, and the media started to poo poo the
claim including the main political editor of the Las Vegas Review Journal
newspaper saying that the Solar project is clear down near Laughlin, Nevada(Dry
Lake) and had nothing to do with this situation.

    (1) It is true that
there is a multi-million dollar deal for a solar project in the works near
Laughlin known as the Dry Lake Solar Energy Zone. This is a huge project that
when completed will cover around 9 SQUARE MILES of desert with solar panels! The
BLM knows that this will cause irreparable damage to the fragile desert
eco-system so they have come up with a ” Regional Mitigation Plan.”

    (2)
The Mitigation plan requires the BLM to find another area in the region that
mimics the eco-system of the area where the solar project is so that tortoises
can be moved and desert plants can be replanted from seed.

    (3) Guess
where the BLM chose as the Mitigation area-That’s right the “Gold Butte
Allotment!” And guess who has cows on that allotment? The Bundy’s! I am not
    making any of this up.

I found the BLM’s own document which was just
finalized last month!! No wonder out of the blue after decades of doing nothing
about this alottment the government horde descended on the Bundy’s and limited
citizens’s to free speech zones, beat and arrested citizens illegally, tazed and
threw women to the ground, and threaten to shoot citizens all in the effort to
    get some cows off desert.

Now here is the truth-Please go to the BLM site
and look for the BLM Regional Mitigation Strategy for Dry Lake Solar Energy
Zone, BLM Technical note 444, read pages 25,26,29, and 30 and it is all laid out
in their own words and you will soon come to realize why the feds will not go
away and why Harry Reid continues his verbal assault on this family calling them
    domestic terrorists today.

Please understand what many of our elected
leaders have turned into and how our government is willing if we let them
destroy citizen’s livelihoods. Please see the big picture and why the BLM will
go away for awhile and then come back. Let us be diligent in holding our leaders
    and our government

BLM Seeks Public Interest for Solar Energy Development in the Dry Lake Solar Energy Zone

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Washington, D.C. – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) today announced that it is accepting preliminary right-of-way (ROW) applications and expressions of interest from interested parties for conducting a solar competitive auction on the 5,717–acre Dry Lake Solar Energy Zone in Clark County, Nevada.

The BLM’s current action builds on the Western Solar Energy Plan, a two-year planning effort conducted on behalf of the Secretary of the Interior and the Secretary of Energy to expand domestic energy production and spur development of solar energy on public lands in six western states. The Western Solar Energy Plan provides a blueprint for utility-scale solar energy permitting in Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico and Utah by establishing Solar Energy Zones with access to existing or planned transmission, incentives for development within those Solar Energy Zones, and a process through which to consider additional Solar Energy Zones and solar projects.

This public notification is the first step toward possible competitive solar energy development on public lands in the Dry Lake Solar Energy Zone. Once the 30 day notice period closes, the BLM will review all submissions from interested parties to see if other companies are interested in developing solar energy in these areas. If the BLM determines that sufficient competition exists, it may use a competitive bidding process, consistent with its regulations, to select a preferred applicant in the Solar Energy Zone.

“By locating projects in areas of high development potential and low resource conflict, the BLM is providing a more predictable process for industry while ensuring better outcomes for communities and the environment,” said Principal Deputy Director Neil Kornze. “In addition, competitive bidding for solar energy development ensures that we are securing a fair return for the American taxpayer.”

Today’s announcement also includes the release of the “Regional Mitigation Strategy for the Dry Lake Solar Energy Zone,” a pilot effort by the BLM that identifies mitigation priorities and options in advance of development. The strategy takes into account the resource conditions of the land and regional trends informed by BLM’s recent Rapid Ecoregional Assessments. Regional mitigation plans are intended to provide a more predictable and effective landscape-scale approach to mitigation, while providing both greater certainty for project developers and more benefit to the natural resources affected by energy development. The Regional Mitigation Strategy for the Dry Lake Solar Energy Zone is the first of several pilot plans to be developed by the BLM.

The strategy was developed in collaboration with dozens of stakeholders to address key issues such as where and how mitigation may be achieved and the costs associated with doing so. The BLM will conduct additional stakeholder outreach on the development of future regional mitigation strategies for solar energy zones.

The Regional Mitigation Strategy for the Dry Lake Solar Energy Zone is available online at: http://on.doi.gov/1iJOtNb.

The BLM manages more than 245 million acres of public land, the most of any Federal agency. This land, known as the National System of Public Lands, is primarily located in 12 Western states, including Alaska. The BLM also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate throughout the nation. The BLM’s mission is to manage and conserve the public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations under our mandate of multiple-use and sustained yield. In Fiscal Year 2013, the BLM generated $4.7 billion in receipts from public lands.

I have now reviewed the pertinent sections of this legally-mandated mitigation study you cited – thanks for the info and link – and, having previously reviewed the court filings in the case(s) of U.S. v. Bundy, still fail to see your point. The Gold Butte Allotment mentioned in the study, which you claim is owned by Bundy; is the same land on which he has been grazing his cattle, and which the courts have consistently ruled, belongs to the U.S.

      • Retired_from_SPOnaj

Did you come across any info on how one might bid on the tortoise relocation contract, or has that already been sole sourced to a Reid company?

        • jbjd

Finding the ‘goods’ on Senator Reid was not my goal here. That said, I find his habit of omitting the name of his granddaughter on the FEC filing for campaign disbursements rises to the level of intentional ongoing unlawful conduct worthy of criminal indictment.

      • BannedAgain18

most NQbots do not even realize that Bundy has been fighting this in the courts for over 20 years and has lost every single time. this has occurred under both Republican and Democratic Administrations. There is absolutely not politics here on the government side, but now plenty of anti-government politics and a guy trying to freeload off the U.S government or taxpayers on the Bundy side. Why don’t we just turn over all our federal land or taxpayer land to anyone who wants to use it for free?

    • wyntre

This succinctly outlines Greed’s connection to the Bundy Ranch and why he says it’s not over.

    • Deapster

Wow, hiding in plain sight. Thanks.

  • BannedAgain18

Seems like there could be much more to this story than first meets the eye. There is a good chance there are bigger forces at play here. You be the judge:

“Bundy’s anti-federal agenda is closely aligned with that of Charles and David Koch, major Republican donors who have been pushing for states to gain control over federal lands – so they can be sold or leased to people like the Koch brothers in deals.”

“Fox News Network and Sean Hannity have a particular interest in the promotion and realization of such Koch interests because their funding depends on it — Hannity receives major funding and large ad buys from Koch-affiliated Heritage and Tea Party Patriots.

Hannity’s Koch-affiliated funders have a long history of promoting the privatization of public lands and condemning the federal ownership of land. Tea Party groups have supported local efforts to transfer federal lands. Heritage has advocated shrinking the U.S. government’s control by selling its physical assets such as “huge swaths of land (especially out west).” Heritage was also a loyal promoter of the Federal Land Freedom Act of 2013, advocating for the transfer of federal land management to state regulators for energy resource development.

Giving airtime to an issue that is obscure but significant to his conservative funders makes perfect sense for Hannity. Politico reported that Heritage began sponsoring Hannity in 2008 and in 2013 Hannity began advertising for the Tea Party Patriots, “lending his name to fundraising drives, hosting its leaders on his radio and Fox News shows, and even using the Fox airwaves to promote the Tea Party Patriots website.”

The Koch brothers have been covertly funding right-wing organizations such as Heritage Action and the Tea Party Patriots through the non-profit business league Freedom Partners whose tax code status as a trade association allows the organization to conceal its donors. Freedom Partners is one of the largest donors of conservative groups and its board has deep ties to the Koch brothers with many of its members being longtime employees of Koch Industries and the Charles G. Koch Foundation.

The Koch-funded Freedom Partners made grants of $236 million in 2011; among many conservative groups its recipients include Heritage as well as the Tea Party Patriots. Heritage Action received $500,000 in 2011 from the Koch brothers through Freedom Partners and additional funds from the Charles G. Koch Charitable Foundation. In 2012, the Tea Party Patriots received $200,000 from Freedom Partners.

The legislative efforts of such groups to transfer control of federal lands to states are “nothing more than corporate-backed messaging tools” initiated by conservative groups like the Koch-affiliates. Such efforts are rooted in the interests of the Kochs and other conservative groups to use the land in whichever way is most profitable to them such as mining, drilling, and other resource extraction.”

Nice sidestep. Bottom line is, if you are against big money in politics, you should be rightly suspicious of Soros. But you can’t be, since he pays your paycheck.

Nothing racist was said. You need your ears cleaned out, which apparently does not happen when you also willingly get brain-washed.

But that is because your brain is in another part of our anatomy besides inside your head.

            “Nothing racist was said. ”

Classic NQ response… given the racists things that have been said on NQ over the years… no surprise.

I know you have been brainwashed into demonizing the Koch brothers, but it won’t work here. I am a HUGE fan of the Koch brothers. They are libertarians and extremely big donors to charity. And most of their charity is for things like museums and hospitals and universities. I guess George Soros doesn’t like other rich guys stepping in on his megalomaniacal plans to control everything.

      Media Matters – that figures

There is no website less credible than Media Matters

When an obot ties the Koch Bros into any topic, he automatically triggers Godwin’s Law.
