wodiej’s Guy * Open Thread

From our faithful reader wodiej:

“I feel the utmost sympathy for Larry on the loss of Ceasar. I have had several dogs but I lost my little Andre in April. I had him for 7 years and I was and am still heartbroken about this little guy. …” [MORE below the fold, including who's who in the photo.]

MORE from wodiej:

“Andre completely enveloped my heart and soul. I love all my pets and this picture is of me, my 11 yr old neighbor Brianna and my little Shih Tzu, Noah. He is a sweet little guy. After Andre died, it was just me and him for awhile. Use the photo if you like.”

    • stodgie

i can’t help but think that oprah’s better days are behind her. her face looks hard in that photo. i have not been a fan of hers for a long time.

Oh, so sorry. The loss of a pet is never easy. I was attached to a bunny, goldfish, a neighbor’s dog (they didn’t take care of her)…. I added their names on petloss.com. For anyone who’s lost a dear animal friend, it’s a comforting site to go to. They say all animals go to Rainbow Bridge to await the arrival of their human companions so they can cross that bridge together… :)

    • wodiej

sorry about your losses too. yes, our pets are all waiting for us on the other side…

  • JustMe

rainbow bridge sounds wonderful must remember that and TY DJ if u added Bobby….

Oprah Winfrey: Sarah Palin Snubbed Me!

That’s laughable! Is Oprah so ignorant she can’t see she used her show to tout one candidate for POTUS yet barred all other candidates from getting comparable exposure to her audience so they could make up their own minds? Leno and Letterman had BO, Biden, Hillary, McCain on their shows. So what was she afraid of? Now Oprah wants big ratings for her show by trying to get Gov. Palin on. Perhaps Oprah thinks Palin is stupid and will just jump at the chance…. For what? Gov. Palin has already stated the campaign is over.

You’ve got to wonder, how did this bit of gossip get out into the MSM and out of Oprah’s mouth? Gov. Palin certainly isn’t giving daily press briefings on who gets an interview. All I’ve read is Palin has been deluged with interview requests – upwards of 200 both foreign and domestic- after she returned to her office in Anchorage. She’s had to turn down most of them and that includes Oprah. You know what this is? This is a case of Oprah covering her a**, and now she’s trying to spin it as if it’s Palin’s fault. If Oprah bothered to read what’s on the minds of Alaskans today, they want their governor back handling the daily affairs of Alaska full-time and that’s what Gov. Palin is doing.

Oh, and if Oprah thinks Palin has a multi-million dollar book deal? She ought to stop spewing speculation as fact. Palin has no book deal yet but MSM have been quoting publishers saying they’re eager to sign her to a muli-million deal. But there could be a problem, Alaska law may make such a book deal illegal for public officials… something Oprah conveniently overlooked.

I agree with all you say…

I hope Sarah does her own thing her own way why would she need Oprah…

      Go Sarah~~

Whilst we are speaking of Sarah here

Have you all noticed how precise she is now when speaking? Not off and tounge tied like in the GE.
I think Sarah will go far all on her own merit who needs Oprah?

      • jvsp

        “…who needs Oprah?”

Other than those who are intellectually bankrupt (imnsho), those that are very, very needy,

For another view of the Obama Chief Speech Writer Jon Favreau yet another one of those ‘innocent’ frat boy moments for Team Obama.

Go to the Riverdaughter ‘s Confluence Blog (link in list of blogs to the right).

If seeing Hillary’s image being groped by frat boys — how about seeing Mrs. Obama’s cardboard cut out being groped?? Image the outrage?

Last Sunday morning my next block neighbor found a tabby cat dead on her driveway…he had probably been hit by a car…she and did not know who it belonged to..
We were missing our beautiful 8 y/o green-eyed tabby, Tigger…he lived every day like a tiger,a beautiful proud, loving animal…and how he was loved!
We were hoping that he was lost or holed up in someone else’s house…every morning I would check for little paw prints in the snow on my back porch..hoping that he had come home…none were ever found…
We passed out lots of fliers, today almost a week later, my neighbor called the number on the flier and I found out that my beloved pet had died…
I feel like someone has ripped a piece of me out, and my heart truly aches..I miss him, and I always will.
Here’s to you Tigger, my beautiful, spoiled, beloved fat cat!

    • JustMe

Oh gee i am so sorry……………. that is truly a heart ache there.
Hey Tigger please find Bobby and go to Rainbow Bridge together Bobby passed today help each other along the way…

{{{{Chris}}}} heres a hug that is soooooooooooo hard
no words just now will take your pain away…..

Just know that Tigger is looking down on you and showing you the way…..

      Rest in Peace Tigger!

      • JustMe

Chris another thing I do when I lose a pet is plant a flower a rose or whichever flower reminds you of your wonderful pet in the garden and take time out when the flower is in bloom to share time with Tigger.

I will say that flower will be the strongest and brightest in the garden….

It will help to heal your heart…. and in time you will smile knowing Tigger is simply a breath away~~

    • wodiej

sorry about your kitty. It’s an unbelievable heartache to lose one of these furry babies.

rainbow bridge sounds wonderful must remember that and TY DJ if u added Bobby….

Oh, it’s really easy for you to add Bobby’s and any other beloved pet’s name to the Bridgelist on PETLOSS.COM — There’s a simple online form to fill out. I just checked the site and it’s still going strong. My bunny’s name has been on it for 8 years! It’s free to add a name along with your name or initials with a description of the type of breed, species, etc… along with the age of your beloved. You can also write a tribute to your pet if you like. The story of The Rainbow Bridge is described there, too. When you visit the site it plays soothing music so be sure to have your speakers turned up. :) I’m very thankful for the fellow running the petloss site, there must be 1000′s of names on it already.

    • JustMe

Done it DJ thank you so much for the info…
      What a beautiful site….

    • wodiej

      thank you for the info

    Oh, Chris!

I’m so sorry to hear about how you lost Tigger! What a shock it must have been…

Oh, Tigger will be across that Rainbow Bridge….

I read a little piece on it years ago…made me cry like crazy over my little guinea pigs and gerbils, all very special…just like your Tigger, Bobby, Caesar and Andre…and so many other angels…

I’m very sorry for everyone’s pet loss. They’re family to us. Last year I lost my cat she was 21 human years old right before her 22 birthday. Now I have a 14 year old Schnauzer I’ve known since Halloween it’s time but I’ve had a hard time doing it. She still runs to me and plays with the kittens(I have 2 and 2 older cats that adopted us) and the younger dog like she’s still a pup. Best dog I’ve ever had, she let the kids and my grandkids do whatever they wanted to her. I used to dress her up like a real human baby, put diapers on her while I was potty training her. She put up with so much from me. Now I’ve put it off till after Christmas so I can have one last Christmas with her.

    • wodiej

Diana, I’ve had 3 schnauzers….it is hard to let them go. I don’t know why I had an especially close bond with my Andre, my yorkie. I am glad that when it was his time to go he went in his sleep. I don’t think I could have put him down.

My labrador -The Mighty Quinn -died in 95 & we planted an apricot tree on top of him . Today the first apricots were ready to eat. It is so magnificent to eat a real tree ripened apricot -completely organic -from ones own tree.

Apparently a 30kg dog takes 7 years to fully decompose -exactly feeding a tree till full growth.

    • wodiej

      nice tribute for your Quinn

  • Hot Librarian

Make that the first apricots of the season. Weve been harvesting for 10 years .

  • Ladyhawkke

So sorry, Wodie. I know how hard it is to lose an animal you love. They are family. My heart goes out to you.

    • wodiej

      thank you, appreciate that.

  • stodgie

i have three little kitties and feed two outside kitties who have been abandoned. they are a joy in so many ways. i can’t imagine not waking up in the morning to the indigant crys of “we want breafast” in cat talk.

  • chris

    To all of you!
Thank you for your kind comments, they are a real comfort to me! And the petloss website is a wonderful resource. My candle will be lit every Monday night without fail..
The tears flow so easily, my pets, now only 2 cats and 2 dogs are my family. There are no kennels for my poochies, they come with, some other family member takes care of them or I don’t go. There is nothing as pure to me as when I look into my pet’s eyes..these are in essence the most perfect moments…It will take some time before I can go near my back door without expecting to see my Tigger eagerly awating to see me and come in for some grubs. I take solace that he is at peace and not suffering in any way..he sure did have a good life, and I know that he is strutting his stuff wherever he is ..In the spring I will plant something grand..I don’t know what yet..but I have time, winter has just begun..

  • Katmoon

wodiej, thanks so much for the photo, so sweet, and so very sorry for your loss. This four-legged guys and gals are, family to us all as well.
